Captivate

I'm trying the option of using a custom .exe icon in Captivate 4. I'm publishing as an .exe. I've tried a couple of .ico files, but when I click Publish, I get an error that says "Icon file is incorrect, proper icon may not be generated. Do you want to continue?" What is a proper icon? Have any of you successfully assigned a custom icon to your published executables? Thanks.

Hello Community, I am reaching out because I am new to Adobe Captivate and to creating SCORM and AICC packages. My goal is to create a basic SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and AICC package that would make use of the certification widget to display the learner's name and id. These pieces of informations will be retrieved from LMS.I have used the $$cpQuizInfoStudentName$$ and $$cpQuizInfoStudentID$$ variables. Moreover, I have extracted the id by executing the following javascript code: window.cpAPIInterface.setVariableValue("cpQuizInfoStudentID", objLMS.GetStudentID()); Please see below the widget format. I have published it as having the eLearning outputs defined above (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and AICC package) but unfortunately for AICC it is not working. The certification widget does not appear, moreover the ID value which is returned is 0. I would greatly appreciate if you could help me identify the issue. Thank you! 

HiI have completed the build of a large elearning course and have utilised the Captivate TOC. I now need to introduce a branch at the beginning of the course and include all topics for one Type of user and exclude about 3 topics for the different Type of user. I would still like to use the TOC. Is there a way I can setup branching and still use the TOC. I am stuck trying to figure out how to do this? Would appreciate any advice.Thanks

Hi, I am getting this error message when trying to open a file that my predecessor worked on a couple of months ago.  I have gone to the bak file and tried to open it by renaming it without the bak but when I try to open it I get the same error message. Our IT section and myself have also run the Dcache program recommended by Adobe but it wasnt able to find the file. Is there anything else that I can do to try and get this file open? 

I am trying to add a warning to prevent the browser window from being closed before the end of a training session.I've hooked up a beforeunload event handler, setting the event return parameters and return value:  leavePage = function leavePage(evt) { var confirmationMessage = 'Leaving this page your progress will not be saved?'; (evt || window.event).returnValue = confirmationMessage; //IE (evt || window.event).defaultPrevented = true; return confirmationMessage; //Chrome } window.addEventListener("beforeunload", leavePage);  This works as far as being called if the browser close button is clicked, popping up a dialog (chrome ignores the return message, but IE11 includes it).I am testing using SCORM cloud, but in either browser it looks like SCORM cloud also seems to pick up the event, and close the session even if the dialog box "Cancel" is clicked. This has been posted for previous versions of Captivate. I have Captivate 19 and just this week the text adjustment (font, size, color, etc) options are missing from the Properties panel. Captivate is fairly useless without being able to format text! I was able to get it to reappear on two separate occasions by opening a new project, but this morning that is not working. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!

At work, I have been handed some old.cp files created circa 2009. They were used to build a SCORM package in Flash for use in a course on Moodle. Flash is of course at its end-of-life so we now have to rebuild that package in HTML5 instead.What is the latest version of Captivate that will give me the ability to open .cp files so I can view them and resave as .cptx?I do not know in which version the .cp files were originally created as they were created by a contractor.

Is it possible to have the Visible Form (Tool Tips) appear at the bottom of a Text Field instead of on top?Currently, the Form Fields appears on top overlaping the Field questions which are also located on top of the Text Fields.   

I cannot fully map the control bar in the project. In the skin editor I cannot select the functions "play", "rewind", "continue" and "move back". How can I add these features to my control bar?

Hi, I'm working on a Captivate project (Captivate 2019) for the Moodle LMS. The project has 5 slides, out of which 2 slides have videos followed by 4 slides which contain quiz questions. I'm facing a couple of issues: 1) When the user goes through a module and stops in between and re-enters, it makes them go through the entire module from the beginning. 2) When the user re-enters a module, they get a pop up (image attached).If they press 'cancel' (because they want to go through the video again) it takes them to the quiz instead. There should ideally be an option to restart the video from the beginning.  I am not able to understand if this is a Captivate issue or an issue with the client's LMS? Thanks

How can I copy individual slides into a new captivate project?  

