Drag Edited Images in Lightroom Directly to InDesign which automates Export and Creates Shadow File Folder Structure of Edited Files.
I am missing a way to fast and easy see the aspect ratio of a photo. I have several virtual copies of an image, with different aspect ratios depending on use. 4:3 for print, and 4:5 for Insta and so on. This would be a time saving feature for quickly exporting the right image at the right time. I am aware that adding a tag, or colour would achieve the similar effect. But again, thats adding another step and taking more time. As cropping and aspect ratio is just a part of the established workflow of every photographer. Having this information ready would save time and increase efficiency. I am thinking Loupe View should have this info. Either as a separate data point to ad in the "Library View Option" or as a part of "Common photo settings" like this:1/125 sec at f/2,8, ISO 800, 100mm (FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS) 4:5 Or as an attribute data point when sorting. As of now, the only way to "check" the aspect ratio is to enter Develop mode and select the crop tool. So, two
It would be very helpful to have the option to have a unique renaming option for each external editor. For example, one could automatically rename a file with "_Ps" appended to the file name after external edits in Photoshop but have the rename automatically be "_D" for Topaz DeNoise.
It would be great if we could import Dual Pixel Raw files eg. from Canon 5d IV into Lightroom and work on/edit the secondary file within it. I realise some people want the secondary file to slightly alter the DOF or something like that, which may be difficult to implement. However, there must also be people like myself who simply want the secondary file for its -1 stop exposure which we would treat just like any other raw file (once its been imported of course). Any chance this could be done for the next update? thanks
Lightroom can be/should be a powerful partner app to In Design. It is not! Why? Why can I not use Lightroom as a DAM system for managing Image files - to organize, to edit and to integrate with In Design Documents via Link with edited Image files? There is a huge benefit to workflows to be achieved. Presently the apps are ignorant of one another. There is no "ecosystem" of integration that adds any value. In fact the two apps conflict with one another. There should be the capability to drag and drop image files from Lightrrom Classic Lightbox to an InDesign Image Frame which dynamically exports the edited file with option to reside the exported file in the original source folder or a new or existing folder that can be part of an In Design Document or in a Shadow folder hierarchy of the LR Folder hierarchy. This is a no brainer!
I asked the system to move some files and generate a bunch of previews before going to bed. A couple of minutes in, Lightroom couldn't find one of the files, so it presented a messagebox letting me know. This notification box, until you click OK, seems to pause all running tasks... so I didn't get any of the previews generated overnight. I was hoping to have a more productive day that doesn't involve waiting for previews. 1. Seems unnecessary to prevent a preview generation task if that task doesn't have an exception. 2. It would have been nice if the task continued to move the many thousands of files that weren't in error, still present the warning that one or more files couldn't be found.
I've installed new Lightroom version 11.0. When I draw a radial gradiant, the red overlay is now on the inside of the gradient every single time. In previous versions of Lightroom, by default the changes made to the radial gradient were on the outside, or at least, Lightroom would remember the last radial gradient you drew and the next one you would draw would be either inverted or not depending on the previous one you drew. Lightroom no longer remembers the last gradient you drew. I mostly make changes to the outside of the radial gradient, so now every time I draw one I have to invert it. Or is there a way to make it behave like it did before? Another irritation is the red tool overlays are now always on when you draw them. In previous versions, the tools would remember if you had the overlay turned on the last time you used it. Or you could hover your mouse over the pin to display the overlay. Is there a way to make this behave like it did in the past so that it doesn'
When creating or multiple or more complex masks, the mask panel quickly consumes a lot of space. Docking it in the right side tool panel will reduce the working space significantly. Having it in its floating state it usually is in the way too. There I propose that the mask panel can also be docked to the left side.
I wish LR Classic had a dedicated Matte tool, like the one in Luminar.
It would be nice to not have to apply a curve to see the changes to the image. We can hover on presets and profiles and see the change in real time but curves must be manually applied in order to see the change. This is helpful because as I've made and saved curves over time, I often forget to experiment with them becuase of how arduous it now feels to try them, where with presets and profiles it's a quick hover to get a sample of the changes that would be made to the image.
Merci d'avance !
I'm pleased to see the new denoise feature in Lightroom Classic and whilst it's a very good first attempt it still falls short of Topaz in my opinion and I thought I'd start a thread for feature improvements that people want. Please only use this for feature requests and not bug reports as I believe there's already a thread for that. The features I'd like to see added to the Denoise feature are:- 1. The ability to mask 2. Control over the amount of original detail preserved 3. The ability to change the zoom level of the image, all we have now is full image or huge magnification. Sometimes I'd like to zoom in but not as far as it does.
As of now collapse/expand all option is only available for profiles. It would be helpful if this action could be done within the presets list as well.
Since CC allows us to update and backtrack and maintain multiple versions of software, as well as test betas, I would greatly appreciate the ability in the Lightroom CC settings/preferences to set the primary default external editor to the version I want without have it create presets for additional editors. It would make things simpler and as it is now, beta products take precedence over the stable, so if I install a beta of Photoshop, then Lightroom automatically make the beta the default external editor. I'd rather it not and having the ability to set the primary external editor, like we used to in earlier versions of Lightroom, is a benefit for the customers. Thanks for considering.
