For this scene I am putting in multiple ranks of marching soldiers, and I can't help but wonder, "Is there a better way to do this within the Adobe programs?" Right now I am dragging this puppet dozens of times into the timeline. By selecting them all (one by one), I can get them to all march at once with the arrow key. It is time consuming and I wonder how much longer until I run into performance issues.
Referring to this page, step #2 says to create a comp with the visemes "matching the order of visemes in Character Animator’s Visemes context menu" and gives an example of the order being Neutral, Aa, D "and so on".The problem is that in Character Animator (current version 2.11) the viseme order in the context menu is different. Just to complicate things, the layer order of the visemes in the default head PSD is different again. So… which is the correct order? The actual process of pasting in the keyframe data works fine, it's just that the visemes being displayed in After Effects don't match the ones being displayed in the original Character Animator capture, and short of endless trial and error, I don't know how to fix it.
The latest version of Character Animator introduces an in-built analytical panel which scans through the puppet and tells what exactly the puppet is missing. For example: Issues with unused tags. Issues with Arm IK. Issues with Cycle Layers. Issues with Eye Gaze. Issues with Walk Check out the details of the feature here: https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/using/rigging-issues.html Feel free to reach out with questions. (timecode: 0:30 to 4:17) The latest version of Adobe Character Animator introduces a new behavior called Motion Lines. It lets you add speed lines along the motion path of the fast moving objects. You can define any number of motion lines, with each optionally having a pair of secondary lines. Check out the feature in detail here: https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/using/behaviors-reference.html#motion_lines Feel free to reach out with questions. Character Animator (3.0) has introduced this feature which allows you to play an audio file at the same time as a triggered animation, such as a sound effect, voice, or song. For example, you can make a character yell when a yell facial expression is triggered. Your characters become more dynamic and your animation workflows become simpler with audio automatically synced to the triggerable animation. Check out the video shared above to understand this feature. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/ahOjHPK3HCE Feel free to reach out with questions! Back to Character Animator New Features post
Until now, Character Animator did not have any in-built camera system. Hence, to make any camera movement changes like zoom in/out and panning, etc we used to switch to other applications like Adobe After Effects. For the world of animation, it becomes boring to see the characters/puppets in the same position with the same background for a long time. Adobe Character Animator (3.0) gives us an opportunity to make the experience better and the video more interesting to watch. Keyframes in Adobe Character Animator allow for more precise and fluid animation. Using this, you can control the timing of your animation. You can apply keyframe to not only the legacy transform controls (position, scale, and rotation, etc) but also to many other character parameters. Please check out the trailer for a full-length 2D animation created by 2 people, husband and wife. All characters are made in Character Animator, the animation is done in After Effects. The film will be out early 2020. This is our first animation ever and it wouldn't be possible without Adobe Character Animator. Big gratitute to Adobe team for helping us make our dream come true. We would love to hear your feedback and critique! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sysm5p13Yec
I'm looking through documentation and googling as well but want to ask here just in case I don't find anything. Whenever I add audio, it lands at the beginning of the timeline. Is it possible to drop audio where I have the playhead/scrubber? It is SUCH a pain in the butt to move every single piece of audio because I have to find the last piece of audio (for another character) again -- which isn't easy because every piece of audio is a new layer -- yuck! -- listen to it and find the correct timing again. Actually, it's three times I have to place it:To drop it on the timeline.Drag it to approximately where it should be after the preceding audioAfter listening to that preceding audio, dragging it exactly where it should go
Could someone please help me. I've followed the Okay Samurai tutorial for walking step by step FOR HOURS! No matter what I do I can't seem to solve the following problems: 1) the right arm is distorting at the shoulder, stretching back and forth. 2) The body is distorting at the bottom, again stretching back and forth. 3) The body seems to moving too much in comparison to the body head. I think these problems are probably easy to solve and involve origin points, but after literally hours of tweaking I can't get it right. If anyone can give me some help it would much appreciated. To add to my frustration every time I try to post this on the forum it won't let me attach the Puppet file saying 'The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type' So I can't even share this with anyone. I am going mental here, I want smash my computer over Adobes head! (Deep breath, deep beath)
Won't move with the camera, won't move with the eyebrow tilt control thingys. I'm out of ideas!https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dTj49-bVkOEKdUXEGJOQLGrtB9qllrNa/view?usp=sharing
Should sticks touch the handles they are between? If not, how close should the ends of a stick be to a given handle?
