I am trying to assign different values to one key name and differentiate them based on the product attribute such that when I refer to them using the keyref command they take the corresponding value for their product. But it apparently ignores the product and all the keywords for all the products take the value of the first keydef. There is a known issue between framemaker and the army 40051C dtd whereas fm graphic element is empty but the 40051C dtd graphics element is a container with mapref*. Result is that the xml file you build will not validate because it shows as undefined.  Is there a rwr or application rule that will get around this problem?

All of our graphics are linked to a separate network location from the FrameMaker files.We moved graphics files to new location. so now it is asking to connect every images from new folder.i have n number of images so it is taking time to update all the images. is there any quick way toupdate images from new folder?.framemaker file looking images from old location. if im giving update document to use new path once also it is not taking images automatically.is there any way to edit link?

I use DITA bookmaps to publish my books in PDF and HTML among others. Per default the PDF filename is same as the bookmap filename. The question is if it is possible to set a PDF filename that one gets from the Publish tool based on a variable name that one can define in the bookTitleTpl.fm template?

I opened FM 2017 and opened a book.  A panel opens on the left side of the FM "container."  I call this the Book panel.  The font size in the book panel listing all the chapter files in the book panel are suddenly very, very small!  How do I increase the size of the font?  The chapter titles in the Book panel are almost illegible!  Overall, all the tab labels for chapters and the file titles have been reduced, also, some very dramatically!  What is going on and how can I fix it? I have tried closing everything and rebooting.  No help.  Am using Windows 10. Thanks, madea

In March of this year, I had FrameMaker 2019 installed on my system, running on Windows 10 Pro. I experienced no significant issues with it - however, over time, it has become progressively sluggish - it takes forever to open a document, it freezes when I try to save my work, generate a TOC or compile a .pdf, and overall has caused a lot of frustration and productivity loss. I work with unstructured FM and have installed any available updates from Adobe. Can anyone provide some insight on this? It would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

I am a newcomer to FrameMaker and have been working with it for the last couple of months as a developer: I am in a project where content from structured FrameMaker documents has to be exported into an applicaton we are supporting. After checking out various XML formats, we found that the DocBook one included the file name of graphic files (href), which is what we wanted. After some time, we were given the requirement to also export conditional text. We found that conditional text was not included in the DocBook format, but was included in a lot of other XML formats. However, we haven't found any XML format other than DocBook including the graphic file names. Could somebody advise the best course of action? Is it possible to export to XML such that graphic file names as well as conditional text is exported? Thanks in advance.

I am importing MS Word documents into Framemaker using File > Import > File. I have mapped my Word styles to my FrameMaker formats and the conversion is pretty darn clean. What I am struggling with is numbered lists. I have tried several approaches which result in all 1s, no reset to 1 (count continues through the entire document without resetting to 1 in new paragraphs), or no numbering at all. My Word styles are all "Numbered" and Word seems to automatically reset to 1 for new paragraphs (unless I manually right-click and select "start from 1") whereas Framemaker has seperate formats for 1 and cont. How can I get my numbered lists in Word to import to my FrameMaker file? I greatly appreciate any insight on this.

I am producing PDF output.Read This First   - License Agreement (x, y)   - Product Disclaimer   - Conventions   - Warnings and Cautions (x,y,z)        - Electrical and Heat Safety (x, y)        - Hygiene (x,z)...And so on.No matter which ditaval I use, the license agreement appears. If my ditaval says:<val>   <prop att="props" value="x" action="exclude"/>   <prop att="props" value="y" action="exclude"/>   <prop att="props" value="z" action="include"/></val>I would expect the document would not have a license agreement. It shouldn't have a license agreement, that's what I'm trying for.The filtering seems to work fine inside the topics. Hey, I would like to delete a whole word in Framemaker using shortcuts. I see the posibility using [ctrl + Delete] (delete following word) but I would like to delete a previous word using [ctrl + backspace] aswell. Since I'm writing a lot of text with FrameMaker and this shortcut can be used in almost every other application I find that unconvienent. Is there a possiblity to set that up for Framemaker? Thanks in Advance!

Hello. Using FrameMaker 2019 and Acrobat Pro DC Version 2020.009.0067In Framemaker, where does the automatically generated data in the Title field of the File Info dialog come from? Can it be manipulated to generate the current document filename and not the name of a previous version’s document title when converted to PDF? Or is there a way to make the field empty. Right now I have to manually delete the information in the Title field, and click Set to create a PDF that displays the current name of the file in the upper right corner and tab of the PDF. The Title setting gets reset when I close and reopen the Frame file; I have to manually change the Title field everytime I reopen the file. That data in the Title field is automatically carried over when used as a template for a new document. I am trying to publish a structured FrameMaker document using the Basic HTML output format. The process starts, but then hangs without any progress.I am using element attributes to label some of my elements, and some of those attributes contain a huge amount of information. However, I have used the same process on similar documents, with similarly large attribute strings (if not larger), and that document published just fine...using exactly the same settings. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can look to find what is causing the execution to hang? Thanks.Jeremy Edit: I've attached the error log.

We have a number of manuals created in FrameMaker that we are translating into multiple languages. None of the translators work directly in FrameMaker, but use various TM apps depending on which language they handle to translate the MIF files. The finished Western language MIFs open fine using our copy of FM 2019, but we are experiencing problems with the Simplified Chinese MIFs displaying correct text. Our Chinese translator who we've worked with for years uses memoQ for his TM and we haven't had problems with other Adobe applications like InDesign...just FrameMaker. We do have Asian language support loaded onto our English Windows 10 system and have SimSun and Arial Unicode MS installed, but the imported file displays nonsense. Oddly, I can cut and paste Chinese from a Word doc and it works fine. I can change the font with no problems. I can also use the IME to enter Chinese text in FM without problem. In my framemaker doc I have text boxes that contain cross reference links to other sections in the same doc. These are valid within the FM doc, but invalid in the html5 output.example - FM doc with X-Ref dialog box:when I published to html5 responsive output, the boxes became flat images and the hypertext laid flat, no links.  I see in the publish settings things like Options - use html page template and override styles;If I evoke the Edit-Settings dialog, are there any settings that effect the x-ref links validate inside text boxes? Hi everyone,I am using Framemaker 2019 (Version: 15.0.6.956). During the book update, a cross-reference doesn’t retain the formats applied to it and goes back to the original Character format of the source. For example, a text with Paragraph format ‘h3’ and Character format ‘white’ applied to part of it, is cross-referenced. Initially, the cross-reference appears fine but as soon as the book is updated, it reverts to the source format (part white) irrespective of the attributes (<Default Font> , <hypertext>, or <newblue>) assigned to it. The results are the same even with other templates, cross-references, and character formats. This issue was not there in FM 10. Before Book update: After Book update:Any suggestions to resolve this issue are greatly appreciated.

Can someone point me to where I can address the following changes that I need to make in the FM Index file? I have a 475 page book I've created in FM for a decade or longer. It's printed these days on Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), formerly Createspace.  (Note this is for a print book sold on amazon, NOT the kindle--for that, see below) I exported for the 2017 edition without incident by exporting the PS file, and then running it through Acrobat Distiller.  I updated the book now in FM 2020 and tried that process again and now the file is rejected by KDP because (according to their tech support) of transparency issues.  Below are their recommendation for printing.  I figured out how to find PDF/X-1a 2001, and most of the other issues but not the "Transparent objects are flattened." one.   I'm also confused by the many different ways to generate a PDF.  Can anyone recommend a method that would do the flattening?Thanks! John With the native document open in the application you used to write your book, select "File > Print."Select "PDF"
