Hello,I'm currently working with and InDesign-InCopy workflow for book editing and I'm in charge of designers, translators, editors and more. Is there a way to lock the styles like paragraph, character and tables in InDesign so the translators and editors see everything but can't change the styles in the document?I saw that maybe I could write a script for this specific need I have, but it might be too complicated. Any suggestions? Thanks, Val.
I recently purchased photoshop and updated my existing version of incopy.Neither of these programs are now visibile in my launchpad - I can only access them through the creative cloud app. How do I access it from my mac (Monterey 12.6) without first having to open the creative cloud?
Hi, So, I am working with a team to create some products. We have NOT set up the workflow to include a cloud - as many of the team do not have adequate access to the internet. So, one user will check in all content, forward for InCopy and then send to the next use. In this instance it has only ever been one user editing the file. Sometimes, a user has checked in all their work before exiting the program, the next time they work on the file, they do not open the file from InCopy. It will give this message "One or more stories in this assignment are checked out to other users. The assignment can't be packaged until the stories are checked in." Is there ANY way to override this message and check in all content? If a user cannot solve this issue - they have to start from scratch.
Hi all,First problem I've ever had with InCopy. We are on an email-based workflow (by necessity not by choice). Designer sends editor an .icap file and the editor returns an .idap file. This has always worked but on one particular file we got the error message: The package file contains an assignment that doesn't exist in "FileName.indd." Your package file may be out of date or associated with a different document. How do you want to continue?- Browse to locate the correct document OR- Save the contents of the package to disk We are certain that there is only one InDesign document. We compared assignment lists as they appear in InCopy and InDesign and they appear to be identical. In the InCopy package's folder the list of .icml files is identical to InCopy's assignment window except for one case where the file name varies slightly from the assignment name, but this does not create any link errors and the file name is correct in the XMP file info. I would be okay wit
Alguém teria uma solução?----------------//Incopy has no change control on footnotesHi!I'm using incopy to update books, it's flowing super well, two years ago, I noticed that the incopy/indesign change control doesn't flag the footnote texts. Would anyone have a solution?
If text is running over part of an image in InDesign in my colleague's file - either around object, or a box ignoring text wrap - the .icap file she sends me is not allowing this to happen, resulting in best-case scenario where the layout view I see isn't identical, and worst case - I can't see the text at all in design view, and must edit in story - and obviously then can't work out whether the copy fits or not. I've Googled a few times, trashed preferences, even tried creating brand new files to test with, and I am seeing the same issue each time. Both of us are running completely up to date. This has been an issue for a long time (I've just dealt with the frustration, then forgotten to post in here to find a fix each consecutive month I am dealing with the files!).(The blurred area is text - unedited so I've blurred it - and the gap is between pages, but it's just an example of how entire boxes of text become unviewable each time)
My editor and art director are running into issues with collaborating through indesign and incopy via dropbox. This hasn't been an issue before and we are trying to figure out what the source of the problem is. Our art director will save her indesign file to dropbox which is then opened by our editor to incopy but is receiving this error currently: Cannot open "InCopyTest_1.4.23.indd" We need to be able to work off dropbox as our server in order to manage live edits. Any idea what the issue could be?
Hi there, I am in a workflow as designer InDesign with two editors using InCopy. Our ICMA and ICML files are in DropBox. The InDesign docs and images are local on my external hard disk. One editor is working from a PC, the rest from a Mac.One file seemed to be corrupt as on 2 pages tekst an imaages were partly lost. After adding the tekst and images, the same problem occurred after closing and opening. So I decided to make a fresh start and throw out the 2 dubious pages and add 2 clean pages with again the text and images and assigned the text blocks of these pages. Now for all of us the document is and signed out and we cannot access the asignments (except for the newly added 2 pages. The messagge is that the ISMA file is in use and that one of the editiors had signed out all the text boxes, but he hasn't! (he gets the same message) How can we get everything synchronized and signed in again? Thanks! Sam
Hi there, I work in Dropbox as on of two editors and with one designer. Everything went fine until 27 December. Since then, all my ICML files are still changed when I check out, but these are no longer synchronized with the ICMA-files. This went automatically before 28 December. The others don't see my changes now (oddly, if I open the ICMA files, I do). The other editor has no issues. How can we get everything synchronized again? Thanks!
