I wish there was a way to accurately and quickly use color swatches from my Creative Cloud color library in my After Effects projects. I create digital assets for many different brands, so I have their respective RGB colors saved in my CC library. When I choose those swatches in Photoshop, the Hex codes are correct and the colors are accurate. The only way I've found to choose a CC library color swatch in After Effects is by using the eyedropper tool. While this generally works okay, there are certain colors that are inaccurate and the Hex codes don't match. I don't understand why it works fine in Photoshop but not in After Effects. Both working spaces are sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and both use Adobe color management. So the eyedropper function in After Effects needs to be accurate, or there could possibly be a swatches panel in After Effects...or something! Help me out Adobe, I can't be the only one struggling with this.
We need the ability to resolve missing fonts by selecting an alternative installed font from the computer, not just an Adobe font. Ideally it would also be possible to replace specific fonts in a project, even if they aren't missing. The same way most other Adobe apps handle it.
*feature request*Blackmagic announced support for drag and drop .af files into DaVinci Resolve, including access to individual layers via “Split Layers into Place” in Fusion. Much like the way Resolves supports .psd files. I’m receiving more and more affinity files. Would be good if Ae and Pr supported .af natively too. Now I need to open the .af in Affinity and use the save as psd option.
The potential of Media Replacement in MOGRT's for creating responsive design is huge, but it is hamstrung by the inability for expressions to access any information about the media itself. A simple, concrete example is that I am building some MOGRT's for photo treatments, with a simple white frame that needs to match the aspect ratio of the photo the editor drops into it. This would be trivial in After Effects using footage replacement, but with Media Replacement through Essential Properties in AE or in Premiere, when expressions reference the footage they only see the original footage used in the template. This means the editor has to manually adjust the dimensions of the photo frame using fiddly controls in the EG Edit panel.
Hey! The idea here is when importing an After Effects project into your current one, you would have the option to either bring in the entire project, as is the current behaviour, OR to select the specific comp(s) you wanted to import and only they would be brought in, along with the assets used in those comps. This could behave in a similar manner to Premiere importing another project - similar to the 'Import Project' modal. The equivalent option from that list to the proposed idea would be 'Import selected sequences'. The reason this would be useful is to import assets from a different AE project at the moment can be time consuming. There are existing options - either import the entire reference project (which can either result in a bloated main project, or time spent pruning the unwanted parts, with the associated risk of accidentally deleting something that's used), or to reduce the source project and/or some variant of save comp as project. Being able to s
please add un-precomp feature to after effectit will be a great thing to have(with shortcut please)i work with captions, and layers from premier proi always end up doing it manually
Currently the timeline panel stops vertically scrolling when the lowest layer reaches the bottom of the panel.I'd like to suggest adding an option / preference to allow 'overscroll' in the timeline panel so that the lowest layer can be viewed above the bottom of the panel. The primary reason for the request is that it gets a bit fiddly working on the lowest layers, and having the extra working space would make it more comfortable to interact with them.In practice this could be very similar to the 'overscroll' option in Photoshop preferences (Preferences > Tools > Overscroll).A secondary benefit would be that layers may 'jump' less when hiding keyframes.
It would be great that if you could save the certain states of open tabs and after effects like you can in a web browser. I've created an extension that allows me to do that, but after effects doesn't expose currently the open viewer or tabs so to use it I have to click one by one the active comps or select them all in the project window so we just need a way that would allow after effects to expose what concert are open like tabs
small issue, but surprisingly time-consuming during editing. mainly because i still have to manually cut the empty audio parts between video layers.
CC Ball Action with displacement is great! What's not great is that I want to displace based on a different layer. I'm using Depth Scanner to get a depth matte, which works great with CC Ball Action's displacement. But without being able to point it to a second layer, I can't use a depth pass AND see my original image's colors.
