Bug Reports

Every time I go to launch After Effects on my MacBook Pro, it will not stay open for longer than a second and immediately closes without any crash or error notifications. I have tried many different things like uninstalling and reinstalling, launching in safe mode, resetting preferences, restarting the laptop, etc. Nothing seems to fix the problem. I have no plugins installed and have fully updated my Mac. Any suggestions would be really appreciated as I am in an After Effects class and need to get homework done, but cannot continue without fixing this issue.

I can't press play it just swaps tools between selection and hand tool. The preview won't change anymore. I tried to open another composition, but it didn't change. I can't close it only if I force it to close.SystemMacBook Pro M3 MAX 36GBSonoma 14.5

When I work in Premiere and in AfterEffects making vertically formatted videos for TikTok, I have to change the size and position of the clip. Lately, when I export the video, for one frame, the clip moves back to its original position, thus creating a jerky motion. This happens for every clip in a video, so exported it looks really choppy when watching the clips in succession.I tried exporting directly from AE instead of using the Media Encoder, and the problem still persists. Does anytone know why this is happening?

When I try to animate regular English text using Animation Composer or expressions on animator properties, it works smoothly. However, when I try animating RTL text (Arabic or Hebrew), there are some glitches at the beginning of the animation, but the rest of it works fine.Also, when I reset the paragraph, the text refreshes and goes back to normal (as shown in the video).The strange thing is that when I animate the text with keyframes instead of expressions, it works 100% smoothly without any glitches.I'm using After Effects 2024.My device specs are: Xeon E5 2690 v3, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, running Windows 11.

TLDR:This is nothing new and my intention / hope is that someone at Adobe actually sees this so this will finally be fixed. Unintended Behaviour:As soon as I run AfterEffects it creates a folder called 'Adobe' inside the user's Documents Folder.There is no way to change the location where this folder gets created. There is no reason why this should be in the user's Documents folder in the first place.This should simply be with all the other application support files, where it belongs, not where the user stores their personal documents. why this is a Problem:I spend a lot of time making sure my file system (especially and more than any other my Documents folder) is as clean and organized as possible.Yet without any way to change it this folder gets dumped into my very neat and organized folder and it is plainly infuriating.I literally have the options to:a) delete the folder every time I'm done with using AfterEffects (or a number of other Adboe apps with the exact same behavi

Unfortunately, Adobe After Effects no longer starts after the last update. I have already tried to solve the problem by restarting the PC, but without success.   System information: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz (3.19 GHz) RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable) Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise Version 22H2 (64-bit) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 512GB SSD   Could you please check what could be the reason? カラーコードを設定した後に、違う場所で同じカラーを使おうとスポイトでカラーを取ると設定したカラーコードではないものが取れてしまう。

video preview is not being sent to projector in 2025 however 2024 works fine i have tried all different settings but no fix , windows 11  

As the title says the mask from Premiere Pro is missaligned when using "Replace with AE composition" Also do i need to do the keying for the green screen every time i go into AE?

1. I am trying to create a generative fill on a video clip, (I've created 3 reference images for said clip.)2. When clicking 'Generate Fill Layer' my computer will load to then give me a window saying: "After Effects Warning: Unkown Exception." and an all black alpha layer titled 'Fill [followed by the frames]'. Due to what I've read online for possible solutions: I have removed any fonts from my computer that show a warning according to font book. The error still continues. I couldn't find an solution to this problem online, so I hope this error can be fixed with your help. Thank you.

Hola buenas tardes!Tengo un repetido problema con AF, dejé haciendo un render en red, al parecer la red se desconectó por un instante. El programa se cerró. Al abrir de nuevo me pide usarlo en "Safe mode" y desactivar los plugins de terceros.El programa arranca, puedo hacer una composición nueva y agregar un sólido. Cuando intento importar un archivo, se cierra el programa y me aparece un error que dice:"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <18156> <RenderThreadExtension><1> Creating executor with 24 threads" Luego aparece otro error que dice que si el problema continúa me cominique con servicio técnico. Adjunto capturas de pantalla. Hi there,I am experiencing a continuous lagging issue while using the Roto Brush on my 8GB Ram M1 MacBook Pro. Whenever I try to apply it on a clip, it stutters and fails to preview the footage making me unable to proceed. I have searched for this issue and tried every possible troubleshooting such as: 1. Reducing the RAM reserved for other applications and giving After Effects all the installed Rams.2. Clearing the cache and the desk3. Trying other versions of Roto Brush from version 1 to 34. Closing any app working in the background and leaving AF only active.5. Using proxy footage and working with it.6. Updating the AF to its latest version.7. Tried to divide a 2-minute clip into fewer portions and try on everyone individually but I keep facing the same issue and can't use the tool as well. And other workarounds as well but I keep facing the same issue, please provide me with a solution as I need to use this tool ASAP. Thank you. 

