Feature Requests

I recently purchased a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 64GB RAM, 2TB internal drive, and plenty of very flast external TB4 drives. I'm using the latest version of LRC and Ventura. While I definitely appreciate the AI features, the performance in my day to day tasks is quite underwhelming: importing, exporting, and pasting develop settings across ranges of images. I am working on 45 and 100MP RAW files so I know they are big, but I rarely see much multicore usage so it doesn't seem LRC is really using the processors and cores of my machine efficiently. While I'd love the speed of these tasks to be much faster, if that is especially hard to optimize for, perhaps there can be some way to partition LRC's usage of my CPUs so I can work more responsively in parallel. Right now, if I perform a batch export on a range of files, I can't even resume editing on other images while the export is taking place. The same for importing to a pre-existing catalog: I have to wait unil the import is finish
In the Book Module, would like to be able to place a frame around the Photo Description text box like can be done with the Photo. This would help "frame off" the text and make it more presentable. As it is, text looks like it's unorganized and looking for a home.
I use a lot of masks as I'm editing my landscape and real estate photos. I'd love a way to instantly identify whether I'm looking at adjustments in the local mask or the global adjustments in Develop. The problem is that the adjustments look IDENTICAL from one to the other. As I'm moving back and forth, pasting settings from one photo to another, etc... Sometimes I pull up a tone curve, exposure, shadows, or something expecting it to change the Mask, but I am accidentally adjusting the levels on the Global adjustments. My suggestion is to somehow differentiate between adjustments on a mask vs the global adjustments. Could it please be color coded? Hatched? Lighter or darker grey? It would be amazing to be able to see at a glance which adjustments your're working on. I looked around but I can't see any way to color label the adjustments panel yet. This would be a nice feature for me. Is there anyone else who would benefit from this? -Jason
A small suggestion. Deleting images can't be "undone" in LrC and I think it would be practical if deletion could happen after a small countdown of few seconds (I suggest 5") Select Photos > Delete > Countdown Bar appears in the "Status and Activity" > photos can be deselected AND are deleted when the countdown bar reaches the end. As for any other "Status Bar" bar we could stop the process altogether by clicking X It's a small thing but would be a good "safety net" to have.
Dropping files on Develop mode is not allowed, only on Library module. My suggestion is when dropping files into lightroom -> switch to Library mode and open import window. A small change that can be useful. Thanks
This is a feature request for Lightroom Classic: I'd like a metadata field for "photographer." I have tens of thousands of photos in my catalog that I didn't take - by friends, families, coworkers, etc. and I'd like to be able to note that in a field that says "photographer." I'd imagine in a more professional setting, you might have different people in a studio editing and shooting and you might want to keep straight who shot which photo. Plug-ins can do this, but I just want it built in for simplicity. Lightroom Classic has fields for creator, artist, copyright, image creator, and other similar ones, but no "photographer."
I sugges to implmet the abilityto Copy and/or Paste Mask Settings form/to other Masks. It would be simple enough to have two entries via Right Click as shown in the mock-up UI below. .
If you are dumping out a series of images, you may not do that in a block. You'll work in sections Exporting out with identical settings. Why then does Export with Previous (on Mac) to Hard Disk keep asking for a folder and not actually remembering where you just saved the files 30 seconds ago? It defaults to a folder I saved to probably about 5 years ago. I can understand Export... asking you for a different folder each time. But Export with Previous when it follows shortly after the last Export. Previous implies the settings and the folder I just used.... 12.3 macOS Monterery and Ventura.
Hi all. ACR allows to Copy and Preset only the Modifed Settings in our photos. The same feauture should be implemted in LrC.
The behavior in Loupe view is very confusing when multiple images are selected. Over the years there's been a steady stream of users posting their confusion. Despite myths to the contrary, there is no single unifying principle for this behavior. In a better world, Adobe would implement a simple, easy to remember rule for all commands. With many of the commands, the keyboard shortcuts and right-clicking on the Loupe image only affect that image (the most selected image). But right-clicking on a filmstrip thumbnail applies to all the selected images (even if you can't see them because they're scrolled off screen). Commands in this category include Paste Settings, Set Flag, Remove From Quick Collection, Remove From Collection, Remove Photo (from folder), Create Virtual Copy, Edit In > Edit In Photoshop, Edit In > Open As Smart Object. But Reset and Proof are exceptions -- they only apply to the most-selected image. Some commands operate on all selected photos regardless of
I posted this in the discussion forum to see if anyone knew of a way to make this happen... and I'm guessing it's just not possible, so I'm posting here as a request. 🙂 ----I'm totally loving the use of AI masks to select subject and "make it pop" ... so I now have a preset which changes the SUBJECT and also inverts/duplicates the mask and dims the BACKGROUND.Rather than do this for each image one at a time, I want to apply this AI effect, in bulk, to ALL my images at import time and get the previews generated while I'm away from the computer. (it's faster/easier to remove or alter the mask than to add it!) TODAY'S MISSING FEATURE: it seems that my presets don't actually execute the AI analysis at import time. All the images say "your AI masks need to be updated". As a result, this is now a 3-step process where each step takes minutes:- import- select all, choose "Update AI Masks"- select all, choose "Make Previews"Would love for
Often when I've doing a shoot, I need to create a series of collections from that shoot to sync online. Lightroom Classic automatically opens that shoot, when really I just want to continue making more collections. To help Lightroom Classic could have an 'Open Collection' option which is on by default, meaning behaviour is unchanged for the current user. Those that don't want it can uncheck it. There is precedence for such an option already: The 'Select the Previous/Current collection during Import' checkbox in general preferences. Steps: Create a new Collection Expected behaviour: The user can choose if the collection opens. Actual Behaviour: Lightroom Classic always opens the collection. Workaround: Take much longer and go back to the folder, find where you were to start creating the next of the 10 collections you're trying to make.
