This is a bug. Please don't move it to the Discussions tab.

And please don't merge into another unrelated thread. I will report a bug with this thread.

------------------------------------

I made a YouTube video using a keyboard mouse overlay to show what action I'm taking. I hope you can refer to refer to it.

------------------------------------

I was disappointed that there were so many bugs that were not fixed in 24.5, but I was still trying to give it a shot.

However, this bug is pretty serious. Really...

Please see the video I attached.
If you watch the video, you will see that I am shaking the screen.
I'm not using a hand tool, it should release automatically, but that thing is sticky.

To release this sticky, pinned handtool, you'll need to make one more unconditional click.

Here's how I've organized them for your reference.

< What I can be sure of >

  1. Window10 (Tested a total of 14 PCs)
  2. Use WacomTablet
  3. Not related to preferences at all (Especially not related to Spring loaded, Flick panning stuff things)
  4. I've tried all the known Photoshop troubleshooting methods and no improvement.
  5. Even reinstalling Windows does the same thing
  6. Only in 24.5 does this bug occur with certainty. I can't reproduce it at all in earlier versions.

I'm not sure about the >

  1. Mac OS not tested
  2. I couldn't even test if it was a GPU company difference. I and my team all use NVIDIA

And while there are a few threads pointing this out, there doesn't seem to be a proper plan to fix it.

If this is not fixed in 24.6, 24.6 will be equally unusable as 24.5.

(cjbutler 1/12/24: edited title from "not reverting to cursor" to "not seeing mouse up" to reflect latest focus on lost mouse-up as root cause, and not just a stale cursor setting.)

@stevej24077661, definitely not the most efficient when you work for a large corporation that forces all computers to run a specific version of windows 10 enterprise for stability and security reasons. I just bought 12 new tablets and 2 new laptops and they all had to be downgraded to windows 10 to be able to access our network. I've got a hard enough time trying to get my drivers updated let alone the operating system.

@ucmj22 That is what I claimed and reported. Even if the user does not set up any settings and only installs "photoshop" after reinstalling Windows OS, that method sometimes works.
What do you mean by that?
There is an issue with the installation file that is already being deployed.......

Absolutely right, but I thought maybe it would help the Adobe team to narrow in on the problem 🙂

Same, though 'upgrade your operating sytem' doesn't seem like the most efficient of ways to fix it.

I had this issue on Windows 10 - after updating to Windows 11 the issue seems to have gone away.

This still happening a lot, especially with tablets such as Huion in tools like rotate and transform.

I know there has been at least a couple fixes listed in this thread, but here is the one I just found that is pretty simple and it is working for me so far; I'm not sure how or why, but I dont concern myself with such things. BTW, I've been experienceing the same sticky hand issue running 25.0.0 on windows 10 enterprise version 22H2 with NVIDA RTX 4060 and I've never even seen a Wacom tablet in person.

I have flick panning ENabled, because that's the way I like working.

So the bug seems to have nothing to do with this setting.

Can confirm we also have flick panning disabled.
