Unable to create a new project in any folder other than Documents. The Documents folder doesn't work as a project location at my company because they have it as a shortcut folder to our network drives which has file locking security that cannot be bypassed. This causes new projects to only get half created due to the locking and scanning taking place while new files are being created. One work around we've found is to sign completely out of character animator with a session already open and this seems to cause the files to migrate but the success is hit or miss and is not 100% effective. Why can't New Project location be selected rather than only defaulting to an unusable location for our corporate environment?
I’m working on a character design, and I’ve run into a problem when creating a draggable handle for the arm. As shown in the attached images, when I move the arm into the scene, it doesn’t behave as expected—there seems to be some distortion.Does anyone know why this might be happening or how to fix it? Could it be an issue with the rigging, weight painting, or the pivot point of the draggable handle? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
My webcam is messed up (very blurry because i put on a tape on it before) I want to suggest if I can use my phone as a webcam. Droidcam is what I use (using USB), I hope Character Animator detects it too although I know that it is not listed in the 'Camera' or 'Imaging devices' in Device Manager. I am really hoping for this to be added.
I have two separate avatars for Adobe Character Animator. We are using them for a podcast, and we want to make them talk individually on a single computer. When one person speaks, one avatar should be active, and when the other speaks, the second avatar should take over. However, we only have one computer. Is this possible?
If you had files already for a avatar that animate in animate cc, what is the easiest way to get these into adobe character animator, i realize i am missing speaking mouth shapes, but i have a lot of these done and more scratching my head as i see options for illustator and photoshop but not animate cc for doing this. this is a example of what i'm working with, i also have the fla for this.... i want to take the front view and have a live avatar for doing video reviews. these are aleady split apart in pieces at least, i think TOO many pieces. https://archive.org/details/blue-jellyneo-idle-pets
Hey Gang! I just watched the @OkaySamurai tutorial on Motion Library [see here] and it was very helpful! I followed every step and it worked on my rig. My problem occurs when I have multiple body angles [1. Front Body 2. Left Profile Body and 3. Right Profile Body]. Motion only applies to one rig [Front Rig] and not the other rigs [2. Left Profile or 3. Right Profile]. Below you'll see a snapshot of 1. Rigging Structure + 2. Properties Panel. Please Note:Each body [1. Front 2. Left and 3. Right] has a fully set up rig within them. The rigs follow the Okay Samurai Tutorial. The problem though is that only the Front Body works. I cannot assign motions from the Motion Library to the other rigs.i try to turn off [Make Invisible] the front rig and turn on [Make Visible] either of the other two rigs. What can I do differently to make the other two rigs [1. Left Profile and 2. Right Profile] work with motions from the Motion Library??
I'm working on a late 2013 Mac Pro with no sound input device found. I'm unable to record in Character Animator. When I hit record, a notification window pops up and says "The selected audio device has no input channels available. Do you want to open the Audio Hardware preferences?" I click the Preferences button and see "After Effects 13.8 (Not working) in the Default Input field. When I click this field, the only option given is "No Input".Would simply attaching an external microphone solve the problem? (I don't have one or else I'd try). I don't need to record sound, I only what to record silent animations.
Hi,Character Animator has many great built-in tools for adding dynamic motion and animations with swap sets, cycle layers, controllers, replays, magnets, etc. But I think it would be really awesome to have a pin or point added on the mesh in record mode that can be tagged as a "null layer" that is attached to the .chproj file or exported to After Effects as a 2D position tracker for adding extra elements in the compositing phase that can be connected to a character or an animated object. This would be valuable in that AE's plethora of built-in and third-party effects can be added to 2D characters with a direct position link of a layer animated in Ch. without having to track or position manually. Also, to not have to pre-render animated effects into image sequences to bring them into Ch.-Andy
ver:25.0OS: Win 11Expected result: 1) Lip sync fail from transcribe actually shows you WHERE it failed2) dictionary with exhaustive list of proper nouns3) Better with slang and accentsActual result: 1) Places error at the very beginning of track which is of no help.2) Clearly doesn't recognize some proper nouns like Panera Bread3) Bad with slang and accents I am on the newest version of CA 25.0 and when I try to improve visemes with transcribe + audio and when I get a "compute lip sync failed' error, it always places the marker at the very beginning of the track. It never places it where the error occurrs, so I have to go through the extreme tedium of having to split the track into a million pieces and test each piece. It's truly ridiculous. In my most recent issue, I tested EVERY part of the following sentence "kind of reminds me of a tiny panera bread" and had to change it to "kine uh reminds of a tiny pan era bred". I'm doing a heavy NY/Italian accent. It didn't reco
Hey Dave,This is Milind from Philly.More than a year ago I started learning Ch An from your videos. I learned essential basics and just with that, even without learning the entire software, I am able to achieve some success. Here is my latest work on youtube. https://youtube.com/shorts/QZ-qAJz4_mk?si=c36W0O2P4XlufvpaLet me know if you have any suggestions for improvement. Thanks again.Best Regards
Hello,I really like the way parallaxing works with noses and was wondering if theres any way i could rig up more than one layer to the nose tag.I first attempted this by following a guide by OkaySamurai and making the object a "face" and simulating parallax through that method. While this does achieve somewhat of the look I am looking for, I don't particularily care for the fact that the parallaxing items exceed the bounds of my character and will parallax not only when i turn my head but tilt it side to side as well.Is there a workaround method or a feature I am missing that will attach and parallax an item to my character's face, similar to a nose? Thanks for your time!Marcus
Uninstalling and reinstalling the Character Animator app does not solve the problem.Previous .ia files I used in ealrier (pre-2023) versions now will not import into Character Animato; the files are greyed out. I created a test ellipse in Illustrator 2023 and saved it in Illustrator CC (legacy) format and it also would not import.
