hi guys.Inside a "Material Options" group, it seems that when I select some property in there, the parent.parent group is also selected, so I can't hit DELETE to delete just a "Front Color", "Bevel Ambient", properties for example.It deletes the whole shape or text. I can delete the whole "Material Options" group, but have to recreate all other properties.
For many fonts in the Character window's dropdown, the "sample" is incorrect. For example, in my screenshot, you can see that Baskerville's sample is a generic placeholder sans-serif font, whereas Baskerville is actually serif (as shown in the actual comp on the left). And, I'm using Adobe Typekit's version of Baskerville. If there's any font sample they should get right, I figured it should be that one. There are many other Typekit font samples appearing incorrectly too. I've tried updating and rebooting many times. This is an ongoing issue. Is there any way to make these samples appear correctly? I'm using...- AE, 24.2.1- Mac Sonoma, 14.3.1 Judging by other forums, it looks like this problem has been going on for years, but posting it here anyway. Hopefully someone can help. (Maybe @Douglas_Waterfall ?) Thanks in advance!
This code works perfect on Windows version on many pc's, but doesn't work on MacOS for some reason... Any ideas?
New project. Select multiple compositions, ctr-m for export.Select "Output modules" to set render preset. (having all the comps in the queue selected)Select Output To: new directory path. (having all the comps in the queue selected)Result:One comp has the right name. All the remaining comps loose their names to _mp4.mp4, _mp4_1.mp4, etc.Current solution:Remove the projects from Render Queue and then add them with ctr-m again.Now the comps will have the right output directory path and they will keep their names.System: Windows 10 Pro with updatesAE: 24.3.0 (Build 42) (Beta) but it's been like this throught recent versions.
When you move a layer on the timeline, keyValue() may return an undesired value.tested with AE 2024 and Beta. var proj = app.project; var thisComp = proj.activeItem; var selectedLayers = thisComp.selectedLayers; for (var i = 0; i < selectedLayers.length; i++) { for (var k = 1; k <= selectedLayers[i].text.sourceText.numKeys; k++) { alert(selectedLayers[i].text.sourceText.keyValue(k)) } }
M1 Mac UltramacOS Ventura 13.6.1AE 24.0.3. Imported Prores 4444 and XQ files have luminance level drop when RAM previewing and exporting. The frame you start previewing from and a couple of first frames on the timeline have dropped luminance levels.[Please see the attached video.]If you turn "Quality and sampling" to low preview does not flicker. But you cannot use this for final rendering. Hardware acceleration is turned off for both Import and Export.Color Management or Color Depth settings have no effect. This problem is getting more than annoying because I have not been able to update AE from 23.2.1. Most of my work is Prores originals. No client will accept anything like this. It is getting very hard to justify paying monthly for the Adobe subscription. As a long-time customer, I demand this problem gets proper attention.Can anybody please confirm if this is a known problem? I have been exchanging messages and trying to get help, but so far, nothing has happened. Pr
I teach a High School Animation course and I gave an assignment to use the new 3D features in AE, but when the students drag a GLB file into the project they get an error that AE cannot import the file. I work on the exact same PC specs as the students and the import has worked as expected from day one of public release and the issue cannot be replicated. I got an error dialog box today I've never seen before... This occurred when I was trying to use the SourceRectAtTime from a text layer to define the path of a shape. You can see the expression that caused the crash. I'm a beginner with expressions so probably I should go watch some tutorials to learn the correct way to do this. But still... this project is now un-openable, it crashes before loading the timeline. (I'll need to use a previously saved version from 20 minutes ago and redo a bit of work). I'm surprised that instead of just throwing me a little caution symbol next to the expression and disabling it, that I crashed and corrupted the entire project. That doesn't seem right to me...?
Hey there!It looks like there's an error with how Premiere Pro classifies Rec. 709 footage and how After Effects classifies it.I created a video edit in Premiere and imported the edit into After Effects, and when I attempt to Interpret Footage, I recieve this error (screenshot 1): "after effects warning profile rec.709 is missing, invalud, ior has incorrect file permissions."When I import the file normally, it allows me to interpret footage normally, but I noticed when I look at the settings of the shots, the String refering to their color profile is different:1. File from Premiere = "Profile: Rec. 709"2. File from Import = "Profile: Rec.709 Gamma 2.4"The only workaround is to replace the footage in the comp with the newly imported file. Would love a solve on this as this is typically the way our team handles video edits with animation on top!!
Currently the behaviour when using the 'I' keyboard shortcut, when multiple layers are selected, is to move the CTI to the inPoint of the top-most selected layer in the layer stack. This would be far more useful if it moved the CTI to the inPoint of the group, ie. the earliest inPoint of the multiple selected layers.

