Hello everyone -I watched this tutorial here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0LubhEFe40&t=40sI can't find this tool mentioned even by going through every panel / workspace "Tool creates mask".I have a layer I imported from Illustrator and converted to shapes, and now I want to create a mask on that layer. Is that possible? It looks like this "tool creates mask" button is the one I want, but I can't seem to find it in After Effects 2023.Thanks!

I'm an editor and after clearing my disk cache in ae, I've noticed that whenever I add MBL to an adjustment layer or a composition, the whole screen turns black. I've tried clearing my temp folder and restarting my pc but nothing changes. It's never happened before and I can't seem to find a way to fix the problem. (Caps Lock isn't on)

Hello team, I have a brand new W11 computer, Nvidia RTX A1000 6GB, 32GB ram, everything is up to date.All CC software launches and works correctly, except After Effects and Media Encoder.from time to timeThis problem is quite annoying, the software launches correctly from time to time after 4 or 5 attempts.There's no particular plugin installed yet.I've tried different versions of CC from 23.0 to 24.1 and it's always the same.I don't understand why some applications launch correctly and not these two.

When I try to edit my clip with audio from Premiere Pro in After Effects via Adobe Dynamic Link, I always end up getting quieter sound in After Effects for some reason.My audio file is in stereo, there are no effects applied in Premiere Pro.

I need 50 stars sligned the same way in a circle. I'm nearly there, but the problem is that my stars align according to the degree they're sitting in (red stars).  The image below is what I am trying to do with the Repeater Effect for my star. I need my stars all aligned the same way, like this:What setting do I need to change in the repeater effect? I'm completely stumped. Thank you in advance for any help with this.

Hello!Is there a way to actually call the regular After-Effects color picker through extendscript?$.colorPicker() seem to ignore the "Use System Color Picker" pref and always uses the ms-paint style one.Here's an example of it working: https://youtu.be/gtewHvmykIk?t=168 I can't find anything in the documentation and I can't seem to find a lot of info about this.It's really important because the windows system color picker actually can't pick colors.Thank you.  Saar

I rendered a video and sent  to my phone for control but I can't play the video in my phone or other devices. I tried 24-29,97-30-60-120 fps and 20-30 sec. periot videos but nothing changed.  Video playing well on the pc but mobile devices can't open it? What's the problem? How can I fix it?

I'd like to see/edit the coordinates of an individual vertex on a path.  All I can see/edit is the position of the layer.  I can move the vertex, but I need some of the vertices to be in precise locations.  Any way to do this?

Hello, I built a script that checks a variable. If the variable is OK, the script continues but if it's not, I would like to stop the script. Is it possible? I noticed that some UI blocks could do it (open file dialog, save dialog, ...) but I'm looking for a simpler block (just the "stop script" function). The only workaround I've found so far is to prompt an alert and intentionally provoke an error (but it's not the cleanest solution &#x1f605)...

I just finished a render in Maya and wanted to work with the extractor effect. But when I click on a chanel to bring up my render passes, the extractor menu does not come up. How do you fix this? I have restarted twice and it still doesn't work. 

Hi, when I working with AE an cinema 4D, I get this error when I import '.aec' file. How can I fix it? 

How do i fix this issue?   So far I tried:- upgrading from OS 13 to 14 Sonoma- reinstalling AE, resetting prefferences- turning off notiifcation of missing fonts- doing the 'reset fonts' thing in FontBook Thanks  

Bonjour, lorsque je mets un rendu dans la liste d'attente d'After effect et que j'appuie sur le bouton pour aller dans Media Encoder, mon After s'en va... et la correspondance ne fait pas à tous les coups. J'ai pourtant installer After en premier qui m'a demandé si je voulais le Media Encoder correspondant. Donc je suis sure qu'ils se correspondent mais il y a incompatibilté. Help! 

