More and more I'm finding myself working on templates from other design groups that make use of Essential Properties. Unfortunately a lot of these templates use the EP's in ways that run counter to good versioning practices (please stop building workflows that use the Essential Graphics panel in AE for versioning, people!). In trying to restructure these projects for a better workflow, I need to trace just where properties are used as Essential Properties. Unfortunately the only way I can see to do this is to go through comps one-by-one in the EG panel and then use the "Reveal in timeline" feature. It would be great if I could right-click on a property and see a list of comps that have that property as an essential property. It might also be useful to have a way to see a table of all the EP's in the project, including their source layers and containing comps, along with the comps the EP's are attached to. If these Essential Property links were exposed in the scripting API I'd glad
Its possible this already exists and i'm just unware of it but sometimes you end up with a comp with many layers that no longer contribute to the final image, tests along the way etc - but sometimes hidden layers are used as masks etc, so it would be great if we have an option to "remove unused layers" similar to the remove unused footage option, to clean up the timeline
Hello, question about the use of several GPU in my system.Got 4 Nvidia A5000 and was wondering if one day it could be possible like switching gears to choose witch of them I want to use ?. Right one it's by defaut the number 0 of the system always being used.this question could also apply to Photoshop and premiere and ... well all the others ;)))like in blender the ability to pick and choose the GPU ?.good luck!and thanks in advance ;))yann
Currently the Select All commmand (Ctrl+A on Win) appears to always be sent to the timeline. I'd like to request that if the Layer Contents section of the Properties panel has focus, then the Select All command would target that section specifically, allowing us to quickly select all the shape layer contents for the selected layers. This would be a QoL upgrade when working with multiple shapes, or layers containing multiple shapes, speeding up workflow. The existing workflow is to select a shape or group, drag the scrollbar, then shift+click to select the last layer - not difficult, but every bit of workflow optimisation is appreciated! An example use case is wanting update the stroke cap for a whole bunch of layers at once for consistency. As a related request, adding marquee selection to the Layer Contents for making multiple selections would also be appreciated, as I think that there is currently no drag interaction in that panel. Cheers!
Very often, when I add a Layer Style to a shape layer, I'll have to go into Advanced Blending to reduce the Fill Opacity.I think, by default, the Fill Opacity should be 0%. Even better, have a setting where the user can choose this behaviour.
encounter discomfort when coloring keyframes on multiple properties.•As a suggestion, maybe if you select, for example, a property like Position, then if you color a keyframe, the following ones you add would automatically be colored in the same color?•Currently, the problem is that every time you add a new keyframe, it has to be colored separately, and this is a bit confusing. If the chosen color for that specific property could be maintained, it would be ideal.
On layers we have the ability to add a layer mask in compositing options to limit the effect to within a mask. It would be amazing if we also had the ability to also pick whip a track matte layer on a per effect basis. Also addendum: if we could see/select the compositing options/layer masks within the effects window instead of having to open up compositing options on the timeline it would be more efficient. Thanks!Ruairi
Working on a project and running out of cache? Spent the last few days working on your current project and buidling it's cahced data?Deadlines looming?I think it would be handy to have a seperate option to purge the cache for previous projects only, retaining cached data for the current open project to save having to wait additional time to re-render what's already been rendered.
GPU should be used more especially when using shape in animations.GPU utilization too low while working.I want you to use about 80% of the whole.GPUの使用率が低すぎるので70~80%ぐらいは常に使う様に処理を改善して欲しい。現状ではかなり使用率が低すぎる。
I'd like to know whether a character is or isn't selected via scripting. This way you can run a script on that portion of text only, instead of the whole text. Currently, you have to use the Command ID 3018 to apply an animator with a range selector, then read its start and end indexes. And this has to be done before starting any UndoGroup or the text would be deselected.Instead of using the Command ID, I tried this (again before the UndoGroup)var animator = layer.Text.Animators.addProperty("ADBE Text Animator"); animator.property("ADBE Text Selectors").addProperty("ADBE Text Selector");but the second line deselects the text again. So, it's not even an option.Having to use the Command ID and having to use it before the UndoGroup is a bit of a pain in the ass (not to mention that you also have to delete the animator). It would be nice to at least being able to use the above code inside the UndoGroup.Ideally it would be nice to have a CharacterRange object attribute to che
For some reason the 'Source Text' in After Effects is so much more than source text. It contains all kinds of parameters such as Paragraph Alignment (which is not source text imho). Anyway, when generating Soure Text with an expression, the Paragraph Alignment is fixed to Align Left, and can not be switched as long as the Expression is active. Please repair that, or make that setting accessible through Expressions.
I'd love to see a "Text control" option for expression effects, where it would add a blank text box in the effects panel that a user could enter text in to be used in expressions, along with properties for text layers for things like font, alignment, leading, etc. that could be controlled via scripting.
