FrameMaker

I have a problem in transferring diacritics (phonetic symbols) to PDF files. Certain combining diacritics when put under or above regular letters look fine in FM11, but when a PDF ios made, the diacritic has slipped half a letter space to the right. How can I fix this so that the PDF retains the diacritic directly under or above the letter? (Note:this does not refer to the more common kinds, such as French-type accents, for which there are unitary unicode symbols, but other, less common combinations.)

We just changed the clocks ahead one hour, but my laptop did not change the time. I called IT and the IT technician fixed a setting in the BIOS to fix the time on my laptop clock. Now, I am getting a message from Framemaker that I can't use Framemaker. I tried to license Framemaker and got a message that I can't log into my Adobe account and got directed to a website. I was on hold for 30 minutes and would like to solve this using online chat, but can't find chat on the websit. Thanks

Hi,I am using Adobe FrameMaker 12 unstructured.I have an ExtendScript that updates the book with regards to numbers and handles some conditional contents. And as a last step it saves the document as a PDF file.In the FrameMaker 12 application when you select the menu item File|Save As PDF you get the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialogue. In the Bookmarks tab section, you can manipulate which Paragraphs you want to include in PDF generation.Is it possible to manipulate this PDF Bookmarks setup via ExtendScript ?And if so you have any code snippets i can get inspired by?Thank you for the help

Hi! Here's my problem: I have a ditamap which I publish to Responsive HTML5. Now, most of the pages won't be displayed when opening the publishing result. I have been able to go around this problem by simply saving xml files with slightly different names (not changing anything else) and then replacing the old files with the re-named ones. However, this doesn't work when I have xml files which are inlcuded in other ditamaps as well. If I renamed those and replaced the old, then I'd obviously be left with several version of the same page which would add greatily to the updating load. And what's crazy is that these same xml-files aren't missing when I publish the other ditamaps where they are included in. So, what is wrong with this one individual ditamap that refuses to publish pages, that other ditamaps can publish? Thanks for any tips!

I'm facing issues when I replace images inside a table and save it. We're currently using FM 2019 with DITA 1.2 for documentation Issue Scenario :Fig tag is removed along with the image tag and new tag is placed which automatically prompts for the href. Once the file path is provided for the href, the image along with the frame is inserted.This was working properly in FM 2015 but once we migrated to 2019 and followed the same process, the image inside the frame gets offset everytime we save and reopen the file Kindly advice  

When start Framemaker,  it always generate a mistake that "can not find mfc120u.dll" , how to adress it?

What does the FP_UseFMConsoleForErrorLog session property do? It is used in some legacy code I need to work with and it seems that it is causing a crash under some conditions when it is turned on. It is not documented anywhere as far as I can tell. I can make some guesses from the name but I thought I would ask. Thanks.

Using ALT Code 234 I am unable to print symbol for Ohm in FrameMaker. Able to print other codes like Registered mark, copyright, etc. Want to know if there is any problem with the Adobe FM software or anything else.

Hi, I am a beginner in FM (after InDesign), and I've got a problem.I'm making 2 column documents with title information going across the page. I have an article with a deceased author whom I'm to mark with a dagger footnote in the bottom of the page, placed in one column, not in the wide string. The authors' names are followed with straddled strings of their affiliations and some other. What should I do to get the footnote in the required format?Appreciate any advice

Hi Scripters, I know from Russ Ward's samples how to delete an attribute value. But how do I delete the attribute itself from the element? The attribute is undefined in the document's EDD, that is, it shows as red in the structure view. FrameScript has a command for deleting an "undefined" attribute from an element, but I don't see a way to do this in ExtendScript. Any help will be appreciated. -RickI see that the FDK has an F_ApiDeleteUndefinedAttribute() function, but I don't see an equivalent in ExtendScript.

I'm trying to save a fm file to pdf and it keeps crashing and I get the "internal error 15044" before framemaker crashes. When I scroll to the page the pdf conversion crashes on 29-30/104, framemaker crashes as well. There is an imported file on the page but it crashes before I can see what it is. I recently installed 2019 and had been working on 2017. I believe there were issues with this particular frame when converting to pdf in 2017 but it didn't crash when loading. Any guidance?