I updated to AE 2023 and opened a compositon, but when I toggle the waveform it does not show up and no sound plays. I checked that the audio is on, other apps still provide sound, I double checked the computer's audio output and AE's audio output, etc. and still nothing. When I shortened the clip at the beginning, a solid green bar showed up where the waveform was supposed to be, and when I hit play I heard a loud crackle/static sound, but then it immediately went quiet again and the green bar disappered. I tried rendering the file to see if there would be audio in the mp4, and there was still no sound. Re-installing and utilizing AE 2022, version 22.6.0 (Build 64) was the only was I was able to edit with sound and see the waveform. Windows 11 Pro | AE 23.0.0 (Build 59) Attempted to render and see if sound was in mp4 below (it was not)Re-installing AE 2022 v22.6.0 below Thank you for any help!!!
Someone asked me to troubleshoot a custom script I made for them a few years back. From my understanding, it last worked in AE 2020. They moved on to 2023 and now 2024, but each time they run the script, After Effect hangs showing an everlasting load icon. It sounds very much like what has been going on here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/ae-2021-and-2022-freeze-when-using-script/td-p/12573468 After trying out the script line by line, I discovered that it happens when removing a layer effect, for example via: comp.selectedLayers[0].effect('Sharpen').remove(); The exact code really doesn't matter, whether it's straightforward or via Effects or property. Having .remove() on a layer effect anywhere in the running script or function will make it hang, without exception as far as I could tell. In other situations, like on layers themselves, .remove() doesn't cause the same issue. Interestingly, upon pressing Escape, it does show to ha
OK, so try this: Create an Advenced 3D comp and set an Essential Property (in my case, a color)Nest this comp in a new A3D comp multiples times.Collapse transformations on all these layers.Change the color-EP for all these layers.So far, everything works.Now, turn on the 3d switch for all these layers.Boom - all EP's are cancelled and set to the same value.I have tested and confirmed that it works as expected in Classic 3D.So the bug is in Advanced 3D. See screenshots After Effects 24.1MacOS 14.3
It's one year and a half that i've been reading this tread on this issue and After Effects 23 it's still broke with the same problem. I can't use a software that without any reason show me up the "low memory warning" and needs to be restarted.So yes, I'm paying a monthly fee to have a software that is not updated to the final version, beacuse that version can't do the only thing that a software like that should do: "Play what i'm animating" Please. Fix this
Applying a Clip Marker to an AeMoGRT makes the marker a permanent feature - now each new instance of the AeMoGRT that's dragged into the Timeline, includes the Marker. The marker occurs even when the AeMoGRT is dragged onto another Sequence. This issue has been around for a long while.
Steps:1. Open AE2. Create 2 or more comps3. Select 2 or more comps in project panel and Add to render queue (Ctrl + M), all comps should say "Not yet specified" in Output to4. With all comps in output selected, click on one and set an output locationThe output is only set to that 1 comp with its comp name, other comps paths are not setWhat should happen is other comps should be set to same folder/path with their comp names. When does it work?1. Open AE2. Create 2 or more comps3. Select 1 comp and add it to render queue4. Set an output location to that comp5. Add other comps to render queue (Output to will not say "Not yet specified" but it will be comp names)6. select them all and set an output locationNow all the selected comps will be set to the same folder locationThis bug happens on both Mac and Windows versions.As soon as 1 comp has a set output folder, all the other comps will always follow that folder. But if no comp was ever rendered and no location was ever set (i.e. new

I imported a video into my After Effects project, and after doing so, After Effects appears to be unable to properly cache and therefore won't playback. (See attached screen recording of render indicator.) Removing the video from the project does not fix the problem. I have tried duplicating the Ae project file, moving it to another drive, and resetting my preferences—no dice. Anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it?

In AE 2024, I can select and edit the text in the Comment column, but only while the layer is closed/compact. If I expand the layer in the timeline to see multiple lines of text in the Comment column, I can no longer select or edit the text. This means I have to write my layer comments in a text editor, then copy and paste them to a layer's Comment column. This was not an issue until the latest release.
When a script uses JSON format for configuration,it can be executed correctly by calling the script in the Window menu after After Effects 2024 has launched.However, if the script is docked in the workspace to automatically run when After Effects starts,an error occur stating that JSON is undefined when After Effects is restarted.Of course, you can include json2.js in the script to avoid this problem,but since After Effects already supports JSON,there is no need to take this extra step.This is a test script that you can try out to dock in the workspace and restart After Effects yourself.var jsonString = '{"name":"John", "age":30, "city":"New York"}';try {var jsonObject = JSON.parse(jsonString);alert("JSON.parse successful! The parsed object is:\n" + JSON.stringify(jsonObject, null, 2));} catch (e) {alert("JSON.parse failed, error message:" + e.message);}var panel = (this instanceof Panel) ? this : new Window("palette", "JSON.parse Test", undefined);panel.orientation = "column";var butt
