InDesign

Hi, I have some text in arabic language. I need some dots to be underline and some to be overline.Issue is that the dots are zerowidth characters. (Screenshot attached). I am using underline feature but I need the underline OR overline only under or over the text.  (Screenshot attached) How can I achieve this? Paragraph rules wont work here.

I am working on a magazine, and I normally always do one file with several magazine covers for the team to choose from, and another file with all the magazine content. Each have their own review link. The issue I found is that one I export the second review link, when I go back into the other file the comments and review link is all from the second review link, and I cannot update the first document with the changes on the first review link I created. It. creates a new link and gets rid of all the the other comments on that file that I was saving for other people to review. How can i solve this? I have tired using Indesign Beta and Indesing 2025. Restarting Indesign and even the computer and this keeps on happening. Can I not have more that one active review link working at the same time? Doesn't make much sense if that is the case. I am on Macbook Air 13-inch, M3, 2024 Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)

Hi all,I'm literally unable to work now as a mouse left click barely works... I can select elements, but menus are not responsive to clicks – i.e. unable to pick a font, color, image within frame etc. I've tried a few versions of InDesign 2024 and the 2025 one, different mouses and input devices (pens etc.), restarting, resetting etc. There are no plugins installed. Anybody has an idea what to do? 🙏 I've got lots of projecs that I cannot finish...Computer: MacBook Pro M1 ProMax 64GB

This is one of the worst updates I've ever seen in any software. Why would you encourage your clients to use the new version ? It's dismal. I'm running a Mac Studio with 35Gb of RAM, it runs After Effects with no problems, it ran InDesign 2024 with no problems. How did you mess this update up THIS bad ? For every click I do on ID 25, the app freezes for at least 5 seconds. EVERY. SINGLE. CLICK. I'm completely baffled at your sheer incompetence.Congratulations I guess

We are using InDesign on three computers, two PCs (1 Dell, 1 HP) and a Macbook, and are working on the same file in a shared drive. The file is a list of items with ID, Description, Year, and Price. We are aligning columns using the tab key. The file is appearing the same for the HP and Macbook, both of which were setup a year ago. When the file is opened with the Dell, which was set up a week ago, either the font (Azo Sans) or the formatting is being affected somehow. The Description reaches slightly further into the page, causing a change in where inDesign is placing the first tab. The next column, Year, is then offset for various items when a Description is a certain length. For one item, this is on the same file opened by each computer, the Description reaches just before 3" into the page on the HP and Mac, but right at 3" for the Dell, which is causing the first tab to be placed differently. Bonjour ! J’ai un problème avec les couleurs sur mon indesign. Quand j’imprime les couleurs ne sont pas du tout les mêmes. Savez-vous comment le paramétrer pour que j’ai des couleurs assez correspondantes avec les couleurs d’impression ? Merci 🙂

Hallo zusammen!Ich hatte nie Probleme mit InDesign, aber plötzlich taucht dieser Fehler auf (siehe Screenshot). Ich habe, wie immer - mehrere Kapitel - die ich einzeln als Dokumente anlege und dann zu einem Buch zusammenfasse. Normalerweise ist es leicht, die Seitenzahlen fortlaufend zu aktualisieren - aber jetzt funktioniert es einfach nicht. Ich habe halb Google durchsucht und alles versucht, was vorgeschlagen wurde - aber nichts funktioniert. Hat jemand noch einen Tipp? Ich verzweifel langsam! (Das erste Dokument hat 7 Seiten, daher stimmt 1-3 schonmal nicht. Eben hatte es kurz funktioniert, dass 1-7 angezeigt wird, daher bei dem 2. Kapitel die "8".) Grüße

I've transferred my Indesign file a couple of times to see how the PDF would look like, but all of a sudden my 'background tasks' kind of crashed. It won't load more than 60% of transferring it to a PDF file, so I've cancelled the tasks and now it keeps saying 'cancelling'. On top of that, when I want to create a new PDF file again or close Indesign it says it can't be closed/loaded as there some 'background tasks' going on. Before I didn't have this problem and I have no clue what is wrong (I can save my InDesign file though). Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

I am just finalising the A5 booklet for print. It is currently 12 pages, stapled.I ran a test print with a local company and noticed that some of the images are creeping over into the next page (see images attached for what I mean)How do I avoid this for the next print run?Many thanks, Emily 

Is anyone else having problems with the new Indesign 2025 update, so far myslef and the design team that work alongside me are experiencing the following problems, does anyone know of a fix or does this require Adobe to bring out a patch/new update: Page setup - have to type in page measurements in three times as they keep reverting back to original sizesData merge dialogue box - seems to be a white box covering up the data fields in the dialogie boxIn general does seem quite slow and laggy compared to the earlier versions. 