This may be an obvious question, but I can't find a way to do it........When we make changes to a document we use change bars to show where the changes have been made. Of course on the next revision, these have to be removed to add new ones for the new revision.When I select all and click off Change Bar in the Character Designer, it removes all but the ones in the tables. I have looked around, but can't find anything that removes them all. Also, sometimes even selecting the table cells, it doesn't remove them until I have hunted around in the table to see where the bar is. This is quite a process for some manuals.Can I remove ALL change bars in a document? Thanks,ls

Hello,  I have documentation for my code that I maintain in Doxygen (general description + API reference). Our documentation team working with FrameMaker so I generate an XML output for them which were imported to FrameMaker using some template file which I do not fully understand. We reached good maturity and it works well except I cannot generate internal references with a custom naming. i.e. with the XML input below :<ref refid="group__ip__class_1gaad23d5c191f1ede03638140cb21ca31f" kindref="member">actions</ref>I would expect that link text will be action, but currently, action just attached as a text after the link with link text taken from element referenced by refid. I have found many ways to control a text of link text here, but all of them as far as I understand working with target link text and do not provide a way for the custom text from the ref element. I can modify my XML in a way it's needed and can manipulate templ

Hi, I have a document where all body text is in Arial 9. I was trying to find all occurrences of a word and change it to something else. But as I pressed Change, the font switched to Arial 12. Very annoying, Why does it do that and how can I prevent it? I am using Framemaker 12 I think.

How do you change the color of the background of the topic (the entire topic, to all the margins, not just the text) and the TOC? I've had to extract the .sts file to do some customizations, so I can do that again if that's needed here. I just don't know what needs to be done.

Hi,Framemaker Version:2019DITA version: 1.2 The Smart Paste feature is not functioning at all. When I try using the feature, FM processes it and nothing happens.  I was trying to tweak the h2d.xsl file such that a paragraph is wrapped within <p> element before copying it to the entry element, but I reverted any changes. My main problem is that I don't know Where (what dialog that I can make appear) I make the edit from at this stage. Goal: I am missing an attribute value for an Element titled "SafetyMsg" that I wish to add. The missing value is "WarningElectrical". The SafetyMsg element currently has an Attribute Name titled "a_Type", containing 3 values: Danger, Warning, and Caution. See pic: My issue is that I want to add a 4th value, WarningElectrical, to the drop-down list above. Very importantly, each of these values contains a framed graphic in the Reference Page (the 3 that work along with the new WarningElectrical value).Here's a pic of WarningElectrical on the Ref page (bottom menu viewable so you can see its name): Note: WarningElectrical uses a different yellow triangle graphic than the other values although its still a warning. Please list steps so I can access how to add this value to the SafetyMsg element. Huge Thanks for your time!

Hi,I have scripts that used to work, but don't work anymore. Most start with the following:function xyz(){var doc = app.ActiveDoc; if(doc.ObjectValid()==false){alert("No active document. Cannot continue");return;}...}When I run them now, the program stops at the first or second line, with the error "undefined is not an object". Why does that happen? Hi,I hope somebody can help me. I need to migrate a large number of Unstructured Framemaker files to a CMS.As a starting point, we are saving all the .fm to .xml, with a script that uses the save as... XML command.Then, we created a parser to convert the XML nodes to the ones needed in the new application.The main issue is, the <IMAGE tag I got in the xml files saved by Framemaker does not have the original filename of the image as the href attribute, but a new name assigned to each image (the name of the .fm file + a progressive number). Sometimes these images are not real images.Is there a way to instruct FM to save the XML with the correct filename of the images?thanks for your replyCarlotta 

As the title suggests … I was doing my best to follow the fairly arcane instructions in https://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/dita/index.html#t=book%2FCustomiseDita.html, clicked as instructed and bam: "serious problem and must quit".FM now refuses to restart, and mentions a directory C:\Users\{id}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\15 that doesn't even exist on my corporate laptop!I'm in a chat session with Adobe Support, but feel from the tone of the questions I have not yet reached anyone likely to understand the problem. Sympathy would be welcome! advice, even more so.

HelloThis is an issue I've experienced in the past, and the solution I received previously now does not work. Here's the issue: I'm working in a FrameMaker Book. There are extra pages that I need to delete a page in three of the book files. The pagination will not update. At all. Here's what I've done so far: 1) Set the pages to single-sided (the pages will appear single-sided when I print). 2) Opened the book file. Deleted everything on the last page (master page)3) Set master page usage style of the page I'm deleting to "none."4) Selected "Format, Document, Delete Pages"5) Seletected "Format, Page Layout, Pagination" then "Delete Empty Pages" in the "Before Saving and Printing" dropdown. 6) Pages are deleted in every conceivable form I can think of deleting a page in FM. 7) Right click on the file in the book and select "Numbering" then "Continue Numbering from Previous Chapter in Book." The page does not continue numbering, but maintains the same page number
