Hi,I really need your help with something. I am trying to create a recipe book, and before that I made some tests. I need margins and bleed. I tried to create some forms, but when I export it the result is not as it's supposed to be at. I also imported it to KDP to check the result, and after 19 versions and tests I still didn't find the solution. The forms seem to overlap, and change position. I don't even understand how it's possible. I use adobe for a few years now but I am a beginner on Indesign. I did checked the "use document bleed parameter" (or something like that, my Indesign is not in english) when export. My kingdom for a solution 

Hey,I am working on my first book layout in InDesign. Which paragraph alignment is most common for a nonfiction book? It seems like "Justify with last line aligned left" would be the standard, but I wanted to double-check.Thank you very much for any help!

Yesterday I was working on that file and everything is okay I even export it the PDF and I saved it. Today when I open the file I got that error and the Indesign just crashed and show that "The file is damaged (Error Code:3).Have anyone experienced this before.I'll submit the crash report for more detail.

I have been struggling with working on all files created by a previous version of Indd. All the links appear to be working when in the links pannel. When I try to manually relink the files I get this pop up and am not able to edit, change or link any new files. Some things I have done and tried that have not resolved the issue:Installed macOS SequoiaUninstall and reinstall InddRestarted computerSaved file in another locationSaved the file as IDMLTried packaging the file but it would not package the file since the links could not be found I could really use some help troubleshooting!

I have used Adobe InDesign many times before, to create catalogs, booklets, posters, and other print material. I have never had this issue before. I have not used the program for about 6 months, and have since gotten a new laptop. I am wondering if this is possibly a glitch on InDesigns end from a new update. I have created a print ready PDF in CMYK color format, but when I export to PDF and open it in Acrobat, the colors are vibrant, which I assume are RGB colors.  A bit more information...- I have exported one page as a JPEG, and the CMYK colors are accurate as they appear in my InDesign workspace. - All of the swatches used in InDesign are set to CMYK- Transparency blend space is set to Document CMYK- The file is set to print in document setup- All of the Illustrator graphics I use in the InDesign file were made in CMYK color mode in Illustrator. We are using Google Drive to share files. Why, when I upload indesign files, does it add a ._ to the beginning of the file names? This happened on a MAC./

I’m working on a book project in InDesign with multiple documents, and I want to ensure consistent formatting across all files. How can I synchronize paragraph styles, character styles, and other settings like master pages and swatches within the book file? Is there an option to update all documents at once without manually adjusting each one? Also, if a change is made to the styles later, will it automatically reflect across the book? Any tips or best practices for managing styles in a book project would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure why this is happening but I can't seem to keep the last line of text at the end of a column from jumping to the next column (See pic 01). Only after expanding the text box a lot (2 lines beyond the required length) does the line from the next column come back. (See pic 02).

I just started using indesign in CS6, all went smooth, until the history panel is gone. I can't remember what I did, I might press something accidentally, but it is gone now. I tried to open window and look for history option, but its not there. what can I do to show the history panel again?

In my PDF documents, links to text anchors always function. However they don't always send a reader to the correct page. Are there rules, such as things to do or avoid, when creating text anchors to ensure they work as intended?  I have found that sometimes when they do not work I can fix them by editing the anchored text. Just moments ago I was able to get a 10-word text anchor to work properly by putting "&" in place of "and". I have been thinking that maybe having similar text on two pages might confuse InDesign's brain :-), because sometimes some of the words used in a text anchor will have words used in another anchor, but usually the text used will be totally unique. Appreciate any insights.

I'm doing some production art in InDesign CC 2018 on a Windows 10 64-bit machine. The document is a product manual for sporting equipment and it's in English and Chinese. The body text was assigned a typeface called Bryant Pro Regular using a Paragraph Style. However, it has a limited character set which does not include the many missing Chinese characters. The typeface that does have these characters is called SimSun, which I made a Character Style out of.Is there a way (maybe using Find/Change) to apply a Character Style with the SimSun font where the missing characters show up? My first thought was to use GREP but I don't believe there's a way to describe missing characters with it. There are 205 pages to contend with so I really don't want to have to manually select each instance and apply the style to. Even with a shortcut assigned to the style, it'll take a long time.

