I have several books located in a system directory that contain several images. Some images are repeated in the books so, I have one location (another system directory) where I import them as required into each of the books. I have been asked to move these books from the system directory to my local hardrive. I have copied all the books, image files etc, exactly as they were in the system directory into the new location on my hardrive. When I open the books in the new location on my hardrive, FrameMaker cannot locate these images and I get a Missing File error and dialog screen . When I import the images I always select Copy into document - I am wondering why FrameMaker cannot find the image even though the directory structure has been copied exactly and also because I copied the image - I did not reference them? I have attached a screen capture of the Missing File error I am getting.
We have MIF documents created with pre-Unicode FrameMaker versions that contain text produced with an <Accent> tag. (For instance, .<Accent 52>, which represents &#x103;). Some (or perhaps all) of these characters are not displaying in FM11. This could be because we are missing some fonts, but I'm not sure. Were these numbers built into FrameMaker, or were they set by the authors of the document? If they were built into FrameMaker, is there a chart somewhere that would help us make a crosswalk?
I've built a Frame book (Frame 10) with multiple files from a variety of books. The files have text insets and cross references within and across chapters. When I go to set the numbering at the book level - as soon as I click Set on the numbering dialog - Frame crashes and I get an Internal Error 10024, 6382424, 6369627, 6383085. I'm attaching a screen shot.I've take the files out of the book and added them back in. These files worked fine in the original books I copied them from. I can't get the book to number correctly. Please help.
I need to parse through anchored frames and return the paragraph tag that it is located it. I can't seem to find a property that returns the paragraph tag. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm working in unstructured Frame 11 in Win7.I'm getting an Unavailable Fonts error message for a document I've worked on very recently. Hello,I am developing a structured application for MIL-STD-40051, using the MIL-STD-2361 V4.12 DTD. The cross-reference element <xref> has 10 different Id Reference attributes. Each one is for a cross-reference to a specific element. For example @taskid for a step or test, @figid for a figure, @tableid for a table, etc.FrameMaker uses the first Id Reference it finds in the EDD for <xref>. I found this out by changing the order. Is there any way to get FrameMaker to use a specific Id Reference depending on the element being cross-referenced? I have been trying to find something in the r/w rules to do this. No luck.Regards,Stan
Can FrameMaker authenticate WebDAV using NTLMv1, or alternatively, use Win7's Local Security Policy (set to NTLMv1) to authenticate WebDAV? Attempting to WebDAV into Alfresco's CMS/DMS Repository using the 'Browse URL' function in FM10. When Alfresco is set to authenticate NTLMv2, all works fine, but when Alfresco is set to authenicate NTLMv1, no joy. (Alfresco won't authenticate CIFS with AD using NTLMv2, so we have to downgrade). We have confirmed that FM10 is using NTLMv2 by looking at the Alfresco error logs. Is there a way to change the authentication policy in FM10, or default to what the local PC uses?
My Frame TOC is accurate, the tags are correct. My PDF output has the correct Units in place. However, in the PDF TOC on the left nav, the Unit 5 Lessons appear in Unit 4, the Unit 6 Lessons appear in Unit 5, Unit 6 has no Lessons, Unit 7 is correct. I have spent a full day troubleshooting this. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
FrameMaker 7 - any way to turn off the annoying pop up message "Add new Text Frame" every time I change a header of footer?
I changed my doc to a custom size 17x11 and when I try to set it back to Letter (8.5x11) I get the message, "Resulting columns would be too narrow) and it will not change. Strange bug. Anyone know why this is happening and how do I get my doc back to letter size.
Hello ,I have the following scenario in a document:I want to align the illustration to the top of the page, but the anchor is preventing me from doing so.The best fix I can do is by reducing the font size.Does anyone have a better solution?
Kindly provide silent switch for installing Adobe FrameMaker 11Thanks!
Hi,When I am generating/ updating TOC, I am getting a blank page after each TOC content page. Can someone help? Thanks,Muralisk
Hello,How do we cross-reference an image in the same FrameMaker document as well as an image in some other document. Thanks & regards.
I am using framemaker 7.1 and windows 7. I am very familiar with this error. Every time I have gotten it save as with the same file name has always taken care of the problem. I just reloaded framemaker and now the save as does not work. Any suggestions?
