InCopy

I have some problems with Incopy. After a few seconds Incopy shows an error "massiv problems from the software" and then quit the software. I made all updates and it doesn´t work 😞ThanksAlex

Hi all, we're having an InCopy (and InDesign too) issue. We work on a server and save all of our files to that server. Recently, one of our editors finished editing a file and when the second editor went to open it, the file had reverted back to a previous version, resulting in a lot of work lost. This has happened before and has happened with InDesign Assignment files. Any idea what might be the case? Server issue? Incopy issue? We're all on the most recent version of InCopy (16.0.1).  We're at a loss and a lot of time has been wasted trying to recover or redo the work. 

Hi guys,I have never used the assignment option in InDesing and not familer with it. I don't know what I did but suddenly I see that every new document I create is open with an assignment I can't delete. It all started when I was trying see how notes option works in a certain doement, I really don't know what I did but I would like to remove it and the delete option is grayed out...I wold like to turn this option off, or to remvoe this Unknown user, and don't knwo what to do. Can somone help me please? I'm using the latest InDesign version 16.1 on a mac OS 10.14.6 Thank you,shlomit

I work for a marketing agency and was looking to implement InCopy into our workflow as the thought of creating a single copy doc to share between not only copywriter, designer and proofing but also the multiple layout interations we create (posters, shelf talks, flyers, etc.) is incredibly alluring. It's as close to "smart copy" that I've seen to date and would save designers hours of work over the length of a job's life. However, while I have learned how to edit type styles to allow the type to change on the fly the one thing that's preventing me from implementing InCopy's addition is how it doesn't allow custom paragraph rags between shared documents. If there was a way to allow InDesign to track uniqe paragraph breaks per document I think that'd do the trick—but obviously I'm not a software engineer. If someone's thought of a workaround for this issue, I'd love to hear about it! Ich möchte einem Kundenaufgabenblätter mit Fragen und interaktiven Textfeldern in InCopy zu Verfügung stellen. Der Kunde soll Texte ändern können und aus InCopy PDFe generieren können, die dann immer noch ausfüllbare Bereiche besitzen. Direkt aus InDesign ist das kein Problem, aber ich schaffe es nicht, Schaltflächen und Formulare in InCopy beizubehalten. Die können nicht in das Aufgabenfeld gezogen werden. Angeblich kann man docInteraktive Inhalte auch in InCopy nutzen ... oder nicht?

I got an ICMA and several hundred ML files from a translator who said she wasn't able to check in any of the ML files from within the Assignment panel. I was able to check in two but only by opening them by themselves, but we're unable to do it when the ICMA file is open in InCopy. The option to Check in or Check In All is grey out. Anyone know why this would happen?  

We are having issues with InCopy files corrupting and not opening on either InCopy 2020 or InDesign 2020. We have tried various solutions posted to these boards, and tried to use textedit to pull out the content of the files to no avail. Does anyone know where we can send documents to, to see if the files can potentially be saved?  Thanks

This would involve 50-60 page proposals, tight deadlines, multiple and heavy revisions on content, last minute changes, etc. The organization would like for the Proposal Writers to be able to edit content from their end and have the changes be reflected in the InDesign file which i would manage. On paper InCopy looks great but just wondering from a real-world standpoint if this is the way to go. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We recently updated all the fonts in our monthly magazine, and this is the first issue all of my editors are using them. We purposely chose all Google fonts because they are free and installation/activation is easy. Or so we thought. (We're working with Montserrat and Playfair primarily.) Every single editor has gone through all the steps to make sure they're installed in every possible place. Font Book, in our InCopy fonts folder and activating upon InCopy startup. But then we keep getting activation errors and missing fonts. My InCopy has a spinning blue circle at the top of the menu bar that is constantly activating Montserrat, but never gets through it. Now, just today, I removed Montserrat everywhere from my computer and deactived it in Adobe Fonts. Then I reactivated it, and it was fine. I opened a file, did my changes. Then, I reopened the same file maybe 30 minutes later--no one else had touched it--and all of the Montserrat had changed to Montserrat (TT). Previously in th

Hello, We're using InCopy, via dropbox as server, to coordinate a small magazine project where the editors are in the US and our designer is in the EU. He puts InCopy docs on the DB server and we're to access them. I have been able to access one document--a test from a previous issue. But I cannot access any of this issue's articles. We've tried using assignments, and he's tried placing the docs within a folder. (See second screen shot.) I don't have smartsync turned on. And, another employee is able to access the files! So, it is something on my end. (Could it be that I am running Big Sur? My colleague is running Catalina.)Thank you, LisaI will check back here often over the next 24 hours.   

