FrameMaker

After changing from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 I have problems generating pdf-files. I only get the tps-file. When the tps-file is made, the FM 11 do not answer any more. Do anybody have any suggestions?

Can I install FrameMaker 12 (retail) on both my home and my office personal computers?

Why does FrameMaker 11 claim that it cannot open a file due to missing fonts when in fact no fonts are missing? I have repaired this problem with numerous files, replacing the missing fonts, but Frame is proving recalcitrant with one file in particular.

Is Framemaker Publishing Server 12 the only option for publishing/managing tasks from the web, or is this possible via an API interface using any of the other products?

Hi all,is there a way to provide "content templates" for the autor, containing a certain base structure with which to continue his work? The goal is to provide a set of topic templates with different base structures, i.e. elements already inserted when creating a new topic. Technically these will all be DITA concepts. I want to avoid specialization (with different topic types defined in the structapps) just for this reason because the DTDs will all be identical. It is just meant as an assistance in every-day work.Do you know a script that could be used, or do you have any other suggestion?Robert

In FM12, I sometimes start a "Save as PDF" process, then realize I haven't done one tiny thing that needs doing. If this book is big (31 .fm files in my case with lots of drawings and pictures imported by reference) this can take a long time on my poor laptop. I would like to be able to say "Wait! Stop!" to the PDF-making process. Is there a way to do this short of closing FM? Steve

I'd like to use the 'background color' feature to create dynamic coloured text boxes, but can't see a way of indenting the text without also indenting the background colour.

I am trying to open FM10 files with FM10 but I get hundreds of unresloved cross refs, and it does not work properly.  Can I get a copy of FM10 or is there a solution?

Got a trailhead for this? The symptom is intermittent. It happens after changing many exhibits and then File > Import > File operations, or Text Inset Properties > update operations, in a fairly short time, a time of intense updates during a review cycle.I try to link in a graphic file or inset, but FM seems to use a prior version of the graphic or inset when generating a pdf. I can open the graphic or inset file in its native app (sometimes FM) and the expected change is present. The WYSIWYG shows one thing and the pdf another. Reminds me of the days before WYSIWYG.A quick surf of the forum shows plenty of stuff pertaining to "cache" and "font," but the fonts in the pdf look fine.Best regards,

I have a mysterious problem in FrameMaker 12. When creating a table I am not able to move the table title. When changing the setting to below or above or whatever and pressing Apply nothing happens. The feature works allright in FrameMaker 11. I have tried with both existing and new documents and the it doesn't matter. I can not do anything with the title position of tables. Are anybody else expiriencing the same problem ?regardsBjørn

After updating a large book in FrameMaker10,  the same cross-reference made in  a couple of chapters is turning to red text.   It is  set as  Heading 2.  I tried to deleted the heading and re-typing it.  I tried to change the style to Body and back to Heading 2 but all references to it are turning to red text after I update the book.  Any idea what is wrong and how do I fix it? I am using unstructured version.  See image.

Hi Adobe Framer Community-Does anyone know which FM Object the Constants.FV_SaveFmtBookWithFm property value constant is a property of? I think it's a property of the Doc object, but I'm having trouble finding documentation on how to work with this and/or to confirm this.I am working on an ExtendScript script to automate the PDF process from DITA/XML files in FrameMaker 11 and following the directions on pg. 11 of the Adobe FrameMaker 10 Scripting Guide (also outlined very nicely on FrameAutomation.com) to get the notification set up. I'm using Constants.FA_Note_PreSaveDoc here, and I can get an alert to display the iparam (=0), the sparam (=..\GettingStarted.fm), and the object type (=object Doc). So if the notification tells me the object type is Doc when I perform a Save Ditamap As -> Book 11 with fm components (*.book), how do I determine what (in the Doc object) the Constants.FV_SaveFmtBookWithFm property goes to? Hi everyone....I just upgraded to FM10 and now my WebWorks ePublisher Designer (v2013.2) throws a "no valid license key was found to enable Adobe FrameMaker support" when I try to generate help. I suspect I am missing a plug-in for FM, but can't find any mention of it either in FrameMaker help or WebWorks help or support. Can anybody assist??Thanks!!!

Hi, I'm replacing the text_formattig toolbar with one that looks the same but instead of adding format overrides, it wraps the selected text with the bold, italic etc elements. When I import a graphic, it comes up in an anchored frame that is Centered and Cropped. I always want it to be Right and not-cropped. Is there a way to set this preference?Using FM12, which continues to have the bug that pressing Ctrl-9 (or -8 or -0) and starting to type to quickly (the first time) causing a hang-up from which the only solution is to close FM12 and open it again, a 2-minute waste of time.

Is FrameMaker capable of navigating up/down one row by using the arrow keys? This seems such a basic functionality but I can't do it? I'm using v7.0 (the company is cheap and won't upgrade).  Alternately, is there a third party keyboard utility to get around this limitation?

I'm looking for API information for trying manage Server 11 jobs via a web front end.  Any examples or references to API locations would be appreciated!  Note that what we are trying to create is something similar to what Server 12 already has, but our institutional browser for the forseeable future is IE8, unfortunately, so that rules out Server 12.

After creating and saving a PDF file, I am unable to resave the file with that name after making changes to it.The Adobe Acrobat message I get is:This error does not occur when I try to make comments and resave a  .PDF created with Microsoft Word.I have a workaround which is to save the file using a different name, delete the original file, and rename the new file with the original  name. I would like to hide the welcome/splash screen in Framemaker 12. In FrameMaker 11 there was an option for that in the maker.ini, but I can not find that option in maker.ini 12. Can anybody enlighten me on this?regardsBjørn
