After Effects

Imported 4k video file, black in the preview pane.  Went to the visibility eye and there is no box there to click it! HUH?? 1080p video shows up imediately. The file is mp4. What gives here?

Like a person wants to make a short film and is still learning but does not even know the name of WIRE REMUVE AFTER SHOOTING APP when he is also ready to spend the money.Will anyone tell me?

Hi all,This is a problem that I have from day one. I have 3 displays conected directly in to 3 separate USB Type C connectors on a back side of my Mac Studio. Display properties shows always right order of screens, starting from left to right (1 left, 2 center (main display), 3 right).  But problem is that every time I restart my Mac output screen of Premiere or After Effects is placed on  left or right screen. If I open Video preview settings in AE or PP check box is on the same place that I have checked before but softvare changes monitor markings. Monitor that iss Adobe Monitor 2 now is showing preview on monitor 3. So every time I must start Preferences/Video preview and change monitor selection to get output on the same screen as before the restart. I have tried to deactivate "separate spaces" on other screens but that didnt help. Right now my settings looks like this: Can someone please help me out!?Thank's in advance

I have numerous green screen footage from .mxf files that are not being rendered. They appear in After Effects but not in the media encoder.  Any ideas?   

Hi, I am new to AE, and I would like to install the Sapphire Plug in but I do not know how to. I have seen many videos and tutorials and none work. I have already downloaded the plug in from BorisFX and I have seen the instructions but I do not quite understand. If anyone can explain how to intall it in easier beginner words, I would appreciate it. 

Hey i do not have the option to extrude this path i have imported in from Illustrator. I have followed many step by step tutorials on how to use illustrator paths in after effects but i cannot progress past the point of "extrude" becuase that option does not show up. I can even edit the path in after effects so i know it is not a bitmap image it is a vector path. Why cant i extrude them?

Hi all, is it possible to disable automatic caching in AE or significantly increase the time before automatic caching? Because now there is a limitation that after maximum 15 seconds caching will start, I don't need it and it constantly overloads my PC and disc because of which it keeps freezing when I don't need the cache.

Hi, I'm running High Sierra and my iMac started to give up yesterday.  I unistalled AE, and because I don't have a version installed anymore, it won't give me the options to install pervious version.  The OS prevents me from installing any newer version that CC19. Any ideas how to get around this? I basically just need to collect and reduce a few projects onto drives to move onto a new machine. Thank you

Hello, I am creating an object instance during PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETUP and I want to use reference counting to keep it around during PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_FLATTEN, PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_RESETUP and PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETDOWN. What I do:Setup: creates the object instance and associates an UUID to it and sequence_data stores object instance pointer + UUID.Flatten: creates a flat representation of sequence_data (used for serialization). In my case, I put the UUID of my object in the flat data.Resetup: get back a pointer to the object from UUID or create one if not found (when loading from a file)Setdown: release the object if ref count goes down to 0. I am not sure how to do ref counting. For example, if I create a new project with a media, associate the plugin to a layer and then close the project, I got these numbers of call (in AE 2024 24.6.1 build 2):- Setup: 1- Flatten: 1- Resetup: 4- Setdown: 4 This works for sequence_data which is created in Setup, destroyed

One feature I miss a lot from Nuke is the possibility to bake a texture to UV space. Lots of great comp VFX are created this way.http://www.xuanprada.com/blog/2016/2/22/bake-from-nuke-to-uvs I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to do this in AE. Plugin perhaps?

Hello, I really hope someone can help me. Please note I am working from a work issued macbook and Adobe account.  SPECS:MacOS Monterey 12.5.1MacBook Pro 16 inch 2019 AFTER EFFECTS:22.0.1 / 22.6 I was working from a mac with the exact same specs as above but due to an IT issue I had to swap laptops with a collague. I was given a wiped macbook so installed Adobe Cloud etc. Since working from this newly issued macbook none of the projects I created last week work. I get a mirage of error messages.  The projects were created and are hosted on Dropbox which we use for a remote network. I am accessing files from the cloud when I open the project. The error messages range from: After Effects reading from file .... 3::6After Effects Error 51::19After Effects Error cannot reopen open file 3:130After Effects cannot read file 86::1 I do not understand this as the projects were working perfectly. In many languages special characters are used: äöüéô and so on As soon as I insert even one special character in my json file, it becomes completely unreadable (regardless of whether this part is read or not). If I remove the special character, everything works again.In older posts (2017) this was once recorded as a bug: LINK Is this still a bug and is there another work-around than manually inserting the code for each special character?For example, “\u00e4” for each “ä”? That would be quite a mess... Thank you very much 🙂

I have started animating using Adobe After Effects CC 2015 and I have some issues regarding layers.I am aware that I can trim them using option and the bracket keys, however, what I wanted to do was to split the layer so that it has a gap in between.For instance, layer 1 is visible from 0:00 to 1:00, but what I wanted was to make it appear again at 2:00, leaving a blank section in the middle, from 1:00 to 2:00.The only way I found to do this was to duplicate the layer then adjusting, yet it requires a huge amount of layers.Is there any way of making it in the same layer?

