Dear all, I'm really desperateIn Windows 7 two months ago everything worked without such problems. W7 (now w10,1909) is on the first partition (C:); most programs (including FMs) are on H: (ESTK is on C, it can not be placed elsewhere). All partitions are on SSD, machine has 2.5 GHz.Have now installed, re-installed FM-15.0.4.751 and ESTK-4 at least 3 times, but ESTK does not behave at all. Other FMs (12, 13, 14)  provide the same  misbehaviour for ESTK:3 minute MP4 video : time from start. While working with xml files (in my case DITA topic), I would like to refresh the WYSIWYG view to the actual look of the output files. A cumbersome way would be to close and open the xml file. Is there a shortcut to refresh the view in a smarter (easier) way?

There are several places in my document that I have blank space that shouldn't be there I cant find any page breaks or any reason why the Note:Repeat steps for ..... should fit on the previous page niether paaragraph style is attached to the previous or next paragraphs. I turned on text symbols to see if I could find any rouge carriage returns or any other reasons that there would be so much blank space. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thank you.   

Hi!As stated above, I am working with FM2019 and I have a .book file (originally .ditamap saved as FM composite document 2019 and then made into book by inserting a Standalone TOC > a new book). Now, when I have the book open in FM the punctuation inside "note" paragraph tag looks fine. It also looks fine when publishing into Responsive HTML5. Or when using the publishing tool to publish PDF (However, I'd rather not use that, since it brings more and bigger problems atm. that just when saving the book as PDF).Anyhow, in the saved PDF periods appear as commas, commas appear as asterisk, and brackets are either facing the wrong direction or they appear as braces. Those are atleast some I've spotted. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you!

FM11 / DITA 1.2I decided a while back that I would make all of my tables as wide as my pages for consistency in output. I have some tables that are a bit narrower, so I went into the XML files and resized them. When I open the files again (and on output), I find that the tables have reverted to their original widths. In some cases, this wrecks the text and causes breaks in weird places. The only way I've been able to fix this so far is to make a new table. Why won't the changed table widths stay changed?

I have a document with five conditional tags, where each tag is a different version of a product -- let's say the tags are A, B, C, D, and E for products A, B, C, D, and E.   I recently learned that Product D will be discontinued, so I've deleted all of the D-specific text, and I've also removed the tag from any text that it shares with the other products.   Now I want to delete the "D" conditional tag completely. I've selected the tag in the Conditional Tags pod, clicked Delete, and then clicked OK. The "D" tag is removed ... but so is the "E" tag.   This looks like a bug to me, but I'm a newbie -- perhaps I made a mistake when creating the "E" tag (which I added after adding the D tag). Is this a known issue? I've searched the posts here and can't find any reports of the same problem.   Thanks!

I have an entire manual with a lot imported svg files. And every single one of them change scaling when I save the framemaker document to 2017, or even mif 2019! Is this something I should have known when I made the project believing svg would work as intended or even merely work? Is there a fix somehow?   

Running Frame 2017 here, Version: 14.0.4.511. When I click File > Publish > Change Settings button > Open, the dialog displays as normal.  But when I click any button or field on the dialog, the dialog disappears.  The Settings file currently selected for use is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2017\fminit\Publisher\Default.sts.  We normally use a customized STS file in a different location.  This problem prevents me from using a different STS file. Another, bigger issue is when I try to edit the STS file.  If I click File > Publish > Change Settings button > Edit, the dialog displays as normal, but when I click anywhere in the dialog, not only does the dialot disappear, but Frame locks up and becomes completely unresponsive.  The only way to get out of this is to right-click the Taskbar icon and select Close Window. Is there a way to fix this short of doing the Uninstall/Reinstall thing? Th

I am having an issue with a document where the text is not continuing to the next page. I am using a template that I created. I have converted (from Word) several documetns already that did not have this problem so I am not sure what I changed or what I doing differently from the previous documents. When importing the document did not work I copied and pasted from the Word document just in case that was the issue but that did not work either. I do not see any other text frames that might cause this either. 

I have customized my DITA topic 1.3 using specialized edd and dtd in order to add new elements under highlights domain. Standalone, it works as expected: I can use the created elements in my xml files etc. and the WYSYWYG is perfect. However, when I create a book out of my ditamaps using publish-> PDF, those changes are ignored/overwritten, if and only if I toggle "Generate flat Book hierarchy" check-box under DITA options. And I need to use this option to get the flow of my book straight. Does somebody know why this option ignores my changes and how to get both options, i.e. "Generate flat Book hierarchy " and the newly added elements work together peacefully?

When I publish a FrameMaker unstructured manual to Responsive HTML5 using the Publish pod, the output has a navigation structure with extra levels that aren't really needed (shown in yellow below). How do I turn these off?  

