Updating from AE 26.0 to 26.5 I found out that the CC Composite effect default settings changed. I found it very useful to have it’s layer default selection to itself but you could always select any other layer from the dropdown menu list, and it’s been like this forever. Now, it’s pointing to “none”, so no layer is selected by default, you need to search in the dropdown menu list, which is pretty time consuming if you are working in a pretty complex comp.I don’t know the reason behind this random minute change, but I think it should go back.Cheers!
AE is basically the only compositor I use now that does not natively have tools for taking a UV pass from a 3D software and using it for projections, textures, etc. Even Autograph has it from day one.
AE's 3D tools are stuck in 1996 because they are a discreet effect and controlled as such. Proper 3D VFX workflows require a good deal of flexibility, an entire monitor full of options, shaders, baking, export forms, VFX standards adherence, 3D data I/O, etc. Worst of all, AE isn't even true 3D. It's 2.5D, and the decrepit codebase can't really be changed without essentially building a new software.Heck, Adobe owns substance 3D now, but to my knowledge has no software that really integrates with it, and instead has left it a messy toolbox of loosely related software with similar UI, and each has one main feature that most 3D software just put together to speed things up. instead of trying to jam 3D into compositing software, make 3D VFX a new software, and make importing the renders, or rendering linked data, very robust. We're talking better handling for image seuences, color space transforms, LUT's, EXR handling, deep image format, 3D track export, the works. Maybe something that ca
I have a problem. Adobe refuses to modernise AE, you ignore all feature requests and you treat your users like garbage. In wish I could be paid to steal a living like Adobe
I’d like Lumetri in AE to be able to export LUT’s in .lut and .cube formats just like it can inside Premiere. When I tried to do it I was surprised I wasn’t able to do that. Going back and forth between AE and Premiere messed with my color grading more often than not, and I always feel like I’m working around it.I think it’s an easy feature any user would agree we need.Cheers!
I often add time remapping to a layer to see the timecode on an imported video layer. It would be great to have a dedicated current timecode readout somewhere in the UI: either next to In/Out in the timeline or even a property under an Info dropdown under Transform/Audio. I don’t have much of an opinion on UX--just the need.Additionally, I would like to be able to paste timecode into the Time Remap effect to drop a keyframe at that for the pasted timecode at the playhead position.
In After Effects versions up to 2024 it was possible to enable UI theme colorizingvia internal console/debug settings (theme colorizing).Starting from AE 2025 this functionality has been removed or disabled, and there is currently no way to customize UI accent / highlight colors. This negatively affects:– readability for long sessions– accessibility (eye strain, color sensitivity)– user workflow consistency across versionsRequest:Please restore UI theme color customization (even as an experimental or advanced option)or officially expose it in Preferences → Appearance. This feature already existed and worked before AE 2025.
Linking effects to specific masks on a layer is a great feature with a wide range of uses. However, if the "Compositing Options" button appeared by default as soon as an effect was applied in the Effect Controls panel, assigning effects to masks would be much faster. we wouldn have to open layers stack every single time just to select the mask to the effect. https://prnt.sc/L0d5y9B558BX
This is currently hidden in the Timeline panel > Effects. Adding it to the Effect Controls panel will make it more obvious to users. Most people do most of their effects fiddling within the Effect Controls panel than in the timeline. (Probably?) This should be added at the bottom of every effect (like the current placement in the Timeline panel.), and default to closed to save vertical space. (See attached mockup) Putting it at the top might make someone think these render/calculate before the effect. Setting Compositing Options’ Effect Opacity to 0% renders/calculates faster (as in, always 0ms) than similar parameters within effects that control their own opacity, like “Blend With Original”. (In my limited testing 😅 )
Add an Iterations parameter to the Compound Blur effect, similar to the existing parameter in Fast Box Blur.Compound Blur can produce noticeably blocky results, suggesting that its internally used blur iteration count may be too low for certain use cases. Exposing this iteration count as a user-adjustable parameter would provide greater control over blur quality and allow users to achieve smoother, more refined results when needed, at the cost of additional processing time.To ensure existing projects remain visually unchanged, the Iterations parameter should default to the number of iterations currently used internally by Compound Blur. This would preserve the existing appearance and behavior of the effect unless users explicitly change the setting.
