I am on Windows 7 Pro, I have TCS 3.5 and using Frame Maker 10. I cannot print a PDF file of a FM book - some of the fonts (especially in titles) are garbled. I was told to install a Post Script printer. I downloaded the Adobe universal PS print driver. When I try to print to the PS printer, it is not a selection in FM. Now what?
Hi,Seems that answers to complicated questions are a bit sparse in these parts, but I'll try again anyway I'm wondering if there is any technique to reliably undo a character format application change; that is, an application of properties to a range of text with SetTextProps(). It is fairly simple to remember a list of original properties (PropVals) and the original text range (TextRange), then reapply those original properties to the whole range. However, within a text range, each character can have its own unique set of properties. So, remembering one set of original properties is not enough... seems I have to remember the properties of every single character in the range, the reapply character-by-character, in order to ensure that the new property application is completely undone. When you apply a character format in the GUI, FM reliably allows an undo, restoring each affected character to its original state. Surely it isn't remembering a PropVals array for every single character (?
Hello,I have inherited a template where the bottom line of the frame's header is blue. I need now to change that color, but can't find where to do this.I go to the Master Page, click on the header, go to the Paragraph Designer > Advanced tab, and in the Frame Below Pgf List I have a 1 pt line selected. Hi,I am working with adobe framemaker 9. The problem I am facing is that, after generating the TOC some links are working fine but few other links are making me navigate to wrong pages in the generated PDF. However, when I cross checked it with the TOC FM file by CTRL+ALT the links map correctly. Is it the framemaker issue or something is wrong with the PDF printer settings? Please find below snapshot of the PDF, just after clicking on a particular topic it shows a black box and takes me to the wrong page. Any help with this is appreciated...Thanks,Heena
Hi All,I want to disable or remove one item of conditional dialog box.For example, if there are 3 radio button in dialog box, I want to disable or remove second one.I did some research and found out that we can create and modify custom dialog box. But I need to modify built in dialog box - conditional marker dialog box.Any help is welcome.Regards,Neha Singh
Hi all, I have a doc set I've been working with successfully for over a year, Fm11, patched, etc.I just made changes to my template master pages, and they won't import properly into my chapter files...They will import into a blank Fm doc, but will drop some of the objects from the master page when importing into the existing docs.I tried a MIF wash on the template, no luck.2 items of interest: The modified template uses Hotspots for navigation When I import the previous version of the template, the master pages for those don't update either.Has anyone seen this before?-Matt
Hi folks,I upgraded to FM 11 more than a year ago, right after it came out. Now, every time I open it, it thinks I'm working off a trial version and prompts me to 'continue trial', 'buy,' etc. This maddening behavior just started recently when I purchased the Creative Cloud, even though FM is not part of that package. Any idea how to get rid of this annoying message?Gail

Not a disaster, but I'm wondering whether there's a work-around for a mild inconvenience … when I'm blatting my way through text files with vi I ruthlessly suppress spaces at the end of a line with s/{space}$// Thoughtfully, vi then deletes the space but leaves the EOL where it was.The equivalent in FM deletes the space and the EOL, effectively adding an unwanted join function.Any ideas? I've already tried s/{space}$/{char}/ in case this might support a two-step approach where I then delete all occurrences of {char}. It doesn't :-{N
I've been trying to track down a crazy font issue all day when exporting my book as a PDF.When I open FrameMaker, I see the following error each time:I also see missing font errors in the FrameMaker Console:And the framemaker book files are not missing fonts:This is the output I see when I view the PDF:Please help, as this is running me in to the ground. Thanks,Nathan
We have several books that have been getting cluttered with old, unused variables. We'd like to start fresh and import only the variables that we have defined in a new variables file. Somehow, when we think we've cleaned up the unused variables, they creep back in. It seems like the new variables are appended. We use a lot of text insets, so could the old variables be lingering there? We're using FrameMaker 10.
Hi fellow scripters,I can easily find the user settings directory in FrameScript, via Session.UserSettingsDir, but there does not seem to be an equivalent in ExtendScript. I know that FrameMaker knows this directory as the application is using it all the time, and I can see that there is a Constants.UserSettingsDir in the FrameMaker Scripting Guide, but there is no reference to this constant anywhere else, nor is there anything in the FDK documentation. How do I read this value from an ExtendScript, does anybody know ?ThanksJang
I've been tasked to export an SGML file from a structure FrameMaker 11 file. The documentation calls for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, but I've got Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. Is 2012 compatible?
