I have never used this key other than to write in capitals. I am constantly having to turn it on and off so I can see my preview then on again. Thanks.
Assigning a keyboard shortcut for "move playhead to cursor" in Premiere saves me thousands of clicks. Is there an equivelant in AE? Can there be?
I could not find an already-existing "idea"/feature request for this. A discussion on this topic exists here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/select-keyframe-at-cti-playhead/m-p/9003274 To restate, some of us need a command (that we can map to a keyboard shortcut) that will select a keyframe(s) at the CTI. There are navigation methods to move around the keyframes but this does not automatically select them. Start with a new General Preference: "Automatically select keyframes at CTI". NOTE that this preference should not interfere with the already existing auto-selection of keyframes by other circumstances. For robustness a new menu command "Select keyframe at CTI" should be added to one of the drop-downs. If keyframes are already selected when the user selects the new command all keyframes will be DESELECTED except the ones at the CTI based on some type of precedence algorithm which will need to be developed. One suggestion to get the ball rollin
These lack from the contextual menu. (and: how are Global Light Angle and Altitude 'Blending Options'?)
Description:Add functionality to copy various property settings from existing Render Queue items (finished or unstarted) and paste them onto other, unstarted queue items. Proposed Workflow:Select/highlight any of the 3 sections: Render Settings, Output Module, or Output To.Extra bonus points if you could select any combination of the 3.Copy to clipboard.Select another unstarted render queue item(s).Paste.If the main comp name is selected, it should be smart enough to paste into the appropriate area(s).If there are multiple Output Modules, it should only update the last output module.Appropriate areas update with the copied settings. Why is this valuable to you?Currently nothing in the Render Queue panel supports copy and paste. This would be easier and significantly faster than making templates, especially for new users who don’t understand the template system. The amount of steps needed for making new templates only feels worthwhile for permanent/heavily used settings.&
A feature which we've sought to develop our own scripts for, is that of being able to check and collect files in an appropriate structure (and character usage/replacement). This is crucial for workflows that utilise DAM/cloud storage. And will likely increase in necessity with time. While external post-collection scripts CAN do the job, they come with their own headaches and errors, so an ideal scenario would be for the flagging, renaming and collection to be done on the fly. Whether this would flag illegal names/characters on import, during production or at the collection point, it would be incredibly useful to be able to force or customise how things get collected.
Would be great that when you see a missing effect it will tell you where that effect came from. I would assume pretty simple to so the ABOUT info within AE so that ease of use when looking for that missing effect/plugin.
I often use the library when using several apps on a project, most often for colours. However it's mad that I can't add to it from AE, particularly for colors! Sometimes I open Illustrator purely to add a color to a library, then go back to AE to do the work. So, in summary, make Libraries in AE more like Ai or Ps, where you can add to it as well as read from it.
Hi Adobe Community! What if Adobe Photoshop and After Effects could have the power of eyedropper tool similar to Adobe Illustrator? It would be great if it could copy all of these elements, fonts, shape, and color; but even better even if it could copy only a certain set.Thank you! 🙂
we need arrow inbuilt, like adobe illustrator, please update it and provide arrows and arrowheads, instead of other paid plugins (3rd party )
*Edit: issues were fixed in Ae 2023 and work fine. Thanks! Here are the issues ranked from the most severe to an inconvenience:1. Range selector animation does not work properly for Hebrew Text:the animation is reversed, for one line you could hack it with setting animation to "start" instead of "end" and reversing the keyframes. with 2 lines you are doomed.https://imgur.com/a/zvqwD4z2. Highlighting/Selecting Text problems:this happens when you have combined text of Hebrew and English or Hebrew and numbers in the same layer or Hebrew with another Hebrew that has a change in size or weight. the situation get's worse when you move the layer, the selected area of the text is changing making it hard to select anything outside the Hebrew lettersHighlighting issues:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-vZuy2v6nK_ScuAm_I3WlI14951E3Qji/view?usp=drivesdkMoving the text makes it worse:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YnDJQ5DeV1EGwiHHJIraeJf7tC-tExzU/view?usp=drivesdk3. Wrong translation for "Sample"
I think it would be great if a mogrt file can be imported into an AE project, where that file will then act as a footage item, and can be dropped into comps as if it were a video file, with the exception that you can twirl open this mogrt layer and adjust it's essential properties, perhaps when importing a mogrt there could even be the option whether to import as footage or as a comp, similar to when importing Illustrator files etc. This would allow for you to import a mogrt into your project as a reference to the mogrt file on drive, that mogrt can then be altered outside the AE project, and it will update, similar to how images or videos will update when changed, this makes it easy to share mogrt assets with your team, where they can use it in a project, and the logic and layout within that mogrt can be updated without them needing to re-import and alt-replace. Not sure how feasible this all is, but I think it would be an interesting way to be able to use mogrts with AE pro
Currently there is no way to play video backwards. This is especially tedious when using rotobrush. Although rotobrush has been designed to work backwards from given frames, currently the only way to actually work backwards with rotobrush is to use the page-up keyboard command. This means you can only work backwards 1 frame at a time, which is very tedious. Other tracking apps easily allow you to track backwards, including the built-in After Effects tracker, as well as Mocha. The fact that the AE mask tracker and motion tracker can track backwards, but rotobrush cannot, seems like an oversight. And while you're at it, you may as well bring back the option for ping-pong in the preview too!
