It is indeed a thin stroke (1.5 and 2px). Resolution / Down sample Factor popup is set to full. Even zooming in as far as 800% won't do the trick during the preview. Changing the stroke width to 3px does do the trick but I've been making animations with strokes for years and don't think I've had this problem before in older versions?

Thanks Mylenium. Video rendering is at Mercury GPU (Metal) as always, changing it to Software Only doesn't solve it. I don't know what you mean by "all the life update stuff". If you mean live preview; yes, scrolling through the timeline does show everyting but as soon as you PREVIEW it all stuff that has STROKES don't show where I'm 100% sure this was showing before updating to the latest version.

I've recently updated After Effects 2020 (on my Mac) and have this weird issue where I can't see my STROKE effects when previewing / using playback in After Effects. As soon as you stop previewing it's there. All settings are fine. Even when exporting as Mp4 or whatever it's there as it should but it just doesn't show when previewing which is very annoying as I can't judge the animations / looks of it while working on it. Is there any fix for this?

Thanks for the info! Great to hear you did some more research, too bad they haven't been able to supply you with a clear solution. Trapcode Particular is an external plugin by Redgiant. I do think I installed a trial version 2 years ago but haven't touched it since so I'm guessing it shouldn't be active during my normal workflow.. would be weird if that would cause the crashes, but I could atleast give it a shot by deleting it and see if it helps. As far as hardware; I'm working on a 2017 iMac Pro with Radeon Pro Vega 56 8gb, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4. Looks like you're using a beast yourself so pretty sure our hardware shouldn't be the problem?

I updated AE earlier this week and I've had this crash 5 times already today on a new project (made in AE 2020). It's driving me nuts. The reason I'm replying is because I'm googling for a solution as well. Maybe we can figure out on here. Are you using any third party plugins? For this project I've been using Overlord, Motion3, TextEvo, Boombox and Ease and Wizz. I know that's a ton of plugins but maybe it's one of them interfering with the latest AE version.

So, I love the detailed "Face Tracking" option in Adobe After Effects. The tracking definitely works well. But my question is, how can I copy/ use this data to replace an entire face? (from a still image for example). I've seen some glitchy methods were people used the Puppet Tool to recreate points on an image, where they would whip every point to the points generated by the Face tracking. But this means accurate generated data on the tracking side, and very inaccurate data on the other hand (since all these points have to be hand-made with the puppet tool). Any advice on transfering the tracking data to an image would be highly appreciated! (In Adobe's official tutorial they only use the Face Tracking tool to put some kind of mask over the actors face, by using the tracking information from the nose)

Thanks Meg, but that didn't do the trick. This however, did work for me: Find the folder below and delete the contents of the "Layouts" folder. Empty trash. Restart Premiere. Voila it works again. I just logged on these forums to ask the exact same thing. Was editing yesterday, everything worked fine, just now I had to edit something and cannot open the COLOR panel/ workspace. This worked before perfectly. I've tried opening different projects, no luck. Really strange. In my case all other tabs do work, but I get the same screen you're showing for the COLOR workspace. (FYI: I'm running Premiere 2018 on Mac).

Hi Theresa, Sounds like we're almost there. I do indeed use Suitcase Fusion for my fonts. Do you happen to know what font Adobe uses? It will be a hard job disabling all fonts one by one to see which one is conflicting I find it strange it's just in the "Export As" window though. All other windows/ panels seem to work just fine. Hi Sahil, Thanks for your reply. Just tried this and did get the popup to reset the preference settings. Just did this. Then restarted Photoshop a few times but no look on the fonts in the export window changing. In other words, I keep having this problem. Any other suggestions maybe? Cheers! - Kevin

My conclusion on the whole thing: • OpenCL = Garuanteed crashes / glitches • Metal = No crashes but preview window is very glitchy (like I posted earlier, you will see multiple windows, some look normal, others are completely on acid). • Software Only = Preview looks great but very slow while rendering. So here's what has worked for me. Haven't had any crashes for at least a week. While editing use SOFTWARE ONLY. When ready to render / export (and don't need to look at your Preview Monitor anymore) switch back to Metal) and voila. Of course it's not a "solution" but at least you'll be able to work for now.

