Hi,I just noticed that the HTML5 which I exported had different fonts on Android and on iOS.My original font is Google Open Sans.On Android it looks like Arial. On iOS it looks like Times. Can I set the font in the HTML5 settings or in the CSS file, so that at least serif and sans serif is kept?Best regardsWinfried
Hi,Some test users of my HTML5 export asked, whether they could also swipe to the previous or next topic.Currently I only have buttons in the upper right corner of my mobile phone to jump to the previous or next topic.Best regardsWinfried
Hello fellows,I saw this behavior in the past but now it became especially undesired. I'd like Framemaker to close a book w/o saving after PDF distilling is complete. By default, after distilling is finished, FM still keeps munching the book components for a while and becomes unresponsive. Is it possible to avoid this behavior? Am I missing something? Thanks for your input in advance!
[Note: This occurs on FM2017 (coworker) and FM2019 (me).]A coworker ran across this with one of our books. Not sure how long it's been like this, or how it happened.*All* of our docs work off a template in which all docs (front cover, preface, chapters, appendices) use a First master page for the first page, and a Left page on even page numbers, and a Right page on Odd page numbers.e.g. In the Apply To section, we always have checkboxes that say "Even (Left) Odd (Right)".However, in some of the documents in this book (the cover, the preface, and *some* of the chapters), the pane shows "Even (Right) Odd (Left)"e.g.I have no idea how this happened, or how to fix it.I did a workaround by opening corresponding documents from another book (a cover, a preface, and a chapter), and then imported Document Properties from those docs into the messed up docs. (Which worked.)So...Questions:How could this have happened? (Is there some keycombo that may have messed
I need to update several manuals from legacy content into our new template. I was thinking a script could help me do the trick.I think the way it should work is as follows:create an empty document using latest template, open existing old manual document, select all content, copy. This will copy all text, tables, anchored frames, etc.go back to empty document and paste copied content. Is this good practice using Extendscript?Maybe using FCodes is an option. Do you have any suggestion?
I am trying to highlight text in the document in 2015 using conditional tags and it doesn't highlight the text:
Hello -- I have a giant publication that contains hundreds of hypertext markers that contain codes that change yearly. FM can find based on the code, but the change option pastes the new code into the body instead of at the end of the hyperlink as it should.I can make the change after exporting to html5, but isn't there a way I can efficiently do it in the source files? Thanks in advance ...Mike
It would seem that after I delete all of the old formats out of a document, including paragraph, character, and table formats, that I do not have a fully corrected version of the FM file after importing the new template. How can I ensure that all of the old formats are replaced by the new format? Is there a clean way to apply a new template without copying and pasting the old content into a new file with the correct formats? Secondly, how can I make the default bullet building block larger as in a larger dot?Oh, I'm using FM 17 - still not sure about moving to FM 19.Thanks
I maintain a structured app for Framemaker and at the moment I have the various definition files (maker.ini, the EDD, structapps.fm and our DTD, XSD and XSL files) in a folder somewhere which is under source control. Currently whenever I make changes I edit the files in my checkout, copy them to Program FIles\Adobe\FrameMaker 2019\..., test, commit my local copy to the repository, email my colleagues to update their checkout and then tell them to follow a checklist copying the files from their local copy into the appropriate locations under Program Files. There are too many ways this can go wrong, so I wonder if it is possible to put the Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker 2019 folder directly (and partially) under source control so that my colleagues can update the application in a single step. Has anybody else tried this? Anything I should know, or are there any reasons why this would be a bad idea?cheersT
I'm looking to auto-generate a List of Effective Pages (LEP) for an aircraft maintenance manual. Anyone care to share how they set up their LEP?Thank you!
Beginning with FM 2017 (almost as soon as I upgraded to 2017) and continuing into version 2019 (which I really hoped would solve the problem, with 64 bit), FrameMaker crashes repeatedly when I try to open more than a single file at a time. It sometimes will go 2-3 weeks without doing it, but then it resumes and crashes over and over again, all day every day for weeks. I have never discerned any patterns to when it does and doesn't crash.I use unstructured FrameMaker. It has done it on multiple laptops (currently running Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core 2.80GHz processor, 64 bit, with 32 GB RAM. NVIDIA graphics). The laptop I was using when it first started started doing it was probably running Windows 8.1, but that was a while ago and I can't swear to it.I keep on top of FM updates, and none of them has ever solved the problem. When it gets really bad and won't even restore the previous session before crashing again, sometimes rebooting the laptop "shocks" it into behaving better for a l
One of those days when you open a document you haven't seen for years and find yourself confronting a new question :-}fileA.fm includes a text inset for content used by several .fm filesinset.fm contains about a page of content, including a heading we'll call HfileB.fm needs to include a cross-reference to heading HWhen I generate the .book, fileB includes the cross-reference, which correctly opens fileA in FrameMaker – but the book error report identifies it as 'unresolved', and the cross-ref is not delivered as a hyperlink when I save the .book as a .pdf.Is this an artefact of working with a text inset? is there some subtlety I'm missing? I'd obviously prefer to have working hyperlinks and no book errors.