In setting windows 7 ,whne i use postscript printer or adobe pdf , math symbol font bolded is applied in equations table of framemaker 11. But In setting windows 10 , math symbol font bolded is not applied in equations table of framemaker 11 or framemaker 19 for testing. How can i solve this problem?

Hello fellows, I see that in FM2019, exactly like in FM2015, event-driven scripts do not fire automatically in Autorun mode. To make them run, I still need to select a script in the Scripts window and click run. Is there anything that can be done about it, except for filing a bug and waiting for the best? 😉   Thanks, Roman

I think I broke something and need help figuring out how to fix it. I'm new to FrameMaker so I'm hoping this is an easy fix. My document has 14 chapters plus two appendices. The chapters all follow the same basic master page (with room for 1.25-inch side head), while the appendices don't have a side head. At some point, I went to copy a new paragraph style from one chapter to all the other chapters, but I inadvertently copied all of the formats ... from one of my appendices. Now all of my chapters have lost the side-head master page (along with the chapter-specific headers and footers). I re-created the master page for one of my chapters and went to re-apply it to all of the other chapters, but I'm now getting the error message, "No master pages applied because the MasterPageMaps table contains no mapping information." I'm in the process of moving our old (Word/Excel) manuals to (unstructured) FrameMaker. I have the latest version of FM, downloaded a couple of weeks ago. The old manuals include a lot of tables that have multiple columns with various levels of headers; here's an example. I started trying to create a similar table style in FrameMaker and gave up after a few minutes. I'm thinking it may be better to simply import the Excel tables into FrameMaker. If I do this ... The tables are stored in files all over the place, so I will need to collect them into a single, easily accessible area. I originally thought I would put them into a single Excel file, maybe with each table in a different worksheet. When I try to import from FrameMaker, however, I can't specify which worksheet I want to use. (Or can I? I haven't been able to find anything on this.) The other option I thought of is to save each table into a different Excel file, though this would mean over 100 different Excel

Hello everyone,I recently got FrameMaker 2017 on my computer. I started making some DITA XML files and tried to publish to a number of the default outputs. Every time, they give me this message: "Failed to publish. Check if JRE is installed." I have Java installed, and even when I check in the windows command line, I see that Windows can detect the Java Runtime Environment. I've been trying to figure out what the problem is for the better part of a day, and haven't been able to find a solution online. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

It is frustrating when you are trying to get something done and you get an error message that you least expected. Don’t worry, we know how to fix it. One of the main reasons for this is incorrect version of JRE on your system is that you are using an incompatible version of JRE. If you are using a 32-bit system, make sure you have 32-bit version of JRE installed. Similarly, on a 64-bit system, you must have 64-bit JRE. If you mix it, then FrameMaker will fail to recognize it. This issue and its resolution has been discussed in more details in this thread.

It's taken months … and I was so pleased when an administrator showed up at my desk yesterday to start downloading my TCS licence. Then the download started, running at a phenomenal 600Kbps and promising to take more than a working day =8-/ The corporate network connections usually run at around 90Mbps. Any suggestions or observations for getting a download within a day?

Hi,New to Extendscript but not to programming.I have a large Frame doc with hundreds of parts tables, all with the same format. I want to update a PARTNUMBER2 field in these tables based on a PARTNUMBER1 field. The data is coming from an XML file.This is what I want to do in pseudocode:For each PARTNUMBER1 in the XML file:Find each occurrence of PARTNUMBER1 in each Frame table;Update the corresponding PARTNUMBER2 with the data from the XML file.Can anyone point me to an example that I might be able to figure out how to modify to suit my needs?Thanks! 

I made figure Numbering system  and I applied  "MoveFigureTitleToFollowImage=0 " Numbering is gone    Does anybody know this problem?   

I have a client-specific DITA specialization. I've configured my structapps.fm file to handle the specialization and I can successfully read and write DITA files in Structured FrameMaker (2019) However, part of the specialization requires me to use XSL to transform the DITA before it's imported into FrameMaker. I've successfully written preprocessing transforms before, but those were for standard DITA content without custom specializations. I believe all the pieces are in a row, however when the parser used by SAXON attempts to open the DITA topic, it cannot resolve the public doctype identifier. It falls back on the (more-or-less pro forma) system identifier and fails, because—of course—the DTD file is not local to the topic. Here is my application from structapps.fm:Application name: xxx-topic DTD: $STRUCTDIR\xml\DITA_1.3\app\xxx\dita-ot-2.5.4-xxx\plugins\com.xxx.doctypes\dtd\xxx-topic.dtd Read/write rules: $STRUCTDIR\xml\DITA_1.3\app\xxx\xxx\xxx-topic.rules.txt

My images are greyed out even after importing images from a specific location.