Amazing. Changing the first icon to a compound path and reversing the Path Direction of just that one in Illustrator did the trick, it didn't flip any more. Still looked a little messy so adding an extra keyframe between situation A and B in After Effects, where I manually repositioned some of the vector points, made it look much smoother. Thanks Roei. I tried that "copy" to AI and back to AE trick but no luck. Reverse Path Direction was greyed out and in AE I can only find the Mask Interpolation panel which is not as enhanced as the "Smart" panel shown in the article. In the link below is the AE project of the morph. If anybody could look at it that would be highly appreciated. I have 2 icons made in Illustrator. I then made a Solid in After Effects and copied the paths from Illustrator to these paths so they appear as Masks. Then I've applied a STROKE. Now, at a certain point I want the Mask Path to turn from 1 icon to another. However, it "mirrors" while making this transformation. You see this weird flip. As soon as I try to set the "First Vertex" it screws up my path as it's not closed. I've been Googling a lot but can't really find an answer on how to AVOID this flip and how to AVOID the First Vertex to randomly close my paths which I don't want. Any help would be fantastic!

It's been a few weeks and still no update so I tried my luck by talking to someone at Adobe's support again. Their solution: Switch video renderer to "software only mode" When asked if they're working on a "real" fix I got this: "Radeon Pro 455 is not in the supported list for GPU acceleration." (with a link to https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html) You may update the Graphic card driver and check if it helps". So, okay, I headed over to: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download Everything is for Windows and nothing there for the cards we're having issues with so back to square one. I'm sure they're trying to help us but I'm so tired of all these different "fixes" and none of them actually solving this. Why isn't there one good statement about this and some news on WHEN to actually have this fixed. How can there not be a deadline?

Since I really had to finish something I switched to "Metal" one more time to see if it would work this time. This time I was able to work another 4 hours in Premiere (+ export) WITHOUT any glitches or crashes. Once I hit play, the preview monitor was very glitchy during the whole process (see attached image - multiplied screens and buggy windows for no reason) but at least it didn't make the computer freeze. I don't know if I just got lucky these fews hours and I know it doesn't work for a lot of you, but as a kind a of "emergency fix" it's worth trying for some of you to be able finish your project in Premiere for now. File -> Project Settings -> General --> Change Video Renderer to "Metal"

I'm currently at a point where I'm seriously about to smash this Macbook. Like Bryan said, I too have deadlines and explaining my clients I can't deliver because "my software isn't working" is of course not a valid reason. Don't get me wrong, I really want to help where I can. I try to recreate the problem but it really just happens at random moments. I've had it freeze over a nested sequence but the rest were "just" while playing back normal clips. Anyways, one last time I'll post some crash reports: • No crash for first 2 hours of editing (woohoo, felt good editing again). • Went somewhere else and started editing again (no charger attached) • Within 30 min - 2 crashes (1 time - while previewing my timeline these "Transparent" blocks appeared and the system froze, audio was still playing (no effects or weird speed ups applied, just 4K footage scaled to 1080p). 2nd time - same, just no "weird blocks" this time). • Then back at my office, editing with charger again, but still crashes every 10 to 30 minutes. • Just now - when previewing a clip - screen just turns completely black (again no effects applied). • Restarted - continued editing - within 5 minutes, again a black screen. • Again, same. Have to stop working as it's just impossible.. The last thing I want to say about this; is how can there, at this time, not be a few pissed off managers at Adobe realising how bad this is and start communicating (in- and externally) and force their crew to fix this asap?

I totally agree. Why not make one clear statement about what's going on and when we can expect it to be fixed. I get it's a holiday season but like others said, this problem has been around for quite some weeks now and those of us who run a business would love to get some things cleared up. And I'm not here to mock about stuff, I usually don't care about small glitches and bugs at all, but this one is starting to cost me quite some money. Here I am, new machine in front me, paying for a CC subscription but I can't even meet my projects deadlines because of this stuff... Can't wait for the day I get a nice little "Premiere Pro update available" popup.