yesterday: tidied up text pasted in from a web site, which arrived with its own curly quotes, by adding some out-of-the-box FM italics just as a local override. (in my defence, I'll say the file was for one-time use)today: finishing the activity, I noticed that out-of-the-box save as xml had absent-mindedly (or high-mindedly, even) discarded these local italics. Not a problem, I thought; I'll use Find > Character format. The first few hits were correct … but as I continued through the document I noticed that the search was hitting every curly quote. And what do you know: the character designer says they're italicised.question: how do I run a find/replace on the combination of character and formatting, to replace all italicised curly quotes with roman?question: say I patiently go through and apply a proper style to all the words that need to be italicised – how do I remove all mere local overrides and leave this 'official' formatting intact?Still stuck on FM12, if that makes any diff
Hi,Using the current FM which I downloaded a couple of weeks ago. I have a custom application (using TEI P4). In the Structured Application Designer, I can select my application, but then I always get a dialogue saying "Unsaved changes in current application: continue?" which is disconcerting. Ignoring this message, I get a dialogue which includes the settings I have specified, with one exception. This is "EDD (optional)", which is always blank. I can specify it, and save the result, but when I re-open the dialogue it is blank once again. I have tried to edit the structapp.fm file directly, but don't see an element which is obviously designed to hold the path to the EDD. So that's one problem: it means that I have to do "File - Import - Element definitions" each time to load the EDD. Furthermore, before I do this I have to actually open the EDD by hand, otherwise it does not appear as an option in the Import Element Definitions dialogue.Similarly, I have specified two custom colours, w
Trying to learn how to create cross-references in an unstructured document in Framemaker 2019. I believe that I followed directions, but the result is this:The first four of these components are shown in “The first four of these components are shown in Figure 2-1.” on page 1Figure 2-1.Why does it appear this way when I insert the cross-reference?
Yeah, that sounds cryptic 🙂So... I have a book from which I generate four targets -- 2 pdf (via print book) and 2 xhtml (via publish). Yes, I know I can do pdf via publish as well, just haven't tried it yet.Anyway... I've come across two bits of weirdness in FM2019 vs FM2015 (this is my first time generating these targets in fm2019, worked fine in fm2015):Weirdness #1: Generated xhtml perfectly, except I noticed that I had an error in a piece of text an associated image in one of my chapters (.fm file). Went into the chapter, fixed the text, altered the image (specifically, a callout in the image), and regenerated the output. Viewed the output and ... the text and image hadn't changed.So... I cleared the output folder (f:\testing\target1) and regenerated again. Viewed the output... still the same text and image.Cleared the output folder again, closed Framemaker, reopened, opened the book, regenerated, viewed output and it was fine. Why is it not accepting the text/image change,

I noticed that the content in one of my chapters is shifting when I save the .book as a PDF. In FM, Section 21.18 appears on page 21-80 (and this is what is reflected in the TOC as well). However, when I PDF the book, the content in Chapter 21 shifts, and Section 21.18 appears on page 21-79 of the PDF. How is this happening, and how can I stop it?? I am using FM 2015 and the "save as PDF" method.Thank you!
What is the ANSI number for ⅓ (one third). For Framemaker 11
Does anyone know if there is a way that leader lines can be automatically justified in an auto-generated TOC, LOF, LOT, etc? I'd like for them to simply line up against the right margin but they will not. Please see below.
For purposes of creating xrefs, I have added "hidden" numbers at the end of several paragraph tags. By hidden I mean that they are in a 2-point font, the text is set to a special color (white, but named "zhidden_numbers" and set in the color view to Invisible), and the background is set to white. Up until the beginning of this month, those numbers did NOT show up in the bookmarks panel when I generated a PDF.Now they are. I don't want them there. What changed, and how do I fix it?(NB: I am cross-posting this to the FrameUsers list.)
Hi All, I am doing DTP on FM structure 2015 Arabic lang, I have changed fonts Frutiger ltd std 45 light to Arial file save and re-open that time some are styles fonts not changed, its showing Frutiger ltd std 45.This problem only having Paragraph tag "Table.cell.body", rest of Paragraph tag font family changed, please help out me.
Hello,I'm trying to make a custom auto-generated TOC in unstructured Framemaker. I am using the built-in building block variables on my reference page and was wondering if there is a way to get rid of what I am showing below. I just want the Page Block number next to the title - I do not want it in front of the sections. Currently I am using the <$volnum> building block variable to do this. Is there a better way?
