Hello All,The main objective is to share the e-learning videos incorporated in the docs which will be shared to a cloud platform. So, I am looking out for the option to embed video in DITA.Is it possible to embed Adobe Captivate HTML/SWF output file to DITA? If it is possible, then please outline the steps.By doing some research I got to know that we can add Video, Audio, and Embedded HTML Resources in DITA Topics. For now I am thinking to create the courses, and publish them as a video. Then embed the video to Dita topics. Please suggest if my thought process is correct and I would be able to achieve the desired objective.Looking forward to some quick suggestions. Thanks,Parichaya
This is an added question to my previous question. The framemaker documents are structured. Can a text inset be used in a structured document?
I have this table sitting in a page with 3 columns on the page, and the table goes across all three rows, But, the table does not line up at the top of all three columns. I wonder what on earth I can do to make that level, as it looks like complete poo. There's a text box above that area but not connected to the flow, I resized the column area and added a text box above, nothing fancy.Trippy, no?
How to save the information put in a PDF with Sign and Fill?
In my Asian language manuals, the tab leader dots in the LOF are square if the figure title ends with a Latin character, and round if it ends with an Asian character, as before 111 and 116 below. If I manually add a space after the last Asian character in the LOF, the dot becomes square, as before 118 below. In the chapters, all the periods are square. If I add a space to the end of the figure titles in the text, the dot will be square in the LOF only if there's an index marker after the space. (This might be true with other markers, but I didn't test them.)I'm thinking that the hex code of the character before the leader tab determines the shape of the leader dots. If single-byte, the dot is square, if double-byte it's round. My work-around is to either add spaces manually after the figure titles in the LOF or add a space and an index marker (also a space) after each figure title in the text.Any thoughts on a better way?
FM's Welcome Screen is a customizable HTML document. The bulk of the Welcome Screen consists of tiles that a user can click to create a new document; different tiles use different templates. An example of how a tile is defined in the HTML source is:<a href="http://fm-welcomescreen/?cmd=newdocument-portrait" class="createTile basicPortrait" title="Portrait">Portrait</a>Note that the values of the href and class attributes somehow select the template to use and the appearance of the tile. I would like to modify my Welcome Screen to replace the existing tiles with those that use the templates for a specific project. Is there a way to change the values of href and class to customize a new tile? If not, is there another technique I can use? --Lynne
Three framemaker documents are in development with each containing a subset of common text and graphics. I need a recommended strategy how to setup the documents to pull the common text and graphics in from a common location.
Hi, everyone! I'm new to this forum and fairly new to the concept behind Framemaker, so please bear with me. I am currently using Framemaker 10 at work, in order to create structured books. Before creating the HTML version of these books, I have to save them as XML. Unfortunately, when I'm trying to save one of the book files as XML, Framemaker "freezes", then becomes completely unresponsive. Windows eventually tells me to close the program. When I look in my XML folder, I see that the files in my book have been saved as XML (individually), but the book source file is saved as: bookname.xml.E38bookname.xml.895bookname.xml.3BBbookname.xml.0D1It saved the book file like this every time I tried saving it as XML. This is the first time I've encountered this issue, and I don't know what to do. I don't see any unresolved cross-references, no validation errors in the book. Why would Framemaker not save this book as XML, but it saves all the other files?
I'm try to keep an indent the same around a graphic box when I switch from side to side. My graphic are all located on the side close to the binding. On one page all my indents work fine. On the other page they are all jammed up. Is there a setting to change this?
I have FM2017 on Win10.The find / change option randomly changes case on the target. Find: tracking deviceChange to: field computer Clone case: Yes --target becomes field computer, sometimes field Computer, sometimes field COMPUTER ... this is maddening. It's totally unreliable.madea[Title abbreviated by moderator]

Hi all I use object style designer in unstructured document but It does not working in structured document can I use object style designer in structured document (DITA)?Thanks in advance
I am using FM 2017 on a trial basis to prepare a single-chapter document (that is, not a book). When I try to save as PDF, the Save Document dialog appears and I select how and where to save the PDF. Then, the PDF Setup dialog appears. When I click either Set or Cancel, FM does not save the document as a PDF. Any help would be appreciated.
I've read the tutorials about creating newsletters in unstructured Framemaker, and I can do that. My question is can I do something similar in a structured document.Specifically, I want to create a master page for the 1st page in each chapter of my book that has 4 sections:1) The top of the page has an image that is specific for that chapter2) Underneath the image is a quote that summarizes the chapter contents3) Below the quote is the beginning of the chapter text.4) To the left of the body text are callouts that highlight specific passages in the body text, but I'm not trying to address that in this ticket. My first thought was to create a master page that has 3 sections - the image, the quote and the body. Each chapter has different content for each box (different image, different quote, different text). The body text is easy - it just happens. But I don't see a way to replace the image in the master page with that chapter's image. Is it best for m
Just did a PDFing speed test.On an old machine with FM10, the PDFing of a 200 pages book took more than half an hour. With the new FM 2019 the PDFing (Strg+P) only took 8 minutes. But the new PDF renderer in the pub pod seems to be even faster: 4 minutes. In a second run with the new PDF renderer, the PDFing of the same book took only about 1 minute! How could that be? Does FM buffer any content? On monday, when I'm back in the office, I will test a really really big book with 1000 pages.
I have a couple users getting Internal Errors 14034, 20554030, 20560368, 20560550 when using Framemaker 2017. One is on version 14.0.3.500 and the other is on 14.0.4.511. Does anyone have any idea as to what I need to do to fix this?
I would like to put an image next to the chapter sections in the table of contents would this be possible in some way other than just dragging the pictures over the table of contents? It is difficult to have the images align correctly. You can see that by dragging them they look slightly off and I am looking for a way to fix this.
Is it possible to search for specific text in a FM document - no matter what that text appears as (cross-reference, variable, etc.) - using Find/Change? If it isn't possible, is there a different way to do this?
I've tried several times, but the upper part and lower part of the images is still blank in the pdf file generated. It is full in the fm document. Can anyone help me with this? Many thanks.Below are just the case. The first screenshot is the pdf file generated, the second screenshot is the fm document
We have a software manual authored in FrameMaker DITA. We are looking at around 250 pages once output. We are having trouble with generating a PDF. It either takes was too long, or then does not even manage to finish compiling. I understand this may take some time, but what is realistic here? Are there better publishing solutions for FrameMaker DITA? This is yet another frustration with FrameMaker. It just does not seem to be very robust when doing anything moderately complex.
Just tried to install the new Framemaker 2019 and the new Robohelp 2019 trials. Both fail to install error 183. I uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud app and did not help.Framemaker 2019 install always fails at 79% done.I have turned off antivirus software.
When drafting the framemaker document, the images were embedded. Now I need to change this to be a imported image. With the object properties shown below, can the dpi readily be determined?

Okay, so I am going to get FrameMaker 2019 and move away from FrameMaker 12. So, currently I use Acrobat 11 Pro for PDFing and such, with Distiller and all. There is Acrobat DC, but I hate the montly licensing model and have never understood what Acrobat DC would do for me anyway, so stayed away from that. But, with FrameMaker 2019 and it's new PDFing goodness, what does that mean for my Acrobat 11 Pro installation?Thoughts? Advice?Cheers,Sean
I am trying to install Framemaker from the internet, but I get a message when clicking on the install .exe file that it may be corrupted and I should download it again, and I cannot install. Each time I re-download, the same thing happens. Any help on how to solve/circumvent the problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