I'll add my problems to this thread then as this seems to be a thread with the most combined "problems". Hope we can find a solution soon! Macbook Late 2016 - 15 inch - 2,7GHZ - 16GB Ram - Radeon Pro 455 First time using Adobe Premiere on the new macbook. (FYI: this was an "older" project I started on a 2013 Macbook and then finished on this new Macbook): - While editing no problems. - First time exporting as MP4 - froze at 36% for no reason - forced reboot - Second time exporting as MP4 - froze at 84% for no reason - forced reboot - Third time exporting - Green and red glitchy screen - forced reboot Since then: Updated to MacOS 10.12.2 + latest version of Adobe Premiere. I've only made NEW projects (to make sure it didn't have to do with settings from older project). While working on my project, after an hour or so, the screen went crazy. I was just working on the timeline. Wasn't adding any heavy effects or pre-rendering any parts. Again, not trying to blame anyone here, but if Adobe is working on a fix that works around hardware problems the new Macbook has, I could still return my Macbook and use my Adobe CC on another platform. I've been using Adobe Premiere for ages and have never had any problems with it. Of course, sometimes when rendering you feel like your computer is about to take off, but that's about it. However, I recently got a new Macbook Pro (late 2016 model) and things are getting nasty. I'm not blaming Adobe at all, but I'm hoping to get some advice here. So the first time I was working in Adobe Premiere on the new machine I tried exporting a project to MP4. The first time Premiere froze. Second time, the same thing happened. The third time, the screen went all red, but mostly green. Now I must say, this was a project I had transferred from my old Macbook, and I read some people had the same problem with working on project that were originally made on an older Apple machine. Since then I've updated to MacOS 10.12.2 and have created a NEW project in Premiere (no old files were used). And while working on this project (a review on this new Macbook, how ironic) the following happened. Screen went all red. Could only get out of it by restarting the computer. Ah, now I see! Thanks for the explanation. Just found out that when you create a new document and hit "Web" it automatically has "Artboards" checked on and this indeed causes the problem I was talking about. Didn't even notice that, just need to get used to the new "New Document" interface. I never use Artboards in Photoshop either, but I love to use them in Illustrator. Thanks again!

Okay, so I've been using Photoshop for 20 years now and just updated to the new 2017 version and have some weird problems with simply resizing an image. Let's say you create a PSD document of 800x400 pixels. At the end you need a 400x200 pixels version as well so you go to "Image --> Image size" and type in the new values. Hit OK and everything (seems to) looks right. However, when you save it as JPG you would normally save an image that is 400x200 pixels, but now I get a 800x400 pixels image with the artwork in there scaled to 400x200 pixels. In order words, tons of blank space. It's very strange, and even though everything looks normal in Photoshop itself, right before you hit "OK" to actually save the JPG you see that it's all wrong. What am I missing here? It's something so simple but very frustrating.

Thanks Mylenium. The thing is, the final composition was very easy to create in Illustrator. That's why I ended up with so many masks within a shape layer. But If I'd first create one square in AE, animate it, copy it 400 times, time-remap it and then manually form the right shape (which is quite complex to manually do in AE) it would probably take ages? Pre-comping or not, you still have 400 different squares to deal with right? I'm sure I might be missing something here and I really appreciate the answer but it doesn't really help me out yet. Not looking for a "lazy" method, but I'm sure manually having to deal with 400 squares one by one, either as shapes, solids or masks can't be the fastest way. Thanks again!

I have a shape layer with around 400 masks (all simple squares). I want all these squares to change to one colour, so I've applied the "Fill"-effect, which can be set for either 1 mask, or ALL masks. However, there should be a small delay between each mask changing to it's new color, instead of all 400 squares turning red in a split second. Now I could apply the fill effect and manually set this for 400 masks (which will take some hours to do), but I was wondering if there's a way to set this up once, then apply this to all other masks with a simple delay? Any help would be highly appreciated!