Keep getting this error. Everything is closed and no one is in the Assignment.Deleted and reassigned, still getting the same error.Any ideas? 

If someone wanted to select all content within the Header separator bar and the Body, could this be done via script or menu commend?  I have not found that menu command.

My client is using IC to proof their catalog, which I created in ID. The client has had no issues for the last year while working at their office and using IC. Now they are at home and proofing on their home computer using IC, and her edits aren't coming back to me. When I go to open the file in either ID or IC, I don't see any of her changes, nothing has been updated, and the Update Content button is grayed out. She says she has been checking in and checking out and she sees all the changes she has made on IC, but I don't see them. However, she can see all the changes I continue to make to the ID file. The ID file is in Dropbox.

The idea is to use incopy in combination with excel to update certain text fields in indesign. Therefore in the indd.file I add respective levels or fields to an incopy task. When opening the incopy task, I can easily connect the desired excel cells to the part that shall be updated (using place). The changes are then updated in the original .idml or .indd file. Everything is perfect...However when the excel file and its cell content is changed and I reopen the incopy task again, I am not asked to update the connection. The result is that I have to place in the excel connection again.How can I update incopy placed content automatically? To connect the excel cell directly in the indd.file (place in option) in principle works, but with each change in the excel cell and the afterwards update in indd, embedded field are deleted.I apologize if I may not explain my issue in the best way, but I am not a native :-).Though I hope someone could assist me in my matter.  &

Trying to use the glyph function of InCopy but the software crashes. Do somebody know how to fix it ?

Im fairly new to Adobe products and have downloaded a few images from Adobe stock all of which are coming up blury and pixalated when I place them. Ive tried to download them in different formats- vector and JPEG and it made no difference. I have an author working inCopy and we're using Adobe Cloud for the workflow. He had not experienced any unable to sync issues with a certain until a few minutes before InCopy crashed. Now InCopy is not letting him open up his file. He had selected save on his changes up to the time of the crash but it's now showing with a file size of 0kb and seems corrupt. I work for a corporation and am currently trying to find out who is my system administrator so they can submit a query directly to Adobe for help, but I was wondering if anyone on in this community has had experience retrieving files through Adobe - do they have a backup somewhere? Hope that made sense! We've been finding a few syncing issues using Adobe Cloud but we hadn't when we used Google for a collaborative workflow. 

I am using InCopy20 on a PC. When it asks if I want to check out the file, I reply "yes." Then I try to type in the file and it says: "Unable to lock the following file." This is a shared file, but I know that no one is using it or has it open at the same time. Any thoughts on why this may be happening? Thank you!  

Wouldn't it be great to have a Grammarly extension for InCopy. My primary writing tools are Microsoft Word and Google Docs because Adobe Ecosystem doesn't provide Grammarly support. Else, it was an easy switch for me. I have to copy the content from Word to InDesign so often, I could have avoided it if I directly worked in InCopy. 

I've tried to copy the IC text into a new IC document, but, if I name it the same name — the next time i open it the story bar says "in use" by the same indesign document (which does not exist)  Tried to "Check In" but it is unavailable.  Any suggestions besides just renaming the file?  

I just installed  macOS Big Sur v11.0.1 and now, for some reason, my cursor is not showing up. I'm running it on a MacPro (2017),Processor 3.2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W64 GB nenirtm 2666 MHz DDR4Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB Anyone else having this problem?

I've created an InCopy "Assignment" from my InDesign document, comprised of several magazine spreads. I sent to my client for their review but they are not able to edit the text. Apparently I need to "Check Out" or Check In" each individual document text frame. I did so on the first spread but every other spread appears grayed-out and I am not able to perform this function - or any other. How come!!!- Greg 

Hi, I have version 15.12x64 installed on my computer.I am unable to open files. It simply won't launch.Is it possible there is a compatibility issue with the version that was used to create the files?Any solutions anyone could suggest?Thank you so much.
