It almost always spills over into some other area, this is a major bug and I really hope you guys have spotted this.  Figured I'd post just incase, but this happens almost all the time. I follow the whole video through, rotobrushing it perfectly, it even previews perfectly in the timeline when I hit play, but when it's rendered it fails and spills over into other areas, meaning that completely irrelavent areas I never told it to mask somehow become masked in the render...I'm using 4k footage, rendering in .mov's, input footage is .mp4's, that's all the info I can give, and I can't be bothered to give anymore sorry, thanks. 

When I opened an older version of After Effects file, there was an icon like this. If click again, it becomes a normal cube icon, and it will never become a two-cube icon again. What kind of case is this?

Latest version on a 2019 MBP with 32GB RAM and Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB. Crashes the entire system during easy tasks (just cutting a video etc) - it just freezes and needs to restart. Happens about once an hour. No 3rd party plugins. Crash report below. Hello,I've developed a plugin that checkouts a layer and displays it on screen. The plugin applies the same transforms as the original layer (position, scale, rotation... even 3D with OpenGL). The problem:When I draw a mask on the solid on which the effect is applied, and I move the mask in the composition, the whole checkout layer moves as well (see images)! Whereas if I apply the mask on the original layer and move it through the comp, the mask will act as "a window", and will only display the section of the layer corresponding to the mask.- What am I missing here ? - Also, why does After Effects display a rectangle as the output and not drawing only the pixels contained within the mask ? Thank you so much

Hi, I'm fairly new to After Effects so I'm still learning the basics, but I wanted a little help with something I've been trying to achieve. I'm looking to create an animated effect where the different object shapes randomly move around within a set area, but don't show the movements so that they jump from position to position. I've attached a gif showing the approximate idea. This is something I've typically done in Photoshop and animated them individually as key frames but is very time-consuming and not quite as 'random'. The two questions I'm facing are, is it possible to just get the objects to move around within a set defined area, rather than the whole comp size, and secondly, how do I create the jumpy/jittery movements and get the object shapes to change position?  

I have an essential graphics book template with light blasts that are light against a black background. I used 'add 'to composite them into the scene, but in Premiere they aren't compositing correctly. I dropped a grey solid to demonstrate the problem in the pictures below. in AE The light blast is not compositing correctly. I am open to ideas. 

I often do things with one value in an array property or want to separate them. Is there any way to use destructuring like in JavaScript to clean up my expressions so we don't have to declare multiple variables to separate them For instance instead of  const elipseScaleX = content("Ellipse Path 1").size[0]; const elipseScaleY = content("Ellipse Path 1").size[1]; Javascript destructuring assignment would just be const [elipseScaleX, elipseScaleY] = content("Ellipse Path 1").size; That syntax doesn't seem to be supported in expressions though. Am I missing something in the docs or is there any plan to add support for this?

Every time I try to type text, I get giant black blobs. I've reset and rebooted and nothing changes this situation. Any ideas about what is going on?

So, i was trying to get the cinema 4d lite version with after effects but every single time that i create a new c4d file in order to get my lite license this error pops up. I dont really understand why it happens, i have tried reinstalling AE but it didnt fix my problem. I would very much appreciate some help, thank you.

Hey, is there any way to save files without having them all composed for other parts of my video? As the graphic is going to be built upon as the video continues so I would need to make adjustments on the same graphic with other compoisitions wihtout remaking the entire graphic. 

Hi, im new to after effects and tried to practice a little bit of 3d animation. But somehow I cant use the cineware effect because it crashes with error code 0 9995. If I try to create a new C4D File it shows me this message:I reinstalled AE multiple times, I reinstalled C4D multiple times, tried different versions, but nothing is working. I'm trying to write an expression that gets the value of a property for each of the next 100 frames and determine if they're all below a certain value. If they are, change a boolean to true and vice versa. Is this possible in the After Effects paradigm? Thanks. 

Hi,Im fairly new to After Effects but i somehwhat know my way around it and have used expressions before to create dropdown menus in mogrts etc. I'm creating a mogrt for an editor and i have a lower third animating in, it is controlled by 'position' keyframes. However, the length of the lower third will be adjusted depending on the amount of text in the box. So ideally, i would need the 2nd keyframe to be editable in length (it also needs to be capped at a specific max length so it doesnt affect the safe zone of the comp). I need this 2nd keyframe to hold for a duration of roughly 6 seconds until it animates out. I think this can be done using the slider control and perhaps a null layer? I would appreciate if someone could help and provide clear instructions as im fairly new to mogrts and expressions. My layers below:

Hi, I'm trying to use the AE script Find and Replace text but it doesn't work at all. I am copying the text I need to change and paste it into the Find text box. The I select all the layers in my comp. Click Find. My text isn't found. What's the issue here? Thanks. 

After effects is showing imported mp4 videos Green in color. Have followed the steps Edit>Preferences>Media&Disk Cache>Empty Disk cache and Clean Database & Cache but still show me the same results. Please suggest

When I now add mbl on my video the vidso goes black and nothing appears. This never seemed to happen for the last 6 months I've had ae for. I feel like it's a ram issue cause I only have 4gb ram. I've also tried downloading again but nothing still? Could you guys help?

Since I switch between audio hardwares often, I get this error a lot and I know how to fix it, thanks to past community posts.The problem here is the error window itself, why can't I just close it? it keeps popping back up when I click on ''ok'' which is my only option, forcing me to shut down After Effects and re-run it. Then I have to adjust my audio hardware preferences before starting anything. Would be real nice to be able to do this without having to shut the program down completely.

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone has a workaround to pick whipping multiple values (like color, below) at once. I know you can parent multiple layers all at the same time, but if I wanted to pick whip multiple color controls to a master controller, I have to pick whip them one by one. Thanks!Matt
