After Effects

Hi, Im currently making an edit and Im trying to make a transition, however when I start parenting a null object, the footage goes completely black. What should I do? 

After effects Initializing components not opening Windows 11? who knows? 

I'm trying to use the shatter effect on a layer but whenever I rotate the shatter camera to match the perspective of the clip the entire clip gets moved as well. How can I rotate the shatter effect without rotating the clip beneath it?

Hi, I've been looking tutorial after tutoria for probably 3 hours.... over how to export a video into a transparent video. as  shown how to do is file - Export - Add to redure queue - render setting: Best Settings - Output Modular: set to quick time, change RGB + Aphla - Queue in AME (media Encoder) but every time it does i still have the black background. when i put in adobe premiere pro  is something wrong with my setting what?  Please someone send help... T-T here is what my setting are.  Thank you for your time. your amazing person. 

I'm continuing on a problem that the community helped me solve a couple of weeks ago. Align two text layers   I have a main text layer that is centred ("CENTER.HEADLINE") and a left justified text layer ("Left justified text") that is left justified to the left side of CENTER.HEADLINE and moves dynamically when I change the headline text.All text is animated.First the "Left justified text" drops down, then CENTER. drops down and the HEADLINE animates - left to right.CENTER. is in the clients brand typeface and HEADLINE is the same typeface but in an outlined version.I've marked it in red to make it more clear.What i've done is I have a hidden Main text layer that is controlled in the Essential graphics panel and have two text layers - one for CENTER and one for HEADLINE wit the two different typefaces and the I used "split" expression and set it to split at "HEA" since the word that is used instead of HEADLINE in the films are constant and the words t

I have some code that works exactly how I'd like it to - however it doesn't work (understandably) when there are commas in the values within the CSV file.  Process I would like to happen: When I select a comp in After Effects and run the script it duplicates the active comp and renames it by concatenating the row's value from the first column to the end of the comp name. Then it looks for text layers in the comp that have the same layer names as the headers in the rest of the CSV row and replace the values if they match. Hi,  I was playing with expression. Suddenly I think of something and wanted to see if I can do that. So generally we take a text layer and write something and then convert it into mathematics. I took a text layer, write an alphabet/word then math round, slider control, and wrote expression and I was happy. All was okay. But suddenly I think what if I want a space between the digit and the percentage? What I have to do then? I was very confident that if I write two alphabets and put a space between them like ‘a b’ instead of a single word or alphabet or if I write ‘ab’ and then put a space after them, then I have space between the digit and percentage. Guess what? Like always it didn’t work. So What I should do or write in coding if I want a space between the digit and ‘%”? 

Hello. the question arose, which expression should be used so that when changing the size of the rectangle, the position of the markers on its corners was changed.I used an expression based on the scaletry{ s = scale [0]/100; L = thisLayer; while (L.hasParent){ s *= L.parent.scale[0]/100; L = L.parent; } w = value; w/s }catch(e){ value; };but it doesn't work for me, because the thickness of the stroke and the size of the markers change during non-proportional scaling. so I decided that changing the position of the markers relative to the size of the rectangle would solve this problem, but I don't know what expression to use for this. Hello,I am creating a composition in AE that contains two separate shape layers of green rectangles: above one set with multiply blend mode with 100% opacity, underneath a normal one with 50% opacity. While I stay in AE I am able to see the effect of transparency of the two rectangles, but when I import the composition into premiere with dynamic link, the transparency is completely lost. I cannot export from AE and then import the file into premiere (even if I tried and still I am not able to see the transparency). I need to use dynamic link because I want to have the flexibility to make any change later on.Someone with the same issue? I doubt this could be a bug, as I encountered the problem in many different versions of the softwares, the latter included. Maybe it's simply not possible to keep the effect between applications? It would be very strange, given that we are evolving so much with AI and lots of other advanced features. PS: both Pr and Ae are the same version.Thank you for

Hello,I've struggled with a weird problem for a while now.After Effects user interface is lagging a lot when working aroung in there. For an example working with keyframes or moving elements around on the preview panel or moving the layers in the timeline... Pretty much everywhere. Even in a project file with only audio file added to the timeline the UI lags... and during preview the audio is having a static effect.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Updated drivers for graphics card, external sound card etc. Tried different settings in Preferences > Preview, Media Cache, Audio hardware etc. Nothing has worked so far. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere all are working fine. The problem only occurs in After Effects.I have the latest AE version.Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon GraphicsInstalled RAM 64 GBGeForce RTX 3070 8GB, latest NVidia Game Ready driversAll of the hard drives are SSD.Win 11PC less than a year old.On my older computer with lower specs the

Hi Ae community. I'm trying to fix an issue I have with my shape layers (text box) expression. Im trying to create a template file with basic text layers, that have coloured backgrounds per line behind the text.I've got sliders working to a point but the box isn't fully responsive to the text length or number of lines. bellow is a screen grab of what I'm experiencing. Hi guys, I'm trying to use Trapcode Particular to make particles and have them move from one grid form into another but can't really make it work.What I came up with was to distribute particles on a grid, create another system with the final grid position but with zero opacity, turn on flocking and make the first system the predator and the second one - prey. The issue I have with this method is that the predator (yellow) particles do not settle in where the grey particles are, they keep on moving. I can create another system and have the particles appear at the end of life of the grey particles, but that's not I what I want. I want the yellow particles simply to move where the grey particles now are.I've been looking for an answer everywhere but can't seem to find one. Any help is very much appreaciated.

