FrameMaker

We've recently run into a problem when printing directly from FM (using FM 12, structured, EDD - not DTD)We import Illustrator .ai files into our FM files. Some are schematics that use white fills inside boxes (essentially line art with white fills). These files print as intended from Illustrator as well as from a generated PDF - even when I print a screen resolution (aka RGB, low-res) PDF file. The AI files are created in Illustrator from scratch in a CMYK color space. They are saved as CMYK .ai files. They are imported into FM as referenced illustrations. We print to a Canon iR-ADV C5045/5051 color laser printer using its postscript driver. Color management settings for the printer are set to system default for all renderings. While it is possible for us to generate pdf files and print exclusively from those, I'm trying to troubleshoot why this is happening all of a sudden (last week, printing direct from FM was fine). Where would you start looking? Thanks for any help on this.

I suspect I've asked this before … what became of esc,t,m,d? this 'in Table, Move cursor Down one row' doesn't seem to work in FM10, and I had become quite comfortable with it in 9.0If it's one of those things that can be reactivated, do let me know; also, if there's a new shortcut to do the same thing.

I am trying to use conditional paragraphs I have a document that uses 6 paragraphs only 2 of which might be used of the possible six as is they are written one after the other on the page.  The problem I have is how can I automatically adjust the page for the resulting spaces that come about when I hide 4 other conditions. I want the document to " move up and eliminate the spaces" as it is, one condition might be at the bottom of the page and another somewhere in the middle resulting in huge gaps between the two.I have many documents like this where we want to use conditional language. What I have done is line up the optional language on the given page and then I have put conditional tags on them. The Idea was to toggle the one I wanted to use on and the others off.  But then I have a big formatting problem resulting  from the empty lines between conditional paragraphs or spaces,the lines before and after which I have played with endlessly without catching the trick.&nbs

I have table which has 20 rows:First 3 rows are on one page, then half of the page is blank hen remaining 17 rows are on second page.How can I keep table from breaking rows. I want all rows in table to follow one another.Please help. Thanks.

How can I manually uninstall the Suite?

Hi everyone,I need to rename files in a book, but from within the book. A Save as... won't update the cross refrences.I see an fcode for this (FCodes.KBD_BOOKRENAMEFILE), but I've been advised not to rely on these types of shortcuts.I don't see anything else documented in the Scripting Guide. Greetings,We have a Framemaker 10 TLP multi-license software certificate which includes 4 licenses.One of our machines hosting a Framemaker license broke down before we could deactivate the license (it was part of a secure network, and it was effectively locked out of the internet). Is there any way to deactivate the license for this machine or otherwise or retire this machine from the Adobe server records? We do not want the broken machine to count against the number of allowed activations.Thanks in advance.

I have started a custom smart paste script for copying from word to framemaker 12 and most of my code works except for the table template. That is, it works perfectly fine the first time I use smart paste to get a table, but the second time (and all times after that) it fails. I get the tgroup element within the entry element istead of outside the tbdy element, and I have no idea why this is. Hi,This is just a heads up, perhaps someone could verify... if I put the character sequence ]]> anywhere within a JSX file, even within a comment, the script won't run when invoked from the toolkit window. It just hangs at the outset.Russ

FrameMaker Version: 12.0.4.445 (latest, part of TCS5)I have a structured project, where several XML files have been arranged into a ditamap.For one of the XML files, I have a table, where I need to set Cell Vertical Alignment of the cells to MIDDLE.So using Paragraph Designer > Table Cell, I change the entries from Top to Middle (The defaults were Top).With the ditamap pane selected, I then go File menu >> Save Ditamap AsI save the ditamap as "Book 12.0 with fm components (*.book)" file type.In the resulting book, the XML files are now .FM files.However, at this point, when I open the .FM file that has the table, the cell styles have reverted to TOP.I've searched high-and-low for a similar issue. This is looking like a bug to me, but can someone confirm?Thanks

I need urgent assistance! I am working on a FM11 doc that was originally created in FM8. When I try to print to pdf there are no elements in the element list and I get no bookmarks generated in the pdf. We are racking our brains!

Trying to get the Robohelp Menus in Framemaker. I have found instructions on how to add dhtml effects. I am trying to create expanding text to publish in HTML. The 2nd step says select Select Adobe RoboHelp > Dynamic HTML Effects > Drop Down Caption. I don't see this anywhere and I looked for instructions on how to add it but couldn't find anything. Can we import html or pdf files generated from Adobe Framemaker 12 (as the source files) into Jive software? Or do we have any connectivity between Jive and any Adobe products?We are looking for releasing the output of the documents in html format in Jive. I am beginning to work with (unstructured) FrameMaker 10 and struggling a bit with no expert help around. Hence, I have a few queries:Which is the best format to be used for images: gif, png or jpeg?Since I am working on a template designed for Japanese target group, the title of the guides and in some other parts the text used is Japanese. At my end, it should be English-English, unlike Japanese-English for them. Hi everybody,I've been learning FrameMaker for just under a year and I'm tasked with being the resident expert. So far using FM has been strictly a research endeavor but now we are looking to use it for all of our standardized plans (approximately 250 business units in 60+ locations with any number of plans and associated documentation). The plans have to be living documents that will be reviewed and updated annually (in an ideal world).I was hoping to hear what others have done for organizing working documents at this scale. At the end of the day there will be shared sections but I will be producing 250+ PDFs and RoboHelp menus to house all of these plans. My plan was to put them all into a single book file (I could do multiple books but then if I add any shared chapters I would have to open up all of the books to include it). I have written an ExtendScript code that will cycle through and include/exclude based on top-level element attributes. That way I have everything I need in one

When I try to copy a section of another user's installation chapter, the entire document is selected. I only need a few paragraphs, not the whole thing. I have done this before with other documents without any difficulty. What is going wrong? Many thanks for your help.

I run FrameMaker 12 and often use the Symbols button on the menu bar. I would like to customize what symbols go into the buttoon. Is that possible?best regardsBjørn

Dear experts,During developing my script - I can not use the ESTK on my system - with editing it in EditPad (UTF-8 file) and then executing it in FM-12 I got the message: Script Error : Error Message      : Not well-formed (invalid token)Script, Line#   : E:\_DDDprojects\FM-biblio\test-scripts\t-read-formatted.jsx,  6 Fiddling around a lot, deleting initial comment lines, converting the file to Windows code page back and then again to UTF-8 the error persisted.I then run the script in ETSK on the pc of my wife (which is very slow, but is a standard Windows 7 x32 installation) - no problem at all. I saved the script and went back to my system: problem was gone!But now I have the same error with another script. The really strange thing is this: the reported line is always 6, even if I either delete (for the time beeing) irreleant lines or insert such at the beginning.More strange things. I see there is an Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition for the deployment of Creative Suite, but not seeing any info for Technical Communication Suite. Can I use this application manager for TCS? Is there any documentation around this or other resources I'm not finding? Thanks in advance.

So I accidentally got both FrameMaker XML Author and regular FrameMaker. I don't need both, so I'd like to cancel my subscription to XML Author. Anyone able to help me with that?
