Captivate

My users want to control the pace of the demo. Is there a way that a viewer can control the speed apart from using the pause and back buttons? What I mean is this, is there a way to increase or decrease the time for all slides at once?   Moderator: no URLs in a question please.

I am an experienced AfterEffects, FCP, and Camtasia user, but new to Captivate. Currently using Captivate CS5.5 and cannot figure why Captivate shows ALL the layers of content when the playbar stops rather than only the layers active at that point in time. Is there a way to defeat this behavior? This driving me absolutely NUTS!! Can't find the answer in other resources. - Thx!

Hello, I activate "self-paced learning" option for a SCORM export.When I leave the quiz before answer, no problem, I come back exactly where I leave the quiz and I can continue it. But, if I leave the quiz after answering and validate my answer I got issue : I come back at the right step but I can't continue, I can't click on the "next step" button. It is as if the button was disabled. Please Help !

When I publish a 2019 CP file as HTML5 the audio doesn't work but when published as MP4 the audio works. Does anyone know of potential solutions?

I posted this same issue a few days ago in another thread but got no response so I am creating a new topic.Captivate removes any dash characters I type or copy and paste into the Closed Caption editor. I can literally watch it takes a phrase like "madness-inducing software" and replaces it with "madnessinducing software". It doesnt matter if I use hypens, en-dashes, or em-dashes. They are removed as soon as the caption box loses focus (like when I click to save captions). I am using Arial as the font so I know the glyphs are available. Why is happening?

I have been desiging graphics in Adobe Illustrator 2021 all day and exporting them as SVG files, then dropping them into my Captivate 2019 file. I am 12 slides in and all of a sudden my most recent file gives me this error message. I can import my other already saved SVG files back in perfectly fine and I even drew a simple circle then exported that as an SVG which imported into Captivate just fine, but for what ever reason this new ones just keeps showing me that error message. This is a screen shot of the SVG file I wanted to import.I tried outlining the text and setting the SVG CSS Properties to - "Presentation Attributes" .as I have seen other threads about SVG import issues that seemed to have resolved around that.  Here is a screen shot of my SVG settings. Also I am running on macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 if that is a factor as well, but it really does seem to just be this one graphic fro what ever reason.

I'm trying to create a custom Cp project that will be used as a skills assessment (quiz). In the elearning module, a learner will have a simulated software on their screen using screenshots and buttons to mimic the actual software to be used on the job. The learner will be prompted with a situation and they need to correctly complete the task by clicking on the "buttons" on the screen within the "software". The project is already created, but I'm not sure how or which default quiz system variables need to be assigned to the correct buttons. When a learner correctly completes a task, each correct button click should increment +1 to then get a score out of the total number of correct clicks. The results just need to appear on the default quiz results slide, and then be reportable on the LMS for all learners. How can I create this kind of custom skills assessment quiz in Captivate using the system variables or possibly using user variables? Hi. I want to create "chapters" for a course. The user can choose the chapter from a main menu and I have custom navigation. I need an indicator to show when a chapter is completed, that will change the chapter-button on the main page. The number of slides for each chapter is yet unknown, so I wanted to make it a bit generic. I will have all the slide labels in a chapter cointain the same word (eyes, nose, mouth, etc. (It's a course about facial comparison)). I thought I could loop through and get check the slide label of each slide at startup, and generate a MAP with [slideNumber, slideState (a custom variable)]. I have triedvar getSlides = cp.model.data.project_main.slides.split(",");I believed getSlides would be an array with all the slides in it, and getSlides.lenght; returns the correct ammount if slides. Yet I am unable to figure out how to access the slide label/slideName/lb.  I have also tried to find out if rouped slides in Captivate end up in an array

As the subject says, I get a fatal error everytime I click on the plus sign to add closed captioning (CC) and/or slide notes.  I select the section of audio for which I want to add the CC, click the plus, and POW!  Fatal error everytime.  I've tried this on multiple projects.  I even created a new blank project, added an audio clip, and attempted to add CC to no avail.  I'm using version 11.5.0.476.  Trying to get our admins to update to the latest version to see if this will fix it, but I doubt it as I cannot find anyone with a similar post.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello: Are there any differences between publishing from a .cptl file versus publishing from a .cptx file? I am most concerned that publishing from a .cptl will leave out information within the zipped package that is needed within our LMS (information that would be provided if published from a .cptx file). Does anyone know whether there are problems publishing a zipped package created from a .cptl file within an LMS? I've looked within this forum but there isn't much available about the difference between .cptl and .cptx - other than one is a template file and one is a project file - but I need to know if there are differences between the file types once the file is published and then uploaded within an LMS. Thank you for any help/suggestions!