I currently have version 24.6.2 of After Effects, but I want to use After Effects version 24.3! I want to use both and keep both versions on my Mac, but it's not giving me the option too. Does it not exist or is there anyway to make both co-exist?

I often work with colleagues using the German version of AE.Unfortunately, when I pickwhip to different expressions, in the expressions are language-specific, so they do not work correctly.Does anyone have a solution where I do not have to relink every pickwhip to the German-language version  by hand?? I am doing an intro title sequence for someone.It consists of about three separate scrolling credits.    The scroll from bottom to top.I have done the text in Photoshop and imported it into AE.My problem is the text appears jerky as it scrolls up.Is there anyway to get AE to give me the smoothest scroll possible ?

I'm opening AE project files made on the 2021 version in the 2024 version. Whenever I open them, the message  "This project must be converted from version. The original file will be unchanged" Opening the project, all the uploaded movs and image files I added don't show up in the preview, or are completely black. I did follow this tutorial to try and fix the issue, but not only did it not fix the missing assets, but made one of my other projects more confusing. Previously it was entirely black, but now it has these colored squares where the assets are supposed to be. Should also mention that I tried following the tutorial yesterday, but it repeatedly caused Adobe to stop responding. Here are what my project files look like in both versions

Hi, I'm using the After Effect typewriter effect to create text that appears on the right, scrolls leftward, then disappears on the left, all within a fixed portion of the video.  Currently, I have the cursor starting at the rightmost edge of the section, with the justufication set to the right, while shifting the text layer to the left in time with the appearing text, so that the text appears and scrolls to the left, while maintaining the same starting point.  So far, so good. BUT- My issue is with how the text disappears.  Currently I'm using a slightly blurred shape layer as a mask, so the text vanishes softly at the end of its scroll.  (See image)  However, I'd prefer for the text to "un-type" at the leftmost edge of the section, IE: to disappear letter-by-letter, in the inverse of how they appeared.  If anybody has any pointers, I'd be grateful! -Jonathan

I was rendering some video wall stuff and the source was some pro-res files and on export the GPU spiked to 100% and the rendering took about 10x times as long as it should.  When I uninstalled the NotchLC plugin performance went back to normal.  Not sure if this is a notch problem or a Adobe problem but would be nice to be able to disable codecs that might be highjacking native adobe decoding such as ProRes. I still need notch for endcode, but don't need it to gum up the works on decode if this is the performance! 

Bonsoir à tous, Je viens vers vous afin de trouver ce que je fais mal lors d'un export depuis After Effect 2024 sur un mac avec le dernier OS à jour. J'ai une séquence de 15 secondes (ma première) réalisée en apprenant tout de A à Z avec des videos. Une fois ma création finie, je vais dans fichier --> exporter --> ajouter à la file d'attente de rendu. Puis dans la file d'attente de rendu, je clique sur Module de sortie. Ce qui me permet de choisir  dans le menu Format --> Quicktime et surtout dans le menu Couches --> RVB + Alpha car mon but est de n'avoir aucun fond sur cette séquence. Je lance ensuite l'export, aucune erreur, je retrouve mon fichier dans mon dossier. A l'ouverture sur le Mac j'ai une erreur du logiciel Quicktime qui me dit : Le fichier n’est pas compatible avec QuickTime Player. Savez-vous est l'erreur ?Merci par avance pour votre aide, bonne soirée.

Hello, one and all. First time poster. I am having some issues with After Effects and my iMac.I currently use two iMacs.One is at work, and the other is at home.The work one is the space grey model, and the one at home isn’t. I am having issues with the one at home.Every time I open After Effects, it completely crashes the Mac.No error message, nothing, black screen, total wipeout.I have to force shut down the machine and start again.I have projects that always open at work that will crash the home machine.I even tried scaling back one project as it’s quite large, but it still crashed the home machine.Even if I set up a new project, it will crash. I thought it might be the RAM, as when I first got this machine, there was only 8GB installed and my work one has 32GB so I updated the machine at home to 32 GB. After I had updated the RAM, I managed to open a project.Thinking I had fixed it, I opened another project, and it crashed again.I got a project to open in s
