We are looking to use character animator in a production and are looking for some pre-made puppets to use. Is there a site we can buy these from?
Hello...Just a simple question. I keep Character Animator in my dock, and am able to launch it without running After Effects first. Is there any reason I should be launching it from AE?Thanks
I have a late 2012 Mac Mini, with 16 GB of RAM and a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB. I have been able to run all Creative Cloud Apps seamlessly (except for Premiere which occasionally shuts down out of the blue), but now Character Animator won't even open for me. I would really like to use this program, and I am frustrated that it won't open. I tried opening it from After Effects, and from Finder, but all I get is the icon shows up on my bar at the bottom of the screen, and disappears without displaying anything, even a warning screen. If you could respond ASAP, that would be great! Thanks in advance!
I'm dealing with some audio that's not getting great lip-syncing results. It's good, clean audio, but Ch still seems to be missing a lot. I could go through and tweak in manually, but I'm lazy.I thought about processing the audio first in audition or premiere. Even if it sounds weird to the naked ear, I can just swap it out with the normal version after I compute lip-sync.So, I'm wondering, what is Ch looking for? What filter or effect can i apply (and with what settings) that might give Ch a head start?Answers from the Ch team are always appreciated, but perhaps there are some civilians here that understand audio a lot better than I do who can shed some light...
Hi there, I created two puppets so far and in both cases the mouth won't open. in this puppet i added a key trigger, but that doesn't seem to work.. [or i am just missing something on how to do it, very new to the program!]Also the pupils of this puppet don't move and i don't know why.And the arms stay stuck to the body and distort when dragged.I'd love help with these isssues, if someone can take a look at the files, thanks! I see plenty of one-off examples, but are there any completed projects to look at? Meaning, a full animated storyline? If so, where are they?
Hello there, I have tried to uninstall and reinstall adobe character animator and it still keeps coming up.When I open the software it's fine but when I go to anything like "new illustrator puppet" or "new Photoshop puppet" it comes up with this error twice.Adobe character animator internal error code (1033274218+19) assertion failed! I'm using a quite new MSI laptop with windows 10, core i7 and 16GB of Ram. This problem does't come up on my tower computer and it's using windows 8.1 with 16GB of RAM.I have tried disabling the camera on my laptop to see if it would still come up as my tower computer does not have a camera and it still comes up twice.Any help would be appreciated.
I am having trouble connecting the two arms to stick. the stick is in the upper level of the right arm and it works. (One point drag in hinge mode). The left arm is connected well to the chest but I can not fix it with the left hand in the level of the right arm. I attach an explanatory drawing.
Hello...I have a puppet that was working fine. I wanted to add head turning, so I duplicated the AI file and added the appropriate layers. I started a new CA file and tagged everything from scratch. Nothing is different from before, other than the new heads. The problem I am now experiencing is that when the head turns the mouths distort. I have used the stock CA mouths with minor modification. I'm a noob to CA so hopefully I'm just screwing up.Links below are for the project folder and the AI file. Any help is greatly appreciated!https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gwxbp0j0ud8umww/AAArAAzGLwJW0XF8GTQE13mla?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/s/hl9864r77mv18q0/Ernie%20Build%204.ai?dl=0
I am using Adobe Character Animator CC (Beta) and I have imported my character from photoshop CC 2017. when i imported him anywhere that the coloring of an object or shape is a lower transparency it is gray/black when opened in character animator. please see attached picture of the character animator version. I do not even know where to stat to fix this. im very new with these programs.
My team and I are planning a web series, and I would like to be able to use Character Animator to seed animations in AE. Are there plans to implement any kind of granular export feature to AE? It would be good to be able to import each character animation as a composition with keyframes that move each and every element visible to the animator who will be polishing, combining, and compositing. Would be nice for these to be infinitely scalable if possible.I've seen a similar thread to the question above, so apologies for redundancies. But I've got another one for you:It would further be cool to have a mode that, for illustrator puppets, imports discreet elements as animated paths so they could be fed into other plugins that accept mask layers as inputs. Like the eyes come in as their own set of paths, the mouth as another, the hair as another, the nose... each on their own layer comprised of masks only. This could open up an absurd world of possibilities.
Since I have updated the new cc beta, the camera doesn't work anymore.I'va red the FAQ why doesn't the camera and microphone not show my webcam's video. So I've checked :_ the camera button is blue- only one camera is detected- I've update my graphics card Geforce GTX 980M.But it doesn't work
We've been asked quite a lot how we manage to stream our characters to Facebook Live, so we've made a video to show you how easy it is
When I press CTRL+G it wont make a "sub group" under Head, to make a "turning head group".
I have serious problems to make the head moves up and down remaining connected to the neck during the walk cycle of the body.I attach an explanatory drawing:

