After Effects

What happens to the cache after working in After Effects? It feels like this wasn't the case before or I simply didn't notice much, but now, using After Effects, I consistently find that the cache is over 20 gigs, even though I wouldn't say I'm working with heavy projects or large file sizes. What is this, and is there a way to solve it so that the disk doesn't fill up with this cache so quickly and extensively?

I'm trying to create a mograph with Essential Graphics, but I can't edit range. I've been watching tutorials, and the "edit range" option should be right next to the sliders in the Essential Graphics panel, but they are not. See screenshots. What am I missing? Is it a bug with the latest version of After Effects?

I created a project a few days ago and today i log onto my pc and i try to open it and it instantly open an untilted project instead. i tried relaunch my pc, it still doesn't work. I don't know what to do please help me.

Hello!I want scale a text box from its center for animation. However, the anchor points of the text and box layers are both left-aligned because the box is coded to self-adjust its size to the text. So the the textbox currently scales from the left.Since there seems to be no way of creating a second anchor point for the box that is centered, I'm thinking of parenting both the text and box layers to a null object that has an anchor that is centered to the box. But if the box self-adjusts, that means its center will also change. I want the null object's anchor point to self-adjust to the center of the box layer. I tried using putting the following expression onto the null object's anchor point a = thisComp.layer("LayerName").sourceRectAtTime();height = a.height;width - a.width;top = a.top;left = a.left;x = left + width/2;y = top + height/2;[x,y]; but it won't let me reference the "Size" shape property of the box layer as the "Layer Name". So is it possible to have the null

Hi, I am trying to animate a page turning following a youtube tutorial. My issue lies with the fact that the shadow does not start at the shape edge, but rather away from it, as if the object is lifted. I have tried to lower the object in the 3D plane but the light still seems to bleed through under it, and I have tried just about everything I could think of but to no avail. Am I missing something? Any advice/solutions?  

I think I am potentially experiencing a bug, or maybe a graphics card failure. I am working in a 4k 23.976FPS comp, where I am animating an .EPS file. I have applied the CC Plastic effect and am attempting to animate the light direction. For some reason, this causes the layer to flicker on and off inconsistently. I can change the values of the light direction and it will flicker at different intervals. Is it possiblie this just an issue with the effect and .EPS files? AE Version 23iMac Pro 2017Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB

Hi there!I'm trying to figure out a way to have text on a graph follow the end of a line that's changing scale. The line is animating on through trim paths, and I need the text to follow it, as a label for the line essentially. I need the text to stay the same dimensions as well. I'm relatively new to After Effects, so I'm not too familiar with expressions. Is there an easy way to do this that I'm missing?

Hello,everytime I try to start After Effects 2021 (18.6.4) I'm getting the following message: "After Effects Warnung: Unknown BIB Error, source stream error, CT, 0(83 § 3)" After Effects isn't starting. Is there anybody, who can helb me? Peter    

HI all, I accidentaly uninstalled the Cinema 4D plug-in for After Effect, and after an update of After Effect to 17.1.1, I cannot change the 3d renderer anymore.Can you please tell me how I can install again the plug-in? (because it does not come directly with the AE update apparently). Thank you in advance for your help

Does AE not support OpenType-SVG color fonts like Photoshop and Illustrator yet?

This issue is pretty self-explanitory: I wanted to simply drag the four folders shown in the project pannel in AE so I can add them to my sequence. Each folder had about four or five MP4s inside. When I dragged them over, however, I was met with the error message shown. I can drag the MP4s over individually, but for some reason it doesn't want me dragging the folders. Would anyone happen to know what the heck is going on?

For some reason, in my composition, whenever I start preview it jumps to the last rendered frame. And there's no audio, this has been happening for a week now and i don't know what to do. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ae, i checked all the files, reinstalled, and it just doesn't  work. My specs are gefore rtx 3060 and a ryzen 5700x with 2*8g of ram, if anybody knows that could be causing this 

I was using after effects when all of a sudden whenever I paused my video the screen goes black. If I hit play I can see my video again but the second I pause it the preview goes black again. Also when paused, if I move the time ruler around I still can't see anything. I have no clue what is causing this and it makes editing basically impossible. The only thing I've noticed is on the composition window it says "wireframe" which isn't on my other projects. Hopefully someone knows what may be wrong. 

Adobe stuck in 24.0.2now when I click on a path in a shape it does it's normal select all vert but when you click on a single vert it doesn't deselect the other verts. Then if you go to drag select from off the shape it carries the whole shape moves. The work around is to randomly try clicking on and off the path and trying to drag select. The old way was to just select the path then drag select to grab the vert.  Win 10 64, ryzen 9 or M1 maxrtx 4090

I finally found where the faux bold option has been moved to (dont know why it was necesarry to move, but I digress). When I try to apply to my text, nothing happens.  It works with some fonts, but not the font I need it to work with...which is not helpful. 

For some reason, my After Effects sees grey and dark grey gradient layer from Photoshop, as orange and grey layer. I've tried to change it several times, create a new layer, but it always keeps changing grey to orange.

Hi everyone, I'm using Adobe After Effects 2023 and have few hundred compositions in render queue. Average render time of composition is 8-10 minutes, (all comps do the same thing, the only difference are  source images).Problem is that after few renders, render time increases to 15-16 minutes, then 30 minutes and after that every render is in average 1 hour 40 minutes and keeps increasing. The only way to combat this is to stop rendering, close AE, open it again and then it's back to 8-10 minutes per render. Sometimes even that doesn't help, I need to restart windows. I have intel i7 processor, 32gb ram, gtx 1080ti, m2 ssd + cache ssd.Any idea why this happens?

When I apply the Warp Stabilizer effect, it doesn't initialize, it freeze. Luckily, I downgrade the project to the 2023 version, which does work.

I had multiple user presets that i used alot on the previous after effects version. Ever since this update they disappeared and the user presets menu is even gone now under animations presets! Plz help i got videos waiting to be done😭

Flashing colors warning I don't really know how to describe what this error is, but hopefully the video will clarify: Imported my psb file to AE and dragged a few of the photoshop sequences out of the folder that came with it. Then, to expand how long they stayed in the shot, I used the Interpret Footage feature to increase the number of loops. When I hit play, for some reason it flickers between the black and white farm scene and the color hill and wheat shot. The problem is that those files aren't even in this composition and were never being worked on with this particular project. I don't know how AE drew them in or even where they came from, but I'm not trying to use them. Imported composition and retained their layers > Interpreted footage and increased loops I expand on this in the second tab to show that it swaps with each frame. Please help get rid of the color frames

When I import Character Animator into After Effects I lose the audio tract.  Also when I further import my after effects into Premiere the audio is not there as well. Regards, Mike

I'm working on a large scaIe video. I just have a few questions as I am experiencing memory problems and crashes. Just shooting some ideas with people who understand the bottlenecks of the AE.  I have a about 300 objects in the design which is part of the logo.  I got this really nice wipe effect that which uses a gradient controller to driver the opacity. So it looks really great when effected.This involves putting  in this onto  opacity: C = thisComp.layer("grad").sampleImage(position,[.5,.5],true,time);L = rgbToHsl(C)[2]*100 Are expressions more computational that regular key frames?  With vector images,  does after effects have to use a lot of brain power to 'contiuously rasterize' a small illustrator file by 1000% closer to the size need. Is it better to upscale in illustrator before? There other things like switching  colour profiling to 'fast' which I'm looking at. And 'hardware Accelerate' options. I'm n
