FrameMaker

Is it possible to remove data from cells depending on the content of the neighbouring cells of a Framemaker table?Below is a very basic example of the predicament I have. I have hundreds of tables that I need to edit. They contain data in rows of two as below, and are separated by a black row between each pair. The top row always has four variations but for the sake of simplicity in this example it can be either "1" or "2", 2 variations. I want to know if its possible to write a script that will allow me to remove "A" from the cells that have a "2" in the neighbouring cells (immediately above) and retain "A" in all cells with a "1" immediately above. hi,we have to put our new template on to a exiting book.if we select the highest level and load the template, framemaker crashes instantly.if we select the lowest level module and load the template, framemaker crashes instantly.if we open the lowest level module and then load the template, we can save it, while closing it framemaker crashes.we use windows 10 version 1607and framemaker11any idea?best regardsbeat

Me again, with another question about HTML5 output, mostly unrelated to my question about strange headers, hence the new post. By exporting our HTML5 directly from our ditamap, we were able to circumvent the header problem (where the chapter output template would grab a weird header and then use it as a title for every section of the HTML5 output). Since it gives us the option to apply a ditaval in the publish panel, I figure this is an intended workflow.Now with graphics, however, the publish operation does not convert our .ai files to .png. It keeps the path to our original .ai files and they don't display. Why won't it convert the graphics? Any way to get it to do so? Do I have to use svg graphics if I want to keep using vector formats for my graphics so they'll work in browsers? I see that there is an "SVG to raster" option in the settings, but I'm not using SVG in the first place.

Running FrameMaker2017 on a Win 7 Service Pack 1 Desktop PC, I tried Publishing for Mobile Document (Android) Output - FM2017 fails when generating Mobile app output and uploading it to the Phone Gap Build server (my Phone Gap Build account is validated); I reported this issue to Adobe Technical Support, who tested the Publish to Mobile app feature on THEIR system and got the same result; I am awaiting their response. As an alternative, I ran FM2017 on a Win 10 Enterprise laptop & tried generating Mobile app output of Adobe’s included sample Personal Spaceship book for Android. Responsive HTML5 output was perfect, but again, FM2017 runs remarkably slowly without fully generating Mobile app output and uploading it to the Phone Gap Build Server. I also tried running FM2015 on a Win 10 Enterprise laptop & publishing the same project to Mobile App output, which caused FM2015 to crash twice. Lately FM12 has started losing Ctrl key and only quitting and restarting FM cures it. Other apps remain normal with respect to keystrokes. I've changed the keyboard batteries but have no other ideas.

Using Frame 10 on Win 7 ProI am trying to change the font and color for a few paragraph tags with Paragraph Designer.Most of the paragraphs change OK when I click Update All, but there are odd paras that don't change with the rest. For example, trying to apply changes to Table Text will change some cells but not others even in the same table. I find that rather impossible to believe.Similarly, for some of my numbered lists the change affects the actual number digit correctly (tested by changing color parameter), but the text retains the old font and colorI can change the offending tags outside of the Para designer, but I suspect they will just revert to the old style if I close and reopen the chapter.Any help please?ThanksPhil

Dear all.FM-13.0.5.547 on Windows 7 x64.From time to time it suddenly happens that CTRL+c or any other CTRL shortcut does not work. The function can be persoumend via context menu etc. In other applications they work. I have not tested, whether also the ESC, x, y shortcuts do not work in these situations - but may be.The effect can be provoked by switching to some applications (for certain: Pinnacle Studio) and just switch back to FM.The only cure is to restart FM.Does anyone else have such experience?

Hi all,I'd like to:1.   Delete text from my document that has a certain paragraph tag.     There are some headings that appear as 'continued' on each page, with a para tag 'heading continued'. We're going digital and I just need 1 heading for each section. Is there any way to globally delete the 'heading continued' text from the document?2.   Delete empty para tags     I have done a global find and replace of para tags using the Super Find Change (FrameMaker Super Find / Change Reloaded – TechComm Central by Adobe ) plugin. However, this tool doesn't seem to find and replace any empty para tags. There are lots of empty 'Body' tags in the docs, basically carriage returns used for formatting, that I want replaced with empty 'Body new' tags.I am using FrameMaker 12.Thanks in advance for any help,Ronan

I have Framemaker 2017 installed on my work machine (Windows 7) and a home machine (Windows 10).   When I work on the home machine, the program crashes consistently when I try to update book files (LOP/TOC).  From some trial and error, I've noticed that the Book Error Log does not appear on the Windows 10 machine, and the crashes are triggered by small items that would normally just appear on the log (i.e. numbering or color consistency errors). I've tried reinstalling with no change.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there a setting that would cause the book error log to appear/disappear?

