Selecting an object and when I bring up the object menu (not sure what it is called), the expand menu item is always grayed out. How can I expand an object?
Hi everyone, the ipad illustrator has surprised me positively. Bravo team. Still a lot of work.I have a question, a task. How fast and with what tools can I draw such an object on my iPad? Best Regards.
I'm using Apple Pencil, but when typing text i want to use the full-size keyborad, not the little mini one in the little pencil bubble. Seems that using the pencil may deactiviate the full-size keyboard? Although I was able to bring it up once... not sure what I did. Anyone else?
I have drawn a path, used the mirror tool to duplicate the path, selected each path individually and expanded each path. I now want to join the two paths to make one complete path but if I select two end points with the point selection tool 'join path' is greyed out. If I try and join with the pen tool by clicking on the last point of one path 1 and then clicking on the first point of path 2 it simply creates a new point and does not join the 2 paths. I'm a long time user of illustrator on the desktop, working on-the-go with the iPad is a nice idea but my first attempt with ai on iPad has been frustrating.
Hi, I love Mirror mode when drawing in Illustrator on the iPad. I've found some quirksIt seems I can easily be bounced out of mirror mode, the lines get "set" and then drawing additional lines is back in normal (non-mirrored) mode. I'd like to get back into the same state, with the same mirror axis as before. Maybe there's a way to do thisit would also be nice to have a visual reference to understand when I'm in mirror mode and not (maybe there is one I am not noticing)I have been launching mirror mode by selecting a drawn line and finding the mirror mode tool. But my selection creates a set of tools right below the selection, - these seem to obscure the important middle handle of the mirror axis if I want to reposition it left or right
Can you switch your pen tool to different brushes on Illustrator for iPad? \\I can't figure it out. But would love to use it the same way I use Adobe Fresco.
Usually when I'm done with an illustration, Illustrator on the iPad will automatically save my work when I press the "back" button. I did that with the most recent illustration I've been working on and it didn't save at all, and I lost a day's worth of work. Is there a way to recover the illustrator file?
I have the 9.7' iPad Pro and illustrator crashed every time I submit my login credentials. Please advise.
I was so excited when I found out illustrator was coming to the iPad! But it keeps crashing! I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my iPad. I'll open it once and do some work and when I go back to do more work it opens for 2 seconds and crashes. It works fine on my laptop, but the iPad version just can't keep up or something. Anyone else have this issue?
Hi there, I used Illustrator on my iPad last night. Everything was fine. But this morning no matter how many times I tried I just couldn't open it on my iPad again. what should I do now? Many thanks.
I get the message "cannot move non-layer object to the top" when moving an object between layers. See attached video.
Hi thereCan someone please explain to me how I can delete a layer? I just can't find any UI element that hints at this.
I was watching a MAX session yesterday where somebody created a filled circle, and then dragged the circle to open it up like a pie graph. I'm trying to figure out how he did it -I'm trying do do it with a thick stroke, no fill. Anyone able to help me?
When will Adobe create an graph tool on illustrator App
I can't find this settings in AI IPad, is this possible?I want to create a big document for print (like 180cm) but I can't change the ppi to 300.
Has anyone seen a way to convert a layer to a template layer on Illustator for the ipad? I like to be able to work in outline mode when tracing refrence photos etc.
Hi all! Can anyone please tell me how to taper strokes in the new Illustrator for iPad?? I feel like this should be something fairly simple, but cannot seem to figure out how 😞
Hi,I'm trying to get into using the new illustrator app in the ipad. When i've sent over some existing files from computer to ipad, i'm having trouble saving pattern fills on to the app? It seems i can only use solid colour or gradient. Is there any way to save pattern fills from imported documents, or create new ones?I work within clothing design, so i need to be able to fill with prints and textures! Thanks in advance for any help!
I seem to have run into an auto-save bug. I'll be working on a drawing. I draw, I tweak, I make new layers, draw some more... and then, when I return to the "Your Work" area, my changes aren't saving. Or more accurately, they seem to be saving occasionally. I tried duplicating the file, same result. New files seem to be working? Its inconsistent, and unclear to me what is happening. Illustrator 1.0.0, on my ipad pro 12.9 inch, 2015 version.
Can I access my CC libraries while working in illustrator on the iPad?
Hi there! It seems like when I want to drag a path object to be on its own new layer in the layers panel, sometimes it works, but most of the time I will get an error message saying "can't move non layer object to the top". What exactly does this error mean? I do seem to be able to create a new empty layer and drage my shape into it, but it is much more laborious. I also still haven't figured out why sometimes just simply dragging a shape between existing layers to make its own layer works fine, but when I try to do it again another time it gives me the error! {Renamed by MOD}
Hello again! Can any one please tell me if it's possible to change the reference point on the "transform" tool on iPad? It's at the center by default, but I'd like to input coordinates for the upper-left corner of my bounding box instead. Attached is a screenshot of how it appears on Desktop, but I don't see this option on the iPad app version.
Hello all! Excuse my ignorance, I'm not an artist or graphic designer 😞 I just want to know how to send my vectorized images to my laser cutter without the box aka the artboard around it. There are no tutorials for this for the ipad version yet. Thanks in advance!
I use illustrator primarily to make repeat patterns. I know the Illustrator app on the iPad has a pattern tool to help make patterns, but I want to create more detailed patterns so I wanted to use traditional techniques to make repeat patterns. On the desktop version, I was able to easily do that by using the move tool to tell an object to move a certain distance so all objects that hang over the edge will be repeated on the other side of the art board. With the app, I thought I was going to be able to use the transform tool, however, as seen in the picture, I moved the object to the corner and instead of reading 0,0 as it did when I first created an object it reads -210,-294. My art board is 1000 x 1000 px so ideally I would need to move the object 1000 px to the right. My though is the transform tool measures how far you moved the object and not where your object is on the art board. Is there anything in the app that is like the move tool on the desktop version?
I'm new to Illustrator, but generally pretty quick to learn new programs. I've been playing around with Illustrator on my iPad, but am finding there are a LOT of things that are available on desktop version that aren't on the iPad. One example is to 'draw inside'... I've watched videos on how to do it, but cannot for the life of me figure it out on the iPad. I'm hoping that in time, more tutorials will come out since it's brand new, but man am I getting frustrated. Are there fewer features, or am I just not finding them?
