Has anyone had problems with hidden text in a structured document?I was working on a structured document that contains text, figures and tables.The document had a valid structure and the pages looked fine. When we lookedcloser at the document we discovered that there was text in front of a figurethat was missing. I checked the element in the structure view, but it did notappear on the page itself. I found the text hidden behind the figure, the lineswas on top of each other. The only solution that worked was to set the element forthe figur across both columns.What causes this and what can we do to avoid this?We must be able to rely on the tools we use. I have talked to other users ofFrameMaker 11. They knew about the issue but had not had this problem for a longtime. Is this a known bug in other versions of FrameMaker?

Greetings. I am attempting to create a command line script for use with FrameMaker12 and my question is in regards to the suppression of dialog screens when opening a FrameMaker (.fm) file/document. However, I have been unable to locate if there is an API call to set an option to suppress ALL dialogs (regardless of the  dialog) or a specific dialog ( in this case, a dialog that states a paragraph tag does not exist in the Paragraph Catalog)? Is there an option or API call that suppresses all/specific dialogs? Also, can the

Trying to install latest patch to FM 2017. Download the zip file and run AdobePatchInstaller.exe. Get one of two "Update Failed" messages that alternate seemingly randomly: 1) Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator" and 2) "Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Download and install a new copy of 'Adobe Application Manager' (hyperlinked to an Adobe site that does not have that app listed).

When I try to package my book, FM2017 would just stop working. A dialog is displayed to close the program.Situation occurs as follows:My book consists of multiple standalone books (which are treated as chapters), of which I choose which books to exclude or include in my new book.If I choose to package my book, with 3 standalone books, the packaging process is successful.However, if I choose to package with 4 books or more, Framemaker would just stop working.Please help as this is very frustrating.Stephen

So, I fired up my laptop today and ran FrameMaker 12.And a 30-day trial started.I have TCS 15, FM 12, installed on this laptop and have been using it for years.What's going on? What's the fix? What the heck?Cheers,Sean

Hi all,I have been working on Windows 7 and never found any problems with list boxes in dialogs, until I ran the same script on another machine that had Windows 8.1 installed. None of the list items appears in the list box there and there is no way to work around the issue. I have submitted this bug and will report here if there is a solution. It might take a patch to get this nasty bug solved. I did not test it in any of the other Adobe application that use ExtendScript with the same ScriptUI.Just be aware that list boxes will not work on Windows 8.1 for the time being.Kind regardsJang

I have a licensed version of Adobe Technical Communication Suite. When I try generating a PDF from FrameMaker 2017 source I get this message:The FrameMaker version that I have is licensed.Can you please suggest how to resolve this?

Are there "cell styles" in Framemaker 2017 (as in InDesign)?I have figured out the Table formats but can't find a way to save a row format as a style.For example I have a very length table where I would like to create a row format where the text is bold and keep with the next row is on.So this rows acts as a "subhead" if you will.When the table gets edited I don't want the row with the bold text to be separated from the row that follows it

HELP - I have PDF'd framemaker files for years.  All of a sudden, I follow the same process, it goes thru the steps as it normall does, but the postscrip, log and pdf file generated is EMPTY.  I get a message that there is no data availalbe.  Any sugestions?

Hi, is there a way to save a FM13 (2015) file as a FM12 file? The contract with our client requires us to submit files saved in FM12 format. What is the best way to accomplish this from FM2015?Thank you in advance.

Issue: I'd like to remove extraneous (unused) colors.Create a new blank document.Add some custom colors.Save the document as MIF file.Open the MIF file.The added colors are still part of the color definitions: View > Color > Definitions.Is a MIF wash the wrong approach?

I work with 1ks of tables and when I insert a header when I delete the empty row, the fonts go crazy.I've shown this to FM TS. Here are the steps:1) Add a heading row2) Move the heading column names in the heading row3) Click in the row you just moved. This happens at least 1 out of 5 times.Also, there is a guaranteed crash if you create too many table headers.

Is there a way to get a hypertext link to cover text that is multiple lines such as in a box on a flow chart, as shown in the top box in the picture attached? Currently the link is only on the word 'PHYSICAL'.

I recently moved from FrameMaker 11 to FrameMaker 2017. One of my forms of output is PDF.When generating a PDF from a Ditamap in FM11, PDF bookmarks work perfectly, each pointing to the correct place in the document. In FM2017, however, the bookmarks all point to the same named destination, so all of the bookmarks go to the first page.Was there a change in FM2017 that might have caused this issue? Is there something I may have overlooked when adapting my templates and EDDs from FM11 to FM2017?

Issue: I do have big problems, creating Registration Marks in FM 2017.This is my current procedure for creating Registration Marks (I rely on Matt's book.):Create a new blank document. Check the paper size: Format > Page layout > Format. My document size is A4 (21 x 29,7 cm). Fine.Open the print setup dialog: File > Print Setup. Check the paper size again: A4. Fine.Click Properties to open the Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog. Navigate to the Layout tab. Click Advanced. Check the paper size again: A4. Fine.Click OK (3x). The Print Setup is finished.Open the print dialog: File > Print. Click Normal for the Registration Marks type.Open the PDF Setup in the print dialog. Navigate to the Settings tab. If I use folders in my book to organize content and then generate the book as HTML5, there are too many levels in the sidebar TOC. I have a folder named Administration with a single file named Install and Configure. When I generate HTML5, it creates a top level folder Administration, a second level folder Install and Configure, then the hyperlink to the actual page is listed. Administration>Install and Configure>Install and Configure. Three clicks to get to a single page. If I remove the folders, then the content is generated correctly Install and Configure>Initial configuration.Two clicks to get to the page. OK, for smaller books that might be doable, but large command references which are alphabetized and contain hundreds of files, not doable. This is FM2017.

I need to inverse footnote reference numbers and punctuation. Does anyone know how to identify the footnote reference with Regex? InDesign uses ~F, but that's not working in FrameMaker.~Barb
