InDesign

I am using InDesign 2021 & 2022. It is constantly "Not responding" using both versions. I can't get anything done. This has been going on for months. Since purchasing this iMac with the M1 chip. Actually I've been experiencing issues with InDesign since before this new iMac was purchased. I purchased it to try and stop the issues thinking it was the older Mac I had that was causing the problems. But that seems not to be the case.I open InDesign and then try to open a magazine file and it immedietly hangs up. Every click causes the spinning wheel to appear and then I get the "application not responding" message. I've restarted 3 times this moring and it is still happening. I really am hating Adobe right now. 

I feel as if it exists.Or maybe there could be a snap button?But Alt+↓ Ctrl+↓ does have some special features.

Seit dem letzten Update von Indesign + Illustrator  + Mac OS X (alle 3 sind aktuell) funktioniert der Vektor-Transfer (Copy & Paste) von Illustrator zu Indesign nicht mehr. Bei den Zwischenablage-Optionen in InDesign kann ich zwar einstellen, dass PDF bevorzugt werden soll, dann sind die Pfade des Objekts aber nicht mehr editierbar. Bei den Zwischenablage-Optionen in Illustrator habe ich alle Optionen ausprobiert, hat nichts gebracht. Info: der Import von Vektoren in Photoshop aus Illustrator funktioniert noch nach wie vor, also gehe ich davon aus, dass der Bug hier bei inDesign liegt. Auch aus Photoshop heraus können keine Pfade nach InDesign kopiert werden. Hier kommt ein EPS - Fehler.

recently my indesign 2025 (20.3.1) crashes more than usual. I'm running macOS Sonoma 14.7.6 (23H626) on Apple M1 Max 32gb ram.Is there any benefit in upgrading to macOS Sequoia?Could the benefits be offset by issues with other Adobe applications?   thx     <Title renamed by MOD>

I try to place TIFF images rendered from Blender and get the error "Error encountered while reading TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible."While this was no problem at all in all previous versions of Indesign (2022, 2021, …) version 2023 can't handle them anymore. Also opening files previously created with version 2022 containing those tiff's can be openend, however, I get errors trying to make pdf's and they show grey.Open them and resave in photoshop, without changing any settings, solves this issue, however, I have hundreds Indesign files containing much of those files. The TIFF's are saved with zip compression, since all others (LZW, No compression) gives me images where the transparency is shown black, so no option for me. In the future I can use other file formats for my render, but I would like to continue use my old TIFF's.I attached 1 example image.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Indesign moves down text in exported PDF files.Please see screenshot attached.Numbers and weekdays (mo, di, mi, do) are inseparate text frames and different layers.Indesign 16.4 on iMac with Catalina. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm trying to paste a large body of text into a series of connected text boxes, but half way through the copied text, it stops showing up. This is usually mid text box with more connected after the text stops. How can I fix this?

Hey, I am struggling to get my placed incopy file to update in indesign. I have tried restarting, updating, quitting. I have attached screenshots. The text box in Indesign shows a pencil with a line through. I have no locked objects or layers.Any ideas?

Hello there, first post to this communtity. I feel that it is long overdue and I'd like to publish my firt E-photo-book. I have installed a trial version of InDesign. I am a total novice and not quite sure where to start and a Google search etc just throws up so much info it's enough to make my brain explode. At a glance I'm thinking I need to be making EPUB format. But where to start with sizing, best resolution etc. I welcome your comments. Thank you! Karl.

Greetings!  I'm using InDesign 20.0.1 on a Windows 11 desktop.  I am intermittently having issues with text disappearing from text frames.  There are no other objects on the page, just one text frame.  The text appears as I type it, but when I deselect the frame the text disappears.  I have checked that the Character and Paragraph Styles are set to None.  Screen mode is Normal, Display Performance is Typical Display.  This happens with "regular" Adobe fonts such as Arial, Minion Pro, Century Gothic, etc (no third-party fonts).  Changing Stroke/Fill doesn't affect this.  Thanx,Jay

20.3   Three of us same issue, clicking between tabs/doc and the programme appears to freeze but will *eventually* goto the other tab.   All on windows 11, this problem did not exist before this version. Also for one team member opening the app the interface is massive, if she minimises the window it then fixes itself.   Would be great if Adobe could fix please.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I publish 6 monthly magazines and have been using InDesign since 2013.Just had the worst three days of production ever... essential part of our business is cut and pasting common topic pages from one magazine to syndicate them in others. I have lost count of the number of times ( I run PC's with Windows 11) I have had to use Task Manager to force shut In Design as simply cutting and pasting hangs the lot.  Found some stuff on the Adobe help site but it keeps referring to SING Components and seems to be for Windows XP and Vista. I am on Version 20.3.1x64. Any ideas?