Hello all, I have searched everywhere and found various sites on using decache to help recover a corrreupted captivate file. Unfortunately in my cache folders there is not a recent one that has all the 5 folders mentioned with items in it. This is even though I have been saving my work everyday. The first time I see all 5 folders with items is like 2 weeks. Is there anything anyone can share to help me from starting over from scratch?

I am very new to Captivate and having big issues with time. I will explain, I am using the standard quiz templates and buttons etc. When the user has answered the question and clicks on to continue, before the next slide appears is far to long a time. How can this be reduced to a min say 0.1sec. Also, in the finished quiz/project can the audio/fast forward bar at the bottom be removed?

Hi,this may sound silly, but I'm not able to copy and paste an image from Photoshop into CP5 (german version).In older versions of Captivate I often copied an imgage in PS and pasted it simply via CTRL+V into the Captivate-Slide.With Captivate 5 this doesn't seem to work any more, it simply ignores the "Paste"-command. Copy and Paste only works for images, that are copied within Captivate.It's not an Windows-Problem, Copy and Paste between Photoshop and all other applications works fine.Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?best regardsHolger

Dear all,I am a speech and language therapy lecturer and have been using adobe captivate to present online phonetic transcription quizzes for my students. These are bedded into the virtual learning environment and  their grade is fed into that system's grade centre. I have recently up-graded adobe captivate to 2019 because of a few glitches and see that it still uses flash player. I am concerned and annoyed by this to be honest because flash player is now increasingly not being supported - and our University system has stipulated that they won't support it from this December. Can any of you relate to this and do any of you have advice for me moving forward with these quizzes which will not work this time next year in our virtual learning environment?Thank you, Jill

In captivate 19, when we using the drop down template, in the time of resume the course in Reload Player the course score is setting to 0. If we delete the drop down page from the course, it is working fine. Please suggest some solution.

...Hello Captivaters !... 😉Is there a way to delete the cookies created, I assume, by Captivate projects ?...I explain my problem :I want to update many projects which I had already published on Internet.But when I try to view them after updated them (if I had played them before), many problems occurs such as the "loading turning thing" appearing, or the slides do not play correctly (in all browsers).I manage to correct this by deleting the cookies and my history of the browser, then everything is ok.But I can't  (and don't want to) force my viewers to do the same !...So is there a way to ask Captivate to refresh (or delete) these cookies when starting a project ?Happy sunday and happy Captivating !...😉... 

Hello, I have Adobe Captivate 2019, version 11.0.1.266. I have a mac and I use Chrome as my default. I am no longer able to preview my projects and I am getting an error that says "cannot open project." This is a new issue for me and consistent across all projects that I open. I haven't changed any settings and have never had this issue.  Suggestions? 

Hi, I'm running Tincan content on a Learndash LMS. When a student goes to resume the tincan content the resume dialog box (pictured below) is missing the "OK". I have inspected the page using Google's Inspect tool to identify that the text "OK" is actually missing (that is it is not a text color css problem). this problem is not new, it has been occuring for several years, with several versions of Captivate. Any ideas on how I can reinsert the "Ok"? Cheers,Rob.

Hi,  Is there anyway to reduce the gap between the question and option button in a quiz?

When trying to activate Captivate I am being asked for a serial number. I am logged in to my CC account and have been given a new license to Captivate through my organization. The organization says that it does not have a serial number to provide to me. Why is Captivate not activating under my existing CC account? Is it possible that I am going to have to run a separate CC account to activate Captivate?

Hello,I'm new to adobe captivate and still trying to learn. The problem I'm experiencing is that I cannot open a file and the template I downloaded from the Adobe webiste (league), and I'm stuck with this project.The message received is:Adobe Captivate could not open "files_2020_06_League_45.cptx." Ensure that:-the file is not open already.-the file is not damaged.-the hard disk has sufficient resources.......Has anyone experience this issue before and can perhaps share some information on how to fix this.Thank you.Gabby