Hi everyone,After much contemplation, I finally bought Creative Cloud License, and installed After Effects, and it's not working! At first, installed version 22.3 (Apple silicon), installs perfectly, but software stuck at loading screen.Mac tells me to close unresponsive app.On doing so, I receive a crash report, which I send to Adobe (I will attach it here)On second attempt, I uninstalled this version and installed ver 22.2.1 (probably Intel) and it's the same again. I'm using M1 Macbook Air, 16GB RAM, with macOS Monterey 12.3.1. Please suggest what I should do?Help please! :'(

After Effects speed performance is dropping.  Running AE 2023, Mac Studio M1 with 52GB ram allocated to AE.  Scrubbing through video has become virtually impossible even at 1/3 resolution.  Cannot upgrade to a higher version since plugins like Knoll Light factory and other industry standard effects cannot run or be installed...even with Rosetta.

Hi! I'm having this problem with the CC Repetile effect and changing the position of it. The idea is to get the CC Repetile effect on a textblock, with drop shadow so I can adjust the space between the words. The problem is that I want the text to move sideways, so I've just changed the position sideways, but the textblock is hacky/glitchy/don't know the exact word here.  Is there something I'm missing or is it just the way it goes with the CC Repetile effect? Thanks! 

I'm pretty new to After Effects, so I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong here, but I cannot figure out what it is. Every time I use the Camera Tracker to track text into a scene, the text comes out LUDICROUSLY large. I end up setting the font size to 0.1px, and it's still very large. Too large to fit on the screen in most cases. This isn't specific to any particular clip - it's been that way in every clip I've ever tried to track text into. I'm currently trying to track a date stamp into a scene - simply 'Monday, Nov 7'. With the font size set to 0.1px and the vertical/horizontal scales set to 40%, this text horizontally crosses 40% of the screen in a 4k composition. After Effects won't let me set the font size to anything smaller than 0.1px. While 0.1px font size with 40% scaling does get me to a workable size, this is still unusable because the stroke size set to 0.01 (the minimum allowed) is so chunky it covers half of the text. I made a clip on my laptop but my laptop is too bad to render it, so I used my friends laptop to render the clip and then these lines started to pop up. I didnt think much of it and rendered it but it came out the same way. Anyone have any ideas to fix it? The picture of whats showing up is attached, you can see the small line on it running through the text and also on one of the clips this X shows up. If anyone has any ideas to fix this please help.  

Hello, first, I just want to say that I appreciate any potential help and guidance that can be provided.I create shot tracers for Golf videos.As of now, I have a pretty solid working method that I have been using. However, there is one small thing that continues to elude me, despite my extensive research. Essentially (as an example), I am trying to create a line or expression where I can say:"I want the stroke to start at 20px in width. I only want to start tapering once the stroke is 50% revealed.Once it is 50% revealed, I would like to blend to 10px for the next 10%, and then keep the 10px width for the remaining 40% of the stroke"I have pasted in a screenshot of what I am trying to accomplish.Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I am being unclear in any way. Thanks! 

Hey everyone!The After Effects SDK has grown on me over the past weeks, but there is one question i keep wondering about... What license does the SDK code have? Is there a document specifying in what ways i can use the Headers/ C-Files of the Examples folder? I would expect them to be licensed under MIT or similar, but after much searching i could not find the answer to this.. Help would be greatly appreciated!Thanks,Felix

HiI would like to try out the demo solution called Commando. It doesn't come with a solution project for windows, only mac. What would be the best way to set that up manually in VS2023?I have tried this:1. Start with Artie first and veryfied that it works.2. Replaced the content of Artie.cpp with the content of Commando.cpp.3. Replaced the content of Artie_PIPL.r with the content of Commando_PIPL.r4. Added Commando_Strings.cpp, Commando.h and Commando_Strings.h to the solution. That doesn't work. When I build I get the following error:"Severity Code Description Project File Line Suppression StateError C2338 static_assert failed: 'Windows headers require the default packing option. Changing this can lead to memory corruption. This diagnostic can be disabled by building with WINDOWS_IGNORE_PACKING_MISMATCH defined.'
