I need to use Adobe Digital Editions to view some ARCs from NetGalley. I need to authorise my computer, but when I click the menu entry to do this absolutely nothing happens. I can't even read the "Starting With..." document that came with the program.

Hi folks. I am on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite OS version 10.10.5.I cannot uninstall Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 from my Mac. Things I have tried that do not work:- dragging the application (with all associated folders) into the trash and emptying the trash- pressing the "eject" button on ADE in the finder, then dragging application into trash and emptying trash- downloading and running CC cleaner- searching for all related files on computer and deleting- re-downloading Adobe Digital Editions 4.5, deleting the application, and emptying the trash- force quitting and re-launching Finder- hiding ADE from Finder sidebar- ejecting ADE (it just comes back)Although the application is presumably "deleted," it continues to show up like this in EVERY SINGLE FILE FOLDER on my computer.The only remaining trace of this program on my computer exists here, but it refuses to allow me to delete it:When I click to open Digital Editions 4.5 Installer.pkg, it simply makes me reinstall again. I'm having a problem converting Word files to pdf files. The process stops with a message that says its encountered a probem and then the Word file is locked and can only be opened as read only. What is the fix?

Hi,I have access to my ebooks on old laptop but when want to read them on the new one it prompts me for Adobe ID and password. I cannot remember my credentials and email address I think I would use is not associated with the account. Is there a way I can check what is my Adobe ID so I can use it on new machine?thanksMaciej

In response to my query "How do I authorize a device"  I received the following instructions.  "Make sure that this Adobe ID is the same ID that was used to purchase your eBooks.  Also, if you are syncing an eReader device to Digital Editions, make sure that it's the same Adobe ID."I bought the book I'm trying to read on my Nook Simple Touch from CBD, not from Adobe, so no "Adobe ID" was involved in the purchase.  And how do I authorize my Nook to accept content from Adobe Digital Editions?  The Nook shows up in my ADE library, and when I drag and drop a book onto it, the book shows up on the Nook.  But I get an error message "User not activated" from the Nook.  I've already rebooted the Nook, deleted and restored the Digital Edition folder from the Nook and re-sideloaded the title from ADE, had reauthorized and re-authorized ADE, and rebooted the computer.  Still getting the same error message.MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.5, ADE 4.0 (downloaded today),

Digital Editions 4.0 Authorization problems.I get to 'Authorizing your Computer. Please wait while your computer is being authorized.' and it just keeps going for hours and never authorizes!I have tried- Uninstall and reinstall 4.0 (yes, I turned the computer off in between)- Uninstall and reinstall older version of DE- Using different internet connection, both home and phone hot spot, turning both off and on again- Chatting with Adobe staff on help (they said they would get back to me - hah!)My adobe user name and password allow me to log in to this page without any trouble.Can anyone help with the authorisation?OR How else can I access acsm files?

Hi, can someone help me please.I exported an InDesign file to fixed layout ePub. The problem is that the buttons that are programmed to change the object states do not work. On the page there is another object states that does work. I tried cutting and pasting in a new document and it worked. The truth is that I can not understand what is happening and the dead line is approaching.This is a screenshot of the main InDesign file of 241pages. In this image only work the buttons that chance the pictures. The problem is in the bottons that must change texts object states.I cut and pasted the content of the page into a new one-page document and wonderfully here it worked.Where do I have to look?ThanksEduardo Lagrèze

I have replaced an old Kobo Glo Ereader with a new unit and I cannot get Adobe Digital Editions to authorize the new Kobo unit.ADE recognizes my computer, but how do I get the new Kobo Ereader authorized?                               very puzzled

I have finally (after hours resolving multiple, separate problems with this software--just like every single time I am forced to use it) finally managed to get my book to appear in Adobe Digital Editions, and my reader device to be detected by ADE. I can even drag and drop (horrible interface) the book from my "library" onto the reader device which attempts to transfer the book to my device.I can read the book on my computer. I can open it, both from the library on my computer and from the library on my device. But when I close ADE, safely remove my device, and power it up, the book appears as one page long, and that page appears as "PAGE ERROR" on my device. If I then reconnect my device to my computer there are two possibilities, since I've tried this so many times. The first is that the book still appears fine when loaded from either library. The second is that attempted to load the book from either location will cause ADE to crash. At that point, I delete the book from either or bo