Add an option for developers to add tooltip text help to effect property controls. This would help with discoverability of features, as well as reducing confusion when returning to an infrequently used effect, for example in a old project or a received projects. It would be particularly useful for new users to learn AE, or when dealing with a new plugin and the property labels might not be able to fully convey what effect that control will actually have. A global preference to turn tooltips on or off would be useful too, for users who do not want to see them. Perhaps a tooltip activation time could be set by the user too, so that a longer hover would be required to avoid them appearing too frequently for experienced users. Another option might be for tooltips to display in the Effects Panel, Timeline, or both. Some users might prefer to only have them show in the Effects Panel for example, but not want the extra visual density in the timeline. A next-level bonus would be to have the to
NOTE - Title should read ‘Set PER-property keyframe colours’. Typo in the title and I don’t know where to change it 🤦🏾♂️ I’d like to request to be able to set keyframe colours on a per-property basis - for example to set the X, Y and Z position properties to Red, green and blue respectively to aid identification in a busy timeline. Currently keyframe colours can be set on selections, but newly-created keyframes do not inherit from the ones that already exist. Maybe an option to either:a) right click a property and set a colour label from that property, and all keys created from that point would take on the selected colour, or b) have a preference for newly created keyframes to take the colour of the nearest keyframe of the same property. This would probably require an extra option to decide if previous or next keyframe was favoured as the colour source in case of identical spacing. I think that option a) is more straightforward to understand - users would pick a colour for a proper
While it does come off as lazy that a whole bunch of highly needed effects and transitions were bought rather than existing tools upgraded and new ones designed, the Film Impact toolset is still highly welcome. There is a big problem however which is interopability with After Effects. If we have the desire to finish deliverables in AE rather than Premiere it is currently impossible to transfer this data over. Please port all effects and transitions to AE. I know AE doesn't have transition functionality in the way it works in Premiere. But the way Red Giant Universe tackles it is by making effects able to select another target layer to blend the transition to and you keyframe the transition % slider. This is a perfectly acceptable solution that can be implemented. It won't copy paste from PR -> AE but you can at least manually recreate the exact same data.At the minimum I hope to at least see the effects being ported over.
When adding an OBJ to a composition, After Effects automatically warns you with an annoying popup and changes to the Advanced Renderer, but many widely used effects such as Plexus, Particular, Form, Element 3D and Stardust use OBJs using the Basic 3D Renderer. Please add a 3D Preference to not change the renderer upon adding an OBJ to a composition. Having to change the renderer back and get yet another warning dialog every single time is very disruptive to this workflow. Currently neither warning can be dismissed permanently. Warning when adding OBJ Warning when changing back to Basic 3D Renderer
-Option to make all keyframes default color of user choice.-Temporarily disabling the keyframe of your choice to access the effect.
color pickerI think it would be a really useful feature to have quick access to recently used colors or saved colors. When I find myself working with the same clients, using the same hex’s over and over and often use notes or stickies to copy+paste from
With 2026 you release this quick apply option I am not sure is positioned correctly. Move it somewhere else or allow me to modify to my liking.
the whole distort family effects would need some love, but the mesh warp could be a super powerful tool if could :-have access to every points and tangeants positions-lasso select points-scale, shear, rotate the grid to affect only a part of the image -making it 3d-promote it to b 32bpc gpu accelerated-go beyond those request and make it a weapon of choice to my knowledge this effect has been change only once to be able to move points with arrow keys...
The transform box is all well and good but it doesn't really give you the ability to do repeatable graph edits. Its all guesswork. Even the info pane doesn't tell you a scale percentage. For example this is a simple LTR animation (x pos keyframe) that I want to flip and have it go RtL. Ideally I want to scale this keframe over the x-axis -100%. I can click the bottom of the transform box and drag it over and up but I'm just eyeballing the graph until it looks similar, instead of doing an exact transform. Ideally you should be able to double click on the transform box and type in a value or something like that. In blender you would select keyframes, type S then a value. That is very fast, but not really how AE does things, but would love some more dynamic manipulation of keyframes like Blender has.
Typography is an important part of many animations. With the great amount of options designers have with OpenType-Fonts every aspect of a font should be accessible in a modern animation software. Please add all OpenType-Options as seen in the Photoshop Character Panel to be natively accessible in After Effects.
Create symmetrical "smart" guides. Would be helpful if you can hold option+drag from the ruler to create a "smart" guide (maybe in red) that automatically mirrors from the opposite side as well. I'm constantly having to make sure assets are center-aligned on screen and regular guides aren'’t any help in this scenario. If a mirrored guide line was able to be pulled in from the same distance on both sides that would increase my workflow.
Previously requested but wanted to add a few addendums to this really desired item:Love the increasing native 3D capabilities of After Effects and I really wish the workflow of nesting compositions to build complex animations was reflected in the new Advanced 3D renderer. I would love to be able to select or reference a composition from the project panel to be used as a 3D layer's texture. As an animator / designer for screens for live events, we often use After Effects not only to build out large pieces of content (multiple synchronous 4K+ feeds) but also to previsualize in real-time what our content will look like. This is super helpful because we don't have to round-trip still frames or large renders between AE and another DCC. However, creating these previsualization setups can take a large amount of time, much of which having compositions UV-mapped onto 3D objects would save an immense amount of time. For instance, for a curved screen we often are cutting up a composition into mult
In Element 3d by Video Copilot, there is the option to use comps as materials for 3d models. It would be extremely useful if it were to be possible to set comps/precomps in the same active comp as a 3d model to be the material for that model or a texture for one of the materials in the 3d model.Do you (viewers of this post) think it would be useful/cool?
Make the (popped out) composition window fit to screen size by double clicking the top of the window (like every other window on windows). This would create a more focused view and would help with bigger projects on two screen setups.