Hello.I have researched this to the point of exhaustion and have not found an answer, so please forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere in this forum. I would like learners to be able to skip a question and then come back to the unanswered questions later. I am new to Captivate, but am aware of the Skip setting. What's missing for me with that is a way to be able to flag all unanswered questions with some type of text or symbol. Also to remind learners that there are unanswered questions when they submit so that, if they so choose, they can go back and quickly locate the unanswered questions. It seems to me that what I am asking for is a hybrid between Skip and Submit All, combined with visual hints. Is this actually "a thing" or am I wishful thinking.

Hello,I have 2 issues with importing text to captivate 8.1.If I import text from word document into captivate 8 that contains dashes and bullet points, these characters are missing after import. Where there should be dashes and bullet points there are just double spaces. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?2.I cannot import text via XML. I was just testing this function if it would solve my missing characters problem but when i try to import any XML i get error "Cannot Import XML" and no further details why. I even tried exporting XML, changing just one word in content. Same result. Even if I export XML and try to import it right back without any changes i get the same error.Thanks for any advice,Martin

Hi all,I have a question as I need to publish a CP 2019 module on Sharepoint online.We have found a way to make it work (basically exporting it without the Quiz functionality and not as a zip file, then by exchanging all the "hmtl" and "htm" with "aspx").The only thing that doesn´t work is the glossary widget.All slides work as usual but jumping to the glossary it shows a blank page.I can of course delete the whole glossary and simply not have that function or ideally replace it with something else.Any ideas? 

We usually have learner view our content on PC but somebody tried it on Ipad and it mostly works but towards the end when we come to the quiz slides (9 slides, no "send all" quiz) it bogs down from slide 4.After pressing "submit" on each slide it freezes for up to 20 sec before the next slide appears. CP 2019; both on Safari and Chrome on an Ipad Pro 2018. (Not a processor issue!). I did set the slide length to only 1 sec but to no avail. Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Hello,For Adobe captivate responsive project. While inserting a video inside the fluid box the video resizes on all four sides. In my project, there is a scenario where only the left and the right side of the video should resize instead of resizing on all four sides. Is that possible?If there is a file with such an example please share it would be helpful.

I am trying to install Technical Communication Suite 2019 and while I have managed to make it install and run FrameMaker, it won't install RoboHelp and Captivate properly.When I try to run these programs, I get an Invalid License Number message. And Adobe Support merely points me to paid help or the community.Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

Hi all,Our system uses various Shift + (keys), or Shift + click and also F keys. How would i use this in a simulation? I saw a post saying to just let the user press shift as it doesn't do anything, then the click on the button/box goes to the next slide. However if possible I would like to ensure the user presses Shift (or control). Is there an easy blog or video that would show me exactly how to enter this? I assume there would be a variable where it records that the Shift key was pressed? Or is it best to create a Javascript to record this? Also when using the F keys, the browser overrides the simulation. Is there a way around this?

Using Captivate 11.5/Windows, is there a script or some other option that will disable a browser's Ctrl+S function when viewing a project? The scenario is saving a document in MS Word and allowing the learner to use any method of saving the document (Save button on the QAT, File>Save/Save As, or Ctrl+S). Any help would be muchly appreciated!

Indented bulleted lists are showing as "place-holder" boxes (boxes with an "X")... Instead of the normal indented squares.For example:Above Image: Reguar bullet list with sub-points indented.  Notice the "place-holder" boxes instead of bulleted charactersHow can I resolve this issue?  Is a font missing?  Is there a "default" font I should activate for Captivate?I've tried reinstalling Captivate and activating various versions of fonts.  However, nothing seems to correct the issue.Please Advise.Thank you.-Paul

Hi Captivate legends. I am looking for a work-around to get 360 interactive images working on computers that do not display them inside Captivate (this is a realworld issue). We are running 2019 Release, 11.5.1.499 (no ability to update to later version, I believe this matches Update 3). Published projects and previews properly show the 360 slides, so WebGL in browsers is supported. However, the Captivate 360 slide appears blank (screenshot below), with just a visual visible in the Filmstrip. The process we use currently:Use the 'Add Project Background' to bring the image onto the slide as the + icon is not available.A hotspot can be added and formatted and selected for editing in the Timeline. However the hotspots appear in the 'centre' with seemingly no way to reposition them 'blindly' Has anyone discovered any technique or work-around that will allow us to blindly reposition the hotspot?  Thanks so much. Good day all 🙂 I have a question about creating an interactive video that has quiz/reporting questions throughout. In our school, teachers want to create interactive videos for flipped classroom and asynchronous review materials. Initially the teachers used Camtasia, which was fine, but you can't hide the player controls and the instructors don't want students scrubbing through the videos to answer questions. When they came to me for suggestions, I of course thought of Captivate until I realized they want the quiz questions to be a part of the learners' grades. As far as I know, though, ungraded knowledge check slides are the only types you can include as overlays in an interactive video...correct? If this is true, are there any suggestions on how to create an interactive video quiz that can report a grade? I found this post from ages ago, but it seems a bit cumbersome and as it is a few years old I wonder if there have been any developments or new ideas since.&n