On the very last page of a book, I have a stand-alone, otherwise empty text box in a document. It has an endnote icon.When I delete it, I get a warning saying "This operation will also delete the corresponding endnote references." If I convert it to a footnote, it says "Successfully converted 0 Endnote to Footnote." There were originally some endnotes imported from Word, but were converted to static text.I don't know how to find whatever in the text is causing the "endnote." Any idea how to troubleshoot this?TIA   

Hello All,I created a document in INDD, hyperlinked it, saved it as a PDF, and emailed it to myself. When I click the PDF, it opens into a PDF program, and I can click the hyperlinked area, and it opens to the website I linked. My question is, if I want to upload this document as an image to social media and have someone click it to get to the website, how should I save this document? I am a student still learning, so I appreciate your help and patience in explaining this to me.

What is considered the standard for space between the lines so that it offers enough space for notes? I came across that it might be 8mm (0.31 inches.), but I wanted to double-check.Thank you very much for any assistance!

Hi, I am working on a book layout design. I don't have much experience in this area, so I wanted to ask if my margins are well setup or if they could be improved. Info: The book will have around 250 pages and the sizing is 200x250mm (7.87 x 9.84 inches)Top margin: 25 mm (0.98 inches)Bottom margin: 28.15 mm (1.11 inches)Outer margin: 25 mm (0.98 inches)Inner margin: 20 mm (0.79 inches)Thank you very much for any help!   

Hi all, I downloaded Apple's SF Pro font from apple.com, and when I change the font size, the style changes. First screenshot is 90pts, Bold. When I attempt to change the font size using the drop down menu (pictured), the font style changes to custom (final screenshot) This behaviour does not occur when I use the arrows on the left of the font size box, or when I use other Adobe packaged fonts. Please could someone help? Thank you very much.H

I am creating a clickable PDF with indesign. I made bookmarks in Indesign from alle the chapters. Because I want boomarks to show up in Acrobat for accesibility reasons.Now I need to make some hyperlinks as well (text anchors) to certain chapters in my document because in my text there are links to certain parts. Bookmarks don't seem to pop up in my panel when I want to create a hyperlink. So I also have to make all hyperlink destinations from all the chapters (double work...). But when I do, it says the hyperlink destination allready exists. (probably because the bookmark was alleready created and has the same name (name of the chapter).Am I doing something wrong? Why can't bookmarks also show up as a hyperlink destination as well when making the hyperlinks. That would make live so much easier and quicker. Now I have to do the work twice and make sure the name is different.I also am wondering why I cannot see the hyperlink destinations in a panel. I can only see the links themself and

Hi all,I have a frustrating issue with scrolling InDesign panel lists such as swatches, font list etc.After I type any set value entering it on a dialogue box (like font size, transparency, color tone, font spacing etc), all InDesign list panels become unusable: list elements (swatches, fonts etc) slip away from mouse selection like they were anchored to cursor.Mouse click outside InDesign window to desktop or other apps also doesn't work.Functionality can be restored only by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Canc and then Esc. I attach a sample video of the issue:1. two panels working correctly (not important which panels, the issue appears on any panel);2. typing of a random value on a random box (not important which box, the issue appears after any keyboard entering on any box);3. the same panels not working anymore (in the video I am only moving the cursor over them, without pressing any mouse button). I think there could be a conflict between InDesign and hardware/OS settings, here deta

to work well and without slowing down the construction of a voluminous project with images and hyperlinks on INDESIGN 2024 what exactly do I need on my PC

Bonjour, je suis un illustrateur et je veux faire un pdf de la plus haute qualité possible pour faire des impressions.J'importe dans InDesign une photo de qualité 1200x1200 dpi (format png) (et j'ai donc une photo de 1286ppp effectifs d'après le panneau d'info des liens), je remarque que j'ai une perte de qualité comparé à la photo dans "Aperçu" (sur mac) (voir photo (à gauche sur indesign et à droite sur l'aperçu photo)). Je précise que j'ai légèrement rétréci la taille de l'image sur indesign donc elle n'a pas de raison de pixelliser et mes paramètres d'affichage de l'image sont au maximum (qualité supérieure dans les performances d'affichage, ainsi que l'aperçu de la surimpression activé), la perte de qualité est la même sur le pdf.J'aimerai savoir comment régler cette perte de qualité qui me bloque dans mon travail.Merci à vous