One function I find invaluable, that is available in Capture One but not in Lightroom, is the availability of the Curve Tool in the masking portion of the Develop Module. Can you please add Curve Tool function within the Develop Module's Mask Tool? thanks, Ed Rudolph
When creating an HDR image in LR Classic (or any other program that supports this plugin), the Ghosting Overlay is automatically created. Sometimes, this process is a bit too eager and masks very big areas of the image when actually only smaller pieces would need anti-ghosting. Maybe because of noise or whatever. It would be cool if the ghosting overlay mask could be edited manually to only focus the parts of the image that you want to be de-ghosted.
I think it would be nice if the soft proofing feature not only did print but did digital social media proofing as well. I know many photographers use different export tricks to try to limit instagram compression or sharpining or cutting down the resolution. It seems like it would be nice to 'see' how it would look while editing to make the most of sharing it to socials.
The following fields from IPTC Extension are not available in Adobe Lightroom Classic: CV-Term About Image Genre (generic, not Intellectual Genre) Product Shown in Image Having these fields are critical to my curent use case and will enable mapping to a DAMS that does not yet write metadata to files but instead pulls the metadata on ingest,
I appreciate the new masks in Lightroom but I really think you need to permanetly integrate them into the workflow so to ease their use. 1)We need a permanent mask tab on the develop panel. Every time I open a new photo I have to open the mask tab even if it has already masks inside. Furthermore we need a way to switch to the zoom tool while the mask tab is open. I know that there are other ways to zoom but nothing beats the shift+click+drag. And last my develop panel has the width to fit 2 or 3 masks in a line. Why there has to be just one? 2)Yes Yes Yes, I want all my masks merged. If I want them replaced I'll inform the president. Do I really have to click it every time? 3)When I copy settings I also want to copy if a tab is on or off. It doesn't make any sense copying the settings of an active tab and paste them on an inactive tab and visa versa right? 4)Why did you make the tab switches so small? Are you afraid that someone might see them? Yes I play FP
To import photos located on a cloud drive to LR one must first copy them to a local drive to import them. After importing, one must move the files back to the cloud drive and repoint the location in LR. This is a real kludge workflow. Why can't we just import from the cloud drive
Microsoft has announced a new DirectX12 GPU optimization feature in conjunction with Resizable-BAR, called GPU Upload Heaps(opens in new tab), that allows the CPU to have direct, simultaneous access to GPU memory. This can increase performance in DX12 apps/games and decrease system RAM utilization since the feature circumvents the need to copy data from the CPU to the GPU. See https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/preview-agility-sdk-1-710-0/ for full details
I bought a Surface Studio when they were released in hopes that I would be able to edit directly on the screen with the use of the Surface Dial complimenting the Surface Pen, but I was sad to find out that there was no Adobe support for the Surface Dial, especially in Lightroom. Can someone please tell me when Adobe will enable functionality for the Surface Dial in Lightroom and Photoshop. It seems like a perfect use for the Dial to use it with the pen and edit right on the screen of the Surface Studio. 🙂
I would like to be able to have a much more granular customization of the Develop Panel. To be able to decide the order of each sliders and tools (or group of slider in case of sliders acting on the same effect like sharpening or grain). Similarly I would like to be able to customize what slider and tools go in which module, and to create or delete modules. For example, I'd like to be able to decide I want vignetting to be in its very own module, rather than with grain in the effect panel. Or I would like to be able to create a "color" module, with color balance, vibrance, saturation, HSL. Possibilities are endless. Similarly I would like be able to place the top modules (crop, red eye, masking etc) among the other module in the scrolling pane, for example to have crop module between sharpening and transform. And to be able to "pin" any module to the top, for example pinning the curve module. Here again possibilities would be endless. Photography has very diverse genre, and mayb
I am colorblind/challenged. I see color but am unable to identify certain colors when editing i.e. brown/green, blue/purple, red/green. It makes for difficulty when doing subtle color edits or enhancements. It would be great if LR could have a feature that when the cursor or edit brush scrolled over a color in the develop panel, it read out the color for those like me who arent sure. Any thoughts on this? Thanks so much.
It seems to me that "Preview Quality" setting within Catalog Settings impacts both Standard previews and 1:1 previews. The low/medium/high setting has a very noticeable difference on the quality of 1:1 previews, and standard previews when set to "High Quality" take up about 5x more storage than standard previews when it is on "Low Quality". I use 1:1 previews to cull through my photos, and again to review every photo after making develop module edits before I export them, so I need the 1:1 previews to be the highest quality possible. However I don't care about the quality of the standard previews for every image in my catalog, and even with standard previews set to the lowest pixel size option, my previews file on my computer is still massive because I need to have the "Preview Quality" setting on High. I need my 1:1 previews to be the highest quality, but I wish there was an option for me to separately set the quality of standard previews to low in order to reduce the the stora
