After Effects

I see a lot of support in Premier, but not so much for AE.I know that right click contextual menus have very limited support. Is marker support in After Effects limited to Layer>Marker menu commands? 

Hi everyone. I'm trying to figure out matrix transformations, more specifically, how to change pivot/origin center. So, when you apply following transformation, rotate, scale and translate:matrix.mat[0][0] = cosf(angle) * scale; matrix.mat[0][1] = sinf(angle) * scale; matrix.mat[1][0] = -sinf(angle) * scale; matrix.mat[1][1] = -sinf(angle) * scale; matrix.mat[2][0] = position_x; matrix.mat[2][1] = position_y; matrix.mat[2][2] = 1;it works fine, just the issue is it's origin is upper left corner, but I want origin to be in the center. Now, I know I need to first translate by layers half, then rotate by custom angle, and then translate back, but I don't know how that should look like in terms of matrix transformation (code than I posted). Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there! Recently I've been having this issue with After Effects deleting unused folders/items for every project I create. I have been using a template folder structure for the past few years to save time and now I have to create each folder again since Ae deletes the empty ones.I couldn't find any setting that prevents this. Hello all,  After Effects 2021 (18.0.1) has a real hard time processing the Mac standard SF Pro font on my Windows device. I installed it like any other font (unpackaged the OTF from the Apple website) and it works fine in all other programs, but for some reason After Effects doesn't like it? The 3-minute animation (motion blur, 20+ layers, with camera video) can render within 4 minutes, but when I put the lower thirds in render time skyrockets to almost 2 hours. It took me a while to figure out that it was the specific font, but I tested it with other windows & Adobe native fonts, and render time was fixed. Not sure if anyone has experienced this, or found a solution, but any help would be great! So I was curious cuz, I love to have photoshop and illustrator but I have after effect 2023 and premiere 2023 and I love to have the same versions and work with it. So my question is do I still own the 2023 or older versions if I change my subscription plan to a subscription with all app or student subscriptionIf someone know thanks

Hello Everyone!I have a question regarding workflow for longer After Effects projects. Specifically, I make video essays on Youtube and use After Effects to make all of my animations. Essentially,  I only use premiere to edit the audio, which I then export and bring into After Effects. I then construct the entire video in After Effects, and export that. I then bring that final video back into Premiere to add sound effects. I've opted for this because the dynamic link system has proven very ineffective - my computer slows to a crawl when trying to render dynamic links, much less export them. Rendering and replacing has been a possible solution to avoid exporting the final piece essentially twice over, but again, the dynamic link system as a whole seems to be much slower than editing just in After Effects. I personally aim for a style that to me, someone with decent enough experience in the program but am by no means a professional, only seems achievable in After Effects. My biggest

Hey there,  I have an After Effects issue that is driving me nuts, also because it's a little subtle but noticeable:  I have an Illustrator file with photography and when I import the file into after effects to make some stuff move this happens: 1. The elements get just a tad blurrier. I am working in AE at 1920x1080 and it's clearly a little blurrier then when I export a png of the same res from AI. 2. The colors fade just a little bit. Then they fade more when I export. The final video is a lot more washed out compared to what I get when I export from AI.  I am using the same color profile (sRGB) in both applications.  Thanks in advance! Hi, I am having a problem where the activity of the SSD raises to 100% when I am caching, while its write and read speeds remain very low.All the other peripherals (cpu, memory, etc) are barely used.I tried to move the cache to different drives and it happened on all drives. On other pcs the disk activity is usually in sync with the read and write speeds.Also, sometimes the disk goes to 100% even by just opening AE and not rendering, etc and once I stop rendering/caching it remains at 100% for a long time.Specs:Windows 10128gb Ram6950x i7sm 961 samsung SSDTested on multiple AE versions, with same result.Anyone has a solution? To remove some content from a footage, I created a mask and a reference frame from the footage.But Content Aware Fill seems ignore the reference frame:  What did I do wrong? Why isn't Content Aware Fill using the reference frame for rendering its output? Strange: The mask in the Content Aware Fill effect window is very ragged when displaying the frame using the reference frame. It doesn't resemble the selected masks at all:   It looks very different when the CTI is at another frame:  

