Camera Raw

When we work out RAW files in Camera Raw, we automatically get XMP files next to the RAW files, in the same folder where the RAW files are located. So far, so good. However, when I work out a JPEG in Camera Raw, and when I want to save the settings to an XMP file, the default location for the XMP file is "C:\Users\Nicolas Mertens\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings." I would prefer to have the XMP file saved next to the JPEG, in the same folder where the JPEG is located. I know that I can navigate from "C:\Users\..." to wherever I want, but that requires a lot of "travel" to the JPEG location. Is there a way of having the same automation for JPEGs as for RAW files? Thank you in advance.

When I create an "Enhanced" DNG in ACR with double the resolution, the file opens fine in Photoshop, showing the larger resolution (now 7296x5472px). However, the same DNG file, when opened in the macOS (11.2.3) Preview app, or opened in another RAW editor like Capture One 21, only shows the file in its original, unenhanced resolution (still 3648x2736px), even though the file size is now 160MB instead of the original 11MB. Why could that be? I tried this with several RAW formats, always with the same result.

Hello! I'm trying to use camera raw to edit my photos but whenever I try to open the who menu is blacked out. My Adobe cloud says the Camera raw is up to date to 13.2 but when the program opens up (either through Bridge or Photoshop), it does say 11.4.1 at the top. I think this might be the issue so I tried manually installing, which only allowed me to do 13.1 so I did that, but still opens up as 11.4.1 with blacked out screen. How can I solve this issue? 

I like some of the features in the new ACR but am having some major performance issues. When I crop, or use gradient tool ACR on my 2018 Mac Mini slows to a crawl. Using OS 11.2.3 and a Sonnet Puck RX 570 eGPU.      {Thread title edited by moderator}

I was directed to the "Cameras Supported by Camera Raw" page on the Adobe site by the customer service rep on chat and my 90D is there, but there is a "No" in the Camera Matching Profile available column.  The customer service rep on chat said that means that the color profile my camera uses is not available.  To me that menas, my images cannot be adjusted???  Am I right?

Hey I'm using Photoshop 2021 on a MAC M1. I'm facing the issue that I cannot load the presets ".xmp" files. Any idea? Was there a format change, are those files no longer supported?

With the newest update, Camera Raw keeps unchecking the Fit in View option (randomly, not with EVERY single image) and when I move from one image to the next, the image is either too zoomed in or not centered. Is this a bug? Some sort of settings change that I am just not aware of? It might seem like a mior thing but it is a HUGE hassle when you are dealing with 1000s of images and are already being inconvenienced but the new change where you can't click on a slider arrow to adjust.

Hi, I have issues with the Camera Raw window on Photoshop. I've seen 2 other posts about the problem, but the solutions aren't what I expect, they bassically say that I should change my screen settings (on the Windows configuration menu) and set to 125% the Scale and Layout section. The problem with this is that it solves the problem but it affects every other program that I use on my laptop (making everything really hard to read).Is there anyone that solved the issue in another way? 

Why are the camera specific profiles for Canon no longer in Adobe Camera Raw. They are there for Nikon and others. When with this be fixed. It's making Camera Raw not useable. 

I edit portraits constantly. The default aspect ratio for the crop tool in Camera Raw is "Custom".  How can I change the default aspect ratio to 8x10, not just for this image, but for all editing from here on out? As it stands I have to select 8x10 for every image I crop, and that just slows down my workflow. It would be easier to select crop and have it set to the aspect ratio I need. Thanks!

After opening the raw file in Camera Raw is it best to apply the Enhance / Super-Resolution first and then apply other edits, presets, etc, or apply the enhance at the end?

I am using Canon EOS R6 camera and I need to convert RAW files to DNG files.  I have a older DNG converter dated 2019 and it will not convert RAW files from Canon R6 camera.  I tried to download a newer version that does support Canon R6, but I get an error message: Server failed to authenticate the request.  I am using MS Edge browser.  Help!

Newly updated Camera Raw 13.1 crashes and freezes the whole Mac laptop when trying to open any raw files in Photoshop. Tried it a few times after restarting. Every time the freeze happens, I can only restart my Mac by force, can't quit Photoshop or force quit. Please fix asap or revert back to the old version, it's affecting project deadlines severely! Not a good start to a super busy week before Xmas.  

Am curious as to why Camera Raw opens with a black screen that is unusable for edits. Is there a work around for this? I've tried to make adjustments in preferences, but nothing works. Any help is appreciated!

According to Creative Cloud update on Mac my Photoshop (22.3) and Camera Raw (13.2) are up to date. However, when I open a raw file in Bridge or Photoshop I am told only 13.1 is opening and the newer "enhance" features are not there.I can't enforce a new update either.Anyone know how to handle this?

Hi there,why does ACR 12.3 not support my GPU (GeForce GTX 1070 TI, lastest Nvidia Studio driver), but LrC 9.3 does?Also, the seamless zooming (none Lr style) does no longer work under ACR 12.3; which might be caused by the GPU problem as well? Kind regards, Thomas 

Good morning,I use OS BIG SUR on Imac Retina Camera Raw 13.1 update, the Mac freezes as soon as I try to work the photo, unable to exit CR, the Mac turns off and restarts. I encountered the same problem with Lightroom Classic and CC I have disabled the GPU, CR works but the workflow is very slow Advice? Thanks in advance

I have 80 new presets I am trying to import into Camera Raw, and I am able to do this quite easily. However, I would like to place them into 8 separate grouped sets, with 10 presets going into each set. For example, I'd like one set to be named landscapes, another named portraits, etc etc.Right now the presets are stored on my hard drive in 10 different folders with the names I want them to be listed under. If I attempt to drag and drop each of those folders into the Camera Raw settings folder, when I go to Camera Raw in Photoshop, I will find all 80 of them individually listed under "User presets." They will all work perfectly well, but now they are all screwed up out of order. If I go back to the Camera Raw settings folder, they will be seen together, there in the individual sets, I saved them into. I have tried to create empty individual sets, in other words, a set in name only with no presets at this moment associated with them. I would then attempt to have my presets saved into th

Super resolution enhanced files generated in camera raw via bridge show the correct resolution in bridge and photoshop, but show the original resolution in Lightroom and other non-Adobe applications (example from Lightroom attached-note it is an enhanced file, with enhanced file size, but reports and displays at the original 26mp)Is this a known limitation or is there an issue writing dimensions to the file that other apps like Lightroom rely on?

I want to try Super Resolution in ACR 13.2. It says I've already updated that version of ACR. But when I open a RAW file in ACR, it says I'm in 13.1 (and doesn't have the Super Resolution feature).
