After Effects

1. When sizing the shape in Shape Properties it should respect the anchor point position. Sizing from the centre makes no sense. I should be able to scale the shape like it is in Illustrator or Photoshop. They respect the position of anchor point. Please fix this.2. Enabling "Bezier Path" in the toolbar is not always a good option as sometimes I want to keep the shape parametric. The option to convert it afterwards should be extremely easy but now it has too many steps to complete.

Disclaimer I am VERY new to After Effects, but one thing I struggle with in both AE and PR is using nests and pre-comps without a way to see/compare it easily to the main sequence or composition. Why isn't there an option to view your main content at a lower opacity while you're working in a nest/pre-comp, like an "onion skin" effect? When I am rotoscoping in AE there are different view options to see it with the pink outline over your foreground or with the background highlighted in red. I think something similar could be helpful when working in a nest/pre-comp so I can better align things on the screen by seeing my main content and adjusting accordingly. If something like this exists please let me know!

When leaving AE idle; going to another App or for a break, the AutoSave timer continues. Then, you get back to AE, you have to wait for an Auto-Save to happen. This is irritating, especially on large projects. Perhaps a quick fix might include - Perform AutoSave Even When Idle option in PrefsStop hogging AE when I return from my break!

So, deploying character ranges for the new text styling feature is a PITA. So, I'm thinking we have the wrong tool(s) for character ranges. So, howzabout we have a new type of slider that has TWO controls instead of the regular single control. The Left Control defines the start range and the Right Control, the length of the range. And via scripting/Expression control, we simply add arguments to get at each of these controls.And we'll call this 2-Control Slider, S2lider.  😄 My thoughts are with S2lider, it'll be much easier for average and even experienced users to start enjoying using the very cool text styling feature and hopeful/wishful that it'll be more performant than the verbose lines of code that's currently required to achieve identical results. So, we'll have a specific S2lider for Characters, another for Words and another for Lines and one more for Paragraph. and it's essentually the same slider but with functionality Based On a DropMenu to select

I write a lot of expressions in a text editor. It would be great if you could right click a parameter and copy the path for use in an expression. For example instead of having to pick whip or brute force figure out something like "thisComp.layer("Animation Controller").effect("Rotation Random Max")("Slider").value",  it would be very useful and efficient to just right click the parameter and copy this path. As it stands I Rube Goldberg it all by creating a dummy expression controller and pickwhiping parameters to it to be able to copy paste the path information.

I was looking for the possibility of having 'favorites' among the effects, so I can find them quickly. Is there a way?The only one that comes to mind is to create a folder and copy the effects there, then update the list.It would be more useful to be able to put a star and filter them quickly.

A Trim Paths mode that only affects Stroke while leaving Fill untouched will be a good addition.I'm looking at the Trim Paths, Trim Multiple Shapes Drop Menu as a guide for the UI-UX. So, right at the top of its UI, above Start, we have a Drop Menu, Trim Path Affects ...with the following Drop Menu Items - Stroke OnlyFill OnlyStroke and Filland Stroke Only wil be the default. 

Who among us has not pulled their hairs out trying to determine why a shot is not playing back at regular speed, only to realize that the layer has been time-stretched?  That's because you only see the time stretch properties within the Time Stretch dialogue box. I would like a layer somehow labeled when it has been Time Stretched anything beyond 100%. Could be as simple as a marker (screenshot attached), or something akin to Premiere's "FX" badge that gets applied to any clip with an effect applied. Thank you!

This has been asked in the past four years... I need to update the comp layouts for the way I work. Many AE users often has a mess in their work when I have in front of me cleaning up and updating files. So would be great to be able to update one comp timeline layout, and then have a button to click that sends that layout to all comps in the file. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Moderator: Thread title updated for clarify.

It blows my mind how AE can be such a mature and widely used product and STILL somehow doesn't support thumbnails in the Project panel?! - like not even the option to enable them. What in the world are the design team thinking? Every app including Adobe (Premiere, Photoshop, etc) have all had thumbnails since the dawn of time. But in AE, I have to scroll through a list of potentially hundreds of images, individually clicking on each of them one by one and previewing them to see what they are. So incredible that in 2024 this is still lacking.

Having removed the ability to create a color palette inside the software is A HUGE mis-step for the software, it borederline feels like a bad joke. Saving color and palettes is such a basic functionality of any creative software... but we are now forced to go outside of the software to create a palette and then import it? PLEASE, re-introduce a functional color swatch tool INSIDE after effects that does not require us to go elsewhere to create it and then import it. 

