Adobe Experience Manager is a complete content management solution for building websites, mobile apps, and forms. Adobe FrameMaker comes with native integration with Adobe Experience Manager. Using the CMS connector in FrameMaker, you can easily connect with Adobe Experience Manager to create and deliver your technical and marketing content. With features like automatically checking in files on close or checking out files on open, working with Adobe Experience Manager has become very easy for FrameMaker users. There are more controls such as multi-file check-in, checkout, and cancel checkout to help you work seamlessly with Adobe Experience Manager. If your organization uses two-factor authentication (2FA) or Single Sign-On (SSO), then use the SSO option in the Connection Manager to connect to your AEM server. For more information, see Set up the Adobe Experience Manager connector. See a video on Native integration with Adobe Experience Manager.
FrameMaker already supported generating 508-compliant PDF and responsive HTML5 output. The latest release of FrameMaker comes with even better compliance to PDF 2.0 standards. Your PDFs will now render seamlessly on the mobile version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is in addition to the existing tagging feature available for generating a PDF in FrameMaker. For more information, see Bookmarks and tags. See a video on Greater content accessibility for PDFs.
Hello, I am working through my first extend script. FrameMaker 12 Windows 10Given a specified path (say "C:\MyFiles\FM_Format") containing a list of *.fm files which belong to a frame maker book, I want to save a *.mif copy of these files into a different folder (C:\MyFiles\MIF_Format). I've figured out how to iterate over an open book, open each file and how to save the file as an mif file. What remains for me to do is 1. Determine if the MIF_Format exists. 2. If it does not then create it. 3. Otherwise, clear all the files in that folder (delete them). I have seen another post indicating that I could write a batch file to perform these three tasks and then I could invoke this batch file from within the script, which is great. I was just curious to know if there were native functions that could perform the same? Thanks for any feedback.Egan.
This has happened to me many times: I open a document from a previosu version of FM (version 11) and I save the file as FM 2020. When I go to reopen the document, it gives me the error message: Although this appears to be a framemaker document, it can't be opened with this release of the product. This is a serious bug! Please fix as soon as possible!
Friends, Romans, Countrymen, please enlighten me.While I can make links from text (or link table) to the object parts or views, the opposite does not work:When clicking on a part I expect to jump to the corresponding named destination. An explicit gotolink command works as expected (see Manual test in the attached files). However, the procedure as described under "Link from part to text" does not provide the desired result. BTW this procedure is the same as described in Help or elsewhere. In the files you see Named destinations FLengineSpinner and fl_engine_propeller. After creating the pdf for the first time I noticed that named destination eliminate the underscore, hence I left it out for the one item for test - but that did not help either. The named destinations in pdf are not the same as you work with in FM, they have a 'prefix' Mn.newlink.fm_link_name (with n being the file number within a book). But these 'expanded' destinations are not valid in the hypertext command
HiDoes anybody know how to delete this line? I can't access it via the Body, Master, or Reference Page. Any thoughts? Here's the offending line (which is outside of the frame, as shown below).
The publishing system we've been using for years at my work recently changed. Previously, when you clicked a link/cross-reference for a PDF, the link destination would open up to a full page fitting in the window. With a recent update, links will open up with the location of the cross-reference marker being at the top of the page. Is there a way to fix this globally in Framemaker?
My translator sent mif files to me with a Russian translation of English text I sent to him. He uses either FM 2017 or 19t and I have FM 2019 32-bit. The font he is sending is in the expected Verdana font with the language set to Russian. However, I don't see the Russian characters, rather a set of symbols. When I try to change the language to a different language, including English, the same set of symbols appear. Is there a solution to this issue?