Good day!Say, I am having a bit of trouble setting up my Adobe Digital Editions.  During install, I get a quick error:  Error opening file for writing C:\blah blah blah\My Digital Editions\welcome.epub.So, I ignore that error, and get the software installed.  However, every time that I open the software, I get the following error:  E_IO_CANNOT_OPEN.  It takes 3 clicks on the "OK" button to finally clear the error.  When I "Authorized" my computer, I did get an E_AUTH_NOT_READY error, however I erased authorization (clicked Erase Authorization from the HELP menu) and tried again, and it seemed to take this time.Now the problem that I'm having is that I cannot seem to get books loaded into the ADE.  When I try, I get an E_ADEPT_DOCUMENT_OPEN_ERROR.  I have tried closing the software, and reopening it as an administrator, however there was no change in the result that I was seeing.I believe that the problem is likely that my computer is set up where

To whom it may concern (Thank you by the way for reading this):Every time I try to open up an ebook, I get the message "Unable to open XXX" and giving an explanation of "No record of this loan is found on this machine, it may have been returned." What can I do to open up my ebooks?I borrow books from EBSCOhost which is a ebook library service provided by EBSCO for my college. I am allowed to download ebooks so that I don't have to be connected to the internet all the time; however, the links expire every two days. Does anyone know why the Adobe Digital Editions won't recognize my old ereader when I connect it to the computer? My ereader is so old that it's not compatible with Kobo (bought out Sony) so the Kobo staff suggested I could use Abode to transfer items I buy through Kobo to my ereader. The tech said I need to "authorize my device" but when I connect it, nothing happens. Thank you

I am trying to install Adobe Digital Edition 4.5.8.  It keep crashing part way through the install.  The little screen says that it is at the step where it is "Extract SymCCIS.dll"  It always dies at the same spot.

When I am opening one of my pdfs I get an error:"Unable to open [document name] Errors were encountered in this itemfile:///[path to the document].epub"From what I've seen from the forums it's a pretty popular error and there is absolutely no functioning and proper solution to that. Has anything changed? Can anyone provide a good solution to the problem? I can open two of my pdfs, but other two get that error. On the other side I can open all of my pdfs just fine on the other computer, where I am using the same version of Digital Editions. So what is wrong?

Hello, I just got a free book through the First to Read program via Penguin Random House. On their site it says to use the First to Read option in the vendor list but it's not showing up as an option for me.What eBook vender should I use and do I use my Penguin account to log in? Or do I need to make a separate account to get in? I've never used this program before and, from other things I have read, don't want to risk losing access to read this eBook.Thanks.

I am trying to open an .ascm file I downloaded from a public library.I download the file, open up digital editions, try and open the file with my authorized version of digital editions and I get this error:Any help out there?

Hi.  I recently downloaded ADE 4.5.2 but it isn't working properly with my old Nook.  I had the old version of ADE before and it worked fine with my Nook and I'm getting fed up with the errors not allowing me to read ebooks I check out from the library on my nook.  I want to try downloading ADE 3.0 since that seemed to work fine but I can't find a link to download it.  The link for 3.0 on the digital editions website just goes to a list of all the Adobe products and doesn't seem to include ADE 3.0 anyway.  Please help!   Where can I get 3.0 back? 

I am using Adobe Digital Editions 3.0 and I wanted to try out the highlight feature. But now I can't un-highlight that text! Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

This morning I tried to open digital editions on my Mac Book to read some pro tools course books (which I was looking at two weeks ago) and I have received an error message.  I looked through the forums and found some advice to unauthorize my mac and uninstall. Then re-install, re-authorize and redownload the books.  However, I am getting the same message every-time I try to re-authorize. An Error Had Been Detected. Activation Server Error - code E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEYDigital Editions encounter an error on the activation server.To retry, click the Try Again button.I have digital editions on my iPhone and I can access the books just fine on there... Any ideas?