I have a new Project. I import a 20 min 360VR video sequence, and drag it into the interface to create a new composition.  After a few seconds, After Effects starts caching the frames into RAM (A green line above the composition timeline.) I can see the RAM usage go up and up very quickly. And will simply keep filling up RAM memory with the cached frames until After Effects errors out.  I can turn this off in each individual composition by going to Composition>Preview and unticking "Cache frames when idle" First. After Effects should not be filling the memory with cached frames. A bit of memory sure. But NOT the whole thing. Especially since I have a nice speedy SSD that I've pointed the cache folders at. Second. There is no option to turn off the Cache Frames when Idle for new compositions. ESPECIALLY given this huge problem that should be an option. I have been trying to find if there is any way of limiting the RAM cache. Either when preview

Hi there, I opened a few months old project which used the Wave Warp effect and noticed it had completely broken, it didn't look like the final render. After some detective work, it seems Adobe increased by x8 the resolution of the effect from version 24.5 to 24.6, but that seems to also have altered the way the "phase" value works.So for example if you had something looping with Phase going from 20° to 70° for the wave to loop, it will not loop accordingly now as the parameters have changed. The solution I found was multiplying all phase values by 8 and that brought things back to normal. But it's a pain and I think the most reasonable would be for Adobe to update the Phase parameter on their end so old projects with Wave Warp still work. Hope it gets solved soon.Thanks

Hi all,Here are three undocumented bugs of sole Cinema4D Composition Renderer (C4DCR) the Support, after a long talks and month wait, finally suggested to post to Community as they don't have an answer.The examples use solids and native AFX plugins, confirmed by a Support agent-expert on their computers.1) c4d_transformation_err.aep - the C4DCR doesn't apply transformations to the nested 3D comps. Here: when such comp is scaled on Y-axis, the rendered result is incorrect.2) c4d_transparency_err.aep - the C4DCR renders artefacts when certain number of layers with transparency overlap. Here: 40 identical solids with mask produce that black box, and it is impossible to increase the number of rays, as the renderer's options are locked to single Quality slider, which can be set to max value 99.3) c4d_zdepth_err.aep - the C4DCR clamps the Z-depth values at some 32000 limit, which makes larger scenes incompatible to such effects as DepthMatte or DepthOfField. Hello, I’m currently working with some plug-ins that are only compatible with After Effects 2022. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to get them to work with After Effects 2023 due to compatibility issues.Would anyone be able to help me with a setup file for version 2022?

Hi all, I am experiencing an issue where the preview rendering is very slow, taking sometimes 30 seconds or more to render after scrubbing and I am trying to figure out why. I have Googled and tried a number of common tips and tricks such as changing the resolution to a quarter, but that doesn't seem to help. Attached are my base computer specs as well as screenshots of my "Previews" "Video Preview" and "Media and Disk Cache" settings in Adobe After Effects 2024. Any and all help/ideas are much appreciated - happy to provide more info if it would be useful as well! Thanks in advance to all the kind souls out there! 

Worked fine in 2024. Now exporting a corrupt file.  Tested it by opening a previous project I did in 2024 (again, worked fine in 2024). Opened that project in 2025. Doesn't work.    

Has anyone found a workaround for this? I tried uninstalling v25.01 and going back to v24.6.3 and it's crashing upon startup as well. I can't even submit a bug report in-app, just a plain white screen pops up and nothing on the menu bar is clickable.  

HelloI'm currently on AE 24, I wish to update to 25 but its the reason to the issue including 24 now...So this issue just started to happen, came out of no where. For the past few weeks, while I'm editing a video AE would randomly shut down with no warnings. This never happened to me before too, my computer was handeling it well it was never crashing, even during a simple rendering it crashes. what annoys me the most is that it just randomly started to happen, it was working really well, rendering it well too. With this issue I have to do so many complex things just top manage to render the video with CC. today all I did was put a clip and then a text, both had NO effects, they were still simple and it just shuts down randomy after 2 minutes.I really need a solution quick as this this is my work, Thank you.I'm currently on a macbook pro 2019 on the latest OS version.

While working with the puppet tool (advanced or legacy), suddenly my comp will no longer render. There are no error messages or any other feedback. The preview just suddenly stops when the layer with the puppet animation should start, and the entire comp fails to render when exported. I've seen a thread  from 4 years ago about this exact problem, but I can't find any solution that works in the new version of After Effects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  (My system is up-to-date, my memory & cache is purged, I have enough memory, and the animation itself is pretty simple)