when i go to print my document to check for picture page placement, its bringing up this dialog asking about mini TOC. I do not want this document associated with a mini table of contents and i am not sure why this is appearing. When i go to search inquiry on the top of framemaker. i dont know a mini TOC to delete. is this document tied to a book somehow. i am new to framemaker and having alot of issues. thank you
I'm playing around with regular expressions (for the first time; yes, I'm late to the game) in FM2019, and I'd like to create a library of commonly useful regex search/replace strings for my colleagues to use. To make it convenient, I'd thought of putting a selection of these items on a reference page in our basic chapter template, so it would always be just View>Reference Pages away, or perhaps including a separate regex list as part of our book template... but I'd like to make it even more accessible: Is there any way to make saved searches accessible directly in the Find/Change dialogue? I know Find/Change saves a history of recent strings as a drop-down list in both the Find and Change fields; is there any way to "seed" those lists with predetermined strings (or some other way I haven't thought of to save searches)? This is a nice-to-have, rather than urgent, need... but it sure would be nice to have. Any insights would be, by me, greatly appreciated!
My group's work (using TCS2019) frequently involves incorporating PDFs from other sources (e.g., engineering documents and outputs from our pricing system) by importing them into frames in our FrameMaker books. Generally this works well, retaining the copyability and searchability of the embedded documents in our final PDF output... but recently I've discovered that documents from one source are not searchable or copyable in our final output, even though the PDFs I'm incorporating are searchable and copyable in their own right. My preliminary read is that it's some artifact of how the providing group is generating their PDFs... but before I go asking them to change their process, I was wondering if anyone could think of something I might be able to do on my end to correct this? Something in the settings or properties of the input files that might be relevant, for instance. FWIW, we use "Print Selected Files..." rather than Publish to make our PDFs, because there are some util
Hi, I think I have a very basic question, but as usual I can't find an answer in my Framemaker books or online. I'm starting to think I'm am idiot. But this group always comes through for me, so here goes. I am trying to design a simple header. It has four elements:A logo on the left side (small image file)A logo on the right side (small image file)Text in the middle (specifically, two lines: the document type in 18pt font, and then the title of the documen in 12 pt. font)A line underneath it all All total, we're looking at about in inch of material in height, stretching across 6.5" near the top of the page. If I just put the images on the right and left side and then add the text, the images are partially hidden. If I try to put them in a table, I can't figure out how to start the table at the insertion point, and I end up with a big space above it, which pushes the logo down too far. I know this has to be a lot easier than I'm making it. Please help. I have been w
In my FM19 project I have one book file and 15 FM files, one for each chapter. Each one having a chapter title, heading 1, heading 2 etc. When I generate responsive html 5 output, I get the toc/search/etc to the left, and the main contents to the right, with one html page for each chapter. Is it possible to get all the chapters together in one single html page? (Just like the pdf file.)

I'm new to structured framemaker (v15) and am working in a rather large dita map. I'm going in and out of topics and prefer to work with the element tags visible. Every time I open a new topic I have to go back to the View > Element Boundaries (as tags) setting. But with 150+ topics this is getting very tiresome. Is there any way to configure this in options or settings? Maybe in one of the ini files? Help!
Dear Support team,I ordered and installed the lastest version of Adobe Framemaker. My user's need to work with Framemaker 10. How can i download the version 10 of Framemaker?Thank you,Peter Hubicsak
Hi there, some of my images need manual scaling because they are too small. I do that in Object Properties > Scaling (%). Then I click Apply and Save. In the open FrameMaker sheet, the scaling seems to apply, the image gets bigger, but when I build the PDF, the image is small again.I thought that maybe I have to import them in the right scale and tried this, but even then, FM automatically rescales (only some of!) them supertiny.Does anybody know how I can solve this issue? Any suggestions are welcome! 🙂 Thanks a lot for your help!
Working on a single source file to export as a .pdf and .html 5. Dozens of images, all screen shots since this is a software IFU. All of the captions were added in FM. This looks great in .PDF. However, the images are too blurry to read the screen content. I can get them to the correct size, but the distiller just shrinks the quallity too much. I am going to have to find a very time consuming workaround if i can't fix this. Any guidance is appreciated. I did create a distiller setting that does not compress images . . . to no success.