FM 11DITA 1.2I just got back to working on our conversion table and have two questions today:I'm trying to wrap task topics in a task element. The headings in our source files are labeled Heading1Task, Heading1Concept, etc., so finding the tasks shouldn't be a problem for the conversion table. My Heading1Task is set to wrap in the <title> element with a qualifier of h1task.At the end of the conversion table I have this in the first column:E:title[h1task], (abstract* | titlealts*), taskbody, (concept* | ol* | p* | prereq* | stepsection* | ul*), stepsI set that to be wrapped in a <task> element. It isn't working. I have no errors on the FrameMaker Log (Structure Document Report), the Structure View, or anywhere else.Side question: Can I put the asterisks outside of the parentheses, like this (abstract | titlealts)* rather than after each element to indicate that everything inside is optional (zero or more)?2. In my task topics, the steps are coming in as
Is there a way to list all the variables (names & defs) in a book, not unlike a list of figures, etc.?
Hi, when I open a Framemaker 10 document, using Windows 7, I receive the following Internal Error: 10024, 7687848, 7688138, 10076935 and FM10 closes down. I can turnaround and open the same FrameMaker 10 document, using Windows XP, and it opens without any problems. I have to be able to use Windows 7 and FrameMaker 10 together. Any solutions?
Hi. I am looking for information regarding the Named Destinations that FrameMaker (I use Frame v10) generates when creating a PDF. Specifically, I'd like to verify/know what the following prefixes mean. I have tried to ascertain what the designations mean by clicking on them in the PDF, but some aren't as obvious as others.F (as is F#): This appears to mean the First page of a Frame file, confirmed by my clicking on the destination link, and per a reference in the Adobe User-to-User forum.G (as in G#.#######): This one perplexes me. It seems to be random paragraphs. I did find someone in the Adobe User-to-User forums who wrote that G destinations meant paragraph objects.I (I#.#.#######): Are these for Index markers?L (L#): This appears to mean the Last page of a Frame file.M (M#.#.#####.[figures, tables, headings, etc. tag names followed by the title): Various Markers in the file (also identified as such by an Adobe U-to-U forum poster)?P (P.#$##, where $ is a Letter in my generated PD
I cannot make framemaker apply a master page using the master page mapping, on a table that spans over several pages. I specified the paragraph tag on wich lays the table anchor and set the Range Indicator to "Span Pages", but it seems it does not span !This klind of table are the last of my multifiles book so i wouldn't want to insert another blank paragraph at the end of each file (i.e. after the table) to change the "range indicator" to "until changed".Anyone got the same trouble ?
I have a client who has all their documentation in FrameMaker, but needs to export to MS Word to distribute files for editing by various parties. Once edited, my client needs to bring the updated text back into Frame, ideally without having to re-format the entire file. It was suggested that RoboHelp 10 might work, but they are using unstructured FrameMaker.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm using structured FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7, and I'm using AXCM 3.11 to filter my book. For the first time, I'm getting an error message that I've never seen before when I update the book: Expressions and conditions settings in the book are inconsistent. It's complaining about the first chapter. I'm used to the message about inconsistent condition settings, so I've deleted all the conditions from Chapter 1 and the TOC, and imported the conditional settings from the cover, but I still get that error. In desperation, I've copied the Conditional Text Setting from the TOC to the rest of the manual, but I still get that error. I also tried copying the Conditional Text Settings from chapter 1 to the rest of the manual; no good. The funny thing is that in the filtered book, I was able to get rid of the error by deleting all the conditional text settings in the TOC and chapter 1, and importing the settings from the cover. I don't know what's different about the source book.I also read someo
How do I globally replace a bold character override with a specific character format from the character format catalog in FM10? I am not concerned about filtering for specific paragraph tags. Thanks,Marc
Hi,I am currently in the process of converting from Unstructured FrameMaker files to DITA using FrameMaker 11. When I structure the document using the conversion table, I'd like to be able to save the Idref value for the cross-reference as an attribute in the element it is wrapped in. At the moment, when I structure the document, all I can manage is to wrap the text in a <xref> element. Is this possible?Cheers,Zane
Working in a 60+ page document and when it gets to page 42 it will not display the remaining pages. I know they are there as I can see the curser work through the page flow using the arrow key to move down but the page stays at 42.