Guide layers and adjustment layers are "special" and work differently to other layers in a timeline. Can we please have a method to differentiate them that's more visible than just using label colors. The AE interface used to show reversed layers with red stripes through them, so presumably the interface code is able to add some degree of textures to layers in the timeline. Even something as simple as a grid, or checkerboard pattern (that works with the label color) would be useful to instantly identify guide layers and adjustment layers in a composition. I have attached a crude mockup but it's really just a conversation starter.
Feature Request Hello, Being new to After Effects but a very long time user of Adobe products (in the print world), could I please make a request: please give us the ability to have a light interface as per Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign et al. For those of us coming from the print side of the street, compulsory dark mode is too much. Many thanks
Please allow Stroke Size <1.0 in Layer Styles Currently, 1.0 is the bottom value.
When distorting a text layer, Corner Pin takes a rectangle of the size of the Comp. This is quite useles. In many situations, we want to distort the bounding box / sourceRectangle; the exact contents of a layer. Please add that as a checkbox to the Corner Pin effect.
I think it would be great if this was an option in the Project Settings, similar to how it worked in Premiere. I find myself color-coding project items quite often, but if you have already used them throughout multiple comps in your project, then it can become hard to keep the label colors consistent. Having an option like this would make organization much more flexible. It already works for the item's name, so why not the label color as well?
Hey,When a layer is off with the eye shut, the layer in the stack should also be grey out (or textured differently).Keys frame would be available and we should be able to move the layer as normal...but we need a visual feedback to easily identify witch layer is on or off.It is confusing to search for the good layer as it is right now in.Premier is doing it well and it should be implemented in AE also.
I have just started looking into Tumult Hype, and it has a feature which I would love to see in After Effects. The graph editor has an animated line that gives you a preview of the speed of motion it will produce. It's a really quick way to preview the effect of adjustments before previewing in the composition. In the screenshot attached, the blue square is moving from bottom to top with the speed indicated by the graph curve. It can also be seen around 8:05 in this YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDwKOhNC_Ag&t=485s
In Warp Stabilizer sometimes I want to only use part of the image for tracking - if a moving object is filling a substantial part of the image it can produce unwanted results. It's possible to manually delete the unwanted tracking points but this is very tedious. It would be very useful to be able to draw rough masks and use only the trackers within (or outside) that mask.
It would be very useful if the 'smoothness' of the Warp Stabilizer could be separated in pan, tilt and roll.Quite often I'd prefer to stabilize much more of the 'roll' than the pan or tilt. But there's no option at the moment.
Hi everyone! When will we see AE take advantage of the performance of modern GPUs to improve workflow and final rendering? This improvement would be very welcome. For years now, Resolve and 3D programs have been implementing more and more GPU usage, but AE has stalled in time. Can we fix this?If it's not a primary guideline I'll understand, but I don't think it's just me who thinks that we could improve app speed a lot with the use of the GPU.Best regards
When a new Project is created, and it is still empty - no assets - the Save command is greyed out. Why?I like to Save my project immediately, so I can't forget, and to start the Auto-Save schedule. Please make Save available always, and make it 'Save As...' when the project is Untitled. Just like other (Adobe) apps do.
Similar to workspaces menu that allows a quick reset for different setups - minimal layout for laptop only, or everything within reach for a 2 monitor setup - it would be great if there was a monitor in which I could quickly choose where I am - just on my laptop travelling, at home with my laptop + 2 monitor setup and all the hard drives, or at some other random location. This would automatically choose media cache and disk cache location and autosave location, rather than having to manually reset each setting when you get back home. The popup message that your media cache location can't be found, could then be used to ask you, 'We can't find your media cache location, choose where you are now', or even better also give you the opportunity to rescan for that hard drive if you happened to forget to reconnect it before you started After Effects or Premiere. It could sit next to the workspaces menu.
