Just sharing a piece I just finished using Character Animator with a clay puppet.I particularly like what I was able to do with the hands turning. I did it manually with keyboard triggers, but my next step is to figure out if I can automate it with motion triggers. If there's a separate thread for sharing work, I apologize. I couldn't find one.
Hello, I am having an issue dragging the hands of my character. This same character was able to work properly in an animation I recently did. I exported the puppet to a new document and now he just multiplies, no longer able to have his arms dragged around. Is this an issue with the latest update? Or is it me?
i was doing my course i finished my work now i cant open my work its saying l2 piratical cant open because it is either not a suoppted file type or because the has been damaged for example it was sent as an email attachment and want correctly decoded anyone that can advice an help me bring my work back i will put £20 in to there account
HelloI have put draggers on both my characters pupils, but instead of moving the eye, they stay still and the artwork is dragged (see below image)What could I be doing wrong>?
Hi.I'm new to Character Animator. I tried to make a scene for a video. This is what I did and I didn't understand what happened.1. I did record the first scene with the puppet i createdI wanted.2. I did want to add something else to my puppet, so I did add what i wanted in Illustrator. 3. I did save the changes in Illustrator, and then I did another scene with the new changes of my puppet. Here is what It happened. the new scene and the old scene changed with the changes of the puppet. How can I change something in my character for a new scene without affecting the old scenes that I already recorded and saved.
I'm having a little bit of botherI have two characters on the time line and two audio files, one for each character. However, both of the characters keep lip syncing to both audio files. How can I make each puppet lip sync to the separate audio files?
Hi There!I noticed while watching the Documentary about how the Simpsons used CH to animate the live section with Homer, how Dan Castellaneta read something called a Toothsome Meme to train CH and help the software recognize his voice. Is that a step that the users should do? If so, how should we proceed exactly?
I'm happy with my first render test, and using the Character over in After Effects is truly a dream-come-true for me. I have everything set up for my character in this project, so can I (or should I) just delete all the recorded (sound and camera input) layers in my project, and do another output with new audio and puppet animations?I'm sure it's a dumb question, but thought I might be missing something that I should have picked up on by now. Thanks lots!John
I've got the latest Character Animator uploaded but Im seeing this (notice OLD next to Face and Keyboard triggers). Why is this happening and how can I get the 'new'?
Hi everyone, there seems almost nothing you can't do with Character Animator (ChAn), but…I can't seem to find is a solution for the simplest of animations: A meagre movement or transformation of a puppet or subpuppet from A to B or from "small" to "large", etc. In AE or Pr. Pro I'd add a transformation keyframe at the starting point and then add a second keyframe at the endpoint and there move or scale (or whatever) the thing, and this'd create a simple smooth transition. Since there are no keyframes in ChAn (yet…?), I can't do that. There are possibilities to move the "thing" around with draggers or whatever, but not really efficient nor does it even grant me the smooth result I'd need for, say, some clouds to move in the BG. Am I missing out on s.th. or is it not yet possible to do this? Thank you…P.S.: I've, of course, tried to find an according thread in this forum but I didn't find one. If there is one please just post the link here and I'll delete this.
I have AE 2015 and using character animator as preview 3. i went to help and 'update', everything is updated but it still shows as preview 3. Is there a fix for this? I know I can just update animator alone via adobe forum help but that didn't work. My version doesn't have 'staple' 'tags' under the layer and 'draggable'...what happened here? thanks!
I'm starting a project with characters of multiple ethnicities. The mouth shapes will be a little different for some slang (and some not so slang) words. Is there a list of sounds Character Animator recognizes? I see those in the standard workspace, but heard in one of the tuts about more than the 14 or so that I see.
Hello,I might be missing something obvious, but my puppy starts to warp when the dangle feature gets a little too much for it. The hair of my character literally becomes floppy and loses it's rigidness. I saw on a tutorial that there is a reset feature, but I can't seem to find it in my workspace. Does anyone know where this is?Thanks.
Is it possible to add more turns, instead of just having frontal, quarter and profile? If so, how can I do it. My brother (a fellow designer animator who specialises in 3D) is working on a 3D model that is looking very good indeed in CA but if we could add just a few more turns, it would look perfect.