Hi Community, Adobe After Effects Question; I am really keen to figure out how to apply a gentle web effect to my 13 second slow motion video?  An example of what I am after is in the attached image and also on the home page of www.geomotion.com.au Any help would be greatly appreciated on the best function to use to do this.

Heads up for After Effects 23 or 24 on Windows:Microsoft's OpenCL and OpenGL Compatibility Pack v. 2311.1 can cause AE to crash on startup with 3rd-party plugins such as those from Boris FX and Maxon/Red Giant. To fix this, open the Microsoft Store app and upgrade to v. 2311.2 or later.

I had a licensing error on after effects so I decided to Uninstall and reinstall the program mid project. It was all working fine until I reopened my project on the newly installed after effects and the videos in the compositions I made either completely disappeared or is stuck on one frame. This is really frustrating as I spent days on this project so far.Any help is really appreciated.ThanksEdit: I've actually researched this a bit more and it turns out after effects is turning the imported clips into only 1 frame long, while the video i import is actually 2 minutes long?! I've tried it in several different projects but the same result each time.Please help with this

Hi I'm still updating dialey and using AE Beta.  Does anyone know if Native AE 24.0 that came out this year is as good and as fast as AE Beta on M1?  I haven't switched back to AE yet as I've been unsure if it has become fully M1 friendly?  thanks.

No After Effects project will open now. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling AE and same. This has happened before but I can't get any resolution now. 

I am very new into expression world, I am experimenting to learn.In this animation I want the text layer (‘Red ball is moving’) to follow the red ball, but the position will be slightly beneath the red ball, it will follow the whole poingpong animation but from below, not like the grey ball, which is exactly aligned with the red ball.I know that if the value is ‘array type’ then I have to be very specific in expression writing, so that after effects know which value I want to manipulate and which one I dnt.Here I specified that I want position [0] to be 100 pixels beneath the red ball.Hence I wrote position [0]-100; But it throws the text away the from the comp and animating it in an odd place, which I dnt want.I don’t know how and what should I write to tell after effects that keep the Y axis same for the text layer.I tried many things like position[1, value], so that Y axis from position remain same, but all end up in error.Please guide me. I am lost.  

I have recently updated to Sonoma mac os. I'm not sure if it's related but I can't get After Effects to work for longer than 5 minutes. It crashed when editing very small files AEP is 171kb. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix due to be released?

everytime i want to edit my videos on After effects a week ago just happen that my Ae software crashes down and close the program without warning. It happens everytime i try to change the font style i got the 23.6.2 after effects version... Pleas somebody help me how to solve this issue. 

Hello everyone, I am adding the .jsx file I extracted from Google Earth Studio to my project and everything is working smoothly. What I want to do is to rotate the text in the place I marked as the track point on the Y axis in the direction my camera is facing. Facing face to face. Because when the direction of my camera changes, the text appears as a reflected image. Does anyone have an expression suggestion for this?

Can anyone help me ? I spent 4 hours, just to import a 3D-object, but its not visible in my camera screens.What setup i have to do ?I already installed the beta version of after effects.Importing obj or glb files works, but i dont see it on the cameras.

Hello, I am following a tutorial., there is happens like magic but my after effects works against me. :@ I want to apply 'trace path'  from creat null from paths. I converted the shape into bazier path, no stroke, no fill, put the anchor point in the middle. then select it and applied 'trace path'. problem is the null is not positioned on the path and on the top middle. (I want it on the top middle point of the path). then I want to be a  parent of another shape so that the shape moves around the path. am so frustrated, what is am doing wrong? why my null is in that odd place?  

Hello there.Here's the problem, yesterday I was working in a project in 24.0.3 version of AE and all was fine.Today I opened same project on the same PC and got ERROR imprting MOV files. "CANNOT READ FROM SOURCE" "UNSOPPORTED COMPRESSION" etc.HOWEVER, if I import SAME mov files in the NEW project all works like a charmAny advice?

HiI have added a preset text effect and it keeps looping. How do I stop that one layer from looping?I have another animation going in the background which I dont want to stop. Just the text animation. I have looked everywhere and can't find the answer. Can someone please help 🙂