Hopefully it will work this time.*I've just finished making my first ever puppet, and I'd like to set it free on the world. So as from right now, it is officially public domain. You don't have to give me credit, or notify me (though if you feel so inclined, it's Jon Chambers and @q4tproductions on twitter). Feel free to share it onward again, use it in tutorials, make money from it, tell people you made it, or whatever. I don't care, nor do I require any royalties. This is my first ever puppet, so be gentle when critiquing it, because I hardly knew how to use Adobe Illustrator at all before I started this project, and I certainly didn't know what Character Animator was.So what's in it for me? Several things:-Warm fuzzies knowing my first digital child is making it out in the world on his own.-Given that it's modelled on me, it would be cool to see
I tried the Dynamic Link method to view a scene created in Character Animator and I got an error. The error message box reads:After Effects warning: The file (here it has the location of the file I just dragged) could not be found. I have the items in a folder on my desktop. Do the files have to be somewhere else for Dynamic Link to work?? Any suggestions?ThanksSusy
Is there a way to view your audio track waveforms in Character Animator? It would be easier to record additional takes with movement if I could see when my puppet's dialogue was coming up. Currently, I always react a little bit late b/c I have to wait until I hear/see her talking first.
Hi there, I'm trying to record several behaviours in various takes, i.e. two draggers, one for each arm and I've already recorded the first take (left arm). The problem is when I try to record the second take, for the right arm, Ch doesn't play what I have already recorded, instead, the puppet goes to the rest pose. I did this with previous versions of Ch and never had this issue, is there something I'm missing? Please advise! Many thanks!

Is there a place or a plan for a place where we can share our puppets with each other? I would love to share out some of my creations and see what others are creating as well.

I've created a character and added two sticks for the arm bones with a space in the middle for the elbow. However, when I go to animate the arms, the elbow always bend in the opposite direction that I want. Is there a way to inverse the direction/angle at which the elbow bends?
I wanted to introduce myself to the forum and let you know what my goals are with character animator.I finished writing a book a few weeks ago and I'm editing it now. I'm going to turn it into an animated series and put that up on YouTube. It's my first time making an animated project. I'm still editing minor errors in the book (3rd draft) but I've started doing the storyboards for the animations, and I'll be looking for voice actors in my local area once those are done and I have the flipbook and script organized for them. I'm hoping to use the adobe suite, including character animator, as my main workhorse in puppet rigging as they look to be very powerful in what they can do. I'm currently on disability and this is what I'm hoping will be my way off of it, writing books and animating them in a cyclical series of production to make a living through youtube. It's going to be a very busy year, and I'm looking forward to it. I was was wondering what your goals were with character animat
Hello, I've been learning how to use Character Animator over the last few weeks by following the tutorial video Making Your First Character (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial)I created and modified the same head over and over until I got the movement, blinks, mouth movement, etc perfectly. I moved on to step 2, adding a body.I continued working on the same file where I had the head (Illustrator), and I added a body layer. When I went back to Character Animator, all the heads "fell apart", the eyes, nose, mouths, etc became separated from the main head that housed them. They all moved over to the right, away from the head. I did move the heads on the original illustrator file, so I believe this caused the error...Is there anything I can do to align these parts back correctly in Character Animator? Or do I have to re-rig everything and re-tag all my layers? I feel like there must be an easier way to re-align the faces back onto the heads...Also, one other question. How can I make my pupp