Hi There,I have have a swap set of eyes, to get any eye gaze movement on the second set of pupils I have to add it as a behavior but when I do the Eyeball layers in the swap set don't provide Pupil Range even though they are tagged for it. Here's a video showing my puppet file. For this Angry Eyes swap set I'm aiming for eye gaze movement within a smaller area closer to the lid. Any recommendations on how to I can get the Pupil Range working would be much appreciated! Lisa
I have just purchased a Logitech C525 webcam - and there is NO video in the Character Animator. I can see the audio levels move if I make a noise, however, cannot see any video whatsoever.I have installed all the latest drivers - it appears to work elsewhere, just not in Adobe Character Animator.I have tried switching to Next Camera, default camera, reinstalled drivers, Logitech drivers, Microsoft drivers etc... all to no avail.
There's definitely something simple I'm missing here, but I'm using a default mouth and an alternate mouth in a swap set that I made automatic lip sync takes from (and the visemes are show do show up) but nothing happens on playback. Both are tagged as mouths with a Lip Sync behavior. The trigger is working as well, but how do I make them show and (assuming I can accomplish that) determine when one shows and the other doesn't? Thanks to anyone who might have any idea.
I am a medical doctor and started learning Ch early this month to create online health content. I made some triggers and swap set poses but I am having four problems and a potential fifth one.1. The mouth triggers are not swapping with the sad mouth triggers (they swapped initially but I didn't know what I pressed that removed it). They both show up on the scene. 2. When I trigger the poses, the character disappears. I guess I messed up something too. I have clicked on reset layers but that is not solving the issues.3. When pressing triggers over a sync-lipped animation, what do I do so that the two do not conflict? 4. I want to attach a goatee to the jaw of my character but I don't know how to do it. 5. I have like seven triggers and nine poses. How do I assign a number to each? That's 15 in all, and I only have 1 to 9. I attached a screen shot of my rigged setting. I will appreciate all the help and explanation I can get. Thank you in advance.
I picked a character in character animator and customized it. Had it working perfectly, and then researched how to make hands come in front of face. Found a website with a tutorial and followed. All I did was this:--Create a new layer (Name it anything you like, I named it “upper”). --Drag this new layer into our character hierarchy, above the head layer. --Draw a little square/dot (anything) on the character, and change its opacity to 1%. --Make sure it is placed as part of the “upper” layer.I saved the photoshop file, and went to animator to check progress, and suddenly then, the characters head detaches from its body, and the bottom of the character lifts up out of place. So I thought, forget this, I just want my old functioning character back. In the history tab, I opened a previous version before I messed with the character in photoshop and all looked good, except for the character in rig mode was colored bars. I realize this is because it is referencing a character
In Character Animator 23, 24, and 25, my notebook camera doesn't work. It just stays on "Waiting for camera." The camera is not being used by any other program, and it works fine with other software. Any ideas on how to fix this?Let me know if you want any adjustments! 😊 It also has all the necessary permissions.
HiI'm struggling to get my alternative mouth set to work properly. When I press the trigger key, it just shows all the mouths in the set. I've tagged it as a mouth and it's worked ok in the past, so I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I've attached a quick video to show what I mean. Thanks for any help.
I'm trying to get limb ik to bend one way in a replay where it shows ini the replay working and outside of that and back at the regular character, I wanted to have my arm bend the oppisite way. As it stands it glitches out the arm in the replay. If i switch it back it breaks my other replays. I just wanted to have replay override limbik and then return back. Hopefully that makes sense.
How does one replace a missing "Camera Input" take (.art) file?I moved some of my projects over to a different machine, and I now want to relink to the correct take files. I was able to relink the audio files, but how do I relink the take file? When selecting the missing audio file, I can then replace the path on the right side:However, this does not work with take files. Thanks
Every time I try to select a puppet in character animator, I always get an error like this. I've gotten the software up to date and have restarted my computer.
Hello, all! Forgive me if this is covered in another discussion -- I couldn't find it anywhere.I want to create my own basic puppet template in my own drawing style, rig it up, and then be able to create new puppets from it that I can customize with new faces, clothes, colors etc. I don't want the new puppets to be linked to the original, since I'm making each one different and don't want the new versions' customizations to affect the original. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch! Ted
Hi everyone, I'm new to Character Animator. I made a simple rig of my cat Sagan and everything works fine but the left eye. The big problem is at certain (and random head positions) the left eye folds in on itself. The pupils are not tracking either, which is a lessor concern at this moment as I could just use the mouse to move them later. But I feel like I've tried everything and can't get that left eye to work correctly. He blinks just fine. They are attached to the torso, set to weld, tagged correctly, the "Show Rigging Issues" function just says no behaviors are attached to the eyes, but when I tried adding Eye Gaze, it made it worse. BOTH eyes started folding in on each other. See screen grabs below. Any suggestions would be amazing. Thnx Jay