Recently switched from a Windows to Mac. Went to open an .indd file in InCopy (via Dropbox on desktop) that a co-worker prepared on his Mac, and the text is missing on most of the pages. When I go to check out one of the blank pages, I get the "Not a valid InDesign Interchange doucment" message. The .indd file is not an online-only copy. I simply double-click it from the Mac Finder to open it in InCopy. Never had this issue when I was using a Windows and the same Dropbox account, files, etc.
In text that is right justified, sometimes the last line has very large spaces between the words. How to correct this?
can somone help please? in order to use a text macro the help function tells me to to go window/text macro etc but I do not have that option in my window menu.. any ideas anybody- would be very grateful to get a solution
Does this exist yet?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to log into InCopy 2021 using a Windows 10 (64 bits) and I get this error message: "Login failed. Invalid operation (S1019)" (see below and attached). I used InCopy yesterday with no trouble at all. Please let me know if you can help me out with this error. Thanks so much in advance! Best regards,
Hello, I'm a graphic designer and I use it to make language versions of annual reports. I export the icml files to the translator and then make the graphic adjustments in Indesign. Here are some questions that remain a mystery to me:1- Sometimes the font used is changed on certain word groups when I update the assignments in Indesign.2- The number of words is important since the price of the translator depends on it. How can I avoid exporting blocks that are "lying around" on my work boards? (I find this counter intuitive as it goes against the experience of managing imports when assembling in Indesign).3- Because of the graphics and flowcharts, I always have a very high number of icml files (about 400 for example). But there are many empty files. Is there a method to not export empty blocks or to delete these files automatically?
I have an issue with handling multiple assignment elements.I can not drag more than one or two - not three or more - text objects into Incopy assignments from Indesign in one of my multipage work documents. Editing all stories assignments does not work either. It produces idml-files, but they are not shown in assignments.Quite annoying, if I have to drag two and two objects at a time. Other docs work well, so its a problem in one document. Does anybody have an idea what I can do to solve it?
Hello! I bought the InCopy 2023 version, but my employer is requesting I use the 2020 version, I have Windows 11 and a PC.Can anyone assist with this? Thank you!
Both the designers and I have updated to 2023 InCopy and InDesign. And since then I've been unable to open the InCopy, icma, files. I'm getting this error message: Not a Valid InDesign Interchange Document. We are using a Dropbox online (not offline) workflow. Any suggestions? Thanks
Hi,I have applied 'Text Frame Auto Size - Height Only' as an Object Style to all the text boxes in my InDesign file. These do extend automatically when I update links in InDesign after the InCopy user has completed their amendments. However, I wondered is there a way for the text boxes to extend for the user within InCopy so they are able to see what the content looks like on the design? Many thanks for your help, Tom
Muchas Gracias
Hi! The editorial team I am a part of uses InCopy, and with the new 2023 version, we can't seem to set it as the default program for .INDD files. The 2023 version can still open .INDD files when the 2022 version isn't installed (in my case, I haven't uninstalled it on my computer yet, so .INDD files are opened by 2022 instead of 2023), but we can't set it as the default. Does anyone know if this is just a bug with the new release? I've been looking around the internet, but I can't seem to find any posts about it. I know we can work around it for now, but I'd like to make sure there's not something I'm overlooking. We work on Windows 10 PCs, in case that's relevant. Thanks!
I'm running a MacBook pro 2017 - That is an i7 quad-core with 16 Gb Ram plus Radeon Video card. I have a 1Tb SSD driveI'm running the latest version of Incopy CCI have a file open that has about 26 pages mostly just text. The text includes both Hebrew and English.I've set the settings of display for high performance (rather than quality)Incopy rendering of text, and simple things like TYPING!!!!! results in a pinwheel (beachball) every moment. This is ridiculous. I can't use it, because it is obstructing my workfllow. Photoshop CC and lllustrator CC are 10 times faster. For comparison, I can edit a 600 Mb illustrator file with no lag with no problems. Incopy is horrendously slow. What surprises me is that the developers don't check their software and see how it is used by actual professionals on the latest hardware. I feel this product is antiquated when I use it. This is a serious software flaw. Incopy is not handling t
