Feature Requests

It would be lovely if I could select a field, such as a wall or sky, and tell LR to even out the tones in the brush-delineated area, to eliminate blotchiness and weird darkenings and lightenings.   Existing tools seem to be not quite adequte to accomplish this in skies, a common problem.  Such a tool might somehow "average" the tones' luminosity etc.

The Rec2020 colorspace (aka ITU-R BT.2020) is a critical colorspace for photography and not well supported in Lightroom Classic.   Rec2020 is the preferred colorspace for HDR (and is LRC's working primaries when in HDR mode). Rec2020 is also very ideal for print-related work as it includes many printable colors which fall outside Adobe RGB / P3, and yet avoids the excess of ProPhoto (which includes many imaginary values outside the range of human vision).   You cannot use it via any "edit in" options to open your image in Photoshop, which is especially important for working with RAW Smart Objects. The colorspace options in LRC preferences / external editing are limited to ProPhoto, Adobe RGB, P3, and sRGB.   This would ideally be done as a "JDI", as both LRC and PS support Rec2020, we simply don't have the option in the colorspace dropdown for external editing.   Note that there is limited support now in the "export" pathway (you can select file settings / color spa

Its well documented that you cannot crop to specific pixel dimensions and many people have asked this very question. Just google "crop specific dimensions in Lightroom" Heck even someone has built a plug-in to solve the issue. Do you want this feature? We do.

The History feature is superb in that it allows you to step back to an earlier stage in your workflow on an image and take a different direction from there.   However, it has always mistified me, right from when I started using Lightroon on a PC about 15 years ago, why 'Publish' and 'Export' events are recorded. Yes, they record that you did something with the image ... but not that you did something that changed the image. And if you step back to before those events, you don't suddenly un-publish or un-export the image!   They are fundmentally different, and for me personally, they are about as useful as a chocolate teaptot! I find them useless, inappropriate, dead wood bloat.   I have processes that I run repeatedly for many Collections, which Export or Publish e.g. high-res JPGs of all of the images they contain. With the addition of Content Credentials, Adobe has taken a first step toward allowing creators to make use of Content Authenticity Initiative features. I'd like to suggest a second.   While researching Content Credentials, I found that the CAI defines a fairly extensive set of assertions that can be added to images (see https://opensource.contentauthenticity.org/docs/manifest/assertions-actions/). One potentially interesting set are the "Do Not Train" assertions, such as c2pa.ai_training, c2pa.ai_generative_training and so on, which allow creators to specify whether they want their images to be used for various kinds of AI training and data mining or not.   Because of growing concerns about images being used to train generative AI, a lot of creators would probably welcome the ability to express their preferences and 'warn off' AI scrapers from misusing their work. Much as Lightroom allows us to attach copyright information to images (via IPTC), it would b

A Collections Library Filter. While maybe not the best place, but for idea purposes, i've long wanted the ability to have Collections in the Library Filter drop down. I've worked around this at times using smart collections, but not ideal.    

Hi!  I shoot tethered to Lightroom with my camera facing down (parallel to a table surface shooting food) and the images import with random rotations since the camera is not sure what to do.  To combat this, I have tried turning the auto-rotate on, off, just to camera, to camera and computer - basically every option I know of.  Additionally, I have tried manually rotating images hoping that the "apply to next shot" feature will override the rotation but that does not work either.  PLEASE provide a solution for this, where I can apply the same rotation to all images AS they come in through the camera vs. needing to apply it per-image.  When I have clients looking at my monitor and I have to manually rotate each image it looks really bad and is very time consuming over the course of a full day shoot. This would be so appreciated -  Thank you!! 

Some plugins will add custom fields in the metadata window. For example, Jeffreys plugins add fields that show the URL after publishing to places like Flickr or Tumblr. Would like the ability to add these fields to the Default metadata Panel via the Customize Metadata Panel window.

I'm now using AI Masks (especially the SUBJECT mask) a *ton*... they are great!   In particular, I'm using these for sports photography where I'm shooting lots of bursts in the sun .. and need to dim the bakcground while making the subject brighter.   When you use these a ton, it's very expensive for the AI to have to re-evaluate the edges of the mask ... it takes time and battery ... but there's lots of situations where you want to adjust the brightness/white-balance of the subject and then copy/paste it to a whole bunch of other photos... without needing to re-evaluate the mask edges.   THE IDEA:  on copy/paste of develop settings, separate the mask edges from the mask settings, like this:[x]  Masking       [x]  Mask 1 - settings (brightness, etc.)        [  ]  Mask 1 - update AI-derived edges        [x]  Mask 2 (blue sky) - settings (brightness, etc.)      &nb

Issue: When exporting, and inserting Dimensions into filename, LR inserts the dimensions of the original file instead of the exported file. Hi.   Like many others, I'm a photographer who has found passion and joy in film photography. From collecting vintage cameras, through taking ages to choose the right camera, lenses and film to shoot for an occasion, to eventually developing, scanning and editing my own rolls. It's a lovely way to slow daily life down, almost like meditation.   What I don't love about it, is the fact that there is ZERO reasonable consumer scanning software out there. Silverfast always finds a way to induce anger into an otherwise peaceful process by exporting an entirely different file than shown in its preview, Epson Scan is just horrible to work with and Vuescan... I don't even want to talk about Vuescan.   Wouldn't it be great if Adobe introduced Darkroom, an awesome alternative to all of the above? Software that could be used with consumer scanners like the ones from Plustek and Epson ánd of course for the DSLR-scanners alike, with the Lightroom functionality included (of course alte

Having a color tag on the right is almost useless.  It's not how the eye works.  You scan the list of text, not colors.  Allowing changing the text color would be so obviously useful.