I want a refund please it was stated on the site when I cancelled my subscription
I think in (very) old versions I havent these readable problems (I using high quality monitor for years).Just do more readable keyframes in Dark Mode. Or add contrast, when Accesible color contrast is active.Or enable to remove the vertical line behind indicator.Actual state (I see just gray vertical line):
Feature Request: Linked Layer Trimming or Trim Point LinkingAllow the In Point or Out Point of one layer to be linked to the In Point or Out Point of another layer, so trimming one layer automatically adjusts the linked layer's corresponding point."Linked Trim Points" — the ability to link arbitrary layer trim points (In/Out) so that moving one trim point automatically moves another.
Missing footage filter should update once some files are relinked. Sometimes Im missing 200 pieces and each are in different folders depending ont he content. But after I relink some of them the list remains the same and I have to scroll around to find the next missing one or clear the filter and filter missing footage again to refresh the list. It'd be nice to refresh automatically after a relink.
Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I’d see such INCOMPETENCE from a company that makes industry standard editing software… BUT NO MEANS OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT!!! 😡😡😡 Even wiring this I’m getting INFURIATED! Me personally, I’ve CALLED and MESSAGED you clowns on Multiple occasions in the hopes to receiving assistance with an issue that would have taken 15-20min Tops! But NO!!! Each time, HOURS on the phone and messaging… YOU WASTE MY TIME AND NOT HELP ME!!! So I would highly suggest to actually start TAKING YOUR JOBS SERIOUSLY!!!!
its a small request, in the next update, can the field be auto selected when the edit guide window is opened, so i can begin typing a new number? love the added functionality to guides, but i hate having to hit tab or clicking in that box to edit the value. can’t tell ya how many times in the last few weeks i just start typing only to realize i just changed the position value to something like 5451203
I need to apply grain frequently in my work to clean plates I’ve created, and it needs to match the 6k/4k HDR plates I’ve been provided. I prefer Add Grain to Match Grain, as it’s quicker and more accurate for me to manually set it. Because of the size of the plates, and the lack of GPU acceleration in this plug-in, it’s the main bottleneck in my rendering speed, plus 32-bit would help with color fidelity. Obviously, multiframe rendering would be great, too, but I would at least love GPU acceleration to start!
It’s pretty much it.Make grain work in 32bit mode - so it doesn’t clip highlights. The entire professional movie industry has switched to ACES - and you know that because you did put ACES into AE.But the one effect we use in every single shot - grain - is still 16bit, WTF?This has been reported years ago, and i mean like 7-8 years ago now.Do not introduce any new features, stop the development - just give us 32bit grain - then you can go back to whatever else you’ve been playing with. Also, you might look into ACES2.0? Netflix is beginning to demand studios working in ACES2.0 and AE is still stuck on 1.3 :/
For some time now we have had roundness control on shapes within Illustrator and Photoshop, and that hasn't necessarily disseminated properly down to AFX. When drawing a square mask with round corners, you get one shot when you create the mask, and then that control is gone. If you created a square mask, there's no way to then create rounded corners. Why not instead of having two square mask options, having a rounding control like Illustrator to be able to round all corners, and be able to lock those controls for each corner together, or be able to adjust them independently? If this could also be added to other shapes of masks too - even better! We have roundness for parametric rectangles in shape layers, so why not masks? Additionally, this is only a simplified roundness that affects all corners. Again, we should be able to disconnect this and have per-corner roundness control on shape layers too.
The new ‘effects pannel visual previews’ in Premiere Pro Beta are super helpful. It’d be great to see the same feature come to After Effects as well. There’s so many great fx in AE that it’s sometimes hard to remember what each one of them actually does.
I'd love to see more built-in composition guide presets in After Effects. While After Effects already supports grids, guides, and percentage-based positioning, more advanced composition guides still require manually creating shape layers or relying on third-party tools. It would be great to have additional presets such as: Golden Ratio Grid Golden Spiral (Fibonacci Spiral) Golden Triangle Dynamic Symmetry Diagonal Composition Guides Ideally, these would be available as non-rendering overlays directly in the Composition panel, similar to the existing grid and safe margin options.Suggested functionality: Quickly switch between different composition guide presets. Display multiple guide types simultaneously. Automatically adapt guides to the composition's dimensions and aspect ratio. Customize line colors, opacity, and thickness. Optionally enable snapping to guide lines and intersections. Display guides without creating additional layers or affecting the rendered output.
sourceRectAtTime() is extremely useful, but it only returns values in layer space. Please add a method that returns the bounding rectangle directly in comp space, including all layer transforms (position, scale, rotation, parenting, and collapse transformations where applicable). This would eliminate complex conversion workarounds and make tasks like responsive layouts, collision detection, alignments, and motion graphics tools much more reliable and performant.
Would be great to have a native, built-in colour swatch panel like all other adobe apps.
I would like versions of adobe apps that run on linux
