After Effects

I've got some guide layers in my comp, and on playback within After Effects, they aren't showing. I can see them when paused. My understanding of guide layers is that they show within After Effects, including on preivew, but won't render upon export. At least…that's how they've worked in all my years of experience! Anyway, I'm sure I've got some box checked that I don't know about that's responsible for this. Let me know what you guys know. I am running scripts in After Effects, and the progress dialog appears to allow to long a string in the dialog title. Hi every one. I want to make a website to edit the after effect projects (.aep) files and then render them to make online videos.the scenario is :1- i make some editable aep files and put them into the server in a website2- users get online and put their data into inputs in website (text, logo and  etc.)3- the server must gets the data from user and update the aep files with new data from user4- server renders the data with aerender to make video outputs for user.and the AE must be installed on the server.Are these steps right? can i edit/update aep files with new data with EXTENDSCRIPT?I want to make something like renderforest.com website.another question is how can i make editale aep files? any approach or help or startpoint or anything will be great.thanks.

This is something I use constantly to navigate quickly around the stage to zoom in and out of specific areas so I am just super confused why, after all these years, that would be removed unless it was a mistake.

I want to paint a simple white stroke as the top most layer.That way, it doesn't matter the layers bellow. It could be a shape layer, a text, some footage. Anything would be coverd by that white paint stroke. I've found a way:I create a Solid Layer and place it as top layer. Then I double click on it to open its layer panel, select the Brush Tool and stroke away. Finally I just click the "Paint on trasparent" check box and voilá. That white stroke is over everything else.Only problem is: I can't be accurate. I'm not painting directly on the screen. I'm painting on a separate panel that doesn't show all the content bellow (all the layers bellow). So there is a especificaly spot I need to paint over but is hard to get there.I have to paint over there to see the results over here. There is got to be a smarter way of doing itIt's hard to be accurate when you're blind. I need to paint specifics spots of that of that W letter.

Hi, Hope someone can enlighten me with this codec. The job I'm working on will be displayed on a giant screen. Clients requested that the export should be HAP. I understand this is a Mac feature, not sure how I can have this via After Effects, I did search online and did'nt get much info, can anypne please advise how we can export from AE or Premier? I was on AE25.1 and project load time was just fine (note, this is the time in the startup modal before the full window loads). I updated to version 25.4 and the startup time jumped to >10s. I imagine this is intentional on Adobe's side—maybe some kind of scan was added— but this needs to be fixed/optimized. I even tested the Render only mode and it too experienced significant startup costs.Running on Mac OS Sequoia Mac Mini

Current behaviour:Manual selection with Mouse = displays layer Info in the Info Panel(This is very cool)Switching to the next layer above or below with a keyboard shortcut = Does not Update Info Panel. Expected Behaviour:When a layer is selected the Info panel always shows its information. Why this matters:Cycling through layers using keyboard shortcut and the info being displayed in the Info panel is a fast way of assessing and choosing layers, especially if they do not have meaningful names ThanksTris (P.S. when will keyboard shortcut moveing the timeline to Layer In and Out properly update the timeline marker? This has been a bug for a decade!)When are you going to stop forcing me to tag and remove the title character limit!? 

I've never had this problem before so I'm a bit lost to whats caused it. When I try to use a 3D layer and I select the layer my composition displays this.And if I rotate it and unselect the layer, it becomes distorted like this I've tried to find other people who have this problem but their "solutions" don't seem to overlap with mine. I've got classic 3D on, active camera and 1 view- which seemed to fix similar issues. I'm not really sure what to do.

I've been using After Effects 25.1 recently and noticed a recurring issue when importing .mp3 files—they often get automatically truncated. For instance, a 30-second audio file might only import the first 5 seconds. Even after clearing the cache or renaming the file and re-importing, the problem still occurs. To work around this, I’ve had to re-export the audio through Audition before importing it back into AE, which resolves the issue. Is this a known bug in this version?

Hi, dear community, I'm familiarizing myself (sloooowly) with various TRACKING methods in AE.(Yes, MOCHA is by far the most reliable tool, but still ...)After running 'TRACK CAMERA', when I- draw a shape layer onto an object (frame around a monitor)- and then toggle the layer as a '3D layer' --> it jumps to the right (see attached video). I have already tried centering the anchor point in the shape; to no avail.The footage / clip in the COMP is not scaled in any way.  Many, many thanks in advance & with my very best greetings from Switzerland,Sandro 

When I import my video into AE & drag it into my composition, for some reason background sounds eg music, other diegetic sounds are audible but the actual dialogue from the scene is somehow muted. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I was thinking it could be a compatibility issue / problem with AE compressing audio as maybe the file is too large. Any help appreciated

I’m currently working in a private company as a video editor, and one of our clients recently approached us with a project for their website https://newtoki.com.co/ since this is a webtoon platform, that edit involves long vertical panels with smooth scrolling and gradient backgrounds. The issue I’m facing is unusual: gradients that look perfectly fine in the After Effects preview show heavy banding and even flicker once exported. This happens in both H.264 and ProRes, and it’s especially noticeable in soft sky tones or dark-to-light transitions. I’ve tried higher bitrates, switching to 16/32-bit color, and even exporting image sequences, but the problem still appears. What makes it trickier is that not all panels are affected some render cleanly, while others with the same settings show the banding. Since webtoon edits rely heavily on large gradient areas, this artifact really breaks the flow and makes the final output look unpolished. Has anyone else run into this

hello everyone, I downloaded a template which has only 15 secs composition time. i already extened it to 36 seconds, as long as my video is but I cannot drag the layers to the right:  I found a way on youtube to hit a layer and press CTRL+ALT+T and then I can extend it but then all the animations are very slow or dont move after 15 secs, I saw that there are keyframes where i dragged the right one to the end but now the animation of the selected layer is veeeery slow...  how can i extend all the layers and keep the settings 😕😕 i just want to have the 15 secs video/composition to be 36 secs 😞 thanks a lot

Hello, I try different effects, bu i can't found in AE how replicate the Premiere Pro conversion.The pb is that we haven't the same option to preserve saturation among luminance and others little setting ...The screencapture (sorry it's in french) shows my setting in the Premiere Pro color management panel and i want to do the same directly in AE.Is it possible to replicate this setting ?When we interprate footge in AE, we haven't got any options ...Thank you

Hi all,I'm having an incredibly frustrating issue within the AE 2025. I am trying to do a simple Audio React effect on some layers using an Audio Amplitude layer (created by Keyframe Assistant -> "Convert Audio to Keyframes" selection with the track I am using). Once I remove the Left and Right channel, and open the "Both Channels" slider that is generated, and the moment I interact with any of the slider keyframes or try to add an expression to adjust the threshhold, I get a stopwatch cursor that never goes away. I have to force quit After Effects every time. AE isn't even giving me a "Not Responding", I simply cannot click or type anything within the program. I've tried starting new files and doing the same task, and getting the same result. I've uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects, restarted my computer multiple times. No solve.  This is such a basic effect and is integral to my current project. Hi, I installed Adobe After Effects 2025 and also installed all the Cinema 4D related programs, but I still get the warning message that says "Cinema 4D 2025 must be installed in order to use the Cinema 4D renderer." How can I fix this issue?
