So I made my puppet, and tried a simple animation of them holding a game controller and moving a bit. I posed the arms so they're be bent and holding the Controller like she's playing it, did my recording and it looked fine. However, when I exported it, the arms were in WILDLY different poses than what I recorded them as, being bent like she was shrugging. What am I doing wrong as far as moving the arms for recording?
Hi I am new and I'm so stuck, I need to know how to apply an arm wave effect to my character by trigger. I know how to apply the arm to the trigger panel and give a number or letter, but how do I make him wave.
Hello guys as it shown in these pics, when i try the walk cycle i get some weird stuff on my puppet's shoe. The sec pic shows my puppet broken when I try to change the start on the walk properties. I change from start : immediately to start : with left and right arrow keys. Then when I press one of the arrow key it gets broken.
hello guys whenever i try to make a walk cycle using character animator i get some problems in terms of gravity. my character walks like a gorilla. how can i fix this. and make it smoother.
Hello there,I am trying to export my video for several weeks unsuccessfully., being this forum post my last resort.I have two characters, one of them I seem to be able to export normally and successfully, but the main character is the main big issue - When rendering through Dynamic Link on After Effects, the rendering stops and I almost always get the error "(...) the file might be corrupted or damaged..."but the file is completely fine when I open it on Character Animator. So I tried to export the video directly from CH and see what would happen - But a few odd things happen as well:The character has a transparent background, so I chose the option "Video with Alpha via Media Encoder...", but the final video comes off as not having any animation at all, the original animation is about 10 minutes long but the video seems to render only some seconds and 1 static frame only. I tried exporting as .mov and as .mxf, both with the same issue. So I tried "PNG sequence and WAV" and only a few fra
Hi everyone!I was studying the rig of Heather, the WizardGirl and got curious why they put a head group named as FaceStuff (with all face layers, like eyes, eyebrows. mouths etc) attached to a layer named HEAD PIVOT. This HEAD PIVOT is just a blue circle on neck/chin hight. Why they do this? Whats is de advantage? When is recommended to use this?Thank you all and sorry the bad english.
I watched this video " Character Animator Tutorial: How to control your puppet by phone - YouTube he's controling his pupet but i don't how he did it.

I shipped this written manual with my character cooker puppet creation workflow.but today i decided to visualize every line of it. I believe it shows how easy the process turns one puppet into another .And why i think everyone should give it a try !so here is the video. The charactercooker promo can be found in the forum.
This problem is for a LIVE presentation.Hi guys, I have a problem here, if I keep pressing the "S" key, which is an expression on my character, I can press the "B" and the "M" which are look left and look right, and it works perfectly, but if I press "N" which is look up it just doesn't work.I have tried multiple solutions for this like disabling keyboard shortcuts, closing and opening the program, but oddly the only solution that partially works is, if I change the expression of the "S" key to the "D" now the "B" and "N" triggers work, but not the "M".Now if I keep pressed the "Z" and the "S" key at the same time, then less of my other triggers work, is there a limit of how many triggers you can press at the same time?
Hello guys.. I just finished my animated youtube character made entirely using character animator. Without your help on these forums and in the youtube comments I would never had made it. I'm very proud of it, I've been working since february, learning the program, doing the puppet and now I finally have my first episode on youtube. Please check it out and tell me what do you think about the animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMoiBnkj0ZE
I've created and rigged two different puppets, but either I've utterly failed to understand how CA manages files or I seem unable to figure out how to simply keep a rigged puppet file that I can then import into any new project. How do you create a rigged puppet master file and then just drop/import that puppet with its rigging intact into another project? For example... I have a file of "Puppet A." I want to spend my time fine-tuning the rigging of Puppet A, so I can then drop him fully rigged into other projects.
Hello... I'm trying to put together a simple animated "conversation" between two different characters. Both characters have their continuous dialogue pre-recorded on a different track that I edited in Audition. For example: Track 1 (Pete): Hi Bob. How are you? Nice night for a walk, eh?Track 2 (Bob): Hi Pete. I'm great. Actually, I think it's awful and you're a jerk.I've imported each audio track, then placed it onto the timeline with its corresponding puppet. Following the online help I've seen here, I've begun to "split" my continuous pre-recorded audio track for each character, then lining each chunk up in order to get the audio chunks timed correctly with each other. For example:Pete: Hi Bob.Bob: Hi Pete.Pete: How are you?Bob: I'm great.Pete: Nice night for a walk, eh?Bob: Actually, I think it's awful and you're a jerk. Here's the problem: Every time I "split" the audio, it creates another audio track! Huh?!? So... effectively, I now have a separate track for each line of dialogue a
Hello everyone! I am curious if there is any way of animating a puppet to dance, or at least the ability to move the legs without having a floating effect over the entire character? I'm trying to animate the legs independently but I'm having trouble keeping the character grounded (meaning as if there were a way to apply gravity to the feet). I tried adding fixed handles but then I can no longer drag the legs. Are there any tutorials on this topic that I might be able to view? Thanks!