Can you please support color management when enebleing Mercury Transmit.I will not get the second display to convert to the Display color space.

Hi,I recently switched to AE 2025, and unfortunately, I've noticed that the UI font has changed to a bolder and blurrier version. After working with the new AE for a whole day, it feels as though I'm seeing everything with 0.75 diopters, and it's straining my eyes significantly. Is there any way to revert to the previous crisp font for the UI? Thank you,Andreas

Hi there! Is there any way of executing a context menu command?I'm trying this, which successfully returns the id 3064, but the action does not work on the selected layer. id = app.findMenuCommandId('Convert to Paragraph Text') app.executeCommand(id) Any idea on how can I make this work? Thanks!!

I'm currently working on a project that needs a bunch of assets in different pre-comps with the same resolution to be resized and repositioned and the fast way has been to use rulers, it would be nice if we could toggle it so rulers/guide lines stay on every comp till disabled.

How about a simple, non-cumbersome, and realistic way to import .ai and .psd layers onto your After Effects timeline. I personaly feel like the whole "Import as Footage/Retain Layer Sizes etc." system is convoluted, old, and never ends up behaving as planned. How about one button that allows you to pull in whatever you currenty have open in illustrator? All the layers based on the grouping you have them in in Illustrator and Photoshop. There's already several plugins that do this but they break when the progam is updated but the cool thing is, Adobe owns all three of these programs so it'd bee really easy to get this off the ground. 

Hi there! Question / Feature request:Is there any way we can access default camera settings from ExtendScript?We do quite a lot of scripting with cameras and exporting composition settings, but when someone changes the dafault camera settings, and there is no explicit camera, we're pretty must lost.  Thanks! 

Would be an amazing timesaver if we could have Layer Styles in the properties panel.Given a solid needs to be reloaded to change it's colour, I often drop a layer style on to quickly test colours etc.If i use a shape, sure it's a quick click to change a colour, but outside of using shapes or live text, the properties panel is a bit on the lean and useless side of practical... 

Quality of life request. The Graph Editor resizes function curves if I press the back tick (tilde) key and ENLARGE the viewing area.  Problem is, it DOESN’T restore the function curve to fit back down within the window when I press back tick again and make the Graph Editor smaller. The timeline and curve just get cropped. Please make it so it resizes the timeline and function curve when the window is made smaller again. 

I think it would be good to have the option to block a panel horizontally or/and vertically.Some occasions rescale a panel means breaking the proportion of others (especially when they are not responsive), In case of being able to block them, they would move from place without losing their proportion. 

Hi dear After Effects Team. I love the customizability within the keyboard shortcuts menu, however it puzzles me that there are quite a few keys that "may not be reassigned". Please remove this and let us change all keybinds, you could replace the hard lock with a warning if the user is absolutely certain that they want to change this key, but I can't comprehend why you would let people completely customize their experience, yet lock a few essential keys.. 

I just recently discovered the burst pop function and love it. Making those was a pain in the butt prior to this. Now it's easy. Which got me thinking, adding a scrolling number counter is the same kind of pain. Is there any way to add a function that makes it as easy as you made the burst pop? Just basically a text box that can be formatted the same way as a cell in Excel. Right now you have to add a bunch of code to add commas, get rid of decimals, add a dollar sign, etc. I create math and accounting animations so this would be really really useful. Please????!!!!

I've been doing timelapse work from Lightroom to After Effects (using LRTimelapse) for years. I've been doing my own crazy HDR merge workflow for years as well. Now that we have high dynamic range support in Lightroom, I was disappointed to see that it doesn't go into After Effects - with every setting I've tried, it shows up as an SDR file with primary colors mapped on the >100 IRE sections. So instead of bright highlights, I get bright yellow solid blobs, etc.I don't know if this is more of an After Effects thing or a Lightroom thing, but work together folks!Anybody know of a solution for this? Or can Adobe support their own file formats consistently across their own applications, please? I can eventually get there by exporting 32 bit TIFFs, and then converting those to EXR for drive space/speed concerns, but it is super slow and takes up ungodly amounts of drive space with I'm working with 32 bit 45MP stills.

Add texturing capability in sperate parts of the 3d model on advance 3d. Because I can't add a screen on tv through advanced 3d I have to rely on element 3d for that.

So when clicking and viewing footage from project panel to find what I need, then click back onto my timeline panel, would be nice for that to come back into forefront of the comp panel instead of having to go click on it along the top...