I am a major NOVICE with this program and I am trying to create a layered scene using the Red Monster that I have edited. I need to make him smaller so he fits in the scene but when I click on him, the properties do not show height or width. Help me, please!
Every puppet I find in any tutorial or on the Adobe site only has some things ... like just a frontal view ... and, while I keep reading about how specific things need to be named and organized, I find some puppets that work perfectly well with slightly different naming conventions. Does anyone have or can direct me to a "complete" puppet I can model mine after or look at for working examples?
Hello I'm having challenges with my character's head and mouth moving out of position, when I move my head.... I activated the mesh, but I don't understand where the problem.... Please see images... Apologies for the sideways pics. For some reason, Adobe uploaded it that way. Please advise.... Thanks
Hi all I'm new to adbode and find the quantity of apps quite confusing! On youtube I have dsicovered the Character Animator which looks great. I'm after creating a 2D cartoon. To do this is it only the Characater Animator I need? Also which app is it avaible in, as when I have gone to sign up in the one app pricing, character animator isn't there. Is it a feature rather than an app in a different app then? thanksMaria
Hey there, silly question I'm sure, but I have a puppet in a 3/4 view that faces to the left. How do I mirror/flip the puppet so everything faces to the right? Do I have to do a whole new puppet? Thanks for any help!
Hi everyone! Character animator is an amazing tool.I tested it a bit, and have written down some suggestions that could help improving it even further. Here are the suggestions: - Allow user to break the Head Position Strength from the camera Input into Horizontal and Vertical StrengthThis would let the user fully customize and improve advanced headturns (made through stacking multiple Face Behaviors).------------------------------------------------------- Add Head Position Strength to the Layer PickerWith that, the user could customize detailed Head Turns, or animate headphones/glasses to his character for example.------------------------------------------------------ Automaticaly release the Trigger from a Child Group of layers before releasing The trigger from a Parent Group. For example, the user has a group of layers nested inside each other, like:. Idle_LayerCycle. Jumping_LayerCycle. Sitting_LayerCycle -> Sitting_And_Waving_GoodbyeIf the user wants to go from "Sitting_And_

I'm using a Template for Character Animator that I downloaded from Adobe, and I'm trying to simply create my own artwork for each layer and sublayer of the template. I started by creating a simple eliptical shape and I was able to click on the square and drag it to the face background layer, though when I try to create simple shapes for the eyeballs, I am not able to drag them to the right layer. It creates a new <elipse> sublayer, take a look at +Left Eye layer on the second screenshot. How would I replace the Left Eyeball artwork with my own? Thanks!
Whenever I import my character from AI, it takes a long time to import and process commands when clicking something (e.g. selecting a body part during the rigging process takes somewhere between 3-5mins for the loading wheel to stop spinning). And just selecting the record section ends up crashing the app so I have to force quit it.Using the templates work fine, which are around 400kb. However, my character file is 10.1mb so I'm not sure if the file size is the problem. If the size is the problem, how can I reduce the size? What could be the reason behind the large file size? – Would it be the amount of paths or layers in my file? Or would it be resolution settings? And what is the max size file that will function well in Character Animator? My Mac is up to date (OS 10.15) and my Adobe apps are up to date (AI: 23.1.1 - CA: 2.1.1 - AE: 16.1.3) Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated 🙂
Hi There. I am creating a character builder which lets me cycle through various bodies, beards, hair, glasses, wrinkles, etc to create a range of different characters. I have built the character in Photoshop, Imported and Rigged and all is well. EXCEPT...My Cycle Layers are not working properly. Both my Hat Cycle Layers and Glasses Cycle layers work perfectly. The Noses, Beards, Facial Features, Hair and Bodies all do not detect the 'Cycle Pause' layers. I have renamed and renumbered the layers multiple times. Re-imported the puppet. Restarted my machine. I cannot figure out why the Pause-Layers is decting as 0 instead of the correct number. Thanks in advance.
