Dimension

I've used Dimension since it was in Beta. I've used it in my corporate job at least a few times each week since around 2020. Sometimes I want to grab something I built in another Dimension file, so I just import that file. Usually I make sure there's not a ton of random elements or hidden things, but it never caused a problem before the latest update. No I cannot import even the simplest DN file into the current one. I'm attaching the log from the failure.This is a pain in the rear because it means if I want to combine elements, I have to re-import them all. If they are exported Illustrator extrusions, it also means I have to re-arrange them all. This is time consuming and a real problem when it comes to consistency.

[Dimension 4.0.2, Windows 10]Hi there!When adding another light source to a given scene, the overall brightness in that scene diminishes drastically. I sense that this could be connected to the multiple usage of modified »Glow« materials. Nevertheless that seems to be a bug to me.The log files created literally contain ten thousands of »Lantern Parameter Set« error lines ...Cheers

Hello,- Dimension version 4.0.2 - Mac 13.6.8 (15" 2017) (Maybe downgrade version is the solution here) When I move a saved camera, Dimension automaticaly overwrites its position.It's important to be able to test new pov before we decide to overwrite them. regards

Using the new Dimension, but not a newbie with this app - giving the outer wine bottle glass a color green, but it stays clear. It's already called 'glass material', but when I click on the new glass material and select green, nothing happens to change it - in the old version, it would take whatever color you selected. Screenshot attached showing green selection that doesn't work. Thanks for any solution/suggestion.

I don't know what is happening, the program opens, but i can't open any file I've created in the past (either it was created las week or 3 years ago).This is happening not only in my computer, but 3 of my coworkers tried it and it's the same thing. It never opens the file.

Since the update it´s impossible to import models that have been created and saved in the older version of dimension into a scene. I have opened each model in Dimension and updated it to 4.0.2 and saved it since I thought it was a compatibility issue. I´m on Macbook Pro. When I create a new scene and want to import model(s) I get the notification that Dimension needs to be restarted due to an error, I am pointed to a protocol and to post in the forum.Since I have stupidly updated all the models, I cannot revert to an older version of dimension either to be able and get any work done. I hope this can be fixed asap, I have tried restarting and uninstalling + reinstalling, reverting to older version etc.

Hello. I updated Dimension 4.0 and now when trying to save any change I did on the file is asking to save it as a new file or to overwrite the same I´m working on. Does anybody facing the same issue? I´m workig on Mac Sonoma 14,5 with a Applce M2 chip. I would very much appreciate any feedback. Thanks! 

I'm currently encountering a bug in the latest version where Dimension would mix up an imported model’s material slots whenever I try to replace an existing material in the slot where it’s supposed to be while Ray Tracing is turned off. I've attached a diagram to further illustrate this. Figure A: The original material placements.Figure B: When I replace the red face with, for example, the matte material (default color) while Ray Tracing is set to off, the green and blue faces end up on the left and top, respectively.Figure C: When I turn Ray Tracing on, the materials are in the correct faces. 

Hello everyone! How to apply multiple materials to one object in dimension?

I am trying to figure out how to explain this but this is a model I have for a clients product, along with some tincture I'm having this issue across the board. I am going to install previous version to get this done but the files are doing the same thing in Stager if I try there. It's almost like the thickness of the wall on the plastic/glass is thicker... I do'nt know. Please help if possible. I've screenshot with and without ray tracing. Ican send any settings that would do this as well.

Hi I cannot open any of my recently created .dn files. I have restarted Creative Cloud (logged out and in again) and tried reinstalling Dimension - the latest version and an older 3.x version - but I'm getting an error on opening a document. My log file is attached:

No complaint here ....yet. 😉 I promise if I find some bugs like the rest of these folks, I'll be sure to loop you in. Just wanted to give you props for your ongoing support with the folks in this discussion. I love to see this kind of product-ownership and engagement. Especially for an 'obsolete' application. Dimension is a very usable tool and we still rely on it for a segment of our work. Glad it's not dead—appears the rumors of Dimension's demise were greatly exaggerated. Love to see the Dimension | Stager comparison. Very helpful..

Well, to the concrete sections between the bricks, that is. If I place an image like the one shown below on a plane or on a narrow cube, what can I do to make the concrete sections shifted a bit »behind« when rendered? I tried to do it with a bump map, but to no avail 😞 

Is there really no way to add height or bump maps to OBJs in Adobe Dimension? That seems a little crazy.

And opening up several previous version Dimension files, they all seem to be in a permanent real-time render mode slowing down everything. How do you turn this off? When the bugs are ironed out, a brilliant update though. This example here are glass effect objects.  

In new Adobe Dimension 4 version you can note some new features for Dimension. You can also find "history panel" there. I think it is very usefull and it must be included as default in interface. 

Hi! I need to apply the material specifically to a part of the text shape, but the program doesn`t allow me to choose one of the four options. All the options are constantly highlighted, whatever I do. Please help me with that! Could it be a matter of updating? I look at a lot of people who have problems after that.Thank you.