There used to be a preference to enable and disable background tasks. I historically keep this on. Now when I save, I can't move on to export until the save is complete and vice versa. I'm stuck waiting. Has something changed? I've searched for an answer and have only found something about disabling Background Export in the File menu, but I don't have that in my menu. Mac OS 10.13.6InDesign 2020

I have an InDesign doc with multiple pages. Exporting to Express only exports the first page of the document. Is this the expected behaviour?

Cuando llegue a la pagina final no estaba completo, pense que lo habia colocado mal pero cuanod borre un par de frases otras mas aparecieron abajo, pareciera que estuvieran ocultas las demas páginas. Ya intente con mostrar pliegos ocultos y nada funciona. 

This issue just started happening today - I am not able to move my indesign window between my two monitors. Yesterday I was able to but not today. It is only happening to Indeisgn  - all other Adobe programs work fine.   Did I check something?? I have no clue what I could have done??? Is anyone else having this issue? I am on Windows 10 PC.  

Alright, So I want to download InDesign but can't because it says my device is not compatible. I looked at the requirments and I have an intel i3 so i cant download the 20.x versions. So I checked out the earlier requirments  for earlier versions which I have but how do I download these versions. I checked out how to install previous versions but my screen looks way different from whats shown. When I press the more actions drop down list I can only see "explore tutorials" and "view product details" please how can I fix this? I have a project due in 6 days. 

I am C++ SDK plugin lerner and I want to observe the changes into document so I need the inderface ID for it so is there any listing of Interfaces id for observing the document or panel related things.

Getting this error when sample SDK plugins are build in Visual Studio 2022 for InDesign2023. I have multiple Visual Studio(2019 and 2022).(#error:- update xlocnum hack header by copying over the header from your Visual Studio installation and applying the same changes as to the previous versions. Hi all -I'm having an issue where after publishing a document online the left arrow becomes to arrow to advance the document to the next page, and the right arrow takes you backwards a page.  For example, see the screenshot below, showing page #1, where there is only a left arrow to available to advance. This only happens when clicking with the mouse, if you use your keyboard arrows, the right advances the document and the left goes backwards. I've found this errors occuring on multiple documents I've published online, in fact everything for the past 6 months, in multiple browsers.  I'm not sure if this was occuring when I initially published these documents - if so clients did not inform me of the problem.   I've tried re-publishing, that didn't help... My only thought is that this might have to do with my having changed settings for a document in Arabic I made a while ago.  However I've reinstalled InDesign and made sure the language of th

HiCould anyone tell me how to get the number of records in the data attached to a document?I've been trying to write a script which needs this to work. I've been looking through the data model at DataMerge options and preferences but I can't seem to find anything that stores the data count.Thanks!

Is this option still available?I didn't find it in the preferences, in the last version (13.08)

Hello, I am formatting an employee handbook for a client. I am having an issue with my paragraph and character styles not performing correctly. I am having the issue where if I apply a change to a selected part, it changes everything whether I have selected it all or not. I haven't applied the style to any other part except for a specific part I am working on. I have switched to a new document to see if that would help but it didn't seem to help.

URGENTE da ieri gli stili di paragrafo di indesign (sia 2024 che 2025) non funzionano più, selezionanado un testo non si applica lo stile, non fa creare nuovi stili.Ho avviato indesign con la combinazione di tasti maiuscolo+control+option+command per riavviare il programma senza le preferenza ma nulla. Ho disinstallato indesign e lo ho reinstallato ma continua a non funzionarequalcuno può dirmi come mai?

So we have an old mac at work that uses 2017 InDesign. Its basically needing to stay old to let certian old programmes work that would be hugely expensive to upgrade. Its always worked with the same account I use for the programme here on my fairly new Mac which is quite up to date. I use InDesign 2025 .   The problem is the old mac had to restart and when it did the InDesign wont open. When we try (from cloud) it tells us we need to sign in, even though we are already signed in on that account (AI and PS both work) and when we click sign it it just says we have a trial which is not the case (its the same account I sign in with on my mac which works fine). So is asking us to pay for a new account.   <title edited by moderator>   Any ideas? We have used it on both mac for a long time now. Im guessing its the old version is causing issues? maybe unsupported now?

Hello,InDesign doesn't have a built-in dictionary for Australian English, AFAIK. !Following Adobe's instructions for installing Hunspell dictionary is difficult since the addresses for storing the dictionary apparently keeps changing between CC versions.Also, instructions for converting, renaming file names and creating the final dictionary folder though not difficult, feels uncomfortable, considering that any mistake can affect the document I'll be sending to print, which in my case is a magazine with a considerable print run.Is this really Adobe's official way to install the dictionary, or a more straightforward method exist which I'm unaware of?Kind regards,Kasra