The Auto Import feature could be really useful but it does not allow users to handle files in the same way as the "standard" import routine within Lightroom, and this makes is problematic to use.For example:I use a Canon 7D which auto imports images into the "final destination" folder, then when I open Lr I can run the Standard import routine to apply metadata & presets etc. The cataloguing structure I use is a main folder named 2011, and each new batch of images goes into a separate folder named automatically by the date the image was shot, which makes things really easy.Auto Import does not appear to allow me to replicate this simple and effective workflow, and it would be really useful if it did.Any suggestions welcomethanks for your interest
Enhance the develop presets panel by allowing the user to right-click on a preset and select "Apply to New Virtual Copy." This will create a new virtual copy of the photo with the selected develop preset applied to it. This will save a lot of time since I am often applying several presets to the same base photo. Additionally, this same action should be accessible via middle-clicking on the desired preset.
Why can I not import WAV files into Lightroom; used an Olympus OM EM1x with a Sony Tough card the files and WAV loaded onto the desktop fine but when trying with Lightroom it does not even show that the WAV file exists. Please someone help it is driving me mad!!!!
When shooting panos the spherical projection gives sometimes a to horizontally stretched image wheres the cylindrical projection is stretched to much vertically. It would be nice to have a slider to adjust the with of the image to stretch or squeeze it. At the same time it would be helpful to be able to adjust the horizon.
This seems like a no-brainer... to be able to toggle between any zoomed position and Fit View while editing. Often I'm zoomed in while working on refining a mask and need to view the full image, then toggle back again. But there's no shortcut key for Fit view. You have to click on "Fit" in the Navigator or Hit Cmd - several times. Although it zooms out, it doesn't go to Fit view. You should be able to press the number "0" to always return to Fit view.
When hovering over a develop preset, your image shows a preview of how the image will look with the preset applied. When hovering, LR Classic should also preview the adjustments that would be made in the Basic editing panel. For example, the Warm Contrast preset should preview how much the White Balance and Contrast sliders will move if the preset is applied. The affected sliders should be highlighted in a different color and there should be a positive or negative number above the slider point to indicate how many units up or down that adjustment will move. This will help show how presets affect the image and will help you get the style you want if you like some of the things the preset would do, but not all of them. In the example above, if I like the new white balance, but not the increased contrast, I could hover over the preset to see how much the white balance would change (and in what direction) so I could make only that change manually. Conversely, I could see how m
Cordialement
Hello: I am building a website and have bought 1000 svg icon and want to view them and classify them with Lightroom. I just have seen that this is not a supported file format. It would be great if Adobe makes all this graphic files ready to be seen and catalogued on Lightroom. PNG and PSD are fine but for webs more and more svgs are used, and it would be great to have the opportunity to have them on catalog with the other graphic files.
The new AI Denoise DNG files break my Publish Service workflow. For photos that have been publish service collections prior to Lightroom Classic 12.3, we need an additional feature in Publish Services that allow us to automatically replace the photo in the publish service with the DNG RAW. Example: in 2022, I place a photo in the publish service. Now with AI Denoise available in LrC 12.3 in 2023, I denoise this photo, it looks a lot nicer, and I want this in my publish service. Right now, the only way we can do this is to add this new DNG to the publish service, but the old version of the photo is not replaced. This is not what I want. I only want one version of the photo in the publish service, the new DNG. Of course, I can remove the old photo manually, but a feature that allows us to add this DNG to the publish service while automatically removing the original from the publish service would be extrememly helpful. As an alternative, we could select the original photo in the pu
The title speaks for itself. I rather often reset LRC preferences because of some tools and behavior slowdowns and freeze. And each time I have to set my preferences again (which is already annoying) but also have to skip the hints popups which come back again and again. Why can't we just bypass this thing with a proper option in the general preferences?
I've been shooting and sharing a bunch of sports photos -- and I publish a gallery using Adobe Lightroom albums. For sports photos -- it can be really nice to include animated GIFs of a great play -- and they are easy to make with Photoshop. The problem: the Adobe online albums don't show the animation. it would be super-cool if this just worked so people viewing the gallery would see the animation.
So the new AI denoise feature is game changing. Love it. But it does spit out 90-150mb files for 20mpx raws, which is not practical for me. I have to then compress them using convert to dng > lossy compression. It would be GREAT if this was an option to do this during the denoise process so I don't need to do extra steps. Since it's a stacked additional file, I don't personally mind lossy compression but I do mind an additional 30gb of storage required for the workflow.
Hi.Please make AI Denoise collapsible in the Detail panel just like Manual Noise Reduction is. I get that you want to advertise this new feature, but due to various reasons (processing speed, the fact that it creates separate file) it will not be used on every image by a lot of users. In my opinion it doesn't even belong to develop panel - having it under Photo>Enhance is more than enough. But I get that someone may like having it under Details. So to benefit for both points of view - make it collapsible like you did with the Manual Noise Reduction. This way it will be there for those who likes this, and will allow to collapse for those who doesn't. At the moment it just wastes a lot of space in the pannel for this button and description underneath.Thankyou.