Hi All,In my C: Drive I have a fodler called Test (C:\Test) with two files inside of it.abc.fmxyz.pdfIn my abc.fm file, I have Syntex which says "See xyz.pdf" Question: In my abc.fm file, how can I create "See xyz.pdf" as Hypertext (or link) so when I publish it as PDF file, it shows "See xyz.pdf " as a hyperlink and when clicked it opens xyz.pdf file in seperate window. Please Note: When I send client folder Test with abc.pdf and xyz.pdf.When they open the abc.pdf and click on the link "See xyz.pdf" it should be able to open it considering they both are in the same folder. I know I had done this before many times in FM12 without a problem but it appears that FM2017 and FM2019 does not have these option anymore. I would apprecaite any help that you can provide.Thank you.
In our company, we share the site dictionary to control hyphenation. This works fine with our FM2015 instances but not with FM2017. Does FM2017 work differently with the site.dict? The entries from our site.dict are not included in:%userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Adobe\Linguistics\UserDictionaries\FMSiteDictionary\all\added.txt
Hi All, I have few questions about PDF Document & Framemaker:Can we import PDF file into Framemaker? What are the Steps? If PDF Document has Links, will those Links create Cross-refs, once they are imported into the Framemaker? How are links imported? Any of your response will be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
Hi all, I'm having trouble getting a placed video to autoplay and loop upon publishing to HTML5. Anyone have luck passing these parameters into output? -Matt
Hi, I have a 80 chapter book file that displays in a three 'tiers' tree in the LH side window. I use this constantly to organise files in the book. When I make a change to the Master Template, a paragraph style change for example, and want to apply that template to all files in the book, I do this using Import Formats. To do this all files must be visible in the tree view, that is all the + icons must be expanded out to - icons. In a larger book this is time consuming as I don't generally leave the tree view expanded fully as I'm working with it.Is there a way to 'expand all' and 'collapse all' in this LH side tree view? I have searched and can't fined where to do this. Thanks, Mark
I am a tech writer taking on the task of updating technical manuals, which were originally developed in FrameMaker 2017. I was given the latest FrameMaker 2019. When I first opened the documents, they required for me to update since they were developed in an earlier version (2017). I did this and it seems the first 6 of 7 volumes went fairly smoothly. No major issues, until I came to Vol 7. It seems the document had numerous imports of text from Word which maybe the source of my problem. Section 7.4 (Heading2) works. Inserting Sub Section 7.4.1 (Heading3) works. But, when I insert the next Sub Section (Heading3), it shows 7.4.1 again. It will not advance! I checked everything! Variables, Document and Paragraph Formating with numbering. The good Sub Sections (3.1.1, 3.1.2 etc) are fine and the formats are the same. I did a little testing and inserting Heading3 on the next sentence after the first 7.4.1 and Heading3 showed 7.4.2! I then moved my insert point to the next paragraph and Head
This is a follow-up post to my previous thread titled "How can I save anchored frames as SVG during XML export?". I've been mostly successful with using Inkscape for EPS-to-SVG conversion of FrameMaker anchored frames during XML export. However, FrameMaker's EPS export filter has a bug where it omits line properties (dashed, solid, etc.), which renders thousands of figures in one of our books incorrect (they use solid and dashed lines to indicate the result of geometric operations). The venerable MIF2Go utility internally uses a FrameMaker-supplied SVG export filter, described in this post from 2010: That's correct; in mif2htm.ini, you set: [FDK]GraphicExportFormat=SVG Then Mif2Go tells Frame to use its native SVG exportfilter. Note that we did *not* write that filter; itis Adobe's. So if it does not match your needs, wecan do nothing about it. So apparently FrameMaker *does* have a FrameMaker SVG export filter provided with it, somewhere. MIF2Go uses inte