I'm evaluating Framemaker 2017 and I can;t figure out why the print button is not showing up on the responsive html 5 output.The print button is not in the Responsive HTML 5 output when I'm on a desktop. I have tried using chrome,IE and edge. I have a couple of chapter files based on the User guide template and also a couple of basic custom documents. I have tried several out of the box themes.Do I need to add something to the chapter documents to make the print button appear or I'm a missing something else?ThanksDan

In my version of FrameMaker 2017, in the Object Alignment Toolbar the icon for the Align Horizontal Center command is still wrong, even though I installed updates 1 and 2. It still looks like this:

Two updates to FM 2017 have been released.  The Help/Updates is not available for some of my team, while a few have been able to get the updates.  What needs to be done so all can get the updates?  Matt

Im getting an extra space just after the opening quote in some cross references in FM10 Structured document. This causes the cross reference to wrap around incorrectly and also looks bad. The space does not appear in the definition, in fact majority of cross references using this particular deifnition do not show with the extra space. It only shows in a number of cross references.Also, there is no space in the source heading. There is an Index marker right at the beginning of the source heading but moving it does not make a difference. Also when I try deleting the first few characters from the source, the cross reference updates but the extra space still shows. Any ideas what could be wrong? I haven't got much experience with structured frame.Marcin

I would like to force FrameMaker to use custom hyphenation only for a specific word.  In Framemaker the word “project” is split as proj-ect, meaning a plan or proposal. I want it to be “pro-ject” meaning to produce a projection. Thanks,Sue

How can I line up the periods for the footnote numbers so the footnote text is lined up when the note goes from one to two to three numbers?

My work group uses unstructured FM10 (and Acrobat Pro X) to do desktop publishing of new-business proposals and contract reports (i.e., technical books but not manuals) for a Large Aerospace Company[tm]. While our current software setup does everything we really need it to do, I'm wary of being so far behind the current version, so I'm recommending to my boss that we consider upgrading to TCS 2017 (we don't really need the other apps besides FM and Acrobat, but we do need a non-cloud version of Acrobat, and I'm given to understand TCS is the best way to get that). So my question is... what do I need to know before proceeding with this change? Are there any major landmines my group needs to be aware of? Specifically...Will any of the cumulative UI changes since FM10 cause us serious cognitive dissonance?Will we have any problem accessing/converting our large collection of legacy documents in FM10 and FM8 formats? Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but one of my coworkers has asked me if there's a way to change the default setting for Runaround Properties of imported graphics, and I can't find anything in my own nosing around (nor, BTW, does "runaround properties" appear as a term in the index of any reference book I have!).We use FM10 to publish technical books (mostly proposals and contract-deliverable reports), and we virtually never actually place graphics directly within text. Instead, all our graphics are contained in anchored frames, along with figure captions in text frames, and whatever limited text runaround we do is controlled by the frame settings. As such, we pretty much never need an imported graphic set to Run Around Contour, which is the default; instead, we want Don't Run Around, which gives us greater page-fitting freedom because we can place the caption's text frame closer to the edge of the graphic without getting runaround effects.This isn't a problem very often, b

I am trying to vertically align multiple lines of text in numbered lists in the html file (publishing to Responsive HTML5). The alignment looks good for numbered lists beginning with 1-9, but the alignment is off for numbered lists that begin with double digits, 10 and above. In this image, you can see that the vertical alignment looks good for the single digit. The "C" and the "n" line up well.However for the double-digit, the continued lines outdent a bit:When I adjust the text-indent for the numbered list class to try to fix the alignment for the double digit text, it messes up the alignment for the single digit text.Has anyone encountered this?

I have a subscription to framemaker (currently using 2015). On and off since the subscription started (in May 2014) I (and members of my team) have had problems opening Frame and Acrobat Pro (I am prompted to reinstall Frame with a valid serial number). Often I have to reboot my system since Adobe subscriptions don't have serial numbers. Earlier this year I chatted with Adobe and they said I need to install Creative Cloud and sign in. That worked for a while but Creative cloud is gone from my system (mysteriously, I didn't remove it) and there is only a pay version available and the problem is back. What is going on?

Hi,we are working with FM11 on a teplate refreshing.now there are existing dokuments with a exiting template, this template has many exiting elements on the referece page.in the new templates referece page this elements were deleted, and others added.taking now a exiting dokument and importing the new template, will add the new elements but unfortunatly not deleting the unwanted elements.is there a function, skript or comand to get ride of exiting unwanted elemens?or how is ths to solve?best regardsbeat

I use a lot of text insets - insert them into a single file and then getting them to xrefs takes several attempts and then ends up creating multiple xrefs which I would like to remove from the doc. Other than saving as a MIF and cleaning the duplicate tags out, what other options are available?