Hi, my file isnt working, i can open it but then i cannot click on anything it stops and doesn't allow me to even save it on my computer. I have it saved now only as an indesign file. I treid everything chatgpt says and it still doesnt allow me to work in it or even click ones somewhere. What can I do? Thank you very much, really needing help

Hello,I'm working on a book, and I need to find out how many footnotes I have. I hate to go through and count them all manually. Is there a place I can go to see how many footnotes the document has?

I recently upgraded to InDesign 2025 from 2024, Now I am having a glitch with anchored inline objects (icons for products in a catalog).After using Publish Online, all the inline anchored objects have moved to the right by a few milimeters, and now overlap the text they are inline with. The files where orginally created in 2024 InDesign.  The anchored objects are properly placed in the file, the glitch only appears on the uploaded published file.I cannot use text box anchoring. It is not at all practle for my needs. The icons needs to be inline with the product title, and move accordinally if the text changes.In Indesign: Published document:

Hi everybody, everytime I try to open this indesign file it crashes to desktop. The last message it comes up it says that ID is trying to replace some fonts. I uploaded the crash log and the crashing file.Thanks in advance!

I need the standalone installers for these three applications, but Adobe claims not to have download links anymore (which is a lie), and you can’t get them using CC Desktop App. I want these versions because I know they work; and I don’t want all the bloat that Adobe adds with each new version, or the AI crap they’ve added for 2025. Does anybody have them so that I can download them? I know there are some sites that have a bunch of past versions for both Windows and Mac, but from what I’ve read about people who tried to use those, they all fail because the installer is somehow corrupted. I’d appreciate any help.

Hi everyone,We're running into a consistent issue when exporting a book (.indb) to PDF via script, particularly in InDesign Server workflows. When exporting a book using a script like this: book.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, pdfFile, false, preset);Some images inside auto-sized image frames (usually with height or height+width auto-sizing enabled) do not appear in the final PDF. However, if we add the following logic: var doc = app.open(bookContent.fullName, false); doc.recompose(); //This seems to fix it doc.close(SaveOptions.YES);then re export the book, all images appear correctly. what we observed  The frames are visible in InDesign UI, and images appear fine.If I export a chapter directly with indesign UI, PDF is fine.If I export the .indb book without recompose(), images are missing.This happens in both InDesign Desktop and InDesign Server, but especially affects automated flows. So my questions are  Why does book.exportFile()

InDesign export to PNG has a bug. It renders PNG files with horizontal lines where transparency exists. The checkbox for "transparent background" seems to get rid of these lines but not consistently. Also, it doesn't matter if there's truly a transparent background (empty page) or if there's a solid shape in the background. This is not a new issue but has been going on for months if not years. I only recently discovered it was happening and affecting my teams output.   For what it's worth, I'm on Mac OS. Not sure if this issue exists on Windows, too.   <Title renamed by moderator>

I was sure there was an InDesign version of iPad, but it seems that is no longer the case? Has it been removed or do I just need to look harder?

I am trying to display  the IPTC Core metadata field "Job Identifier" in captions on my photographic images - I am using this field as a unique  "Asset Number" for each image. Despite reviewing documentation in a variety of places that says "Job Identifier" is a legit choice, there is no such choice I can see in the Object > Captions > Caption Setup dropdown for the Metadata field. Everything I don't care about is there, "Job Identifier" is not. Maybe I am missing some step? Or maybe the documentation is wrong? I hate the idea of going through several hundred images and stuffing some unrelated metadata field that inDesign would allow with the information just to work around this. Any suggestions before I start pulling my hair out.

Reinicie InDesign para recuperar el trabajo que no se haya guardado en cualquiera de los documentos."Ya he probado las siguientes opciones y no ha servido (con ayuda del servicio técnico por el chat):Copiar el archivoDesinstalar InDesign 2025 y probar con la versión 2024.Desinstalar InDesign 2025 y volverlo a instalar (en el servicio técnico me envió un link)Descargar el archivo en cuestión desde Creative Cloud, pero siempre arroja un error que no se pudo descargar.Cerrar las sesiones iniciadas en otros equipos.Puedo abrir todos los archivos sin problema, pero al parecer solo este está dañado

Hi everyone, I'm using InDesign 2024 and running into an issue where some fonts aren't embedding properly when I export to PDF. I've checked my export settings, and "Subset fonts" is unchecked. The fonts are licensed and installed on my system, but they still show up as missing or get replaced in the PDF. Has anyone experienced this or found a reliable fix? Any help would be appreciated!    

I'm trying to scale text in indesign using cmd+shift, and it's not working. And it won't let me proportionately scale anything in indesign holding shift etc- it just gets distorted. When I try to duplicate using option+cmd+shift, that doesn't work either. I've tried EVERYTHING- checked my preferences, reset preferences, uninstalled, reinstalled, please help. Please advise.