Hey everyone!Just wanted to share a bit about a recent motion design project I worked on, specifically my experience with frame rates. I received the initial footage in 23.976 fps and then did a few things with this footage:Tracked a phone replacement shot3D camera trackingVarious other tracking shotsAfter that, I sent off a version to a sound designer, and the sound design came back mapped to the 23.976 fps footage. Later, I received a graded version of the film, but it was sent back at 25 fps. This created a lot of issues: all my tracking work was off, the sound was out of sync, and I had to retime the in and out points of my graphics. To fix it, I changed my After Effects comp to 25 fps and retimed everything. To save some time, I exported the heavy shots and used Topaz AI to convert them to 25 fps.Then, further down the line, I received an edit back for reversioning purposes, and it was at 23.976 fps again—someone had used the 25 fps graded file but exported it at 23.976. Hi there! I have a question about file compatability between different versions of After Effects. I'm currently taking a class in AE, and when I tried to open an assignment I did on a school computer (likely on one of the latest versions, probably a 2024 version) on my laptop (with AE 2021, version 18.0.0, build 39), I couldn't, getting this error message: The file you are attempting to open was created with After Effects version 25.0×20 (Apple Arm 64) and cannot be opened with this version. See www.adobe.com/aftereffects for information on upgrading your software. Additionally, early on in the assignment, when I opened it, it automatically opened up in After Effects Beta instead of After Effects like I'd originally made it in, and I've been working with the new, (converted) file since. I had Content Aware Fill generate a reference frame that I then edited in PhotoShop and saved. Now I want to add more masks to the original footage and edit the PSD reference frame accordingly. But I don't seem to be able to re-open the reference frame for editing … How can I edit the reference frame after it has been saved and closed in PhotoShop?

A real quick one to hopefully save someone else literal weeks of pain and frustration – after a full reinstall, swapping out hardware and lots of other steps it may have been as simple as this all along:Edit > Preferences > DisplayUncheck hardware accelerate comp, layer and footage panels. My AE was crashing multiple times a day, particularly when Illustrator was also open. So far since unchecking this box I have had 0 problems. I would speculate its a bit of a niche problem potentially related to something third party like Mt Mograph Motion or Overlord otherwise more people would be losing their minds and reporting problems!

I want to create a script that I deploy to all AE users in the studio. In this script, there shall be a button which adds custom create Render Cue Path templates to the AE settings. I've tried to manilulate the txt containing the settings via JS, but AE refuses to reload the file despite calling app.preferences.reload(). It keeps the settings in memory from boot time, and overwrites all changes I made with JS on quite. So I tried to use the build in app.preferences.savePrefAsString(). But the data I try to edit is weirdly formatted:  ["Output File Name Template Presets Section v6"] "000" = "Kompositionsname"00"[compName].[fileExtension]"00  "000" is the key, "Kompositionname" is the name of the template and "[compName].[fileExtension]" is the path. So it's a string setting, with one key, but two string values, which the second is surrounded by two 00.I can new key, with names with app.preferences.savePrefAsString(), but how can I add my paths.An

My After Effects keeps crashing at start up saying that the memory that has been alocated is not enough. I have seen online that i need to purge my cache but I can not even enter After Effects to do that. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times and I just do not know what to do anymore. If anyone can help, that would be great 🙂

After updating to AE 24.6.3, I now have the recurring situation where, when opening projects directly (double-click in Finder), the project will try to load, then hang, and eventually AE will "stop responding".After force-quitting, the error message will show problems with a ScriptUI Panel script like Ease, or other ... Disabling (removing) the script temporarily and restarting, and then opening a project on double-click will just result in another script showing as causing the error.HOWEVER : The weird thing is that when you open AE first, and import the project, it all works fine.So : Double-click project open = crash.