While playing with the NutCracker behaviour... I noticed you can set the Flappiness to a negative value and this make the object go up instead of down.Used this with the dog Puppet. I tagged the lower jaw, to jaw and set the Nutcracker behaviour to a normal setting about +50. So now when I move my jaw the puppet jaw moves down.I then tagged the dog's nose to jaw and set the NutCracker behaviour to -100, so when I move me jaw the dog's nose goes up.I can make the dog talk with just the movement of my jaw... neat! Well I think so PS: beware it's a bit load... I've just been told! Apparently I just made my neighbors jump a bit! ...Sorry about that... being deaf does have it's downsides!
As soon as i try to import a character from Illustrator an error message pops up that says assertation error I have tried updating, reinstalling and creating new project files every other problem i have found like this is after they already have the character imported but my system wont even let me do that HELP !!!!!
For some reason, when I go to record a sequence I get a message "The selcted audio device has no input channels available. Do you want to open the audio hardware preferences?" When I click on preferences the window comes up but no matter what I do, I still can not record. Any ideas? I have made many recordings previously.Richard
Are there Illustrator or Photoshop Puppet Characters for use in Character Animator available for purchase/download? I do OK animating and 3D modelling, but I'm very bad with 2D drawings .... VERY bad!My local friends are all tied up with projects for a few months. Thanks for any help or referrals!John
Hello, I started using Ch just a couple days ago, with no experience on the animation field at all, and I must say that it's going pretty well so far, I'm amazed by the simplicity and effectiveness of this program and I'm totally in love with it.I made 3 puppets already, which I'm still working on because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I always tend to challenge myself more and more.So the problem I'm having is that, I make the basic structure on Photoshop, grouping and layering everything properly (I hope) And it works great....Until I get a new idea and I want to add more stuff into the basic puppet... let's say, more hair strands or a dress. At first I was having no problems whatsoever, but after a while Character Animator decided that after every single Photoshop edit, it will misplace everything... and I would have to manually place the parts back together myself.Am I missing a step? This is confusing and very time consuming, so hopefully I'll manage to fix this. I hope someone c
Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum and quite new to Character Animator (but I've seen all the youtube videos about it).I have a plan that looks a bit impossible, but that just makes it more fun to do.I want to make a character that is able to fight, turn around smoothly, use a sword correctly and naturally, in a nice looking and detailed drawing style. It will be a character rig, but it should look as good as a good animé, or even better. I thought I would just start with a basic sketch, then rig everything, and then replace the sketches by real artwork which I will base on what is best according to the way everything is rigged. If you guys have ideas, I'd like to hear them, because for example I have no idea how to make him use a sword at every different angle. I'm also looking for a way to turn his head and body smoothly, with extra frames between the standard seven positions. Maybe I could use key triggers for every position and find a way to let him go to different positions back an
I was hoping to be able to delete a no longer needed layer by selecting it in CA 2017 beta on a Mac and pressing Delete. CA froze up; I had to use Force Quit to get it back. This may have been exacerbated by the scratch disk being nearly full and and nearly as I can tell having no way to change scratch disks.
hi, i learned the CH software for about 2 weeks, now can define my own keyboard triggers and use the keyboard to control my dummy movements. and just get an idea: can i use joystick to control the dummy? (joystick has very good sensitivity and handling performance that can use both with the keyboard) . if we can do that in CH, the work of control cartoon will be more efficient and fun.
I'm new to this software and have never used any animation software before so this is completely new to me. Check out some of my test runs. I welcome any suggestions and information.Adobe Character Animator - YouTube Dangly Doo - YouTube Adobe Character Animator test - YouTube Adobe Character Animator - YouTube
It doesn't seem to be the bounding box of the eye group, which is what I'd expect. It doesn't seem to be based on the size of the pupil, which would be my second guess. When my pupils shoot out of my closed eyelids I try to fix it by adding a box to use for defining range, but I can't seem to figure out how small it needs to be since I can't figure out how small it is by default.
I'm just building a Puppet.... called Teddyish... and I've got to the point where I'm starting to work on the structure, ready to go into Ch.I looked at it and thought... 'this part is really good at getting your head around the structure,' and realised that if I gave this very basic .psd file... (I've only done it in Photoshop) to others, they too might have fun learning how to put it together. So here it is... (Got a problem... don't know how to share a psd file here? Anyone help please?)