I am using Framemaker 11. When I import an image from Photoshop (EPS file) and put a text box on top, I can't get the text to be on top of the graphic without jumping to the next page. Is there a setting that I'm missing in Framemaker? The image is just borders, like a frame, and I'm trying to put the text inside the blank space.
Hi,I am fairly new to FrameMaker, and I am currently experiencing two issues:First IssueI am currently trying to create a book that currently has three chapters. I am trying to break it out into the following format:Main TOC - includes all the headers and related pages for the entire bookMini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File AChapter Source File A - includes all related content to Chapter Source File AMini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File BChapter Source File B - includes all related content to Chapter Source File BMini TOC - includes a mini TOC that highlights all the headers and pages associated with Chapter Source File CChapter Source File C - includes all related content to Chapter Source File CWhenever I click the Update Book icon, however, it does not update the headers and page numbers. They still remain the same way when I first generated
Hi,I've got this problem: I was generating a PDF (with the most common options, I haven't changed anything in standard generation) for an FM book containing .fm files, and in the process Frame Maker crashed. As a result, one of the .fom files doesn't open in FM. When trying to open, it asks for some inexisting file in a folder that dosn't actually exist on my hard drive (see screenshot herewith -- underlined in red this inexisting file in an inexisting folder). All the other files are opening ok, and there were "recovery.fm" files created for them, except that one which doesn't open. Is there a remedy for this problem?Thank you!!!
Hi,I have occasional references that mention things like "Adjust the Kd pot until the voltage is <= 2.0 v" or "Turn the screw until the clearance is => .005 inch."<= means less than or equal to.=> means greater than or equal to.I looked the the installed Character Sets PDF file and could not find these symbols. Is there an ASCII or ANSI code or a special font that has these items as a single symbol?Yours,Michael F========
I am running Structured FrameMaker 11 on Windows XP. The book I'm working on does not allow me to save changes because I do not have write permissions. I have done the following to troubleshoot: Sucessfully saved another project.Saved the problem project to my local drive. Opened the problem chapters outside the book and successfully saved them. Created a new book, reimported the chapters. How do I give myself write permission for this project?
I have made the abbonement Creative Cloud and afterwards I have discovered that Frame Maker is not included. Why?
When I use the F9 key to select my paragraph style for a style that begins with an alphabetic character, the new, full-list version in FM11 works just fine. However, when I need a style that begins with a period (.), the chooser goes weird and typically ends up on a style beginning with a z. If I type again, it finds the style correctly. Similarly, if I wait a couple of seconds before starting to type the period, it finds the style correctly. This behavior is cramping my creative style! Has anyone else seen this? Thanks,Jane
I'm having problems trying to get my SGML to recognize the isoent files in the folder Structure\sgml\isoents. I'll use ISOpub as a reference. I've added it in my document rw rules as #include "isopub.rw". My DTD is in the structapps.fm as Public ID and pathed with Filename. The DTD has the entity identified with ENTITY and called with %ISOpub;. The structapps.fm under Entity locations has the Entity Mame ISOpub and Filename isopub.ent, with an Entity Search paths 1: $STRUCTDIR\sgml\isoents.
Hi, A customer sent me an FM9 document that uses the Symbol font. When he saves the document as PDF, without converting CMYK to RGB, one instance of a character in this font appears in the PDF as a different character in the same font. Other instances of the same character in the same document are fine. Saving as PDF changing CMYK to RGB produces correct results. Does this sound like the usual don't-use-CMYK-and-Save-as-PDF-with-FM9 type of problem? Or should we look for something else? Minor variations of the document cause the problem to go away:1. Deleting some earlier instances of characters in this font cause the problematic one to appear as expected.2. Some characters in this font occur in tables. Converting those tables to paragraphs "fixes" the problem.3. Saving as PDF under Win 7 from FM10 and FM 11 produces expected results. We have only seen the problem on a Win 7 system. On Vista and XP, we get correct results. Editing the document on Vista and savin
