After Effects

hi, i just made a character and rigged is. This was all done in 6000x6000pixel composition. I now need to scale it down to fit a 1920x1080 composition. I already tried connecting all the layers that are not parented to and null and scale it down, but that doesn't work for me. Is there something i am not doing correct or is there another way of doing it?

Hi, I've just upgraded to an Apple M2 MAX laptop (from a 2019 intel one), and would like to know if version 23 of After Effects (and Premiere) work better and is more stable than version 24? I'm about to install the apps, so would appreciate a heads up before I waste my time installing 24 (which I've read has many problems, or did at least). Cheers.

I want to get the position of the mouse when the user clicks in the comp window. I can get the mouse position using OS calls, but I want the relative position, exactly like PF_Param_POINT does it when you press that target button next to the parameter value. I though about geting the size and position of the comp and then calculate the mouse position using the OS mouse calls, but I don't know how to get the position and size of the comp. Another option would be to add a hidden PF_Param_POINT, and force the activation of the pick tool from the parameter, but I didn't find a way to activate it without user input. Any ideas?

whenever I use after effects specially Mocha it crashes down and says my 16 Ram isn"t enough

Hello, I've been expieriencing a lot of bugs and errors especially connected to low memory warnings and the disability to preview my work even if its only raw audio footage on 23.4 (tried to downgrade onto nearly every other version but it did not help). A lot of friends told me that older AE versions (2021,2020) work better in that case. I've tried to downgrade but the only options I get on creative cloud are all version until 22.0. So here's my question: Is it still possible to downgrade onto 2021 After Effects versions? I'd be helpful for any kind of help.

Working on some tests recently-- trying to open a dialog box in Global Setup for the user to enter a value, and then store said value. The box opens, but each time it defaults to "Dialog was Cancelled," without having the opportunity to enter any values. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the dialog code, or perhaps theres some caveat to doing this in global setup. I have a project that I've inherited. It used the Symbol font. I see that it does not show up on Mac or PC. It does however work fine in Illustrator.  Is there a reason for this? I can't find a workaround Dave 

When I click on “Create Reference Frame” I get the following error: After Effects error: Can't import as a sequence. Found no matches for the selected file name.I noticed one thing This error appears in Sony S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 color space (I tried After Effects versions 2020-2024) and this error appears everywhere.In other color spaces everything works fineThanks for your time,hope you can help me to solve this problem.P.s After Effects I used pure without plugins or anything else

Is there any way I can parent or link similar effects together such that I don't have to manually change every layer's effect everytime I have a change? Thanks for the help!

I want to contain this foam effect so that it stays within the frame. I will be using this comp in another one in several places so that the foam looks a single molecule. So when it drifts out of frame, it cuts it off in the other comp. Is there a way to make it stay in frame?  

Hi I am trying to turn this PNG to a spinning 3d logo. I have trouble when I go to auto-trace it. The holes in the B are not there they are part of the logo. I want it to be able to see through. Any help would be awesome. 

So when I Open Recent and get file... make changes... save... it doesn't save in the folder it exists in - but saves in the last project folder I was in beforehand. So many times I save a file and can't find it all because it saves to the last folder I was in, not the folder Open Recent pulls it from. So annoying PLEASE FIX!!! 

Since 23.6 I'm getting multiple crashes per day, on different projects. 16 inch 2019, 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7Ventura These are super ugly crashes and they're ruining my deadlines.

I am currently working on a door opening animation.  To do this, I created three layers: the front door, the back door and the edge. I created a vectorlayer for the edge and then transformed all three layers into 3D layers. Afterwards I connected the edge and the back layer to the front. Then I animated the transformation keyframing the y-rotation on the front layer and started animating the edge using path keyframes. This works perfectly fine. But as soon as I preview my animation in the parent composition the path gets distorted and looks differently from what I see in the original composition. The problem gets even worse when changing to the top composition. On the composition layers are no other transformations or effects which could affect the preview of the animation. I already tried turning the 3d layer on the parent composition on and off but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. As a 3d-renderer I'm using the 3d-classic renderer in all compositions. Does anyone

Hey, I'm using CC 2017. Just starting to learn Ae and no matter what I try I cannot get the text from an Illustrator design into Ae as something editable. I've followed all the common instructions, I have: -Separated the nested elements into their own layers (in Illustrator)  -Exported this as a .psd in RGB with Text Editability preservedWhen I import it into After Effects, it comes in as one psd file, not a compisition, and with no layers to reveal. If I select the file and click "layers", the "Convert to Editable Text" function does not appear. Not even greyed out. Help.Thanks for any advice.

Hi Everybody, I have a situation where I want to scale a rounded rectangle (round blob) from one end. However, the shape layer only wants toscale from center, and I can't use stanard scaling because it make the blob all falt and wonky.  Is there some kind of fix or expression to lock the shape layer to one side while scaling as the shape path only? I've tried moving the anchor point and it just resets every time. I've also tried to conert the shape into a bezier path...same thing. 

Hello!I was given a project (self contained on a single hard drive with all assets) that was ready to be used. Another designer created comps and I'm just to fill in names of lower thirds, etc. When I opened the project it said that there was 80 expression errors. I went to one and discovered that there was two ffx files that were included in the hard drive that I needed to install on my copy of AE 42.4.1 (Build 2). I put them in my presets folder and refreshed the Effects & Presets list. Do I need to "relink" the ffx files manually to each expression that is used? I tried retyping the expression as the designer had it to no avail. Any thought on how to have the expression use the ffx files that are now in my presets folder?  

I tried AE 2024 on 3 separate macs, and this plugin still has the same issue. "timed out obtaining dynamiclink server connection".  Or just gets stuck on initialising. Tried closing other processes , all the workarounds suggested here. Would not work. I got it to track in AE 2022. Initialised in 5 secs. I think its a bug in AE2023/24

Hi, I'm having this error message from media encoder when I'm working on AfterEffects (17.0.1) and it is coming up enough to make animating almost undoable at this point.I know this has been raised before many times and Adobe seem rather keen on ignoring it but if anyone can direct me to or give any top tips on how to avoid this i'd appreciate it.Sometimes I can pin down the exact layer or effect that is causing the error from the timecode in the error message but the other day I spent almost an hour workiing on it and still couldn't work out the source.I have tried all 3 of the renderer settings (software only etc.) within Media Encoder and for me it doesn't make any difference.My mac specs, the error message, my render settings and ater effects settings are belowThanks!

When im downloading the mbl plugin it keeps on showing -> Installation Failed The following error occured during installation: Unknown exception is there any fix to that?

Every time I use AE, the Transfer Controsls pane is always too small, so that the Mode and Track Matte drop down menus are not fully legible. When I drag the divider right to expand it, it suddenly snaps to its minimum size. From there I can continue to drag the divider right or left to make the Transfer Controls pane larger or smaller, but I can no longer drag it left past its minimum size to where it its too small to be legible as it was intitially. I've included a screen recording to illustrate the issue I'm experiencing:https://vimeo.com/857931461
