Hi Adobe and Community, I'm writing on behalf of Deluxe. As a post production facility, we work with XYZ color material for cinema content. Currently, working with DFX graphics in XYZ PQ (Dolby cinema) requires many work-around solutions, usually rendering to P3. This is time-consuming, because it involves additional render steps, and also dangerous, because it clips the gamut and alters source material. It would be really helpful to have color transform options available for XYZ using E white with the PQ transfer function. This would also require a non-DCI XYZ color space with E white (that is, linear white should be a float value of 1.0 instead of the DCI value 0.917). This would allow for DFX graphic creation in an XYZ linear space from XYZ PQ source material and render to XYZ PQ for delivery. This could be achieved using ICC profiles or by creating color transform tools that perform the necessary conversion math on XYZ pixel values. It would be be necessary to add an
I'm sorry to say that rotoscoping in After Effects has not seen a drastic improvenent. It is usable, but still laborious. I had thought with support from Sensei theree would be drastic improvement. Not so. I had a project rotoscoping individual solo dancers from a black background. The dancers were in full fill light. This should have been a relatively easy task. Unfortunately, it was not. Honestly, it would have been faster taking the 115 or so frames from each of the four video clips into PhotoshoP, use select subject, then exported then back out to AE. Roto needs to be retooled to go through two selection processes before you even get to the brush. First, it needs to go through a contrast detection process and make an initial selection based on contrast. Second, it needs to refine that selection using a focus detection pass. Then the user can remove items that are not part of the desired selection using the roto brush and refine the actua
Hi, I downloading the latest AE beta. And trying to drug n drop all folders iton project panel but I have recived error that it can't loading it as a sequence. I think it will be great feature to have ability start with easy drag n drop all your folder structure. For example you have one for Source, another for General Assets like images and otheк random stuff, you aldso have differnet videos in different languages in another folders. This is your project workflow. But today you need to drag n drop all files from each folder one by one.
As senior motion graphics designer and vfx artist that works with 3D render passes on a daily basis, I dont know why you dont already have a way to batch import image sequences and batch replace new versions in a comp. Most 3D artists use render passes nowadays. And importing each render pass can become really really tedious. I have to use scipts to batch import. When I think, it should just be built into After Effects. This does not seem like a huge request that would require rebuilding AE fromt the ground up, because there are already scripts out there that can do it. But they are expensive and some don't work properly. Also most people don't know about them. It would be a big win for CG compositors everywhere, if you could just add this feature in. Could be a script if that makes avoiding changes to the whole import window. However, it seems to me that when you import media there could be a checkbox or button that makes batch import possible, just like we can tell it to import as im
ProblemFor various reasons After Effects reverts to Software Rendering mode in Project Settings.. and sometimes it takes way too long before I figure out that's what's been slowing down my renders. Idea/SuggestionIt would be very nice if there was a tiny icon or something in the viewport, something that quickly alerts me to the fact that software rendering is turned on. That way, if for example I open someone else's project, I'll be quickly reminded that software rendering is turned on, instead of having to remember to go into Project Settings and check.
Is there any way we can get a Chrome-like console for expressions? After a certain point, with a complex expression it becomes really hard to test for bugs as you have to basically run the same code on a text layer or some other property and rewrite the code just to get some sort of output for variables. Being able to have a console would be excellent (especially to inspect objects), but a great stopgap would be the ability to post a value to the info palette, like we can with scripting.Expressions were already important, and with Master Properties they've become even more important. The whole system could use an overhaul—speed, global variables/functions, everything. Thanks!
With the welcome addition of Essential Properties to the Properties Panel it would be good to now move the Effect Controls to the Properties Panel. If this was the case could the Transform, Essential Properties, Text, Effect Controls etc be able to be collapsable (opened with arrow) to make room.
Mask Path / Shape Path improvments: Be able to use align /distrubute panel to align/distrubute selected points vertically or horizontally.-- Select many points. Align all points to same position vertically / horizontally, or distribute them etc.2. Snap path points to grid / guides. As of now path points dont snap to guides which is very annoying. Both of these methods would solve some problesm I have and let me not round trip things through into illustrator overlord as much.
When text is scaled the text size remain the same.Is this not technically a bug? I would love that scaling text would set the text to the correct size. This would also fix a lot of issues i get when work, since i some times forget if i scaled the text or adjusted the font size. See pictures - same font size, but not same size.
A lot of times what I end updoing is I have to import footage, setup it up with the right color space, then if I do a key I have to flop back to the wrong color space to get colors to react correctly, and then flop back. For example some times with a color space transform greens are off the charts and won't key or other effects won't work on top. Doing a flip and the flop back usually works. But just haing a swap button between the input and output lut would be great.
Each time I am wrapping up a project file I need to run the Consolodate footage, Remove unused Footage, and Reduce project. It would save some clicks to have one underneath called Clean Project. It could run all 3 or even bring up a box for additional options such as Remove empty foldersConsolidate Folders that are named the sameMove all solids to same folder
I know this has been discussed but still would be a nice ADD to have it so that you can toggle off layers below and adjustment layer so it does not get effected... I understand the notion of pre-comps, but in many cases, a pre-comp is not the solution I need.