I downloaded a template puppet from https://character.adobelanding.com/puppets/ The one I downloaded gave me an AI file, plus the .puppet file. I'm wondering how to use this template to try to create my own character? It seems that I could easily change the AI file. But changing the .puppet file is different? I want to be able to keep all of the motion and replays that the original template has.
I would like for my puppet to wink (one eye blink) but can not find the solution on my own or via online searches. The uncheck Blink Eyes Together option while the puppet track is selected is not good because a two eye blink is then out of sync. Are any of you able to assist? Please be aware that I am very new to all of this so if there is something you will need for me to share in order to assist please specify by reply. Attaching a basic screen for now. Thank you!
My first chance at properly experimenting with Ch.I created a simple puppet in AI using your downloadable template. Imported fine, Record shows puppet moving, mouth, eyes, etc. Responding to webcam and microphone.Go into Rig to make adjustments, and as soon as I click on an adjustment it crashes to desktop, no freezing, no error message, nothing in Task Manager to show that Ch is still running. The crash creates 3 files:Character Animator2BlockRecoveryCharacter Animator.exe.16152.dmpCharacter Animator2FileRecovery.xmlThe same also happens with the template puppets; blank face, red monster and sticky, even the Frankenstein introduction puppets (possibly more I didn't try).It seems to happen on both PSD and AI based puppets.I have tried reinstalling Ch, I have tried wiping all traces of Ch and cleaned the registry, restarting the PC, I have tried reinstalling Illustrator. I have also tried updating my nVidia gfx drivers and all other drivers. All other Adobe programs seem to work fine (at
Woot ! Adopted by the Character Animator 3rd party page! Professor Lurki is gaining his recognition! The CharacterCooker is set up to create puppets in your own style, starting from an Adobe Animate .FLA templateand making use of the Smart Objects system in Creative Cloud. Watch the promotional video here, to place it somewhere in you mind. https://youtu.be/wOewSJaXRNoWe love the following client review that says it all:""#Character Cooker is a massive timesaver when it comes to populate your scenes, with actors , stand-ins or extra's.The workflow is like learning to drive a car. Looks a bit complicated at the start, but once you get the hang of it, its a process you could do while driving a car 🙂 "Sweet !
Hello,I'm looking for a good full Internet "Character Animator" Training. ( including exercises, support.. etc..) Please advice.ThanksSam
After exporting a CA scene through media encoder I checked resulting video to find scene title in video I don't like this, the finished video will have 14 titles throughout how can I eliminate them?
Hi, everybody. Is it possible to make a swap set with several items but with only one key? For example, my puppet has 8 different glasses, and in order to save keys and for more convenience, I'd like to set the trigger for one like A button on the keyboard. So I press A - default glasses, press A again - next glasses, press A again - next one and so on? Or it's impossible and I should set the different key for every different glasses? Thanks in advance
Hello! I'm monkeying around with Character Animator for the first time. I've created a basic puppet and presumably rigged it correctly, but I'm animating to a recorded audio track and need to control the puppet using a keyboard, rather than webcam... More like a "real" puppet than a motion-sensor driven one.TLDR: I want to raise, lower, or pivot the eyebrows via keyboard, with them soft-returning to a neutral position after I release the keystroke. I'd like to be able to control the eyebrows the same way I can control the pupils, but the pupils seem to be the only keyboard movement baked into the rigging.
Hi!After importing the latest example puppet, Tull, I cannot get the draggers to work. If I record nothing will show, but it does pick up that the dragger was activated in the timeline (but the puppet will not move, except for some 1-frame glitchy movements). The eyes, moving the body with the camera etc. works fine. Other puppets with draggers (like Chloe) works fine. I have the lastest version of Character Animator.
Hey All, Been away from Character Animator for a while and forgot the workflow for swapping the original unrefined, lip sync audio for the revised audio from Audition. Can someone direct me to where that process is outlined? To be clear I have characters with goofy voices that get swapped for the original audio takes.
I am noticing some slowing down with the CH app-I am doing multiple videos using the same puppet setup, so to start a new project what i am doing is a Save As of my finished project, then deleting all the audio, scenes, etc, to maintain all my rigging and work on my puppet. Currently I am getting beach balls with every click in the UI. I was thinking maybe my methodology was increasing the file size of my project with each Save As, but Finder shows my project file at zero bytes.Any insights?TIA
