I am trying to start a lesson with Character Animator, but my students (a public school) keep getting error messages. Some can get started, and then it stops, and others it begins right when the character is selected. I think it may be a storage issue, but not sure or how to fix. Here are the two errors that have been reported:Internal error code: (1109000933:67+8) bad argument #1 to "Localize" (string expected, got nil)and the otherThe Directory "\\laneyfs.nhcs\students$\student.name\Adobe\CharacterAnimator' could not be created. Please check the validity of the path or parent directory protection or permission rights. Does the last one mean I need to have them download it to their offline storage? Thanks for any help.
Hello, I have a project I am trying to open and I am getting this error message. I click OK and it closes character animator. I can't get this project to open and it won't let me open any others for some reason. Please help!
Before giving up on the software entirely, I thought I'd post my question here.I've done a lot of animating in After Effects, and I would always have arms composed of several pieces - a shoulder / arm base, a forearm, and a hand. Each would be its own piece of art you would import separately. Those 3 pieces would be parent/child rigged together. This makes far, far better motion without amateruish-looking rubbery bending at the joint. But I can't find any tutorials on how to rig such a traditional puppet in Character Animator. They all seem to start with the assumption that the arm is a single layer that will just bend using CA software tools (ug!). Could anyone direct me to a video or document that would show the process to rig a traditionally, professionally built puppet in Character Animator?I'm going to have to abandon the software if it can't even do fundamental parent/child stuff, but if it's possible, I would really love to understand how.
hello friends, I made all the adjustments, but my character's head is distorted and I couldn't fix it. Is there anyone who can help with this? I am also attaching the project file. https://we.tl/t-OkJRwSTLOL
Just to chime in here. I really like the CA software from what I have gathered using the trial. But to be honest: it's just way to expensive for me at this point. CA cant be broken out of the complete subscription package like other parts of Adobe software. This is holding me back using the software. And I guess I am not the only one. The "starter" version is nice, but its too crippled to be useful in any way.
Hello, I installed Character Animator 22.2 (from adobe creative cloud) on Windows 10, 64 bit, 16 RAM, the camera works fine, but the face/body is not detected even after calibrate, I tried several puppets, including virtual ones, I also tried several faces, but even the green tracking lines does not appear in the camera panel!any ideas? Thanks in advance ^_^
So I've been having trouble running CH along with gaming. That's not the problem though. I have a high end enthusiast build with a 3080 ti, ryzen 9 5950x and 32gb of ram. Even while playing games I have sooo much head room. Gaming while running CH and OBS puts my GPU load at 70% and my CPU at 30%. Lowering GPU load further by lowering resolution or graphic settings doesnt help. From numerous threads on here I've seen that CH has an issue with bottlenecking itself apparently. No matter how good your PC hardware is, you find out real quick that you only get so far with CH. I have a 1000 dollar GPU and 500 dollar CPU and I can't get more than 24 frames with CH running by itself. Running a game with it and CH drops to 5 frames. This puppet has simple behaviors and is only 1440p in height.
My puppet's arms do not seem to be responding correctly to the limb ik behavior - they are not bending as expected. When I move the arms up, the forearm show switches to pointing up. It kind of works when I drag the arm toward the body. Also, the limb ik seems to affect each arm separately. This could be because my arms are not exactly identical. Side note: is it possible or useful to put the ik limb behavior separately on each arm if they need different settings? I've tried:-Dave's tutorial-Modeling my tags, etc. after Dave's examples-re-rigging my puppet.. nothing!I'm attaching my puppet (dropbox link) in case anyone is willing to take a look at it. Link to DB puppet Thanks!
My Character is very slow, taking a long time to load. This started after the new update. It's not a pc problem.

1 I used one arm layer to bend 2 i used trigger layers (2 looks good but still feels laggy hand rising up and down is laggy other movement is smooth thats why it feels weird )3 i tried swap layers and it looks very jumpy/laggy (1-2 looks better)
Is there a way to switch the image the hand uses (or use an image sequence to animate between) when the elbow bends the opposite direction? The Arm IK works well, until it snaps the arm in the opposite direction the hand was not designed for, and then it looks like a broken arm and/or puppet-master induced torture (probably a smaller use case). Is there a workaround to get this to work with the current build? Something along the lines of ...if(isLeftElbowFlipped == true) { showThisLeft }if(isLeftElbowFlipped == false) { showThatLeft }(etc)The hand in question would look something like this when it's pronated:Thank you! The Arm IK is great! :]
I've done this over and over again. Still the whole figure floats. When I apply the fix pin to the body folder, it causes the figure to distort. I don't know what i'm doing wrong, i've followed the setup like the tutorials. Please help! Is this a bug in the latest update?
the feet scrunch up when walking
Hi. I've trying to fix the errors i get on CA but I keep getting an error that says "Arm mesh has a handle tagged as draggable separate from handles tagged as wrist or shoulder". I send the screenshot of the body of my puppet. Can someone help me fix this please? Thanks.
Hi there,I am exercising with puppet creation and rigging. I got this vectorial character free online, distributed parts of the body in the relative layers of a .ai file. Then I imported it in Ch and rigged it. As you can see, feet do not work properly, although I think I have tagged ankle, heel and toe handles correctly. Here the project:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EoDLuwO2A1_Ap1NXLwFFDq-DVw8xEpDx/view?usp=share_linkThank you for your help!Max
Hello, I have a simple character with body and head. The head moves around with head tracking but the body stays still. I'm following the rigging tutorial with the simple blue character and the body immediately starts moving. Similar questions often get the answer to set head position strength to 0 but all that does is restrain the head movement. I want the body to move also. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm missing?
I made several versions of a project a few days ago. They, along with the history, are now gone. Maybe due to upgrade to 23.1 in between? I searched the disk for .chproj files, and other ones showed up but not previous versions of this one.
I was able to open the application and do some basic training a few days ago. Now whether I open an existing project or attempt to create a new project I receive the error. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
no webcam installed, and use Compute head movement from speech functionwhichever high or low value of Pose-to-Pose Movement setting ,character head movement alway like Pose-to-Pose Movement 100% with 23.0,23.1(even set to 0% still move like 100%).but 22.4 22.5 work opposite, whichever high or low value Pose-to-Pose Movement setting ,character head movement alway like "Pose-to-Pose Movement" 0%.is that bug ?how to fix it?

Hello. We are looking for suggestions on how to get a character to Bow. We thought of ideas, like using body turner to achieve that or worst case, use cycle layers on a flat puppet but then we lose all of the functionality on the bowing puppet or would have to do a lot to get the bowing puppet to be able to turn its head or use the mouth. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Hello, I am trying to open a puppet in character animater and I receive this error. This happens when I try and create a new project as well. Can someone help me?
How do I keep the Limb Placement and Position of my puppet after moving it in the scene? I imported a puppet to my scene, but his resting pose isn't what I would like it to be. So I've been adjusting the pose with handles. Everytime I set the new pose I would like, it returns to the resting pose and position once I go into recording.