It'd be nice - but probably not easy - to be able to get the destination Premiere Pro's sequence dimensions (and maybe other things such as frame rate maybe?) into an AE expression. This would allow us, for example, to make a one-size-fits-all mogrt that can be dropped into a PPro timeline and would adapt automagically to the sequence's size - with no input such as scaling needed in PPro. I'm sure I'm not alone in having to export many different formats. I currently often create mogrts with a Format menu control, where the user can select from preset aspect ratios, and some expressions in the mogrt then take care of the positioning and scaling of layers and stuff. But it'd be lovely if this could be auto-detected somehow...perhaps in the same way I can use thisComp.width, maybe a thisSequence.width would get the target sequence's information. Obviously AE has no way of knowing the target sequence's dimensions when I'm setting up the mogrt, so maybe it could default to the current
Hello, Absolutely love new track matte feautres. However, the pickwhip is identical to the parenting pickwhip, and the two can easily be mistaken for one another. If there was a way to differentiate the two through use of color or value, that would be excellent. Thank you for you time!
Generative Fill is SO much better. Bring that technology from Photoshop into After Effects to replace Content-Aware Fill. It will make creating clean plates waaaaay faster and much better quality.
This has bothered me for ages and thought it's time to file this cos it's leading to very unproductive sessions. The Expression Error is of course great. However, it works on a Project-wide basis and this is also great - but not all the time. There are quite a few times when I only want to see/knowOf Expression Errors related to the Active Comp. This will make trouble-shooting a lot easier., more focused What also needs to happen is for a button/something to be available in the Comp Panel to allow the user to switch between viewing Project-Wide Errors and Active Comp Errors. Sometimes, errors are part of a setup as it is common for Expressions to reference Layer Names and Effects and these may not yet exist/beRenamed or perhaps they may not be required for the current use-case.
When exporting a Mogrt from the Essential Properties panel, you are given the opportunity to add keywords to the template. However, if you then later re-export the Mogrt, the previously entered keywords are no longer there, and must be entered again. It would be very helpful if AE were able to remember which keywords were previously entered for the Mogrt export of a comp, and to display them the next time an export is initiated.
By any chance, can Adobe provide Bezier Warp working on 32 bits? What about all other effects that are not working in 32 bits: Mesh Warp, etc? Thanks.
When a shape layer does not have stroke or fill on it, it appears in the small fill or stroke window as a "?" - it would be helpful if when applying a stroke or fill in this situation it was automatically added to your shape (instead of needing to add one from the shae twirl down menu). Small improvement but, would be a nice UI upgrade.
I ignored Adobe Illustrator artboards for years, but now I have found some benefits, I'm disappointed that Ae is not aware of those. Please make Ae do something smart when an .ai has multiple artboards.
I'd like to request a read/write layer property (eg. layer.lockedMarkers = true/false), so that markers on a layer can be locked/unlocked (and the lock status determined). Currently the only was of doing this via scripting that I'm aware of is with the Command ID (2565), which is very inconsistent. It doesn't always work properly, it seems that it can lock/unlock layer markers but only lock comp markers. Furthermore, markers that have been locked can still be modified via scripting, so it would be helpful to have a way to determine if a layer's (or comp's) markers are locked, in order to skip that layer/comp.
I'm often having to retime complicated After Effects comps. I can select layers and move them. and all their keyframes will move with them. But often there is also a select group of keyframes on outgoing layers that I want to move at the same time, without moving other keyframes on those layers. I currently can't do this in one operation. I have to move the layers first, then select the group of keyframes and move those by the same number of frames. This is just a bit more fiddly than doing it in one movement 'cause I need to count precisely the number of frames I moved the layers and apply that to the keyframes. Also, on complicated timelines, it requires me to scroll the timeline window and click more often. Generally speaking it would really help if there was a way to do the equivalent of a ripple edit in Premiere. Maybe there could be a way of shortening a layer that causes all non-overlapping layers downstream to move by the same amount and well as downstream keyframes o
Hey! More than once I've been caught out by a render not starting because I missed an alert when pressing 'Render' in the Render Queue. It's often that there's more than one alert that I get caught out, thinking I've dismissed the alerts and the render has started. The feature request is pretty simple - add an audio alert (or the option to have an audio alert) for any event between pressing 'Render' and the render actually starting. This is valuable to me because renders not going when I think they are can be a real problem for production schedules. Cheers!
Having to use 3rd party tools like Duik Angela (which is amazing), Rubberhose etc is ok, but with the advent of Rive Surely it's time we had a powerful IK / AK bone engine built into After Effects. Cavalry is growing but AE performance is severly lacking. Surely... surely they are re-writting the software from the ground up... surely.
User interface scaling, make the text and surrounding elements as big or small as desired. This feature has been requested for years and totally ignored by Adobe. Essentially shouting into the void. Similar issues occur to an extent with other Adobe software. Even when scaling is an option (Photoshop), the options are limited, scale can only go so high (large), and it's not all that controllable. I can't believe that Adobe devs aren't aware of this, so why has it been ignored? 🔍 I'm having a hard time seeing what I'm doing often.