I often review my photos trying to understand what focal lengths would suit me best for specific task. For example, if I shot with 70-200, but ended up cropping significanlty, I would take 100-500mm next time. Right now I have a Bash script which compares my final pictures with RAW originals and calculates what focal length my final crop equals to. For exampe, if I shot at 200mm and cropped 6000x4000 RAW to 3000x2000 JPEG, my script will show me 400mm effective focal length. It would help me a lot, if Lightroom Classic could display focal lenght equivalent of my crop in Loupe view and if I could use it in metadata filter in gallery.

When searching for a keyword in the keyword list (using the keyword filter) only matches with keywords but not those matching with synonyms are displayed. In Lr 2 also matches of those keywords were displayed which had a synonym match. I would like this to be an option in Lr 3, too, maybe user-definable. Usecases: I've got a large list of keywords with most of them having at least one synonym (my keywords are in German and I use synonyms for english translations and other synonyms). (1) When I look for the existence of a keyword I would like to make sure that I've not included it as a synonym already. (2) While searching for a specific topic sometimes I can only remember the synonym (yes, growing older...). In Lr2 I could find it easily by keyword filter.

The field "File Size in MB" is listed in the Metadata of each file/photo. It would be a functional help if this field should also be available in the Filters visible in Organizer. This funtion would enable user to filter and sort all files/photos which have a material size. After visualization user can conclude to remove (after backup to external HD) these large files in order to save some space on internal HD.  Actually this can only be done in Explorer and search afterwards in LR file by file.  It would be a great time saving procedure.

In copy/paste, I can include a crop.  In a preset, I can included everything in the 'copy' except 'crop'.   Allowing this would be very helpful in processing a batch of mixed/similar images, as you could set up a number of temporary presets to be multiple crop/paste 'buckets'.  For image type 'A', use preset 'A'; image type 'B', use prest 'B'; etc.  (crop aspect ratio is not a solution, actual crop is needed).

Would like to see ability to sort folders in ascending or descending order just like the images.

Lightroom Classic is creating preveiws EVERY TIME I press play in Slideshow mode. Why, why why? It doesn't matter how many times I have played the slideshow. I have looked through all of the preferences and can't find a way to skip the process of building previews over and over again. What am I missing?

Hello, please add a keyboard shortcut for the "Automatically straighten the photo" option in the "Crop overlay". Usually, I press "R" to select crop and wish to have another shortcut for "Auto straighten", as it usually works well in most cases. Kind regards,Kristijonas

Currently, this powerful tool can only be accessed manually via the Detail panel in the Develop module. For users who frequently apply noise reduction to multiple RAW images, this workflow can be time-consuming and repetitive. To improve efficiency and streamline editing, I kindly request the following: Add a dedicated shortcut key to trigger the Noise Reduction feature (e.g., Ctrl + Alt + N) Alternatively, allow users to assign a custom shortcut to this function via the Keyboard Shortcuts panel This small change would greatly benefit photographers working with large batches of high-ISO images and enhance overall productivity. Using LR classic Version 14.5.1 with Camera Raw 17.5 on a Windows System.I recently acquired several images using autoexposure bracketing with the intention of creating HDR images later in Lightroom. I realized too late, that during the bracketing series my camera automatically adjusted the ISO value for each raw file. So now the raw files have different ISO and therefore different noise patterns.I can use the HDR function on the RAWs but the result looks quite terrible with re. to noise and the HDR image cannot be denoised using the AI denoising tool.So I then used the AI denoising filter and subsequently applied the HDR function in LR classic. This caused quite dramatic artefacts, it looks to me as if the denoising filter is discarded when HDR grabs the raw images: It would be great if the HDR function would be made compatible with the denoising function.

I would like to request a shortcut key for the Object masking tool.   Long-time user here; I've recently found that the Object masking tool is wildly useful. Not only for selecting objects but also to mask tedious details. It's improved considerable over the years and is now intelligent and accurate! I often use it instead of the brush tool and having a shortcut key would really expedite my workflow!   Thank you for your consideration.

Bursts and bracket shooting is becoming increasingly popular, and faster burst rates mean way more images.  Where the images are required for focus stacking or HDR, it's sometimes difficult to determine the beginning and end of the burst.  It's particularly difficult if trying multiple stacks of different camera settings with the camera on a tripod for a macro of the same item.  It can be done with blank images at the start and finish but this requires moving out of burst or bracket mode then back in again.I understand that high-end cameras are capable of millisecond time stamps.  Whether this is read to the card or not is another matter.  However, assuming the information is available, it should be possible for LrC, to determine which images were shot within say 1/12th of a second (5 fps) or closer, then to mark them with a suitable metadata tag viewable in grid view, with each succeeding bust having its own unique tag.  The interval should be u