It would be great if any properties that have been added to Essential Graphics get some kind of clear indication in the layers panel that they are driven by Essential Graphics, right now there is no clear way of knowing that a property may be affected by Essential Properties from outside the comp. This indication could be an icon next to the property name, or perhaps even a "pull" button to pull the value from one of the instances where this Essential Graphics comp has been used in the project. (you would need to be prompted to select which instance to pull from)
I worked for years in a 30fps environment. The 10 frame jump was perfect for that environment. Working now in 24, I really miss being able to jump by exactly a 3rd of a second. I would love a way to switch to an 8 frame jump using the shift/ctrl/arrow key shortcut. Thanks for all you do to improve the app!
Hi, I really miss the ability to set the range of the slider using scripts. When creating Essential Graphics (Mogrt) it is extremely necessary, setting ranges by hand is very routine
Here is what I dream about for "Rotobrush 3": 1) It becomes as accurate as Photoshop's Quick Selection Tool. The QST is so freaking good at picking out exactly the areas I want. I wish Rotobrush was even close. 2) Pencil & Pen drawing tools like Photoshop that can add or remove an area to the selection. When I'm staring at a shape I can draw but Roto wants to grab half the frame instead, I can draw around the shape and Roto will add (or subtract) it to the selection and be able to propogate it on successive frames. 3) User-selectable regions for freezing instead of an all-or-nothing like we have now. I know it'll be a little tricky to freeze just some frames between the Roto origin and an end, but I have faith you can do it. Thanks,- DK
Feature idea: When changing the framerate for roto'ing a newly added video, to have an auto switch back option to the original frame rate of the first imported video. Countless times I get caught out with changing the frame rate for a roto, then forget to change the frame rate back to the original video in the comp.e.g.Video 1 has a frame rate of 23.976Video 2 is now imported to roto a head of a person. Frame rate is 29.97 To roto something in Video 2, it would be suggested to change the frame from 23.976 to 29.97. After the roto'ing is done, there's no reminder or auto switch back option to the frame rate of video 1 for the comp.
Just as fonts now, blending modes in Photoshop. Ability to scroll blending modes, effect parameters and other drop down menus with mouse wheel. Thanks
The CC Line Sweep transition plugin is missing the animation function on two of its parameters. Direction & Thickness are missing the animation feature to be able to keyframe or use expressions.
Dear Adobe Customer Support,I am writing to express my feedback and concern regarding the recent introduction of the new 3D gizmo in Adobe's software applications. While I appreciate Adobe's efforts to cater to users with varying levels of 3D experience, I am compelled to share my perspective as a long-standing user and enthusiast of the 3D features.I have been an avid user of Adobe's 3D capabilities since version 5.0, and over the years, I have grown accustomed to the functionality and interface that closely align with industry-standard 3D software. Unfortunately, the introduction of the new 3D gizmo has inadvertently disrupted my workflow and interfered with my creative process. While I understand that the intention behind the new 3D gizmo is to simplify the user experience for those with limited 3D knowledge, I find that it does not align with the expectations and habits I have developed over time. Instead of enhancing my efficiency, the new gizmo has proven to be an obstacle, hinder
It would help my workflows to have Photoshop inspired Layer Comps in After Effects. To avoid confustion with Compositions, perhaps this could be called After Effects Layer Sets. As a designer, I often create muliple design compositions of a layout to show clients. Using layer comps (or layer sets) I could create, manage and view multiple versions of a layout in a single Composition. A layer set would be a snapshop of a state of Layers in the Composition, recording Layer visibility. Since time is also a component, Layer Sets could also record the location of the Current Time Indicator and the location of the Work Area Begin and Work Area End. Here is how it works in Photoshop: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/layer-comps.html I currently make use of Layer Color Labels and duplicate Compositions to do this. Layer Sets would allow for versioning more easily in the same composition.
We need an option to change the corner radius individually like in Ai.
Wouldn't it be cool if you add a function that lets you see which layer is visible and which is not? It would make selecting/deselecting layers so much easier. Right now you have to look left/right to see which layers you need to select. And some of the time you get them wrong because you might have 2-3-4-5 layers the same color and you have no idea which one is which. Right now the bottom layer that has the same color (but its darker) is the layer that has its eye turned off (therefore it won't be seen on the preview because the layer is turned off). The other suggestion I have is for layers to have an indicator that they are using the layer above (or other layer) as a track matte. Again you can look to the left for the track matte window, but you can again select the wrong layer. Right now in the example everything is tidy and clean, but imagine you have 100+ layers that have random colors, different/overlapping durations... Its going to be a mess and such function will allow qu
I would like to request the ability to create custom previews for mogrts created in after effects. We have the ability to do this now by looking inside the mogrt file (using 7zip open archive) and add thumb.mp4 or thumb.png to get a custom preview so why is this not a default setting already? Thanks! The other request, my team uses libraries and there is no way to customize the preview image besides the default way in After Effects which is a still image. This feature would greatly increase the way we use motion graphics in premiere. Also, since we already have the ability to create our own previews with thumb.mp4, this seems like a great addition. If would could just get the ability to drag a thumb.mp4 to the preview box in the after effects essential graphics window, that would be awesome. Thanks! -Kyler
It would be great if all axis and rotations remain visible while rotating a 3D object. When you rotate an axis all the others disappear and is often necessary to see where they end up.
